I don't know that he choked so much as he thought the Fb would keep going. Either way, huge break for USC.

You could see that coming a MILE away. Coach making the spiking motion repeatedly, the TB coming up to talk to the QB before the play, the concerted O-line movement. Great call--better chance of scoring and winning from the 1 than kicking the FG and having to win in OT.

Yea, but it is a great time to call it. There was so much confusion going on that there is no way anyone from Notre Dame saw that stuff going on.

*Edit* - And it is a tough stop to make, even if Notre Dame knows they are going to do it.
