Didnt bowden just re sign w/the Nat's? Not sure Bowden's all that he sort of left the reds a bit of a mess .Jimbo's not one to develope S.P. and he never saw a 4-5 tool/utility guy he didnt think he could/would develope into a 40/40 guy . So i say dodger fans beware of what you wish for .

I wouldnt mind seeing DePodesta in cincy. Now if only the Carl Lindner REDS majority owner/C.E.O. would come to his sense's and S**t can Dan O brien.

Bowden signed a 6 mo. extension that by my completely non-professional guess would be very easy to get out of. And believe me, no Dodgers fans are wishing for him.

There are a couple of Angel fans who wouldn't cry too hard if the Dodgers decided to cement their "second-best team in the market" status for a decade or two, though!

On a more serious note, I see talks with Epstein and the Sox have stalled. What do you think the chances are of Theo coming to LA? He's a Boston guy and he's won a title. That's got to be appealing to Frankie.

Bowden is the Nats GM until April 2006 and possibly afterwards.
I do not see the Dodgers hiring a GM that would take over at start of the season as the earliest.

If he just clashed with one "stathead" GM and the biggest clash was over the GM's desire to hire a manager with the same philosophy I don't see why McCourt would want to bring in Epstein just to have the same argument.

Well, we don't know the real reason for this. It could be that McCourt is Steinbrenner West, which he is really shaping out to be. The front office has been a revolving door. The LA Times have been all over McCourt and Depo and he may feel the need to fire him simply for that reason, not over philosophical differences or anything other than his own reactionary ineptitude.

This is true, but to be fair he made a number of deals that look fairly poor in hindsight, the Derek Lowe example being number one on the list.

Again, that may have been brought on by pressure from McCourt... McCourt, a Boston guy (he loved Lowe), wanted him to go out and get a marquee free agent... and IIRC, the Lowe Deal happened right after the Dodgers missed out on Beltran.

It's definitely speculation though... so take it for what its worth... I just remember thinking this when the deal happened.
