Yea, to me, sound is pretty pointless without some sort of graphical engine. I don't use it in the current game (never even used it enough to experience the crashing problem). That being said, saying it is pointless is fundamentally wrong if there are some out there that would get enjoyment out of it. MD, you said yourself you are in fact not the son of a district attorney, so quit acting like you should be treated like one.

If there was some sort of play by play, with colour commentary by Joe Morgan, maybe I'd change my mind about sounds in the game.

Why does it bother people that don't want sound?
You can always turn it off. There should be an option to have sound on if we want. I glad Markus will address it in the future. The option to have sound on and off will make everyone happy. |

I understand why the sound is at the bottom of the priority list. I don't believe it is pointless, but, like MD, I believe that the development resources should be spent on other, more important parts of the game.
A good time to introduce sound would be if/when a 2d engine is introduced |

Amazing - there are literally dozens of features in the new version (leading with the "world" option) that I could care less about. However obviously some people want that - so have at it.
But myself and many others DO care about sound and it IS a major immersion factor. So much so that we have spent hours battling the crash in previous versions and I personally purchased a new computer with the primary reason being to see if I could get the sound to work again. What I don't understand is this feeling of entitlement some have to dictate what the game should or should not have. The strength of OOTP and the reason it still beats the competition is that the game has something for everyone. Some people don't ever play their games out and pour over CATO reports. I personally have never even loaded CATO and prefer to get to know my team on a game by game basis. Which is what makes this game great. Some swear by fictional universes and some swear by MLB only. etc, etc So you don't want sound, fine voice your opinion, but to argue whether or not it is important to someone else is just infantile. |

Official statement on sound issue for OOTP2006 already made in this thread, hence it is closed due to fire hazard.
