Flutie was great in the USFL too, IIRC; that should count!

If Canton were opened up to non-NFL numbers, then Herschel Walker is in front of Flutie in that line.

If I were a bit older I'd probably be really pissed that Flutie's ridiculous Hail Mary vs. Miami was caught, costing OSU RB Keith Byars the Heisman.

Flutie doesn't have a snowball's chance here.
To compare the CFL to the Negro Leagues might be the least funny joke ever. The CFL isn't the equivalent of the Negro Leagues. It's not Japan. I'm not sure it's even above the Arena league or NFL Europe. Flutie getting into the Pro Football HOF would be like a guy who put up record-breaking minor league numbers and backup/average major league numbers getting into the Pro Baseball HOF because he kicked ass in AAA. |

1. The player wasn't good enough to make the majors, so why put him in the HOF for minor league stats? However, this doesn't address the fact that in the first half of the 20th century there were minor leagues that were highly competitive and had significant talent. 2. There are a lot more bad players in the minor leagues, so the very best minor leaguer's stats might be tremendously inflated based on the pitching/hitting he faced. I don't think there's really any way to quantify this. 3. It's much harder to find people who are knowledgable enough to vote on minor leaguers. I know that doesn't necessarily preclude the Baseball Writers from voting on MLB stars, but that's for another thread.

apparently the 30-second posting rule doesn't apply to accidental triple posting
