Was Ohio State's defense better than PSU's because it was on the field less, or was Ohio State's OFFENSE better than PSU's because it was on the field more?

dola,
Penn State's defense gave up 4.17 yards per play. Ohio State's defense gave up 4.28 yards per play. Statistically speaking, I'd say Penn State's defense was probably better. |

Not sure how you can make that statement when OSU was ranked ahead of PSU in every major defensive category. Rushing, Passing, Points, 3 and outs, etc. I'd say the 2 offenses were probably about equal. |

I'd say, if you want to compare the defenses on an even level, yards per play is probably the best way to do so. Tell me, if a player rushes for 100 yards on 90 carries, and another rushes for 98 yards on 18 carries, who had the better day? |

If anyone should feel ROBBED, it should be Oregon who got snagged out of a BCS game.

For the player? Absolutely. Even the top college players aren't guaranteed of a future in the NFL (thinking of all the latest Heisman trophy winning quarterbacks...), and even if you are good enough to make it to the NFL, Hawk's career could be cut short by injury, or he could be the next Ryan Leaf (for whatever reason -- not suggesting he doesn't have the mental capacity to succeed, just that he *could* wind up not being able to live up to the hype). If that's the case, at least he could look at his mantle and think to himself (or tell his kids or grandkids) "You know, I was once considered the best linebacker (or whatever) in all of college football." Some people might think no success in the pros means that doesn't mean much, but I think it still means something. But I think you were probably talking about all the bickering done by fans, in which case, yeah, I mostly agree with you. What can the fan say, "You know, I once cheered for the guy considered the best linebacker (or whatever) in all of college football"? That said, I was still really happy when Danny Wuerffel won the Heisman.

for those who actually care....
Posluszny is the correct spelling... also, coming from a guy with an overrated Ted Ginn as his avatar, I don't expect any non-crying (juuust kiddin).
