It took a 6-3 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies on the final day of the regular season, but the Washington Nationals are champions of the National League East Division.
The win capped the Nationals' regular season with a record of 89-73, just one game better than the second-place Atlanta Braves.
Washington will open the postseason in the wild-card where it will host the No. 6 seeded-Milwaukee Brewers, who reached via a wild card.
The playoff berth is Washington's first since 2031.
The Nationals have only reached the World Series once, in 2019 when they defeated the Houston Astros.
