Like maybe a box of new baseballs or a steak dinner. Either one would be more valuable than Bell.

Somebody out there has to be itching to trade away a mediocre middle reliever for Bell.

Not exactly spring training news, but it looks like the company will be buying us tickets for a Phillies game again this season.

No biggie, just move Polanco there fulltime.

Speaking of Firestarter:

http://www.phillyburbs.com/pb-dyn/ne...06-619820.html

Quote:
CLEARWATER, Fla. - Phillies outfielder Bobby Abreu and two pals went through security and were led into a small room inside a Venezuelan prison.

There were no bars on the windows or armed guards in the room when Ugueth Urbina entered alone.

Abreu felt like crying, seeing one of his best friends like this, but instead smiled and offered a big hug. Then the guys talked and laughed for an hour.

This was December, the first of Abreu's two jailhouse visits, which occurred shortly after Urbina was jailed for attempted murder and three other charges, which could keep the former Phillies pitcher behind bars for 20 years.

Good news, Phillies fans. David Bell has said he is feeling good about playing.

Quote:
CLEARWATER, Fla. - Phillies third baseman David Bell walked off the field at the Carpenter Complex yesterday, headed to the batting cage underneath the Tiki Bar at Bright House Networks Field.

"I'm ready to play," he said.

Bell missed the team's intrasquad games Sunday and Monday because of a sore left elbow. He has been able to field and throw but has hit only in the cage for the last couple of days. He said he could play tomorrow in the Grapefruit League opener against the New York Yankees in Tampa, but that will be manager Charlie Manuel's decision.

Manuel sounded as if he might wait another day or two.

"The elbow is fine," Bell said. "I knew that when I hit" on Monday.

Third base is going to be well taken care of, I'm sure.

Remember, we beat the Skankees yesterday, 6-3. We've got at least one memorable moment this year. Go Phils.

Okay, I'm starting to get fired up for baseball to get going, but even so, it seems like almost every day you hear about Ryan Howard hitting another homer in spring training.

9 dingers in 54 AB's, let's hope that's a good sign.

Yeah, he's probably Babe Ruth reincarnated. However without the clutch veteran leadership of Todd Pratt, the Phillies are doomed!

Good news Phillies fans! David Bell continues to make forward strides towards returning to man the hot corner for the Phils. We need this man's bat to boost the sagging offense.

Quote:
On Sunday, Manuel stopped just short of saying that David Bell won't be ready for the season. After playing in four consecutive Minor League games, Bell rested Sunday and probably will have Monday off, too. Asked if he felt Bell will be ready, Manuel said, "I want to say no. I want to make sure that he's ready to play, whenever that is."
