Playing it again when the next installment comes out is also my great hope Chipa. My fear is that it will never happen since everyone with any association with the game says that it is OUR PROBLEM with OUR COMPUTER.

I do not expect them to "fix" OUR problem. I promise that I am not trying to be negative, I just don't believe that it will be addressed if it does not happen to everyone, only a select few with apparently sub par machines.

It is a bummer though, gonna miss it and the wierdest part is knowing that I don't need to get excited about upcomong versions or upgrades. Apparently I have gone as far as I can go.

This is just a thought.. The only thing different from my system OS now and the previous system OS is that I am usng Chinese Windows XP. Could that be a possible reason for causing the runtime error?

Not sure, but possible I'd guess.

I use the Japanese Windows XP OS and have never had any problems on either of my machines.

Runtime errors occur when a program with no syntax errors asks the computer to do something that the computer is unable to reliably do. Common examples are:
  • Trying to divide by a variable that contains a value of zero
  • Trying to open a file that doesn't exist
This may point to the league file having at some point become corrupted or, somewhere along the line, a seemingly insignificant, tiny file got written erroniously when a lineup or roster was not filled in correctly. Now the game cannot go far without trying to access that certain tiny file. Thus the "runtime" error.

First, try not to use any third party utilities and start a new league. Dump the old leagues because they may be corrupt.

Second, make sure that all lineups, rosters and pitching staffs are filled and there are no duplicates in the lineup at the same time. Injured players should be out of the lineup or on the DL. Or better yet, make sure that you leave the teams Computer Controlled, unless you are running a team.

Then run your sim, or play the game.

I just wanted to say thank you to F. Montoya for all of his attempts to help those of us with our "Runtime Error" Problem. In each situation each help did offer a little hope for a while. Saddly, in my situation after each one of my new leagues gets a few seasons behind it, they occur again losing alot of stats.

I wish the problem could be solved, but apparently my crappy computer will never be able to play the game with any reliability. Or at least that is what the ootp powers that be tell me. Mysteriously, I have no other problem with any program.

Thanks again my friend for all of your effort!

I hate to see my love (ootp) fade away as I am no longer able to play.

Might I suggest that you join some online leagues? As long as you can open a league file and export a team, you should still be able to enjoy the game.
