That could be a great side plot once I ever get back into side plots. I will note that he has an edgy, snaky demeanor in his notes just in case he ever comes up in an events or incidents role.

The breakdown of results are below with series records, not scores. Fort Hagen Regional #2 Oberland 3, #7 Lexington 0 #3 The Slog 3, #6 Spectacle Island 0 #5 Nahant 2, #4 Egret 1 Jamaica Plain Regional #2 County Crossing 2, #7 Glowing Sea 1 #3 University Point 2, #6 Cambridge 1 #4 Starlight 2, #5 Atom 1 Vault 81 Regional #2 Bunker Hill 2, #7 Quincy 1 #3 Goodneighbor 3, #6 Easy Town 0 #4 Concord 2, #5 Diamond City 1 Salem Regional #2 Roxbury 3, #7 Malden 0 #6 Southie 2, #3 Nordhagen Beach 1 #4 FHE 2, #5 Sunshine Tidings 1 Summary With the #1 seeds having a bye, here is the breakdown of seedings in the Sweet 16: #1: 4 #2: 4 #3: 3 #4: 3 #5: 1 #6: 1 #7: 0 Southie had the biggest upset of the Play-in Round, downing the powerhouse Nordhagen Beach, two games to one. The Party Boys won the first game, 5-1, with Beachboy Nut doing his thing. Nut allowed no runs on three hits with four strikeouts in 7.0 innings. The Brews had game, though, the next two, beginning their run to the tournament. In Game 2, Southie needed 13 innings, but came away with a 15-10 victory after a five-run inning in the 13th. Grill Atomson doubled twice.

March 2313
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 11 March 2313 Nuka Cup Tournament We have now played through the first two rounds of the Nuka Cup Tournament, with the first eliminations happening officially as of yesterday. Results and a summary are below. Fort Hagen Regional #1 Fort Hagen 3, #5 Nahant 0 #2 Oberland 2, #3 The Slog 1 Fort Hagen 2, Oberland 1 The Slog 2, Nahant 1 - Nahant eliminated Jamaica Plain Regional #1 Jamaica Plain 2, #4 Starlight 1 #3 University Point 2, #2 County Crossing 1 University Point 3, Jamaica Plain 0 County Crossing 2, Starlight 1 - Starlight eliminated Vault 81 Regional #1 Vault 81 2, #4 Concord 1 #3 Goodneighbor 2, #2 Bunker Hill 1 Vault 81 3, Goodneighbor 0 Bunker Hill 2, Concord 1 - Concord eliminated Salem Regional #6 Southie 2, #1 Salem 1 #2 Roxbury 2, #4 FHE 1 Southie 2, Roxbury 1 FHE 2, Salem 1 - Salem eliminated Summary Southie is the big story as they are one of the four teams, along with Fort Hagen, Vault 81, and University Point. The Brews not only got the Party Boys in the Play-in Round, but they have now beaten all three top seeds in the Salem Regional, including the host Witch Hats who are surprisingly the first team out in their regional. We are not expecting the Brews to do anything in the regular season that would indicate they have advanced to contender territory, but they have to love the 6-3 start and getting to rest before facing either the Rad Sox or Yao Guai in the Regional Final, in which the Brews will be granted a 1-0 series advantage in the "first to three wins" Regional Final. We will most certainly keep our eye on Southie's progress. For now, some legit CBO threats are 1B Fairlane Ford, 2B Grill Atomson, and CL Matthew Hughes. We will also peek in on how SP Buzzcut McDonald does after his 3-4, 3.54 rookie debut as a reliever in 2312. CCBL Preview The 2313 CCBL season begins today with part of the Southern Commonwealth (SoComm) Conference joining the league in 2313, while the other four teams will join in 2314. Looking at the predictions for 2313, PAM has the Holy Cross Crusaders matching up with the Mass Bay Beacons in the College Series. The Winthrop College Guardians, winners of the last two championships, are picked to finish 35-25 and barely in the playoffs. Here is the predictions for the tournament, with the top three seeds automatically determined by being conference champions. We have ordered the teams based on PAM's predictions of record and run differential. #1 Holy Cross (42-18, MassCon Champs) vs #16 Plymouth (34-26, +43) #8 Assumption (39-21, +83) vs #9 Western New England (37-23, +104) #4 Northeastern (40-20, +165) vs #13 Winthrop (35-25, +67) #5 Revere (40-20, +137) vs #12 Greenfield (37-23, +73) #2 Mass Bay (41-19, BCAC Champs) vs #15 Commonwealth (34-26, +62) #7 Mass Atlantic (39-21, +103) vs #10 Nuka U (37-23, +97) #3 ECSU (28-32, SoComm Champs) vs #14 U Mass-Lowell (35-25, +42) #6 Tufts (40-20, +120) vs #11 Boston College (37-23, +79) The Crusaders as the #1 overall seed and early favorites to win the championship would be making their first appearance in the playoffs in the CCBL. In 2311, Holy Cross finished 43-37, missing the playoffs by just a game. This season, Holy Cross has an outstanding outfield that should lead the way, including LF Wonny Johnson, CF Brandon Brown, and RF Lance Tinter. They also have two potential CBO draft pick starting pitchers in Dylan Newhat and Dropper Millieu. CL Sappy Castro could also find himself in the CBO one day. As the #2 seed, the Mass Bay University Beacons at University Point is trying to make a name for themselves in 2313. While the MassCon was still split into division, the Beacons won three divisional championships from 2309-2311. Mass Bay finished in 5th place in the MassCon last season. The two stars for the Beacons are 1B Kane Jarvis and 3B Barbarus Bailey. Other CBO prospects with Mass Bay include 2B Buns Palmer, SS Big Dipper Grzenkowicz, and RF Zoo Coomz. The top five picks as college's top hitter are 3B Donovan Mackey (Northeastern), LF Jets Freud (Tufts), 2B Buns Palmer (Mass Bay), 1B Haystack Black (Revere), and RF Exorcist Colwell (Fairfield). The top five picks for the top pitcher award are SP Bullets Barnes (Northeastern), SP Jean Dubost (Revere), SP Irvin Ray (Boston Coll), SP Gomer Brown (WNEU), and SP Dylan Newhart (Holy Cross).

March 2313
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 20 March 2313 Nuka Cup Tournament The regional tournaments are now complete with just four teams remaining in the 2313 Nuka Cup Tournament. Let's see the results below from the last week of action: Fort Hagen Regional Oberland 2, The Slog 1 - The Slog eliminated Oberland 3, Fort Hagen 2 - Oberland advances Jamaica Plain Regional Jamaica Plain 2, County Crossing 1 - County Crossing eliminated University Point 4, Jamaica Plain 1 - University Point advances Vault 81 Regional Goodneighbor 2, Bunker Hill 1 - Bunker Hill eliminated Vault 81 3, Goodneighbor 2 - Vault 81 advances Salem Regional Roxbury 2, FHE 1 - FHE eliminated Southie 4, Roxbury 1 - Southie advances Summary Southie continues to surprise as the Brews won three of the four-game series against Roxbury, taking the Salem Regional title, four games to one. The fourth "victory" is automatically awarded to the Winner's Bracket team in each regional. In the other regionals, the seeding did not seem to matter much, as the #1 Vaut 81 Dwellers, #2 Oberland T-51s, and #3 University Point Deathclaws all won their regionals to join #6 Southie. That also means we will have an all South Charles Association semifinals. Just one year ago, it was an all North Charles Association semifinals with Starlight coming out on top ahead of Fort Hagen, Nordhagen Beach, and Nahant. In the semifinals in the Great Green Jewel, Oberland will be considered the home team in Games 1 and 3 against University Point, which will be the home team in Game 2. The same goes for the Vault 81-Southie matchup with the Dwellers the home team in Games 1 and 3 and the Brews the home team in Game 2. Winners of those two series play for the right to be the 2313 Nuka Cup champions. Oberland and University Point have won three of the past five seasons, so they should be the favorite coming out of their Semifinals Round series. CYL Preview The 2313 Commonwealth Youth League has already begun, but we have yet to run the season preview. Let's take a look at what PAM thinks is going to happen this season after an exciting 2312 where the Marblehead Mess topped the Woodlawn Gnomes for the title. This season, 32 teams will reach the postseason tournament for the right to be the CYL champions. In the North Region, division winners are expected to be as follows: Franklin - Sturbridge Rangers 33-17 Emerson - Marblehead Mess 32-18 Fuller - Covenant Dandy Boys 33-17 Revere - (three-way tie) Boston Harbor Harborfellows 32-18 DuBois - Reading Rhinos 28-22 Those five division winners would be joined by 11 wildcard spots to make up the 16 teams competing in the North Region. Expected wildcard teams in order of seeding are: Boston Common Baby Bellies, Diamond City Newsboys, Lowell Frags, Beantown Sprouts, Circle Jerks, CIT Academy Yahoos, Lynn Pier Gamers, Worcester Crows, Hester Mechanists, Castle Freedom, and Beerthirty Sippers. Top competitors to win the batting title are 1B Bow Wow Vargas (Boston Common), LF Crunchy Sloganman (Boston Harbor), LF Varlam Sayadian (Reading), RF Ty Johnson (Concord), and 1B Fuzz Copman (Castle). The predicted top pitchers in the NR are SP Hub Purdue (Hester), SP Licky Lichenstein (Beantown), SP Mike Searocker (Lowell), SP Dream O'Sullivan (Boston Harbor), and SP Strongback Grazer (Hester). In the South Region, the divisions are expected to finish with these winners and top seeds: Adams - North Providence Phantoms 35-15 Alcott - Swansea Nuka Sox 32-18 Morse - (tie) Plymouth Hunters 30-20 Attucks - Truro Hatchings 34-16 Hancock - Old Lyme Lake Monsters 20-30 In the race for the 11 wildcard spots, this is the predicted order of playoff wildcards: Nauset Beach Lurk Hunters, West Quincy Atomatoys, Eastham Rads, Wellfleet Tarberries, Attleboro Deejays, Braintree Schoolboys, Jamaica Plain Treasures, Provincetown Land Pirates, East Providence Skulls, Taunton Giants, and Andrew Station Southies. Top competitors to win the batting title in the SR are RF Darby O'Doherty (Nuka Academy), LF Obee Jay (Nauset Beach), LF Jailhouse Shillitto (Holyoke), RF Alastair Being (West Quincy), and RF Fenwick Eagle (Coventry). The predicted top pitchers are SP Nutball Solc (Attleboro), SP Calvagh Lewis (North Providence), SP Chad OJ (Brown), SP Beefcake McStevens (Brown), and SP Big Dog Monaghan (Jamaica Plain).

Finals Round: Oberland T-51s vs Vault 81 Dwellers Game 1: Vault 81 4, Oberland 3 Oberland's SP/1B Lannie Tykeson may have been the game's MVP, but it was the Dwellers moving themselves one win away from winning the 2313 Nuka Cup. CCBL Analysis The first month of the college season is done, and at the top of the heap right now is a traditionally good team in the Northeastern University Huskies. The Huskies lead the CCBL with a 17-3 record, putting them one game up on the Harvard Crimson in the BCAC after 20 games. Other conference leaders are the WNEU Statesmen (16-4, MassCon) and U Conn Yankees (9-11, SoComm). The top three wildcard teams at this point are the Crimson, Nuka University, and Mass Bay University. CCBL Players of the Month Hitter - At only 18 years of age, Haystack Black could very well have many more months like this last one during his career. That would be great news for fans of the Revere College Riders, as March was one to remember for the first baseman and he has captured the Commonwealth Collegiate Baseball League Batter of the Month award. On the month he hit .468 with 11 home runs, 26 RBIs and 24 runs scored. Pitcher - March was a magical month for Bullets Barnes of Northeastern. He held the Commonwealth Collegiate Baseball League hitters spellbound, conjuring up a 5-0 mark and a 2.43 ERA. Barnes also chalked up 5 starts, 37 innings and 34 strikeouts. For this outstanding performance he was rewarded with the Pitcher of the Month trophy. CYL Analysis In the NR, division leaders in order of record are the Lynn Pier Gamers, Newburyport Cubs, Covenant Dandy Boys, Needham Radstorm, and Boston Common Baby Bellies. Top wildcards are Reading, Danvers, Woburn, Hester, Malden, and Rockport. In the SR, division leaders are the West Quincy Atomatoys, Harwich Fishheads, Andrew Station Southies, North Providence Phantoms, and Nuka Academy Colamakers. Top wildcards are Dennis, Wareham, Hope, Taunton, Swansea, Pawtucket, and Spectacle Island. CYL Players of the Month The CYL did not select top players in March, so we looked at the top WAR leaders per region for the top players so far: NR Hitter - 1B Earl McGraw, Lowell - .464/12 HR/31 RBI/1.6 WAR SR Hitter - RF Eric Creed, Swansea - .500/5/19/1.6 WAR NR Pitcher - SP Dream O'Sullivan, Boston Harbor - 2-0, 0.52 ERA, 34.1 IP, 2.4 WAR SR Pitcher - SP John Wonderwall, West Quincy - 3-0, 2.51 ERA, 32.1 IP, 1.9 WAR

April 2313
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 7 April 2313 CBO Season Preview It's a new season, and there is a lot of excitement in the air of change and progress among teams without winning traditions. PAM has made a series of interesting picks, and we are curious to see how right the trusty assaultron is entering 2313. Let's break down the picks and what they mean. North Charles Association PAM has predicted the The Slog Ghouls and Fort Hagen Silver Shroud to win their respective leagues with the Ghouls as PAM's pick to win the NCA. In order of the playoffs should PAM's predictions hold up: 1. The Slog 2. Fort Hagen 3. Concord 4. Salem 5. Nahant 6. County Crossing Both the Bloodbugs and Starlight are predicted to finish 70-60, but the Bugs would hold the tiebreaker based on these predictions with a higher run differential. The most interesting tidbit would be Nordhagen Beach finishing below .500 at 61-69. The Nuka Cup Tournament may have been the first hint that the Party Boys have not properly reloaded their talent to be competitive in the near future as they age out. The Boys will probably be early sellers to reload for 2314. Concord also offers an interesting pick as the #3 seed after missing the playoffs the last seven seasons. The Radstags came close last season, finishing at 67-63 and just out. It was their last winning season since 2305. The Stags have built a strong base over the years, and may have one of the most dangerous lineups in the CBO. Productivity of rookie 3B Mike Fountaineau, 1B Hax Kim, RF Gargoyle Falcone, and CF Duff Fee could frustrate opposing pitchers all season. Concord also has good depth, which could turn into trade fodder to improve the pitching staff. Still, the Radstags will have three really good pitchers in SP Leyden Aigg, SP Mel Gorgeous, and CL Penn Teller. In all, 70 appears to be the magic number to get into the playoffs. Speaking of the opposite of the playoffs, both the Easy Town Assaultrons and Sunshine Tidings Chemists are expected to battle for the CBO's #1 overall pick in the Rookie Draft. Both Malden and Cambridge are expected to just avoid the basement yet again. PAM is not predicting County Crossing's Babs Rooth to win the Nuka Hitter Award in 2313 as he did in 2312. Instead, PAM is picking 2B Diamond Ball of Nahant as the most likely to win the award, followed by Gavin Deux-Gas (The Slog), Brian DeLong (Salem), and Bulleye Shooterson (Nahant). In the pitchers' race, the Bloodbugs' College Luckyman is PAM's pick to win the Vim! Pitcher Award. Other contenders include The Slog's Make Money, and the Silver Shroud's La'Ray Kalel, Elastic Man Haley, and Sarthis Idren. South Charles Association In the SCA, PAM has the University Point Deathclaws and FHE Yao Guai as picks to win their leagues. The Yao Guai are an interesting pick to be the SCA representative in the Sole Survivor Series after losing out on the play-in game in 2312 to miss the playoffs. Here is the predicted playoff order: 1. FHE 2. University Point 3. Oberland 4. Diamond City 5. Vault 81 6. Jamaica Plain PAM has both Quincy and Roxbury at 67-63 and the first teams out. The Rad Sox were the CBO champions just two seasons ago, yet they still are in it and very well could find their way in yet again. In addition to Roxbury being out, a couple of interesting teams in Goodneighbor (2312 ML champion) and Egret to finish with losing records. We are trying to figure out what makes PAM doubt the Hancocks' chance for success since they are a young team that seems to be getting better and better. Looking at their lineup, they have filled in some of their holes, with some definitive stars in the outfield: CF Missile Crews, LF Ziggy Stardust, and RF Jay Gabby (injured in the offseason in a raider attack-will be back in late-April). For the Ninjas, they just missed out on the playoffs in 2312 by a game, but they are on a five-season streak of finishing above .500. They had made the playoffs the four seasons prior to 2312. Egret is an aging team, but it's core is still quite good. As it stands, Diamond City as the 4th seed is the biggest surprise. The Swatters last made the playoffs eight seasons ago when they used to be a force. Since then, they have turned over their roster and now have some new guys looking to make a name in the most important franchise in the CBO. People already know about RF Magnum Peaeye in the middle of the lineup and SP Paul Stains dominating on the mound when he gets run support. There will also be eyes on rookie SS Alex Bragman who arrived in a trade with Starlight that sent SP Phil Pearlman to the Killers among an array of prospects. In the least surprising prediction ever, PAM has picked 34-year-old 1B Barker Cocoa of University Point to win the Nuka Hitter Award. Players competing for 2nd place in the hitting race are LF Ken Debate (Jamaica Plain), LF Makin Jobear (FHE), CF Missile Crews (Goodneighbor), and 2B Slip Knotty (FHE). In the race for the Vim! Pitcher Award, the Swatters' Stains is expected to take the title. Other top contenders are SP Heaven Fontenot (Goodneighbor), SP Nuka Laloosh (Roxbury), SP Baker Dozen (FHE), and SP Ahsoka Tano (Oberland). CBO Top Players CBO Top Prospects CBO Top Systems

April 2313
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 21 April 2313 CBO Analysis The 2313 season has now completed its first two weeks of the regular season, and we are interested in what the full season will hold. Not only did PAM make some interesting predictions, but the start has shown us that this season may end up being completely unpredictable. We are going to approach the breakdown of the leagues with a full breakdown, including a team page look to put the full pulse on each team. We are going to try to mix up the featured teams with their place in the standings, but we also want to feature all 28 teams in the first seven updates. Here are the current team power rankings for Commonwealth Baseball Organization: Teams (Total Points, Tendency): 1) FHE Yao Guai (179.1, o) 2) Bunker Hill 75ers (143.4, o) 3) County Crossing Bloodbugs (129.6, o) 4) University Point Deathclaws (129.6, ++) 5) Glowing Sea Radscorpions (127.6, +) 6) Nordhagen Beach Party Boys (125.6, -) 7) Salem Witch Hats (125.1, ++) 8) Starlight Killers (116.7, ++) 9) Spectacle Island Reapers (114.7, --) 10) Atom Cats (110.7, o) 11) Goodneighbor Hancocks (105.9, +) 12) Quincy Gunners (99.8, --) 13) Vault 81 Dwellers (98.8, +) 14) Fort Hagen Silver Shroud (92.8, --) 15) Lexington Synths (86.2, ++) 16) The Slog Ghouls (83.2, -) 17) Diamond City Swatters (71.3, ++) 18) Jamaica Plain Red Rockets (71.3, ++) 19) Southie Brews (66.3, -) 20) Sunshine Tidings Chemists (66.3, -) 21) Cambridge Coursers (65.3, --) 22) Concord Radstags (64.3, --) 23) Oberland T-51s (63.3, --) 24) Roxbury Rad Sox (50.4, -) 25) Egret Ninjas (49.4, --) 26) Nahant Celtics (35.6, --) 27) Easy Town Assaultrons (31.6, -) 28) Malden Grognaks (18.7, o) Brotherhood League There is a two-way tie between the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys and County Crossing Bloodbugs. The Slog, Salem, and Nahant, predicted to be the top three teams in the standings, are currently 4th, 3rd, and tied for 5th, in that order. The Celtics are tied with Easy Town, while Malden has sole possession of 7th place. The Assaultrons, Celtics, and Grognaks are also all at the bottom of the CBO standings. The Boys are atop the Brotherhood League yet again. Yes, we know the season is young, but Nordhagen Beach is already doing great statistically, currently 4th in runs scored (82) and 6th in runs against (65). Rookie LF Slammin' Sammy Holloway (.340/6/15) has been the early team leader. Three other players hitting over .300 are CF Sting McGee (.327/0/6), LF Gorgeous DiGiacomo (.381/7), and 2B Pointie Shroud (.350/0/3). On the mound, the top three starters have all begun the season doing well: Beachboy Nut (2-1, 3.00), Deedee Martinson (1-0, 3.32), and Ugio Church (2-1, 4.72). CL Yank Daley (4 SV, 7.71) has struggled to get outs. Institute League It's not the defending champions holding the NCA's top record, but Bunker Hill at 10-3. After getting upset in the Wildcard Round last season, the 75ers are coming out hoping to create their own success. Starlight and Fort Hagen are the other two teams above .500 with Lexington alone in 4th and the three-way tie for 5th among Cambridge, Concord, and Sunshine Tidings. The 75ers are the premier offense to start the season, leading in runs scored (101) while allowing a lot of runs (71, 8th) in high-scoring affairs. The early star for Bunker Hill has been LF Kasumi Goto (.429/6/21) with additional power help from 1B Zod Gaycey (.282/5/15), SS Aaron Squire (.273/5/11), and 3B Cave Dweller Bourgeois (.304/4/20). Ace SP Jason Tonelli (1-0, 8.00) has struggled early on, though he has benefited from the high run support. SP Max Thunderdome (1-0, 2.95) and SP Hangman Alley (2-0, 3.78) have done quite a bit better. Minutemen League University Point has sprinted out to an early one-game lead over both Atom and Spectacle Island. Goodneighbor and Quincy are also above .500. Jamaica Plain and Southie are tied for last place. Both looked to be promising teams in the preseason, but have struggled to get wins to start 2313. The Reapers are a team still looking to find their true success on the island since moving from Warwick. If they are going to maintain success, they will need to build their statistical consistency better. Spectacle Island is 13th in runs scored (56) and tied for 6th in runs allowed (58), showing they are being outscored despite the winning record. The standout so far has been SS Nippy Ben Nippolt (.415/2/10), who, as a second-year player has outshined so far last year's top rookie, RF Esau Babz (.327/3/7). LF Hondo Ohnaka (.391/4/9) has also started out well. On the mound, ace SP Jalep Temper (2-0, 0.53) looks as though he wants a Vim! Pitcher Award. SP Brent Hooker (1-1, 3.86) and SP Josh Calvit (2-1, 3.31) have started well. CL Kelvin Brown (6 SV, 0.00) has been perfect thus far. Railroad League FHE has been nearly perfect, starting 12-1 with its sole loss coming last week at Roxbury. Glowing Sea and Vault 81 are the only two other teams above .500. Oberland, Diamond City, Egret, and Roxbury have all struggled early in the season. The Ninjas and Sox are tied for the SCA's worst record at 4-9. The Radscorpions are excited about their early start to the 2313 season at 9-4, tied for the 2nd-best record in the SCA. Currently, the Scorpions are 3rd in runs scored (84) and tied for 2nd in runs allowed (46). Two players are hitting above .400: RF Naga Arakaki (.431/7/23) and 3B Quay Swimmer (.429/4/12). Swimemr and Arakaki have now each won the SCA Player of the Week in the first two weeks, as we will feature below. At an average of 1.77 RBI per game, Arakaki is on pace for 230 RBI, which would shatter Barker Cocoa's record of 155. On the mound, all four starters have ERAs below 4.00: Tony Vampire Frazier (1-0, 2.04), Ryan Dennislynch (3-0, 2.25), Oliver Oil (1-0, 3.14), and Swimmer (0-1, 3.26). In the bullpen, both RP Thrifty Tony Malacara (1-0, 0.00) and Mar Gotfenning (0-0, 0.00) have been efficient in over 10.0 combined innings. CBO Standings CBO Players of the Week April 14 - Family Sam Partridge has the tools to stick in this league for many years. The 24-year-old left fielder of the Sunshine Tidings Chemists had a hot bat in the North Charles Association over the past seven days and won the Player of the Week honors. Partridge batted .448 with 13 hits in 29 at-bats, 4 home runs and 11 RBIs. All week long Quay Swimmer was the talk of the South Charles Association... his name and face were everywhere. So it was no surprise to anyone when he was chosen the South Charles Association's Player of the Week for his exceptional performance. Swimmer put up a solid set of stats, compiling a .600 average (12-for-20) and contributing 4 home runs and 11 RBIs to claim the honor. April 21 - Clean Jack Spratt has the tools to stick in this league for many years. The 23-year-old left fielder of the Cambridge Coursers had a hot bat in the North Charles Association over the past seven days and won the Player of the Week honors. Spratt batted .524 with 11 hits in 21 at-bats, 6 home runs and 8 RBIs. One of the league's most exciting young players, Naga Arakaki of the Glowing Sea Radscorpions earned himself South Charles Association Player of the Week honors with a standout performance in last week's games. For the week the 20-year-old right fielder had a lofty .545 average (12-for-22), collecting 5 home runs, 15 RBIs and 9 runs scored. CBO Noteworthy News April 7 - The County Crossing franchise has begun a marketing study to determine if their brand, team name, and colors are effective. Team officials have stated that the team is exploring possibilities in changing the team name in some way though there is no expectation of a decision before 2314 if there are changes. April 10 - Glenn Higinbotham reached the 2000-hit mark today. Starlight's 35-year-old left fielder received a standing ovation from Starlight Killers and Lexington Synths fans alike. On the day, Higinbotham went 4-for-5 in the Killers 13-2 victory. In his career, Higinbotham is batting .283 with 2002 hits, 324 home runs, 1280 runs scored and 1004 RBIs. April 16 - After the game the Starlight Killers outstanding reliever Justin Wilkerson celebrated his 300th-career save by reminiscing about his first save. "I remember it clearly. I was a rookie and the last one standing in the bullpen in an extra-inning game. Our staff was worn to a frazzle and was desperate for a pitcher. So they put me in. I faced four batters, rung up the victory and took the first step toward 300 saves." The 34-year-old Wilkerson got number 300 by preserving the Killers 5-4 win over the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud. Wilkerson has 300 saves over his career with a 49-68 record and a 3.55 ERA. April 21 - Which pitchers are leading the Commonwealth Baseball Organization in career wins? May 2313
Shout out to SP Ryan Dennislynch of Glowing Sea. In 2311, he was featured for starting out his career something like 0-20!
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 1 May 2313 The May Super Post, Part 1 CBO Players of the Month NCA Hitter - It's perhaps an award he'll win many more times through his career, as at age 20 Naga Arakaki has a lot of baseball ahead of him. But for now the young Glowing Sea Radscorpions star can enjoy the numbers he put up in April, which have garnered him the nod as the South Charles Association Batter of the Month. His breakout month featured a .361 average with 11 home runs, 31 RBIs and 23 runs scored. SCA Hitter - It's perhaps an award he'll win many more times through his career, as at age 20 Naga Arakaki has a lot of baseball ahead of him. But for now the young Glowing Sea Radscorpions star can enjoy the numbers he put up in April, which have garnered him the nod as the South Charles Association Batter of the Month. His breakout month featured a .361 average with 11 home runs, 31 RBIs and 23 runs scored. NCA Pitcher - Last month's cream of the crop on the mound was Hangman Alley of the Bunker Hill 75ers. He captured the North Charles Association Pitcher of the Month award for his outstanding performance in April. Alley started 6 games, threw 36 innings, yielded 37 hits and logged a 5-0 record. He put down 29 batters on strikes, walked 14 and compiled a 3.00 ERA. Opposing teams batted .268 against him. SCA Pitcher - When Ryan Dennislynch takes the mound, a Glowing Sea victory is usually the result. At least that's the way it was in April. He excelled with a 4-0 mark and a 2.63 ERA in 0 starts, tossed 37.2 innings, fanned 21 and held opposing batters to a .227 average. That's why the Radscorpions starter was honored today as the Pitcher of the Month by the South Charles Association. NCA Rookie - Jack of Diamonds Cordero earned April's Rookie of the Month honors in addition to his Batter of the Month honors in the North Charles Association for last month's performance. The boyish Malden second baseman might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level. The 2nd-overall pick in the 2312 Rookie Draft, Cordero hit .296 with 11 home runs, 28 RBIs and 15 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award. SCA Rookie - Alloy Jordan is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest South Charles Association Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers. In April the Glowing Sea hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .274 average with 23 hits, 3 home runs and 13 RBIs. CBO's Top Performances Hitter - Naga Arakaki, Glowing Sea, April 18 at Sunshine Tidings - 4/5, 3 HR, 4 R, 6 RBI - With a 113 score in the performances grades, Arakaki set the Radscorpions' single-game home runs record and tied the team record for runs scored in a game. Pitcher - D.P. Clark, Diamond City, April 13 at Glowing Sea - 9.0 IP, 1 H, 2 BB, 3 K - Clark dominated the Radscorpions in a 1-0 victory for the Swatters. With one of three complete-game shutouts in the CBO in April, Clark is the only of the three to hold the opponents to under four runs, thus giving him the top performance score of 86. CBO Statistical Standouts Average - .458 - 3B Shane Stabb, Atom - He may be 36 years old, but the Cats' Stabb continues to show how solid he is for the franchise, up .056 points on the CBO's next-best hitter in RF Wee Willy Warrington (.402) of University Point. RBI - 31 - RF Naga Arakaki, Glowing Sea - We focused on Arakaki's record RBI space in our bi-weekly update. With 31 RBI in 22 games, his 200+ pace has slowed, but he is still on pace to shatter the record of 155 with a current pace to 183. OBP - .535 - RF Baywatch Fischler, Quincy - Another 30-plusser, Fischler is getting it done in the batter's box to help his team as much as possible every time he gets up to bat. SLG - .896 - LF Clean Jack Spratt, Cambridge - Spratt has more than a .100 point advantage on the next best slugger, Arakaki (.795). ERA - 0.66 - SP Jalep Temper, Spectacle Island - He may not have won the Pitcher of the Month Award, but Temper (2-1, 0.66) has been dominant, losing his one game in a 1-0 pitcher's duel. There is bound to be a shellacking at some point that changes this ERA, but Temper has been dominant in the first month of the season. ERA+ - 715 - SP Jalep Temper, Spectacle Island - Not only is he dominating the ERA, but Temper has a 340-point advantage on the CBO's next best pitcher in this category, SP Baker Dozen of FHE (375). This shows that Temper's month was extra special and perhaps better than the pick of the 75ers' Alley. NEBL Analysis After the first month of the season and the history of the league, the competition at the highest minor league has been fierce with a lot of outstanding performances. At this point, division leaders are the Everett Mutant Hounds (Maine), Abernathy Adamantium (Vershire), Fall River Rippers (Mass), and Natick Big Leaguers (Connri). NEBL Players of the Month PL Hitter - Aaron Wright has a lot going for him. The Everett left fielder just broke into the majors this year and now the Patriot League has just picked him as its top hitter for April. In 21 games last month this outstanding rookie batted .375 with 8 home runs, 17 RBIs and 20 runs scored. YL Hitter - Weston DeGurlz may be much younger than other hitters in the Yankee League, but he performed like a seasoned veteran in April to win the Batter of the Month award. The 23-year-old Fall River right fielder hit .423 with 5 home runs, 12 RBIs and 14 runs scored. PL Pitcher - Corey Ware really tore up the Patriot League this past month. He went 5-0 in April and won the Pitcher of the Month award. In 5 starts he struck out 46 in 45 innings with a 1.00 ERA. PL Pitcher - Corey Ware really tore up the Patriot League this past month. He went 5-0 in April and won the Pitcher of the Month award. In 5 starts he struck out 46 in 45 innings with a 1.00 ERA. YL Pitcher - The Yankee League announced today that Zane Blaze has been chosen the league's Pitcher of the Month. The Fall River starter had everything working for him last month as he glided to a 6-0 record. In April Blaze chalked up a 1.74 ERA in 46.2 innings with 35 strikeouts and 11 walks. MML Analysis Now the CBO's AA affiliate league, young players are trying to battle their way up to the CBO this year or next. The current division leaders are the Covenant Refractors (Wade Boggs), Sanctuary Hills Zetans (Matt Murtagh), Hull Lead Bellies (Ted Williams), and Newton Behemoths (Carl Yastrzemski). MML Players of the Month LL Hitter - For a rookie just breaking in, Ramon Gill certainly put together a successful month. It was good enough to win the LL Batter of the Month award for April. The 21-year-old left fielder for the Covenant Refractors hit .392 with 13 home runs, 29 RBIs and 17 runs scored. SL Hitter - Not known for his offensive prowess, Doorbell Arg set the league afire in April and took home the Stars League Batter of the Month award. The Hull center fielder posted a steady .370 batting average, 15 home runs, 30 RBIs and 26 runs. LL Pitcher - The Pitcher of the Month Award has been announced and the Legends League winner is Tenpines Bluff hurler, Seymour Kimahri. For his standout performances in April he has been named the league's best pitcher. During the month, Kimahri excelled with a 2.68 ERA and 4 wins and 1 loss. In 40.1 innings he struck out 44 and gave up 29 hits and 4 walks. SL Pitcher - Nash Vil of Newton had an award-winning April as he took home the Stars League Pitcher of the Month award. "He told me once people used to make fun of the way he pitches," Vil's pitching coach told reporters. "There wasn't anybody laughing in April except for Nash." Vil was all business when he took the mound though, collecting a 5-0 record in 6 starts. He struck out 40 batters in 44.2 innings and kept opponents to a .208 batting average. BMU Analysis Now the Single-A affiliate of the CBO, the BMU is now the league where the better young players try to refine their skills and learn new positions, skills, and pitches. Current league leaders are the Lynn Woods Bloatflies (Dark Hollow Pond), Outpost Zimonja Strongbacks (Cambridge), DB Tech Nuclear Physicists (Downtown Boston), and Eastlake Aquaboys and Westing Estate Alphas (Glowing Sea). BMU Players of the Month CA Hitter - Johan Honus made his presence known as one of the best young stars in the Commonwealth Association this past month. The Sandy Coves Freaks first baseman shined through the month of April and has won the Batter of the Month award. The 19-year-old hit .355 with 14 home runs, 28 RBIs and 18 runs scored. MA Hitter - When Matt Paydirt stepped up to the plate in April he did it with confidence, and today he was honored with the Massachusetts Association Batter of the Month award. The young Somerville Place left fielder posted a .406 batting average with 9 home runs, 23 RBIs and scored 24 runs. Paydirt also worked pitchers for 11 walks to post a .494 on-base percentage. CA Pitcher - The top pitcher this past month in the Commonwealth Association was Meribrand Docybuck of the Union Hope Lifegivers. He really bewildered league hitters, finishing April with an excellent 3-0 record and 3.21 ERA. The Lifegivers hurler made 5 starts and surrendered 24 hits in 28 innings. He struck out 22 and walked 8. MA Pitcher - Dobby Wainwright was on cloud nine the entire month of April, capping it off with the Massachusetts Association Pitcher of the Month honors. The Scrap Palace starter was spectacular in 5 starting assignments with 3 wins and 1 loss, 30.1 innings pitched, 24 strikeouts and a fine 1.19 ERA. GBRL Analysis Still the CBO's lowest minor league, the GBRL is meant to figure out which of the youngest players can build themselves up from draftee or free agent signing to a player one day ready for the CBO. The competition here is the fiercest as players are fighting for their baseball future. Current division leaders are the Augusta Harpooners (Northeast), Brattleboro Collectors (Northwest), Woonsocket Orphans (Southeast), and New Britain Oceanics (Southwest). GBRL Players of the Month NL Hitter - Oslaf Skaal is not used to being associated with Batter of the Month-caliber players, but today the Beantown left fielder joined that select company when the North League announced the results of April's voting. Skaal totaled 20 hits, 30 walks, 11 home runs, 18 RBIs and 30 runs scored last month to put together a .345 batting average and .576 on-base percentage. SL Hitter - At only 19 years of age, Raul Strikes could very well have many more months like this last one during his career. That would be great news for fans of the New Britain Oceanics, as April was one to remember for the first baseman and he has captured the South League Batter of the Month award. On the month he hit .500 with 6 home runs, 18 RBIs and 18 runs scored. NL Pitcher - The Augusta Harpooners celebrated today after the news filtered through the clubhouse that Ag Jurati had been selected as April's North League Pitcher of the Month. Jurati's zest for the game has been a frequent topic on the sports pages and his numbers of late have made his fans even more enthusiastic. "Our coaching staff really helps me prepare well," Jurati said, "and the fans feed off good pitching. Your pitches just seem to have that extra pop to them when the fans are behind you and you feel confident you can get outs." Jurati tossed 27.2 innings last month, holding opponents to a .175 average while striking out 30 batters. In 1 starting assignments he came away with a 4-0 record, putting together an ERA of 1.95. SL Pitcher - No doubt about it! New Britain starter Black Red earned his South League Pitcher of the Month award. He made that very clear as he mowed his way through league hitters in April. During the month Red chalked up a 3-0 record with a 1.96 ERA. The Oceanics star made 5 starts and surrendered 26 hits in 36.2 innings. He struck out 40 and walked 10.

Conference Leaders: BCAC - z-Northeastern MassCon - WNEU SoComm - ECSU Northeastern University, at 40-7, has already clinched a playoff spot and has a five-game lead over Winthrop College with 13 to play. The Western New England University (WNEU) Statesmen are also atop their conference by five games over Nuka University. The Statesmen have the CCBL's second-best record. In the new and struggling Southern Commonwealth Conference, East Connecticut State University (ECSU) is ahead of the University of Connecticut by two games with the Warriors five games below .500 but still the 3rd seed heading into the playoffs if they started today. Here are the wildcard standings with the current teams in if the postseason started today: CCBL Players of the Month Hitter - Assumption second baseman Stud Colgan took home the Commonwealth Collegiate Baseball League Batter of the Month Trophy for April. Thus far this season in 46 games, Colgan is batting .447 with 17 home runs, 48 RBIs and 56 runs scored. He has 72 hits in 161 at-bats. Pitcher - The hottest hurler in the Commonwealth Collegiate Baseball League last month was Bullets Barnes of the Northeastern Huskies. He caught the attention of everybody in the league with some eye-catching stats, good enough to win the CCBL Pitcher of the Month. In April, Barnes starred with an impressive 6-0 record. In 7 starts he gave up 49 base hits and struck out 37 in 50 innings with a 1.80 ERA. So far this season, Barnes has a 11-0 record with a 2.07 ERA. CYL Analysis The CYL is near its regular season end with teams having 12 or 13 remaining games. At this time, no teams have clinched a playoff berth, though some teams are close. Still the lowest Magic # to clinch a division or wildcard berth is 8. Current division leaders are as follows: Franklin - Needham Radstorm and Sudbury Celebs Emerson - Lynn Pier Gamers Fuller - Saugus Launchers Revere - Boston Common Baby Bellies DuBois - Newburyport Cubs and Rockport Seafarers Adams - Hope Firestarters Alcott - Andrew Station Southies Morse - Taunton Giants Attucks - Chatham Lighthouse Hancock - Old Lyme Lake Monsters Looking at the wildcard leaders, non-division leaders in the playoff hunt include the CIT Academy Yahoos, Beerthirty Sippers, Covenant Dandy Boys, Circle Jerks, and Marblehead Mess in the North Region and the Swansea Nuka Sox, Wareham Comets, Dennis Menaces, Kingstown Royals, Freeplat Wicked Goods, Plymouth Hunters, and Weymouth Locksmiths in the South Region. CYL Players of the Month NR Hitter - Plum Island Candymen fans may just have witnessed a star player blossoming before their eyes in April. No Neck Lok put up a remarkable month at the age of 16 and has been named the North Region Batter of the Month. For the month, Lok hit .414 with 15 home runs, 35 RBIs and 26 runs scored. Lok currently has a .353 batting average with 47 hits, 20 homers, 46 RBIs, 37 runs scored and a .470 OBP. SR Hitter - Even though he is a newcomer to Commonwealth Youth League, Darby O'Doherty put up some good numbers in April and earned the SR Batter of the Month award. He was one of Nuka Academy's offensive leaders with a .470 average in 23 games. He also racked up 11 home runs, 22 RBIs, and 31 runs scored. In 2313 O'Doherty has hit at a .451 clip with 60 hits, 19 home runs, 35 RBIs and has scored 46 times. NR Pitcher - The North Region scribes have picked April's Pitcher of the Month and have given the trophy to Bubs Tentsleep of CIT Academy. He was devastating on the mound last month with a standout 5-0 mark. The Yahoos star hurler made 5 starts with a 1.93 ERA and surrendered 20 hits in 37.1 innings. He struck out 33 and walked 10. For the year, Tentsleep has a 7-2 record with a 3.03 ERA in 9 starts. SR Pitcher - Big Dog Monaghan of the Jamaica Plain Treasures is the South Region Pitcher of the Month. In April, he sparkled and shined on the mound with 6 wins and no losses in 6 starts. Monaghan checked opposing batters on 50 base hits and a .272 batting average. He rang up 52 strikeouts in 47.1 innings of work, surrendered 11 walks and fashioned a 1.90 ERA. In 10 starts this season, Monaghan has registered a 7-2 record and a 2.21 ERA.

Season Pass Association
---------------------------------------------------------- Nuka News Update Reporting on the NWL, APL, NWLR, and BBL Leagues by Evan Guy 5 May 2313 PAM's Picks in 15th NWL Season As we enter our 15th NWL season, the excitement for the new season abounds while the anxiety of the changes in the NWL and the Season Pass Association has people abuzz. Looking at the history of the NWL, with Cherry's championship last season, the Ghoulrillas are now tied with Victory for the most titles (4). With two championships, Quantum is the only other team with more than one. Grape, Orange, Quartz, and Wild have all won one championship, and Dark has not won any with only one appearance in the Nuka Series. This season, PAM predicts that Cherry and the Cave Crickets will battle it out in the Nuka Series for the right to win a fifth championship. PAM has the Ghoulrillas (53-37) finishing with the best record, followed by a tie by the Cave Crickets and Orange (49-41) for the second-best record. Grape (38-52) is predicted to have the NWL's worst record. In the battle for top hitters in the NWL, Cherry's LF Everlast Barron is expected to win the award. Other competitors include Wild 2B Bubba Shrimp, Ghoulrillas 2B Tick Garrett, Victory 2B Due Crymes, and Dark 3B Curt Toth. RF Genius Jerry Kordic of Cherry was the 2312 winner. Toth (2310) and Shrimp (2311) were the two winners before Kordic. Ah Oona of Grape had won the previous four seasons (2306-2309). On the mound, Quartz's SP Shady Sand is the expected winner. Other contenders are SP Fick Aragvsky of Cherry, SP Tumble Viera of the Nukalurks, and SPs Melvin Teacup and Mucky Timmons of Victory. Last season, Quantum SP Cameron Biehler was the Nuka Cannon Award winner. The previous three in descending order are Viera (2311), Ed Homestead of Dark (2310), and Steven Nebraska of Grape (2309). Looking at another area of interest, it's time to publish the annual BNN Top 100 Prospects list. This year, 21 year-old RHP Fastball Freddie Kingston of the Wild Gatorclaws is the #1 prospect overall. Here is the top 10: 1) RHP Fastball Freddie Kingston, 21, Wild Gatorclaws 2) 1B Baby Bull Cepeda, 20, Grape Painted Ghouls 3) 1B Coal Weedeater, 23, Wild Gatorclaws 4) 2B Waggs McBiskitt, 24, Victory Cave Crickets 5) 3B Radfish Hunter, 20, Orange Tourists 6) LF Treetime Wilcox, 23, Quantum Nukalurks 7) RHP Alex Branch, 23, Cherry Ghoulrillas 8) LHP Petyr Littlefinger, 19, Dark Bloodworms 9) 1B Vern Turnburner, 19, Quartz Star Force 10) 2B Lakehouse Calculator, 24, Victory Cave Crickets Finally, for the 50-man minor league rosters in the new one affiliate system, these are the affiliates in the Amusement Park League for each team: Cherry - Grandchester Flying Ants Dark - Nuka Plant Electrics Grape - Red Rocket Radrats Orange - Dunmore Ferris Wheels Quantum - Nuka Bottling Plant Pack Quartz - Galactic Zone G-Force Victory - Nuka Jolly Elves Wild - Junkyard Space Cadets Vim! View Veracious, Vivacious, Vainglorious Vision of the Vim! Leagues by Vikky Vail 5 May 2313 Echo Lake, Far Harbor Expected to Battle for Vim! Series Crown In what is expected to be a tight race to the finish, PAM has tagged both the Echo Lake Harbormen and Far Harbor Ghoul Whales to win their divisions and compete in the 2313 Vim! Series. From there, PAM has the Harbormen winning their fourth championship and second in three years. The Harbormen trail only Dalton Farm (4) in number of championships. Other multi-championship teams are Grand Hotel and National Park. The Gulpers won their second last season. Far Harbor won the first championship in 2301 but has gone 0-5 since in the Vim! Series. Acadia, Cranberry Isle, and Eden Meadows have neither won a championship- nor appeared in the Vim! Series in the first 12 seasons of the league. Looking more closely at PAM's picks, the Anglers are expected to keep it tight with the Harbormen, picked just two games back in the battle of 50-win teams. The Ghoul Whales are expected to have an even tighter race, picked to best the Atoms by a game. Dalton Farm is expected to be at the bottom of the standings. For top picks in the hitter race, Far Harbor has two players competing for the Vim! MVP Award: 1B Hazmatt Zuniga and RF Adam Crewmate. Other competitors are Eden Meadow's 1B Gyro Olly, RF Chris Knickerbocker of Echo Lake, and the Ghoul Whales' CF Teig O'Kane. Bobba Fette of Cranberry Island was the surprise winner last season. Knickerbocker won the award the season before that. The Harbormen's SP Jason Woods is the pick to win his fifth Vim! Top Arm Award. Other competitors are Phil Cecil of Dalton Farm, Wearya Going of Acadia, Kap Kooke of the Ghoul Whales, and Steady Mike Holmes of the Anglers. Kooke was last season's winner. Woods won the three prior years and four of the five seasons from 2307-2311. The minor league season is about to start, so it's time to publish the annual BNN Top 100 Prospects list. This year, 20 year-old 1B Terrific George Seaver of the Eden Meadows Anglers is the #1 prospect overall. Here is the top 10: 1) 1B Terrific George Seaver, 20, Eden Meadows Anglers 2) 1B Bobby Packer, 20, Echo Lake Harbormen 3) LF Cori Smuh, 22, Grand Hotel Atoms 4) 1B Big Ticket Garnett, 20, Eden Meadows Anglers 5) 1B Camp Buddy, 20, National Park Gulpers 6) LF Maygun Topaloglu, 20, Dalton Farm Fog Crawlers 7) RHP Dolf Steak, 25, Eden Meadows Anglers 8) RHP Meden Maren, 19, Acadia Acadians 9) LF Brutto Bronson, 19, National Park Gulpers 10) 1B Corey Perryman, 23, Far Harbor Ghoul Whales With the rearrangement of minor leagues, Vim! May 2313
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 5 May 2313 CBO Analysis We are now a month into the 2313 season, and already we have teams emerging as powers while others are fading away. With most teams playing 26 games, 16 seems to be the magic win number right now for teams doing well with just seven teams in the CBO winning 16 or more games with 20 indicating the most. Likewise, only six teams have lost 16 or more games with 20 being the maximum. Here are the current team power rankings for Commonwealth Baseball Organization: Teams (Total Points, Tendency): 1) FHE Yao Guai (144.4, o) 2) Bunker Hill 75ers (136.6, o) 3) Vault 81 Dwellers (130.4, +) 4) County Crossing Bloodbugs (126.7, ++) 5) Lexington Synths (119.7, ++) 6) University Point Deathclaws (115.7, o) 7) Atom Cats (112.7, -) 8) Glowing Sea Radscorpions (102.9, --) 9) Salem Witch Hats (100.8, +) 10) The Slog Ghouls (96.8, +) 11) Fort Hagen Silver Shroud (95.8, +) 12) Starlight Killers (91.8, --) 13) Concord Radstags (91.0, +) 14) Diamond City Swatters (90.0, -) 15) Nahant Celtics (86.2, ++) 16) Nordhagen Beach Party Boys (82.0, -) 17) Goodneighbor Hancocks (81.4, o) 18) Egret Ninjas (79.1, ++) 19) Southie Brews (79.1, ++) 20) Jamaica Plain Red Rockets (78.1, ++) 21) Oberland T-51s (76.1, -) 22) Spectacle Island Reapers (72.1, -) 23) Sunshine Tidings Chemists (66.3, o) 24) Quincy Gunners (59.3, --) 25) Roxbury Rad Sox (58.3, +) 26) Cambridge Coursers (56.8, --) 27) Easy Town Assaultrons (50.4, o) 28) Malden Grognaks (40.6, o) Brotherhood League County Crossing is on a five-game winning streak and has gone 7-3 in their last 10 to give themselves a little distance in the BL, while Nordhagen Beach is 2-8 in its last 10 to drop to 4th place. Salem and The Slog join the Bugs as the only teams above .500. Nahant is approaching .500, but Easy Town and Malden look to be out of the race already with the CBO's 27th and 28th-best records. The Grognaks had no hopes of making the playoffs coming into the season, but they did expect to finish around .400. With a current .231 winning percentage, Malden would hold the #1 overall spot in the draft. While that may help them land one of Stonehill College's 2B/SS Finnan Hunt or Northeastern University's 3B Donovan Mackey with the 1st overall pick, it does nothing for 2313. The Grognaks are 13th in runs scored (104) and runs allowed (166). Rookie 3B Jack of Diamonds Cordero (.297/11/29), the 2nd overall pick in the 2312 draft, a surprise that Glowing Sea did not draft with the #1 pick, has been the sole gem on the offense. 1B Andy Stamey (.352/2/10) and 2B Breha Queen (.320/0/5) have both had some hits. On the mound, CL Sanfer Annsiskow (5 SV, 1.04) has been the best pitcher on staff. SP Tyler Whitestag (2-3, 4.07) has been the best starter and only with a sub 6.00 ERA. Justin Horton (1-4, 8.62) has been moved to the bullpen. Institute League Bunker Hill has done what it needs to do to maintain their league lead and hold the NCA's top record by two games over the Bloodbugs. Lexington has been hot, winning three straight and 8 of 10 to hold the 2nd spot at just three games back. Starlight and Fort Hagen are just above .500. Concord, Sunshine Tidings, and Cambridge hold the final three spots. The Synths are playing above their heads early in the season, but that has excited a fanbase that has not seen much success in franchise history having never made the playoffs in the full CBO history. Right now, they are 9th in runs scored (121) and 10th in runs against (134), yet they have the NCA's third-best record. We call that a statistical anomaly, but also an indicator that it is only a matter of time before they falter and start sliding down the standings. As of now, C Danny Enfryz (.351/5/20) has been their most successful hitter with some help from RF Speedy Bugg (.295/6/16) and 1B Eugene Jeep (.283/2/9). On the mound, three starters are doing well: Chase Wede (5-2, 2.79), Aaron Somer (2-1, 2.75), and Kent Rothschild (3-1, 3.56). CL Hunter Kim (8 SV, 2.02) has pitched well out of the bullpen. Minutemen League The ML is a two-team race early with University Point and Atom tied atop the league, while no other team is currently above .500. Goodneighbor, Jamaica Plain, Spectacle Island, Southie, and Quincy are all packed together with just two games separating 3rd from 7th place. Atom is ready to return to the postseason and may have the squad to get there. The Cats are 3rd in runs scored (151) and tied for 5th in runs allowed (117). Longtime franchise standard, 3B Shane Stabb (.429/4/13) has had an amazing start to the season in his 18th season. Other offensive stars have been 1B Actually Aucoin (.307/6/24), RF Candy Kline (.311/5/22), and CF Hickory Dockery (.276/7/17). On the mound, the first two starters, Doug Creep (5-2, 3.40) and Mesquite Williams (3-3, 2.97), have been setting the pace for the team. There has not been a whole lot to speak of in the bullpen, but Melvin Terminator has pitched 10.1 innings with just a 0.87 ERA. Railroad League FHE was flying high but struggled a little recently to hold the CBO's top record by just one game over Bunker Hill. Vault 81 has been a tiny bit better in their last 10, going 8-2, to sit just 2.5 games back. Glowing Sea is still an early success in 3rd place, ending the number of teams above .500. That means Diamond City at 13-13 would be in the playoffs if they started today. Fifth through seventh is Egret, Oberland, and Roxbury, all somewhat surprises in their current state. For the Rad Sox, they may have hit a wall, or they may have just had some early-season bad luck. Right now, the Sox are 9th in runs scored (123) and tied for 12th in runs allowed (156). Ranking 14th in home runs with just 18, Roxbury has not been able to use power to generate runs. 1B Bullet Minnow (.273/4/16) leads in homers. C Ayag Mour (.316/0/13) has the top average on the team. On the mound, the only starter doing well is Urm Rehfeldt (3-1, 3.19). SP Nuke Laloosh (2-3, 4.75) may be on the permanent downswing. CL Professor Harriel has yet to pitch this season with an injury, though he should be back before the end of the month. Roxbury all-time saves leader, Josh Samm (358) has taken on the role in Harriel's absence, having two saves and a 3.86 ERA. CBO Standings CBO Players of the Week April 28 - Jack of Diamonds Cordero has the tools to stick in this league for many years. The 21-year-old third baseman of the Malden Grognaks had a hot bat in the North Charles Association over the past seven days and won the Player of the Week honors. Cordero batted .391 with 9 hits in 23 at-bats, 6 home runs and 12 RBIs. On the season, Cordero is batting .286 with 9 home runs and 23 RBIs. He has played in 20 games. Pitchers who faced the Vault 81 Dwellers last week were happy to see Chris Connexx in the rear-view mirror. The 32-year-old first baseman was dubbed the South Charles Association Player of the Week for a 5-game tear that saw him hit at a .500 clip. For the week he also chalked up 10 hits in 20 at-bats, 4 home runs, 5 RBIs and 8 runs scored. At the moment, Connexx is hitting .321 with 7 home runs and 15 RBIs. He has played in 16 games and scored 16 times. May 5 - A hot-hitting week got Aaron Squire the North Charles Association Player of the Week trophy. He really wore out his welcome with league pitchers. The Bunker Hill shortstop slammed them for a .526 average, 10 hits in 19 at-bats, 2 home runs, 5 RBIs and scored 5 runs. In the postgame press conference, Squire shared his hitting philosophy with the BNN scribes: "Just look for the seams and hit between them... nothin' more than that." This season, Squire has banged out 29 hits in 90 at-bats for a .322 average with 7 home runs. He is getting on base at a .404 pace and his totals also include 19 RBIs and 19 runs scored. At the age of 28, Ken Debate might have some potential he hasn't realized yet -- if his success at the plate last week is any indication. The Jamaica Plain left fielder put up some exceptional numbers the past seven days with a .522 batting average. For his efforts Debate collected the South Charles Association Player of the Week Award. He racked up 12 hits in 23 at-bats, 3 home runs and 6 RBIs last week in 6 games. So far this year, Debate is batting .388 with 7 home runs. CBO Noteworthy News April 22 - Sources close to the Spectacle Island Reapers report that second baseman Bubb Islander will retire once the season is over. To date Islander has a .279 career batting average and has totaled 42 home runs. April 23 - Some days everything just falls in place. It all came together for Jig McGhee and the Bunker Hill 75ers at Battle of Bunker Hill Memorial Stadium. The 75ers went home winners and the center fielder had a 4-for-4 day that included the cycle, a baseball rarity. "He sure was a wrecking ball today," said Bunker Hill manager Nick Radio following his club's 14-2 taming of the Atom Cats. Jig McGhee singled in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Doug Creep in the 2nd, hit a three-run double in the 4th, hit an RBI triple in the 5th and walked in the 7th. This year, McGhee has socked 23 hits in 61 at-bats for a .377 average with 3 home runs. He is getting on base at a .451 pace and his totals also include 15 RBIs and 21 runs scored. BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 19 May 2313 CBO Analysis With teams reaching the 38-game mark, marking the 30% point of the season, very few teams have emerged as "dominant." In fact, the CBO hs just two teams--Vault 81 (28) and FHE (26)--with more than 25 wins. The same goes for 25 losses in Malden (26) and Easy Town (27). The rest of the CBO can be considered jumbled for now with 17 of the CBO's 28 teams in the .400-.599 winning percentage range. Here are the current team power rankings for Commonwealth Baseball Organization: Teams (Total Points, Tendency): 1) Vault 81 Dwellers (142.7, +) 2) FHE Yao Guai (120.1, -) 3) Atom Cats (119.8, +) 4) County Crossing Bloodbugs (116.8, -) 5) Starlight Killers (111.2, ++) 6) Bunker Hill 75ers (107.9, +) 7) Salem Witch Hats (105.2, -) 8) The Slog Ghouls (104.2, -) 9) Goodneighbor Hancocks (100.7, ++) 10) Glowing Sea Radscorpions (100.5, -) 11) Fort Hagen Silver Shroud (95.7, +) 12) University Point Deathclaws (94.5, -) 13) Oberland T-51s (94.0, +) 14) Jamaica Plain Red Rockets (93.0, +) 15) Lexington Synths (90.7, --) 16) Spectacle Island Reapers (90.0, --) 17) Southie Brews (89.3, +) 18) Egret Ninjas (74.8, ++) 19) Nahant Celtics (74.8, +) 20) Diamond City Swatters (74.5, --) 21) Concord Radstags (73.5, o) 22) Sunshine Tidings Chemists (73.1, +) 23) Nordhagen Beach Party Boys (72.5, --) 24) Quincy Gunners (67.1, -) 25) Roxbury Rad Sox (65.2, -) 26) Cambridge Coursers (62.2, o) 27) Malden Grognaks (60.9, +) 28) Easy Town Assaultrons (47.0, -) Brotherhood League County Crossing has current control of the league, though both Salem and The Slog sit at just two games back. The rest of the league is below .500, led by Nordhagen Beach in 4th place on a four-game losing streak and a 3-7 mark in their last 10. Nahant, Malden, and Easy Town round out the league with both the Grognaks and Assaultrons currently battling for the CBO's worst record. The Bloodbugs are back near the top after their thrilling run to win the BL in 2312. This year, the Bugs are currently in control of the NCA's top record with the 4th-best scoring offense (202) and 3rd-best scoring defense (158). On offense, four-time Nuka Hitter Award winner, Babs Rooth (.336/9/28) is the unquestioned leader. Others assisting in success include 1B Plain Morris (.303/7/21), SS Cy Thompson (.295/8/25), and 2B Yoink Yukon (.318/4/18). On the mound, the top two starters have been dominant in runs allowed, with College Luckyman (6-2, 3.09) getting run support but not Gavin Eviritts (2-5, 2.76). In the bullpen, former closer Jessie Bibeault (1-0, 2.70) and former UP closer Willie Lule (1-0, 1.59) have had the most success. Institute League Bunker Hill had control of both the IL and NCA just two weeks ago, but a 4-6 string now makes them one back of County Crossing for the NCA's top record and just one game up on Starlight for the IL lead. Fort Hagen and Lexington are both 20-18, putting them in the heat of the league race. Concord, Sunshine Tidings, and Cambridge round out the rest of the IL. For the Chemists, they were on a nine-game playoff streak from 2303-2311, including five consecutive IL crowns from 2304-2308. In 2312, they missed the playoffs, and now they sit just one game up from Cambridge for last place despite having some talent. Currently, Sunshine Tidings is 7th in runs scored (179) and 14th in runs allowed (239). On offense, they have the two-headed monster in LF Family Sam Partridge (.326/10/23) and 1B Lone Wolf Leo Gamma-Ray (.322/10/23). C Red Jay Jones (.260/10/14) and 3B Ross Merchantman (.280/9/22) have also contributed. Pitching has been pretty bad, thus the terrible record. Ace Eugene Gym (2-4, 6.75) is really struggling, but so is Tiger Fanne (3-4, 5.40), Sheng Kawolski (0-4, 7.13), and Matt Gatekeeper (0-2, 6.97). Minutemen League Atom has jumped out to a three-game lead, the CBO's largest, thanks to a 7-3 mark in their last 10, while University Point went 3-7 in the same stretch. Goodneighbor is the only other team above .500 with Jamaica Plain and Spectacle Island tied for 4th at 19-19. Southie is just one game back of them, while Quincy sits alone at the bottom of the ML. The Brews thought they were on to something this preseason. Getting all the way to the Nuka Cup Preseason Tournament semifinals before succumbing to Vault 81, Southie thought the 2313 season could be something different. At 18-20, they are not terrible, but they still would need to get hot to get into the heart of the ML race. Currently, the Brews are tied for 10th in runs scored (175) and 5th in runs allowed (173). The top half of the lineup has seen the most success in hits, but Southie is 13th in home runs (29). 1B Fairlane Ford (.322/7/31) is the all-around leader, including tops in homers and RBI. 3B Sonny Pacino (.357/2/14) is the best hitter, while 2B Grill Atomson (.300/2/13) and RF Mork Mendee (.300/6/19) have contributed. The pitching has been decently good, especially starters Air McNair (4-4, 3.36) and Cohort Williams (4-2, 3.88). Second-year pitcher Buzzcut McDonald (2-3, 4.33) is adjusting to starting in the CBO after pitching out of the bullpen in 2312. In the bullpen, Frumdeep Fathoms (2-0, 1.29) has been the best pitcher there. Railroad League With a 9-1 stretch, the Vault 81 Dwellers have catapulted themselves into the top spot in the CBO, surpassing the CBO's second-best team in FHE for a two-game lead. Glowing Sea has faded some but still sits four games above .500 and tied for 4th in the SCA with the Deathclaws. Oberland, Diamond City, Egret, and Roxbury take up the rear. The Rad Sox currently have the SCA's worst record and have begun to offload players, including trading away Ayag Mour. Vault 81 was not content with losing in the Sole Survivor Series, coming out on fire to win the Nuka Cup Preseason Tournament and now owning the CBO's top record by two games. That success is mostly due to a great offense, currently 1st in runs scored (257) along with 1st in every other offensive category but stolen bases (tied for 4th at 30) and base running (12th at -6.3). With 68 home runs, nine players have hit five or more home runs with the leader, 1B Chris Connexx (.292/10/22), only having 10. 2B Harry Byrd (.358/7/32) has been the best all-around hitter, with additional contributions from RF Joe Rathmann (.312/8/24) and SS End Yamada (.291/6/26). Pitching has not been outstanding, but ace SP Exxie Summerset (8-0, 3.38) has been doing what needs to be done to help his team win. SP Scruffy Taguchi (6-1, 4.15) and RP Dynamite Delaney (1-0, 3.86) have been additional contributors. CBO Standings CBO Players of the Week May 12 - Mike Fountaineau demonstrated his potential to be a star in the game last week and today he took home the North Charles Association Player of the Week Award. The Concord third baseman wreaked havoc on opposing pitchers last week, pounding them for a .682 average (15-for-22) with 7 home runs and 15 RBIs on his way to claiming the honor. This season, Fountaineau has hit at a .363 clip and produced 23 runs batted in, 10 home runs and 17 runs. One of the league's most exciting young players, Dathomirian Zabrak of the FHE Yao Guai earned himself South Charles Association Player of the Week honors with a standout performance in last week's games. For the week the 25-year-old shortstop had a lofty .577 average (15-for-26), collecting no home runs, 6 RBIs and 4 runs scored. Zabrak is hitting .405 in 2313 with 17 RBIs and 3 home runs. May 19 - 20-year-old Justin Lower sent shock waves through Commonwealth Baseball Organization last week with an eye-popping performance that brought him the North Charles Association Player of the Week Award. A newcomer to the league, Lower made the establishment sit up and take notice, punishing opposing pitchers with a .632 average, 12 hits in 19 at-bats, 3 home runs and 10 RBI. Where the Starlight Killers catcher goes from here, only the baseball gods know for sure, but Lower certainly made his mark last week. Currently Lower is batting .322 with 9 home runs and 27 RBIs. His face might be sunbaked after all the years he's invested in this game, but 35-year-old Austin Engill of the Egret Ninjas is still playing a kid's game -- and getting paid for it. The veteran shortstop had a tremendous week and was named the South Charles Association Player of the Week. Engill drilled 8 hits in 21 at-bats and 4 home runs on his way to posting a .381 average. He also knocked in 10 runs and scored 8 times. In 2313 Engill has hit at a .224 clip with 26 hits, 9 home runs, 22 RBIs and has scored 29 times. CBO Noteworthy News May 10 - Ben Pawlak reached the 2000-hit milestone this afternoon at Atomatoys Stadium at Roxbury. The 36-year-old Rad Sox left fielder went 2-for-3 in a losing effort in the Roxbury 11-7 defeat at the hands of the Sunshine Tidings Chemists. For his career, Pawlak has batted .308 and hit 325 home runs. May 10 - The no-hitter is one of baseball's truly egalitarian achievements. It's done by the great and the not-so-great alike, and for nearly all of them it represents the pinnacle of a career. Cambridge Coursers pitcher Mosie Corncob had his moment at Glowing Sea Dome, holding the Glowing Sea Radscorpions hitless and beating them, 3-0. "Everything was working for him," Radscorpions manager Woody Lumpkin said. "He had a lot of late movement that seemed to cause the guys trouble, especially from the fifth inning on. He was in command." Corncob rung up 4 strikeouts, issued 7 walks and faced only 33 hitters in his historic outing. After the game, he spoke to BNN reporters in the Cambridge locker room. "I really got nervous in the last inning," Corncob recalled. "I knew I had a chance at a no-hitter but it was hard to stay calm and concentrate. Thank goodness for my catcher. He told me he would do all the thinking and I could just concentrate on hitting his glove." In 7 starts this season, Corncob has rung up a 3-3 record and a 4.58 ERA. May 11 - Biter Trout reached the 2000-hit mark today. Starlight's 36-year-old catcher received a standing ovation from Starlight Killers and Egret Ninjas fans alike. On the day, Trout went 1-for-3 in the Killers 4-3 victory. During his career, Trout is batting .343 and has totaled 69 home runs. May 19 - Which active pitchers are leading the Commonwealth Baseball Organization in career losses? Aldo Sanch, DC, 150 Chris Deathclaw, JP, 148 Jerry Weisman, STAR, 148 Gavin Eviritts, CC, 147 Tristan Marble, JP, 145 CBO Transactions Monday, May 19th , 2313 Nordhagen Beach Party Boys: Placed SS Pipe Wallcrawler on the 7-day injured list, retroactive to 05/16/2313. May 2313
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 27 May 2313 Among the Flotsam in Provincetown I traveled the tired old path via railway to Plymouth, Massachusetts. A lot of people think of Plymouth as a symbolic beginning of America. The rock at Plymouth was something both as a mythology and apparently an old log of complaints about its size or lack of. Plymouth is the tired old path because it is a symbol of Americana, the start of it all. Whether the death of civilization in 2077 has resonated with irony from a country founded 300 years before is yet to be seen. But Plymouth now is a stopping point. Sure, there is life there. The CYL's Plymouth Hunters, the CCBL's Plymouth University Pioneers, and the NEBL's Plymouth Pilgrims are all testament to that. In fact, I took the time to take in a Pilgrims game. The Pilgrims are Malden's AAA team, boasting a few hopefuls in permanent calls to the CBO in SS Noctyss Eternus, CL Gracie Geiger, 3B Fern Bulletgraze, and 2B Snag Roper. Plymouth took on the Bradberton Tycoons, FHE's NEBL team and the winners of the contest, 5-2. Bulletgraze was the best performer, going 2 for 4 with a home run, a run, and an RBI. But I was there to stop, to rest. In the morning, I got on a fishing boat and headed across Cape Cod Bay to the shores of Provincetown, my first visit there. Provincetown is at the end of the Cape. It's a long way from everything. Upon arrival, I scampered off the boat in all my awkwardness toward a historical building, They Also Faced the Sea. It is the height of existential terror novels. A building along the sea. Dark. Foreboding. Unaffected by time and nuclear holocaust. The images on the outside of the building faded in time. The septuagenarians, long forgotten, staring out into the sea. I spent some time acquainting myself with the area before walking to the northern pier. A shipwreck, surrounded in flotsam, darned the base of the pier. There, I saw the young man I sought, in guard of his treasure. They call him Lonely Gale, a name given based on his upbringing on the Cape and how he built rafts as a child. "You made it," he beamed as he rubbed his stained hands on a stained rag and extended his sizeable paw my way. "I'm Lonely." He paused. "I'm not lonely. I mean, my name is Lonely." He explained he was originally from Seekonk but his family decided to seek more safety near Provincetown. "My name is actually David Summers," he said. "At least, that's what I was named at first. But my dad saw me bundled up on the boat that brought us to Provincetown. He said it was windy that day, and I stood out as a 'Lonely Gale on the sea.' The name stuck ever since." We talked about the sea a lot and how he carved his path there. A hulking young man of about 6'4", Gale towers over the other dockdwellers nearby. He has strength, but as he pulled up ropes, tinked anchors, and wrapped fishing lines, I could see him favoring his left elbow. His throwing elbow. "It still hurts a lot," Gale said. "They [CBO officials] told me that I could get it permanently fixed with the Institute or at one of the large hospitals around Boston. But they told me I would have to stay retired since I would be ineligible. I didn't want that." Gale got hurt on April 22 last year. The former 1st-round draft pick from the Provincetown Land Pirates (formerly of the Cape Cod Youth League but now a part of the CYL), Gale was determined to be a star starting pitcher in the CBO. He was drafted by Easy Town as the 22nd overall pick in the 2307 Draft, and then he was traded to Sunshine Tidings in 2309. That allowed him to move to the bullpen and save 17 games with the Plymouth Pilgrims before moving to the Chemists in 2310. In 2310, Gale was relegated to the bullpen, going 2-1 with a 6.37 ERA in 23 appearances. For Sunshine Tidings, that was not the production they expected, so they traded Gale to Nahant in 2311. "Nahant made me happy," Gale said. "I was on the sea again and felt like a super hero returning to my base." Gale was only a part-time starter with the Celtics in 2311. He appeared 30 times, starting five. He finished the season 5-2 with a 2.08 ERA. "I knew I made it that year. I was not going back to the minors, and I was not going back to the bullpen. I was going to win a lot of games for the Celts." In 2312, Gale was named as one of the Celtics' starters. He started four games, going 1-2 with a 1.61 ERA. But the fourth start was one of bad luck. Gale suffered a significant injury in his ulnar collateral ligament, an injury that typically takes a year to heal. "Medicman [Kuster, the Nahant trainer] took a look at me, ran some tests with a few of those Institute gadgets, and shook his head," Gale said, a grim pursing of his lips stopping him mid-thought. "He told me I wouldn't be pitching again." Gale did not take the news well and decided it was best to return home. He said that he got regular treatments at the clinic in Provincetown and has been using his dock skills to rehabilitate himself. "No pain, no gain, right?" he said, rubbing the crevice of his elbow as he looked out at the sea. "I'm not going to start throwing until I get the all-clear, but I'm here to tell you, I plan to play. Not tomorrow. Not next year. But I'm 23. You will see me play again." I asked Gale about the timeline the doctors gave him. He said he would start some range exercises soon, and he planned to start light tossing in September. He assumed that 2315 would be his first chance to see if he could make the comeback. "I don't know if Nahant will want me back," he started, a gleam in his eye, "but I will make them think long and hard if they don't. I heard on the radio that they could use another good pitcher. That could be me." The CBO has had a policy in place where players cannot use advanced technology to cure injuries unless they are in a life-threatening situation. Commissioner Nate Howard has called the CBO the one pure aspect of the wastes where players must be natural to show off their true talents, not contrived one. Now that the number of synths is down to zero, that can be true of all players in the league. For Gale, it is complicating his ability to do what he loves, pitch. Gale and I spent more time together discussing life in general. He is a thoughtful man and can explain every item on the docks in grand detail and with their full purpose. He showed me a baseball and spoke about it in the same way. "You see this ball?" he asks as he hold the ball up with his his left hand, index and middle fingers spread out as though he plans to throw a four-seamer. "I kept this ball from my first win in the CBO. It was in July in Salem. When I came in, we were down 4-2. When I came out, we were up 5-4. Cush [Baker] came in to finish it up. He handed me the ball right after he struck out the last batter." Gale stated that the ball symbolized his journey forward. He said he kept it hidden away with him the rest of the year in Sunshine Tidings and then the year-plus he was in Nahant. He has kept it out since he returned to Provincetown. "I have to think about baseball," he says, looking around him. "I mean, I love this, and this is what I know and where I'll come back to when I know I can't play anymore. At this point, though, I need baseball. I handle this baseball every day. It's a token of my passion and desire and how I know I am going to return. Lonely Gale, pitcher. That's me."

June 2313
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 1 June 2313 The June 1 Super Post CBO Players of the Month NCA Hitter - When guys like County Crossing's Babs Rooth win Batter of the Month awards, it just makes you feel good. In a productive May, the longtime North Charles Association veteran toyed with opposing pitchers, collecting 42 hits in 95 at-bats. The veteran right fielder hit for a .442 batting average and collected 8 home runs, 26 RBIs and 25 runs scored. On the year, Rooth is hitting .357 with 60 hits, 13 home runs, 44 RBIs, .468 OBP and has scored 36 runs. SCA Hitter - To survive in the bigs, you've got to be a scrapper like Barker Cocoa. It never pays to take a day off from the batting cages or to shrug off the advice of the hitting coach. It all paid off today as University Point's first baseman pinned down the South Charles Association Batter of the Month trophy today. He hit .333 in May collecting 8 home runs, 20 RBIs and 23 runs scored. Cocoa on the season is hitting .315 with 13 home runs. His stats include 31 RBIs and 38 runs scored. NCA Pitcher - The North Charles Association hitters didn't have a chance in May when the County Crossing Bloodbugs manager wrote "Ti" on the lineup card. Outing after outing, Shaak Ti held teams in check and usually got a win. He excelled with a 5-1 mark and 2.98 ERA in 7 starts. The talented Bloodbugs star pitched 45.1 innings, fanned 38 and held opposing teams to a .214 average. For his superb mound work Ti was named the NCA Pitcher of the Month by the baseball writers. This season, Ti has registered 8 wins and 2 losses in 12 starts with a 3.67 ERA. SCA Pitcher - Doug Creep really put his best foot forward in May with 5 wins and 1 loss and walked off with the Pitcher of the Month honors in the South Charles Association. When he got the start for the Atom Cats, it was good news for his club, but bad news for the opposition. In 49.1 innings of work, Creep limited opposing batters to 46 base hits and a .257 batting average. He notched 34 strikeouts, issued 15 walks and had a 2.55 ERA. In 13 starts this season, Creep has registered a 9-3 record and a 3.23 ERA. NCA Rookie - Albie Cannibal's eyes seem to light up whenever he sees the baseball. The young Easy Town shortstop has been hitting everything in sight for the better part of a month. In May he was voted the Rookie of the Month. During the month he hit .339 with 3 doubles, no triples and 10 home runs. Cannibal also scored 21 times and drove in 22 runs. On the season, Cannibal is batting .323 with 10 home runs and 28 RBIs. He has played in 50 games. SCA Rookie - He's only in his debut season, but Tiny de Grande performed more like a veteran on the hill for the Southie Brews and walked away with May's South Charles Association Rookie of the Month Award in the process. Last month this young hurler recorded 6 wins and 1 loss in 0 starts. He threw 44.2 innings, giving up 28 walks, fanning 29 and compiling a 4.03 ERA. His record this year is 6-4 in 0 starts and de Grande has a 5.26 ERA. CBO Top Performers Hitter - Concord's Duff Fee put on a show against University Point on May 28, racking up a 5 for 5 day with a double, two home runs, a stolen base, three runs, and six RBI. That gives Fee the season's top score of 113, tied with Glowing Sea's Naga Arakaki. Pitcher - Despite there being a no-hitter in May, Matt Bowman of Nahant had the top pitching performance score of 86 to earn the top honor. On May 19, Bowman pitched a complete-game, two-hit shutout of Bunker Hill. He finished by allowing two hits, walking two, and striking out five. The 86 score ties D.P. Clark of Diamond City for the season's top score. Despite his no-hitter, Cambridge's Mosie Corncob received a performance score of only 84. On May 10, Corncob pitched the Coursers to a 3-0 victory at Glowing Sea. Corncob walked seven and struck out four in the contest. NEBL Analysis The NEBL is now entering its third month of the season with all but one division tight. In the Yankee League's Mass Division, the Fall River Rippers have a seven-game lead over the Woburn Bobbleheads. In the Patriot League's Maine Division, the Everett Mutant Hounds also have a lead, theirs just three games thanks in part to a six-game winning streak. The Patriot League's Vershire Division and the Yankee League's Connri Division are so tight that they're tied. In the Vershire, the Greenfield Disciples and Abernathy Adamantium are tied at 27-23. In the Connri Division, three teams are tied for 1st: the Worcester Cannons, Natick Big Leaguers, and Providence Warlocks. Only division winners make the postseason. NEBL Players of the Month PL Hitter - Knife Bowie battered Patriot League pitchers all May and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award. "I've been around New England Baseball League long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 29-year-old Bowie told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month." In 27 games, Bowie hit .348 with 9 home runs, 19 RBIs and scored 17 runs. Bowie is batting at a .293 pace this season, picking up 48 hits in 164 at-bats with 12 home runs, 29 RBIs and 26 runs scored. YL Hitter - Though his face is weathered and his hands are callused, Long Hall can still get it done in New England Baseball League. The 34-year-old right fielder for Brookline was named the Yankee League Batter of the Month today after putting up an impressive performance at the plate. In May he batted .358 with 7 home runs, 11 RBIs and 24 runs scored. Thus far this year, Hall is batting .300 with 10 home runs, 17 RBIs and 38 runs scored. PL Pitcher - Old Glory Radcliffe will be bringing May's Patriot League Pitcher of the Month trophy home to Finch Farm. He excelled all month long as he kept opposing hitters guessing, reaching and hoping. Radcliffe started 7 games, going 5-0 with 39 strikeouts in 48.1 innings as he compiled his 1.68 ERA. For the year, Radcliffe has a 9-1 record with a 2.63 ERA in 12 starts. YL Pitcher - Timmy Gilded of Natick had a tremendous May with a 5-0 mark and was chosen the Pitcher of the Month in the Yankee League. Gilded restricted opposing hitters to 33 base hits and a .204 batting average. He rang up 38 strikeouts in 46.1 innings of work, surrendered 8 walks, and crafted a 1.94 ERA. This year, Gilded has posted a record of 7 wins and 2 losses with a 2.83 ERA. He has appeared in 10 games and struck out 56 in 70 innings. MML Analysis The MML has no ties in any of its four divisions, but some of the division races are pretty tight at this point in the season. Division leaders are the Covenant Refractors (Boggs), Lawrence Revolution (Murtagh), Castle Strength (Williams), and Springfield Operators (Yastrzemski). The Strength have the smallest lead of just a game over the Hull Lead Bellies, while the Revolution have the largest lead of five games over the Sanctuary Hills Zetans. MML Players of the Month LL Hitter - Sanctuary Hills Zetans fans believe they've got a talented young star in Oldman Llewellyn. He did nothing to dissuade that notion in May, as he hit .362 with 12 home runs, 26 RBIs and 24 runs scored. The end result was the first baseman being named the Legends League Batter of the Month. This year, Llewellyn is hitting .333 with 40 hits, 12 home runs, 27 RBIs and has scored 25 runs. SL Hitter - Tony Bigfish may be much younger than other hitters in the Stars League, but he performed like a seasoned veteran in May to win the Batter of the Month award. The 21-year-old Suffolk County right fielder hit .340 with 17 home runs, 34 RBIs and 29 runs scored. So far this year, Bigfish is batting .317 with 25 home runs and 50 RBIs. LL Pitcher - This month the Legends League spotlight fell on pitcher Callum Columba of the Revere Beach Shoremen. What a May he had! A fine 4-1 won-lost record, 2.32 ERA, 8 starts, 50.1 innings pitched and 43 strikeouts -- good enough to get him the LL Pitcher of the Month. This season, Columba has worked 78 innings with 60 strikeouts en route to a 4-2 record and a 3.92 ERA. SL Pitcher - Snoop Hound of Cranston had an award-winning May as he took home the Stars League Pitcher of the Month award. "He told me once people used to make fun of the way he pitches," Hound's pitching coach told reporters. "There wasn't anybody laughing in May except for Snoop." Hound was all business when he took the mound though, collecting a 5-1 record in 7 starts. He struck out 32 batters in 49.1 innings and kept opponents to a .218 batting average. This year, Hound has compiled a 8-2 record with a 2.05 ERA. BMU Analysis The BMU is a tight league overall with almost all teams within 10 games of 1st place in their leagues. Current league leaders are the Med-Tek Eyebots (Dark Hollow Pond), Union Hope Lifegivers (Cambridge), West Roxbury Mole Rats (Downtown Boston), and Greater Mass Vans (Glowing Sea). The Lifegivers have just a game lead over the Rocky Narrows Blitz, as well as the Mole Rats over both the DB Tech Nuclear Physicists and Charles View Cannibals. BMU Players of the Month CA Hitter - When Newt Jordan stepped up to the plate in May he did it with confidence, and today he was honored with the Commonwealth Association Batter of the Month award. The young Lynn Woods left fielder posted a .390 batting average with 15 home runs, 32 RBIs and scored 25 runs. Jordan also worked pitchers for 18 walks to post a .487 on-base percentage. In 47 games Jordan is hitting .345 this season with 59 hits, 23 home runs, 51 RBIs, 26 walks, .437 OBP and has scored 40 runs. MA Hitter - At only 20 years of age, Frigate Magdaleno could very well have many more months like this last one during his career. That would be great news for fans of the CGP Demolitionists, as May was one to remember for the first baseman and he has captured the Massachusetts Association Batter of the Month award. On the month he hit .388 with 11 home runs, 33 RBIs and 23 runs scored. In his 2313 season totals, Magdaleno has 22 home runs, .370 BA, .448 OBP, 54 RBIs and 38 runs scored. CA Pitcher - The Pitcher of the Month has been chosen and the Commonwealth Association trophy went to Lynn Woods hurler, Griz Balcacer. During the month, Balcacer was impressive with a 1.81 ERA and 3 wins and no losses. In 44.2 innings he struck out 20 and gave up 33 hits and 13 walks. This season, Balcacer has a 3-0 record with a 1.81 ERA. MA Pitcher - Stacker Building of West Roxbury had an outstanding May with a 4-0 mark and was chosen the Pitcher of the Month in the Massachusetts Association. He topped off the month with a 2.72 ERA in 7 starts, tossed 43 innings, fanned 38 and held opposing teams to a .225 average. This season in 12 starts, Stacker Building has a record of 4-4 with 55 strikeouts in 64.1 innings and a 4.34 ERA. BMU All-Stars It's All-Star Game time -- time for the superstars to shine! Every year Boston Minor Union takes a break in the schedule to play the annual All-Star Game. Division leaders are the Augusta Harpooners (Northeast) by five games over the Diamond Island Glowers. the Corvega Flamers (Northwest) by three games over the Brattleboro Collectors, the Woonsocket Orphans (Southeast) by 12 games over the Neponset Park Criticals, and the New Britain Oceanics (Southwest) by nine games over the Waterbury Cola Kings. GBRL Players of the Month NL Hitter - Two Personal is not used to being associated with Batter of the Month-caliber players, but today the Satellite Array left fielder joined that select company when the North League announced the results of May's voting. Personal totaled 38 hits, 17 walks, 16 home runs, 38 RBIs and 26 runs scored last month to put together a .362 batting average and .452 on-base percentage. This season in 44 games, Personal is batting .346 with 24 home runs, 56 RBIs and has scored 43 times. SL Hitter - Even though he is a newcomer to Greater Boston Rookie League, World B. Free put up some good numbers in May and earned the SL Batter of the Month award. He was one of Woonsocket's offensive leaders with a .426 average in 27 games. He also racked up 25 home runs, 38 RBIs, and 40 runs scored. Free is hitting .427 this season with 34 home runs, 58 RBIs and 67 runs scored. He has 79 hits in 185 at-bats. NL Pitcher - In May when the Croup Manor manager wrote the name "Burpee" on the lineup card, he knew he had a good shot at winning. Start after start in the month, Brandon Burpee took the hill, took charge and usually got the win. He dominated with a 5-1 mark and 2.38 ERA in 7 starts. The gifted Inspectors star pitched 53 innings, fanned 55 and held opposing teams to a .171 average. For his outstanding mound performance Burpee was named the NL Pitcher of the Month by the baseball writers. On his stats sheet for the year Burpee shows a 5-3 record, 12 starts, 85.1 innings, 94 strikeouts and a 4.75 ERA. SL Pitcher - The South League scribes have picked May's Pitcher of the Month and have given the trophy to Geert Hammock of Woonsocket. He was devastating on the mound last month with a standout 6-1 mark. The Orphans star hurler made 7 starts with a 3.02 ERA and surrendered 41 hits in 50.2 innings. He struck out 72 and walked 16. Hammock has made 12 starts so far this year and put up a 8-1 won-lost record with a 3.46 ERA. In 83.1 innings he has allowed 63 hits, walked 26 and struck out 113. GBRL All-Stars What's the best league? The North League or the South League? The answer will be found in the Greater Boston Rookie League All-Star Game. All the votes have been counted and tabulated, all the players have been selected, and they will decide the question on the baseball diamond. ---------------------------------------------------------- Nuka News Update Reporting on the NWL, APL, NWLR, and BBL Leagues by Evan Guy 1 June 2313 First Month Down, Quantum and Quartz Up One month into the 2313 season, the Quantum Nukalurks and Quartz Star Force are early leaders in the North and South Bradberton divisions. Orange is taking up the NWL rear with an 8-15 mark. The Nukalurks are getting things done thanks to being the top team in the NWL in every offensive category but stolen bases and base running, including 1st in runs scored (137). Quantum is also tied for 3rd in runs allowed (104) with the top Starters ERA (3.59). Offensive leaders are RF Jukie Robbins (.427/1/10), 1B Savoy Slurp (.400/3/13), and 2B Popper Pat Beverly (.388/5/28). On the mound, third starter Rude Rube Waddell (4-0, 2.37) has been the best. Quartz has not been as good statistically but still leads by a game over Cherry. The Star Force are 4th in runs scored (113) and tied for 3rd in runs allowed (104). Quartz is 2nd in Starters ERA, which seems to be the most important stat so far for success. On offense, outstanding Force hitters are 1B Antonio Toeclaw (.375/1/10), 2B Arnie Earthwalker (.344/5/17), and C Purple Gonzales (.221/6/16) for power. The top three starters all have an ERA below 4.00: Shady Sand (1-2. 3.63), Tumble Viera (1-0, 3.03), and Jason Matich (4-0, 2.95). It's perhaps an award he'll win many more times through his career, as at age 25 Popper Pat Beverly has a lot of baseball ahead of him. But for now the young Quantum Nukalurks star can enjoy the numbers he put up in May, which have garnered him the nod as the Nuka World League Batter of the Month. His breakout month featured a .388 average with 5 home runs, 28 RBIs and 19 runs scored. The Quantum Nukalurks felt very secure when they sent Rude Rube Waddell out to the hill last month. The 20-year-old starter went after Nuka World League hitters with a vengeance and earned May's Pitcher of the Month award. He went 4-0 with a 2.37 ERA as he struck out 22 in 38 innings over 6 starts. May's #1 rookie was pitcher Alex Branch of Cherry. He muzzled Nuka World League hitters and held them in check all month long to capture the Rookie of the Month award. For the month of May the 23-year-old Branch recorded a 3-2 won-lost mark with a 2.23 ERA and 20 strikeouts in 32.1 innings. Early in the Amusement Park League season, the Red Rocket Radrats and Nuka Plant Electrics are the division leaders. Not known for his offensive prowess, Shift McHenry set the league afire in May and took home the Amusement Park League Batter of the Month award. The Nuka Jolly first baseman posted a steady .395 batting average, 6 home runs, 15 RBIs and 8 runs. No doubt about it! Nuka Plant starter Thane Krios earned his Amusement Park League Pitcher of the Month award. He made that very clear as he mowed his way through league hitters in May. During the month Krios chalked up a 3-0 record with a 1.95 ERA. The Electrics star made 4 starts and surrendered 24 hits in 32.1 innings. He struck out 30 and walked 4. Vim! View Veracious, Vivacious, Vainglorious Vision of the Vim! Leagues by Vikky Vail 1 June 2313 National Park, Cranberry Island Early Leaders The National Park Gulpers and Cranberry Island Hermit Crabs ext the first month of the season as division leaders. The Gulopers are up six games on Echo Lake, while the Hermit Crabs have a two-game lead over Far Harbor. The defending champions, the Gulpers are built to win, including currently being 3rd in runs scored (110) and 1st in runs allowed (92). 3B Shoeboy Capellan (.374/5/15) is the overall team leader from the batter's box. SS DaMan Sayes (.297/6/13) and RF Billy Yudkowsky (.317/1/13) have also helped. The starters currently have three players with an ERA below 4.00: Darma Mollema (1-2, 3.02), Bubble Andrews (2-1, 3.86), and Bossy O'Malley (4-0. 2.08). In the bullpen, CL Jason Mariner (4 SV, 0.00) has been perfect so far. Cranberry Island has never made the playoffs in team history, though they have finished a game back three different times. This season, they look as though they have a chance to win it all. The Hermit Crabs are 2nd in runs scored (129) and tied for 4th in runs allowed (108). Top offensive players include RF Greeta Jendowanian (.473/2/21), 1B Young Hee Cyuleez (.373/5/20), and CF Hathead Constantine (.352/2/21). On the mound, both Tim LeBlanc (4-2, 3.16) and Topan Pakpahan (1-3, 3.56) have held opposing hitters down. Sloop Whoopity (1-0, 0.96) and Biscuit Catalano (1-0, 1.23) have been the best in the bullpen. Chris Knickerbocker made many Echo Lake Harbormen fans happy in May. That's because the veteran 35-year-old right fielder torched opposing pitchers and has won the Vim! League Batter of the Month award. Knickerbocker batted .477, hit 6 home runs, drove in 26 runs, scored 18 times and compiled a .505 on-base percentage. In May Far Harbor starter Keith Lighthouse confused hitters all month long. Last month's Vim! League Pitcher of the Month took home the trophy as he collected a 5-1 record in 6 starts. The 37-year-old Lighthouse added 33 strikeouts in 47.1 innings and 9 walks to his season record and compiled a 2.47 ERA. Other clubs hit .246 against him. In the Mount Desert Island League, the Nucleus Radchickens and Haddock Cove Engineers are the division leaders. Nucleus has a two-game lead over Clifff's Edge, while the Engineers lead both Kitteredge and MS Azalea by a game. Quadir Westwego made his presence known as one of the best young stars in the Mount Desert Island League this past month. The Cliff's Edge Actors left fielder shined through the month of May and has won the Batter of the Month award. The 24-year-old hit .392 with 7 home runs, 12 RBIs and 13 runs scored. There was nobody finer on the mound in May and Dolf Steak cruised to the Mount Desert Island League Pitcher of the Month award today. He was 3-1 with a 1.99 ERA while piling up 17 strikeouts in 31.2 innings and holding opposing hitters to a .197 batting average.

June 2313
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 2 June 2313 CBO Analysis We're now entering the third month of the 2313 season, and by the end of this month, teams should know where they stand in the hunt for the crown. With 51 games down, there are several tight races and a couple of teams that should have already begun their rebuild. Here are the current team power rankings for Commonwealth Baseball Organization: Teams (Total Points, Tendency): 1) Vault 81 Dwellers (128.1, o) 2) County Crossing Bloodbugs (125.1, o) 3) FHE Yao Guai (123.1, o) 4) The Slog Ghouls (121.9, +) 5) Salem Witch Hats (118.9, o) 6) Atom Cats (108.4, -) 7) Starlight Killers (105.4, ++) 8) Bunker Hill 75ers (102.4, -) 9) Glowing Sea Radscorpions (97.8, ++) 10) Nahant Celtics (94.2, ++) 11) Fort Hagen Silver Shroud (92.8, ++) 12) Spectacle Island Reapers (92.2, ++) 13) Lexington Synths (90.8, --) 14) Southie Brews (88.2, o) 15) Quincy Gunners (86.2, ++) 16) Diamond City Swatters (81.8, --) 17) Oberland T-51s (81.8, --) 18) Goodneighbor Hancocks (78.8, --) 19) Jamaica Plain Red Rockets (78.8, --) 20) University Point Deathclaws (78.8, ++) 21) Concord Radstags (77.6, +) 22) Nordhagen Beach Party Boys (77.2, --) 23) Cambridge Coursers (77.2, ++) 24) Roxbury Rad Sox (73.2, +) 25) Sunshine Tidings Chemists (69.6, --) 26) Egret Ninjas (68.2, --) 27) Malden Grognaks (61.9, +) 28) Easy Town Assaultrons (42.5, -) Brotherhood League There is a crowd up top in both the NCA and the BL with three teams all within two games of one another. County Crossing has the league lead with Salem and The Slog tied at two games back. The rest of the BL is below .500 and currently not in the playoff race, though Nahant and Nordhagen Beach could get back there. Malden (17) and Easy Town (14) are the only teams in the CBO with fewer than 20 wins. The Ghouls were not content with earning a wildcard spot in 2312; they want to win. Currently 5th in runs scored (273) and 2nd in runs allowed (197), The Slog has shown themselves to be a good all-around team. On offense, they are tops in average (.279) but do not have the power numbers, currently tied for 11th in home runs (61). SS Gavin Deux-Gas (.373/10/39/14 SB) has been the unquestioned star. Other top contributors include 1B Kilometers Davis (.317/10/43), 3B Alec Box (.324/2/15), and CF Bill Lazarus (.307/2/18/17 SB). On the mound, the top two starters, Flirt Perez (5-2, 2.65) and Cutter Redman (7-2, 3.30), have been great. Austen Austin (4 SV, 1.64) recently took over closer duties after Crisco Caristo (10 SV, 5.89) struggled. Hard John Horvath (1-1, 1 SV, 0.40) has been dominant in his 22.1 IP. Institute League Bunker Hill has faltered lately, going 4-6 in their last 10. During that same stretch, Starlight went 7-3 to close the gap and tie the two teams for 1st place. Fort Hagen and Lexington are tied for 3rd at three games back. The rest of the IL is out of the race in Concord, Cambridge, and Sunshine Tidings. The Killers have quietly built themselves up with the top rotation in the NCA, currently 1st in runs against (196) and Starters ERA (3.37). They are 4th in runs scored (276), showing that they can be a contender. There have been no true stars on offense, but the middle of the lineup has been steady: RF King Hippo (.310/8/25), 1B Oren Gep (.252/8/41), and C Justin Lower (.290/11/32). Three of the starters have ERAs below 4.00: Digger Vadim (8-3, 3.42), Phil Pearlman (3-4, 2.80), and Mat Nielsen (4-2, 3.15). RP Closecall Zamora (2-0, 1.14) has produced more than 20 quality innings out of the bullpen, while CL Kevin Brown (13 SV, 5.40) has struggled. Minutemen League Atom maintains a large lead in the ML, six games up on Spectacle Island and Southie, who are both a game below .500. Goodneighbor, Jamaica Plain, University Point, and Quincy are all right behind in a bunched up 2-7 position in the ML. As a surprise, though, if the playoffs started today, the Reapers and Brews would be the 5th and 6th seeds thanks to a struggling SCA. University Point is officially in 6th place. A three-game winning streak could see them in 2nd place and the 5th seed of the playoffs, so we are not at all counting out one of the most dynamic and successful franchises. The Deathclaws are currently 5th in runs scored (257) and 4th in runs allowed (226). On offense, most of the production comes from the middle of the lineup: 1B Barker Cocoa (.309/13/31), SS Rock Rampage (.314/5/32), and RF Wee Willy Warrington (.304/11/35). The top two starters, Lawdog Whipple (4-1, 3.93) and Tony Bertha (6-3, 2.90) have been great. No one has been dominant in the bullpen, including CL Matt Hoernig (9 SV, 4.43). Railroad League Vault 81 and FHE remain as the two best teams, with the Dwellers holding the CBO's best record and the Yao Guai tied with the Bloodbugs for the second-best record in the CBO. Glowing Sea is the only other team above .500 in the SCA. Oberland, Diamond City, Egret, and Roxbury fill out the league. The Rad Sox have already started their rebuild, trading away C Ayag Mour as a part of their move to get younger. For the Swatters, they thought for awhile that they may be playoff contenders. However, as the season goes along, Diamond City continues to struggle to put up consistent numbers to make them consistent winners. The Swatters may have also made a hasty trade in dealing their ace away, Paul Stains, after early struggles this season frustrated the front office. Diamond City is 14th in runs scored (213) and 10th in runs allowed (261), showing that they are more likely to compete for the #1 pick than the #1 seed. Most of the players are lumped together, including long-time star RF Magnum Peaeye (.301/9/31). The home runs leader is C Cole Spice (.284/12/26). Second-year SS Alex Bragman (.259/9/33) leads in RBI. On the mound, no starter is below 4.00, though new ace, SP Macho Lopez (3-3, 4.01), is close. CL Burt Bloodhound (13 SV, 2.25) is doing well, as are RPs Flimflam Fanglethorpe (2-0, 1.05) and Electric Willis (0-1, 2.86). CBO Standings CBO Players of the Week May 26 - Paul Stains became the latest recipient of the North Charles Association Player of the Week Award for his outstanding performance this past week. To win the best player honor the 24-year-old Salem hurler tossed a total of 16.1 innings, collecting 2 wins, 15 strikeouts and a 0.00 earned run average. He suffered no losses. Stains has started 12 times this year, pitched 76.1 innings, fanned 66 batters and walked 19. His current record is 4 wins and 5 losses with a 4.48 ERA. Daub Buckle demonstrated his potential to be a star in the game last week and today he took home the South Charles Association Player of the Week Award. The Southie catcher wreaked havoc on opposing pitchers last week, pounding them for a .524 average (11-for-21) with 5 home runs and 11 RBIs on his way to claiming the honor. In 36 games this season, Buckle has compiled a .289 batting average with 39 hits and 8 home runs. He has also scored 16 times and knocked in 37 runs. June 2 - Togie Pitt is respected by most Cambridge Coursers fans for his no-frills style of play. The 22-year-old second baseman went about his business with vigor last week to grab the North Charles Association Player of the Week honors. He compiled a .481 average (13-for-27) with 5 home runs, 12 RBIs and 9 runs scored. This year, Pitt is hitting .315 with 62 hits, 11 home runs, 28 RBIs and has scored 33 runs. The Player of the Week has been announced by the South Charles Association. The honor went to Ken Debate, left fielder of the Jamaica Plain Red Rockets. He burned up the league with a .455 average to win the award. Debate went 10-for-22 for the week, totaled 6 home runs with 9 RBIs and scored 6 times. For the year, Debate has hit at a .367 clip with 31 RBIs, 13 home runs and 42 runs scored. CBO Noteworthy News May 20 - Whip Lashley entered the record books today as he collected win number 150 at Beantown Brewery Stadium. "Wow! This is a select group of pitchers. I am honored and thrilled to be in it," Lashley said after the game. "I never dreamed of winning this many games." In his historic outing he went 7 innings and gave up no runs on 2 hits. Lashley also had 5 strikeouts and 2 walks as his County Crossing Bloodbugs topped the Concord Radstags 3-1. Lashley has a won-lost record of 150 wins and 76 losses with 1330 strikeouts and a lifetime 4.09 ERA. May 24 - B.J. Perez is hanging up his spikes at the end of the season. Perez, a 36-year-old veteran, told the Sunshine Tidings Chemists that he will be retiring. "I loved playing a kid's game and getting paid well to do it. I loved the travel and the attention ballplayers get," he said. "But, what I'm really going to miss are a lot of the little things that go on behind the scenes. I'm going to miss playing on perfectly mowed grass each day. That's our stage, and a bunch of anonymous groundskeepers made that happen each week." The native of Lawrence, Massachusetts showed an obvious love for the game as he reflected on the sport. "My bat representative ... I would talk to him and next thing I'd have brand new bats. I loved the perfectly straight chalk lines, the echoes from the PA system, and even the umps." Perez has a career .308 batting average with a .381 OBP. He has hit 76 homers, driven in 511 runs and scored 996 runs since he came into the league. May 26 - So, who is the leader in the Commonwealth Baseball Organization in career RBI? Barker Cocoa, UP, 1502 Oren Gep, STAR, 1319 Babs Rooth, CC, 1252 Jonathan Angelou, NB, 1251 Tomas Jones, ST, 1242 May 30 - Tommy Beach said he's proud of what he's accomplished in professional baseball and he's now comfortable walking away from the sport. The Nordhagen Beach Party Boys reliever announced today that this season will be his last. "It's Freedom 36," he joked with reporters. "I'm happy to get out now and am looking forward to enjoying retirement." Beach has appeared in 456 games in his career, picked up 2 saves, tossed 2604.1 innings and posted a 176-116 record. He has a lifetime ERA of 4.23. June 2 - Who holds the single season record in the Commonwealth Baseball Organization for home runs? Homestay Lovetap, SI, 61, 2306 Barker Cocoa, UP, 60, 2307 Diamond Ball, SI, 57, 2306 Barker Cocoa, UP, 56, 2310 Barker Cocoa, UP, 55, 2309 CBO Transactions Monday, June 2nd , 2313 Starlight Killers: Placed RF Hurr Lee Reyes on the 7-day injured list, retroactive to 05/31/2313. June 2313
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 6 June 2312 BMU All-Star Game Adavald Vigilant shined brightly tonight against the best talent that the BMU has to offer. The all-star was named MVP for the annual mid-season showcase held at Poseidon Energy Ballpark, as his Massachusetts Association All-Stars downed the Commonwealth Association All-Stars by a count of 16-15. "It's humbling to even play in a game like this with legends of the sport all around you," he said. Vigilant went 3 for 3 to capture the honor. Home Run Challenge: A terrific cast of sluggers competed in the 2313 Home Run Challenge. Lou Ganon, the Taffington Boathouse Spy Hunters left fielder, prevailed to claim the championship hardware. He outperformed Trog Alderod in the final round by a score of 11-7. "Everyone should get a chance to compete at least once in this event," said Ganon. "It's a lot of fun." GBRL All-Star Game Space Beam Field was the place to be for baseball fans tonight, as the best GBRL players gathered for the annual all-star game. On the field, the North League downed the South League by a score of 8-2. Off the field, game MVP Jess Fowl said he thinks everyone had a good night. "You looked into the stands and it seemed like everyone was having a fantastic time," said the 19-year-old, who went 1-for-2 in the game. "A game like this is good for the sport." Home Run Challenge: The house was rockin' -- Space Beam Field, that is -- site of this year's Home Run Challenge. A jubilant Christopher Powerarm outlasted the rest of the field to win the title. The Satellite Array Riflemen center fielder vanquished Gram Baylor in the final round by a score of 12-11. "It was a battle of attrition," said Powerarm, "and I happened to be the last man standing." During his career, Powerarm has played in 196 games, batted .248 with 48 home runs and 126 base hits. CCBL Playoffs The Northeastern Huskies ignited a huge celebration as they beat the Commonwealth University Terriers 17-2 to win the College Series. Northeastern won the series 3-2, capturing the title for the 2nd time. "We stepped it up at the right time, and now we're the champs," said Northeastern manager John Daily. "It's a great feeling." The champs finished the regular season 47-13 and claimed first place in the BCAC. In the jubilant clubhouse after the decisive game, series MVP and third baseman Donovan Mackey said the Huskies have "great fans and they deserve this." "I am so happy for our city right now," he said. Box Score: College Series Results: CCBL Playoff Tree Bonus: The CBO All Under-25 Team We were curious since we see a trend of a lot of star players over 30 and a lot of emerging stars under 25 with a middling group of people between 25-29. We wanted to take a look at players under 25 and who the best performers at their position are. WAR was used for the rankings.
