I have the newest version of OOTPB, and I am fully patched up with the very newest patch. The game drops to desktop when I deal with the first batter of the first game of the season, and I am managing a game. I only had one crash before this, on the unpatched game. Apart from the patches, my version of OOTPB is unmodified; I am using the fictional roster that comes with the game. This crash is repeatable and consistent. I will send you the game file as soon as I figure out your FTP instructions.

EDIT: I am sorry, but I don't know how to FTP anything to you. When I was at my previous job, I always got a techie to do my file transfers for me. Since I got fired, there's been nobody that I needed to send large files to, so I never learned.

Can you please clarify step-by-step for someone who has absolutely no idea what to do, the process of sending by FTP my crashy game file to you?

I updated the FTP instructions to make them a bit easier. Let me know if you have any problems!

OOTP2006+latest patch 12258. OS Win2000.

Continued my league (Cubby/Rolen Beta06.lg) after installing the patch. Played the Boston-Philadelphia game letting the AI manage both teams and watching each at bat in the Sion screen. At the end of the game, in the Box Scores screen, clicking on "Leave Game" crashed the program.
Repeated once more as above and then again by simulating all innings.

In all three attempts I get a Program Error window - "ootp2006.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program. An error log is being created." - and then the game crashes to desktop. I can't find a generated error log.

I've uploaded my dat files to your ftp site. File name is IanCollins.zip.

Just let me know if you need additional details.

I've found the FTP site okay, thanks to the new instructions. The upload is taking a long time, though. I noticed that some of the file sizes are widely divergent - my file is 65 MB. Am I doing this right?

I do too, and it's now about 2 hours. The meter is stuck on 15 seconds left. I'm going to go for a walk and come back. If it isn't done by then, I'll cuss like a sailor and try again.

The file is sent. It's named "George.Zip" in honour of one of the best scenes in one of my favourite movies of all time: "Airplane!" In the words of the great Dr. Rumack, "Let's get out there and win one for the Zipper!"

game crashing

I just installed the new patch today & the game is crashing on me too. It has crashed twice on me since installing the new patch, and never crashed before. Both crashes have been in the middle of playing a regular season game, but one was @ the first of a game & the other @ the end of a game.

I read the earlier about post about zipping .dat files and ftp them, but I have no idea where those files are or even what you are talking about.

Please help.

Well, we've gotten a number of files already, so why don't you sit tight, and I'll try to update you folks tomorrow at some point?

I uploade my data files that crash. Text file included for letting you know how to reproduce. I have done it twice in a row the same way.

Basically just manage the next Cleveland Indians game and at the end of the game during the BOX Score summary hit leave game. It will pop up the usual Error Box by Microsoft and exit. This has happened two times in a row.

Running Win XP sp2.

File name Test MLB League.RAR

Just uploaded my dat files. File name is RBF.lg.zip.

To reproduce, go to the Archangelsk team transactions page. It crashes every time I go there. Currently in the middle of free agency.

Win XP SP2.

My game crashed too.
3rd game of the regular season.
It's season 3 of my manager career.
I auto-simmed the spring training games.
Then I tried to play as the manager/coach after regular season starts.
First two games ended alright.
3rd game, jumped to 5th inning and game crashed.
Reloaded the game, all game schedules are gone. Player stats remained.
I need some help too. I'll try to upload my .dat files in a minute.

Another crash

Steve et all,

Got another crash, this time when starting a new game (based on latest beta rosters from Cubby/Rolen). When I add a new manager and click OK the game crashes with reference to a memory that "could not be read"

Shirley, I'm not kidding (and stop calling me Shirley)

I sent you my dat files...hope i did this right cuz ive never done it before. it's called thedrock.zip

to answer your questions, this was a league i created with ootp2006 before any of the patches were applied. I havent tried any other league since then.

One other thing that might interest you. When i first hit continue after playing out my first game, i was sent to my messages list and it showed me have 20+ messages. when i went through the messages, they were all old ones from the season before. a couple of them had no titles and when i clicked on them, i got an error message. i dont remember exactly what the message said, but it referred to bad titles. i havent been able to duplicate it since. Im not sure if this helps or not.

thanks for any help you can give me.

Guys, if you were getting a crash, could you please go to this thread?

Markus threw out a super-quick patch this morning (for PC only) that should resolve the crash issues (and the pinch hitting issue).

Bear in mind this was a very quick fix, so it may not work for everyone.

Please report back as to whether or not this resolved your crash!

Thanks,

Steve
