Ok, so I ran into this problem
http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...d.php?t=101685

And the only solution that I can think of is to delete the offending players and recreate them as fictional players and assign them the same ratings. I plan on doing this only for the select few (Eddie Plank for example) worthy of my time.

Expect the sim to be back on track this weekend if I'm sober enough to get around to it.

1902

1902 turned out to be a newsworthy year.

Player News

Bob Caruthers became the first ever .400 hitter in history, sort of. He only accumulated 147 at bats and so it does not enter the record books. Who knows what could have happened though, Bob had a .401 average through June 1st when a hamstring injury sidelined him for 6-8 weeks. But being 37 has its drawbacks and Bob never appeared in another game all season, eventually being dropped by Texas, frustrated by his inability to heal. He was quickly picked up by Boston, but never made it past AAA on his rehab assignment, hitting just .238 in 30 games in Pawtucket.

Tremaine Quinn (Shanghai), the defending IL home run champ took a 9 home run lead into the break with 31. He would cool off in July with "just" 8 and looked like he would settle around his past years total of 53. But once the calender turned to August, Tremaine proved while he's called Wild Thing, smashing 15 dingers with 45 RBI giving him an astounding 54 by Sept. 1. Quinn tied Dru Kemmerer's 30 year old record with his 63rd home run with still 5 games left on the schedule, but was held to just 3 hits over the last 5 games and settled for tying Dru on the all-time record and breaking the IL record of 57 by Terrill Stallman by 6.

Quinn wasn't the only power hitter for Shanghai. In fact, the team hit 266 home runs, breaking the record of 262 set by Osaka in 1844. Quinn's main buddy in the longball was Alexis Bormann who started the year off in Washington, but on July 3rd, with Washington looking to retool, the two swung a deal that sent Bormann to Shanghai in return for three high star prospects. Bormann lived up to his end of the deal smashing 31 home runs for Shanghai en route to 58 total and joining Quinn in both suprassing the previous IL record.

All eight batters in the regular lineup for Shanghai hit at least 20 home runs as they also broke the IL record for runs scored in a season.

Boston and New York swapped starters with Doc White going to Boston in exchange for Kliff Cabbage. A couple of famous names were traded for each other when Latin sent John McGraw to Seoul for Clark Griffith.

Jon Tinney laced his 2,000th hit at the age of 31, he seems a lock to one day hit the 3,000 mark. Also crossing the 2,000 hit plateau was Jesse Burkett at age 32.

July was a month for no-hitters as no less than THREE pitchers tossed one. Boston's 28 year old Doc McJames never let an Atlanta batter get a hit on the 2nd, just 27 days after tossing a 1-hitter against Seattle. Edward Phillips, 27, of Latin tossed one against Mexico 4 days later. Finally, 25 year old Joe Corbett of Philadelphia tossed a no-no against Washington on the 28th.

Mario Eaglesham, 26 and an up and coming pitcher from Texas suffered a torn back muscle in July and his career status remains in question.

Lloyd Deel won another Ace Award going 22-6 with a 2.14 ERA. Not surprisingly, Tremaine Quinn and Ed Delahanty won the Slugger Awards.

Results

On August 1st, Seattle had a record of 67-38, but their splits were amazing. 43-11 at home and 24-27 one the road. That's one giant home field advantage.

In the end of the season, all the races were quite tight. The most wins in the league again went to Seattle, who improved a whole 1 win over last season to 91-69, while Domincan had the lowest win total among playoff teams with 88. The biggest margin of victory was Domincan's 5 games lead.

Dominican and Chicago each claimed their pennants in 5 games marking Chicago's 12th and 3rd in a row and Domincan's 5th, their first since 1878.

The World Series was a blowout affair to begin with final scores of:

Chicago 14, Domincan 2
Chicago 2, Domincan 13
Domincan 8, Chicago 17

until things settled down in game 4, going to Domincan 6-4 to even the series. Chicago would claim game 5 at home 1-0 and took a 3-2 series lead back to the Dominican, but couldn't pull one out as Domincan held serve 8-6 and 8-4 to capture the title.

WORLD CHAMPION
DOMINCAN

5th Pennant
3rd World Title
