2000? Thats really not the historical period were looking for. Thats not far enough back for most of us.

I, too, voted for the earliest slot. However, I am desperate enough for a historical league that won't fold after the first simmed season that any new historical league gets my immediate vote!

Historic Leagues
My preference is historic leagues, and I'd like to be in leagues from several different eras. It'd be great if they lasted long enough to "age out" as modern leagues. Each time period has it's appeal, and problems.
The MLBC is a great historic league that's been around for a long time. Barry is an outstanding commish and keeps the league on track. I like the way he makes a visit to the league website reflect the time period of the league. One of my favorite times in the MLBC was drafting during the war years.

I agree I like historic leagues best. I would say a fictional Historical mix is good as well. That is what I sim most in my solo leagues. Very little Currant leagues. I like to see at least a few well known players in the mix when I play. Too currant and you get fictional totally real fast. I do have a currant league, but I mixed in all time greats and after some of the currant stars retire I import them again as a younger player. So the fictional still has a historic flavor for as long as I want by importing players every few seasons. I started by using Cubbyfans currant set and doing some editing.

I was going to say 1871 too, but I was thinking, is Basball in the United States the first professional team sports league in the world?

I've wanted to be in a league startng with the 1970 Mets. Try to keep the mid-late 70's from happening. |

But I'd take the Mets anyway. This is perfect timing for me, coming right at the beginning of my baseball watching days. I turned 7 in Aug. 66, but it's the 1967 season I really can remember a bit. |

Why'd you decide to go with 1966?

Mostly because it was Sandy Koufax's last season and I wanted him in the league. I wanted something late 60's but I wanted some distance from expansion in 1970. Frank Robinson's triple crown led the Orioles to a four game sweep over Koufax's Dogers. It was a good year for baseball.
