Thumbs up Back with the best! TY Guy's

Hello all,
After being in & out of the game the last few years I want to get back into building a uni!. I had spent about 3 to 4 years building my uni, with pictures, Venues, fighters, judges,...ect. Finally, ready to play, around summer of 2015 a lightning strike fried my computer & Hard drive!

With "all" the many games and the internet out there I find myself returning to TBCB and perhaps the best community anywhere! (I'm using V 2.5, I have the next version and at some point might move things but prefer this version.)
I have loaded all the fighters from this thread and want to thank all whom posted. I also felt an obligation to do so based on the hard work & respect of the late John Dewey (11/14/2012), Jackyle, PWillisTheMan, Baer, and so many others. TY all!
After reading the many posts on rating fighters from John Dewey & others I may try my hand at rating a few fighters in my universe & post those.
Best Regards,
Hootowl9 (Fred)

Fighters with Wisconsin, USA roots.

I'm going to be posting some fighters with Wisconsin roots. (My home state.) I've posted a few fighters in the past but do not claim to be an expert.

I have my own way and approach on how I rate fighters for my universe as do we all.
I don't have all the available resources at hand that many have but feel I'm in the ballpark for the most part.
Any input would be welcome, positive or negative. I'm to old & grumpy to get my feelings hurt, so no problem!
My hope is that you will find them useful in your uni's.
Best Regards,
Hootowl9 (Fred)

Your ratings look OK. May be a quibble but I'd change Fails fouls to often since he has a DQ loss on record, Thanks for Quigly. I'll take him off my to do list,

I've always kind of wondered and debated about the Fouls rating. I've seen I guess many a ratings done giving someone with an Often rating with even just one DQ loss. Me I kind of thinking more of 1 DQ gets and Occasionally, 2 DQ's Often and more than that would get you the Frequently. Unless of course you know a true history of the fighter and know him or her to be that "dirty fighter" but somehow managed to mostly get away from it. As I go back through looking at some of my old ratings I'm looking at that foul rating more to see what I've done with it in the past and rebase around my current thinking of use.

Would be interested to hear Bear your ideas on it or from anyone else. Maybe my thinking is all off?

You can check for updates on rgw Change List

http://www.titleboutboxing.com/cgi-b...a?view,changes

At the present time there is a problem loading updates onto 2.5. I've had to incorporate IceTea's updates manually into 2.5. He's updating active guys.

I've altered a few guys but I've had them since before TB 2.0. Tom Sharkey is definitely FREQUENTLY, as is Fred Russell. Many won't agree, but I've also made Marciano part of this exclusive group. (Ask Don Cockell) There are doubtless a few boxers who have been unfairly rated in this category though. One or two DQs should not qualify a fighter as OFTEN. If you study the fighter and the fight and the referee, you may see a pattern. A few referees seemed to have a tendency to disqualify guys for next to nothing, while others definitely turned a blind eye.

There is nothing clear about assigning this rating. The Trunzo's old manual dates to when there were three, not four possible foul ratings. As it is you've pointed out a lot of the difficulties involved with the assigning this rating to fighters. DQ's are effected by the ref's tendency most definitely and this wild card element only adds to problem. There is also an element of ambiguity involved here. Is the purpose of the Foul rating to designate a fighter's "dirtiness" or to produce "accurate" historical career results? The two aren't necessarily equatable. I seem to recall (though I can't verify since I no longer have access to them) that in earlier versions the noted dirty fighter Fritzie Zivic had a low foul rating because he rarely was DQ'ed. When I create fighters for the TC parade it is my hope to get historically accurate replay results and I tend to nudge the number higher based on the following factors that come in to play. I look at the number of fights fights a guy's had and also the number of rounds fought. When these are low and the fighter's CF is also low I'll push the foul rating up a notch. I may also push the aggression up a notch and add some fight's inside numbers.
