I don't know if this is an OOTP 25 feature/adjustment or not, but I am seeing the CPU make a lot more trades than there used to be. Trades that make sense for both ball clubs: buyers trading with sellers. Two examples below:
The Roxbury Rad Sox have made a deal sending 19-year old minor league 3B Jim Szewczyk, 23-year old LF Cubby France, and 19-year old minor league RHP Quack Quack Ruggiero to the Goodneighbor Hancocks for 22-year old RHP Oliver Oil (59/63 and instant starter in Roxbury's rotation). Both sides are said to be pleased with the way the trade worked out. So far this season, France has gotten 70 hits in 240 at-bats for a .292 batting average with 16 home runs. His stats include 49 RBIs and 49 runs scored. He has played in 84 games. In 23 starts this season, Oil has notched a 6-9 record and a 3.22 ERA. AND Jamaica Plain and Nahant have agreed in principle to a trade. The Red Rockets will send 29-year old 2B Bulleye Shooterson (67/67) and 28-year old LHP Glenn Patnode to the Celtics for 22-year old minor league RF Buttons Bunterson (#15 prospect) and 21-year old minor league 3B Odo Capchange (#18 prospect). The deal is expected to be finalized shortly and the clubs will be introducing their new players to the press when the paperwork is complete. Shooterson is batting .315 with 21 home runs and 62 RBIs this season.

Love it. I will say I watched a lore video from one of the big channels recently about all the crazy stuff pre-war was doing with radiating/chemicals/what have you that was really wrecking health/the environment even without the bombs, and well, when it came to food, a lot of it was like "Well yes, in a twisted logic sort of way, all that radiation and what not WOULD kill bacteria... I suppose.... just not the only thing it's going kill"

July 2311
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, BCAC, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 31 July 2311 CBO Analysis We have reached the All-Star Break in the new CBO schedule. All teams have now played 100 games with 30 more to go on their 2311 season. There are things we know, and there are things we still have yet to discover about the teams and the overall outlook. Lots of teams are good, but only five teams in the CBO have 60 or more wins at this point. Here are the current team power rankings for Commonwealth Baseball Organization: Teams (Total Points, Tendency): 1) Starlight Killers (121.8, o) 2) Oberland T-51s (118.4, ++) 3) Nordhagen Beach Party Boys (114.4, -) 4) University Point Deathclaws (112.6, ++) 5) Roxbury Rad Sox (111.6, -) 6) Nahant Celtics (110.8, +) 7) Egret Ninjas (109.4, -) 8) Fort Hagen Silver Shroud (104.8, -) 9) Vault 81 Dwellers (99.8, +) 10) Sunshine Tidings Chemists (94.2, +) 11) Quincy Gunners (93.6, ++) 12) Salem Witch Hats (92.6, o) 13) FHE Yao Guai (92.4, --) 14) Spectacle Island Reapers (91.0, -) 15) Atom Cats (89.2, o) 16) Bunker Hill 75ers (87.8, -) 17) Diamond City Swatters (87.8, +) 18) County Crossing Bloodbugs (86.8, ++) 19) The Slog Ghouls (86.6, -) 20) Lexington Synths (81.6, --) 21) Goodneighbor Hancocks (77.2, +) 22) Concord Radstags (76.8, ++) 23) Malden Grognaks (75.4, --) 24) Easy Town Assaultrons (73.0, +) 25) Cambridge Coursers (65.6, -) 26) Jamaica Plain Red Rockets (63.8, --) 27) Southie Brews (54.4, o) 28) Glowing Sea Radscorpions (45.6, o) If the playoffs started today, these would be the seedings: NCA 1. Starlight 2. Nordhagen Beach 3. Nahant 4. Fort Hagen 5. Sunshine Tidings 6. Salem SCA 1. University Point (3-1 vs Roxbury) 2. Roxbury 3. FHE (3-2 vs Egret, 5-3 vs Oberland) 4. Egret (6-2 vs Oberland) 5. Oberland 6. Vault 81 Brotherhood League The BL is the sole league with two teams with 60 or more wins in Nordhagen Beach and Nahant. The rest of the league trails by 11 games or more, meaning that the Party Boys and Celtics are fighting it out for 1st place in the league and possibly the 3rd seed for the runner-up. Salem is the other team with the best possibility to earn a wildcard spot, but The Slog and County Crossing are not out of the race. We are slightly favoring Nahant to take the BL. While the team has some gaps in depth, the Celtics have also shown that they have built a solid young team that can outpace most other teams. Nahant is 3rd in runs scored (533) and 2nd in runs allowed (424). 3B Diamond Ball (.334/24/76) is the team leader on offense, and he is well supported by the 1, 2, and 4 hitters: RF Gene Leftswipe (.278/14/48/44 SB), LF Grandson Quarles (.312/14/54), and 1B Bulleye Shooterson (.315/21/63) who was just acquire from Jamaica Plain. SPs Zack Million (12-7, 2.25) and Cohort Williams (14-8, 3.79) have dominated atop the rotation. Institute League Starlight has a 10-game lead on Fort Hagen, meaning that the Killers are likeliest to win the IL. The Silver Shroud, Sunshine Tidings, and Bunker Hill are all in the race, with Lexington on the fringe but needing a few long winning streaks to end the season. The Killers have the CBO's best record and appear currently to be the favorite to win it all. In the NCA, they are tied for 1st in runs scored (544) and 1st in runs allowed (403), including an impressive 1st in Starters ERA (3.59). That low ERA is because everyone of the starters has an ERA below 4.00: Digger Vadim (13-3, 3.17), Shaak Ti (11-9, 3.42), Whokill Poole (11-5, 3.94), and Jerry Weisman (11-5, 3.45). On offense, Starlight has a lot of talent, but LF Glenn Higinbotham (.286/24/60/43 SB) has been the best player all-around. Minutemen League With a 12-game lead, University Point has a Magic # of 19 heading into the break. Spectacle Island is the next-best team, but they are .500 and just not as good as the top five teams in the Railroad League. Currently on a six-game losing streak and in 6th place, Jamaica Plain has already thrown in the towel by trading away Shooterson for prospects. The Deathclaws have surged enough to currently hold the #1 spot in the SCA thanks to their season series victory over Roxbury. The Claws are 1st in runs scored (585), something they usually do, and 2nd in runs allowed. As the SCA's current favorite, the Claws know that their offense can be deadly. 1B Barker Cocoa (.375/21/72) is NOT the SCA nor team MVP, at least by our guess. That distinction goes to LF Chris Hirshfield (.325/30/92) who is lighting up teams, including having a walk-off home run this past week. SPs Tony Bertha (10-5, 3.52) and Joey Dimes (12-5, 3.63) have pitched well. Railroad League If the playoffs started today, the RL would have 5 of the 6 playoff teams. Roxbury has built a four-game lead thanks to FHE's current six-game losing streak. That Yao Guai losing streak has opened up the race for 2nd place in the RL with FHE, Egret, and Oberland all tied at 58-42. The Yao Guai leads the season series over both of those teams. Vault 81 went 4-6 in its last 10 to fall two games back of that pack, being surpasses by the T-51s on a six-game winning streak. For the Rad Sox, is it safe to say that they are back? Well, looking at the statistics, the record does not match the performance. The Sox are 5th in runs scored (546) and 7th in runs allowed (479). Part of the reason their actual record is six games up on their Pythagorean record is that Roxbury is a CBO-best 16-5 in one-run games. So, that means they tend to get blown out in losses and scrape by in wins. That is not a winning formula come playoff time. Lots of the offensive players have similar successes on the season, but C Ayag Mour (.346/13/56) is doing better than most. On the mound, ace SP Nuka Laloosh (12-6, 3.45) is the best starter, while rookie CL Professor Harriel (33 SV, 1.45) has been outstanding in leading the CBO in saves. CBO Standings CBO Players of the Week July 24 - Eugene Jeep has the tools to stick in this league for many years. The 22-year-old first baseman of the Lexington Synths had a hot bat in the North Charles Association over the past seven days and won the Player of the Week honors. Jeep batted .524 with 11 hits in 21 at-bats, 3 home runs and 9 RBIs. So far this season, Jeep is hitting .350 with 22 home runs. Phantom Vargas demonstrated his potential to be a star in the game last week and today he took home the South Charles Association Player of the Week Award. The Vault 81 catcher wreaked havoc on opposing pitchers last week, pounding them for a .444 average (8-for-18) with 3 home runs and 6 RBIs on his way to claiming the honor. On the year, Vargas is hitting .318 with 94 hits, 14 home runs, 66 RBIs, .401 OBP and has scored 48 runs. July 31 - Like a machine, Babs Rooth hit the baseball with brutal efficiency last week, gaining himself the North Charles Association Player of the Week title for that stretch. The County Crossing Bloodbugs right fielder rapped out a .500 average with 10 hits in 20 at-bats, 5 home runs, 8 runs batted in and 9 runs scored. This year, Rooth is batting .401 with 24 home runs and 69 RBIs. Earthbound Bussey is respected by most Oberland T-51s fans for his no-frills style of play. The 32-year-old center fielder went about his business with vigor last week to grab the South Charles Association Player of the Week honors. He compiled a .538 average (14-for-26) with 1 home run, 5 RBIs and 14 runs scored. Currently Bussey is batting .327 with 6 home runs and 38 RBIs. CBO Draft Preview Here are five more prospects whose names we could see called in the 2311 Draft: 1. OF Tallahassee Vice, SR, Taunton Giants - Vice played mostly LF with the Giants, but scouts believe that he can progress into a CF in the pros due to having good speed and range. His best asset on offense is that he has the frame to become a power hitter but could grade out as a good all-around hitter. 2. RF Matt Paydirt, SR Eastham Rads - Paydirt had a stellar senior season for the Rads, batting .332/30/57 to drive up his draft stock. He has a good arm, which means he will probably be a RF in the pros. He has a steady stroke with the bat. While that translates into a lot of line-drive homers at the youth level, he may see his home run numbers dip while his batting average stays high. Regardless, he is expected to be a solid mid-to-late 1st rounder. 3. RF Riot Darton, SR, Marlborough Minigunners - Darton saw his production dip a bit in his senior season, so there are some questions about his progress. Should he trend up again, scouts rate Darton as having one of the best power potentials in the 2311 Draft. That was shown in his sophomore and junior seasons when he hit 28 home runs each year. His defense is just OK, but he is god enough to play either corner OF spot. 4. 2B Brandon Larsonist, SR, Freeplat Wicked Goods - Larsonist is currently projected as a 2B, but he is talented defensively and could slip in at SS or 3B, giving him a good chance to get on the field. He is also a speedster, swiping 13 of 14 attempts this season. While he is not the most talented with the bat in the draft pool, Larsonist could develop into a good all-around hitter. He could even become a leadoff hitter in the right situation. 5. CF Floren Habern, SR Reading Rhinos - In just one season of Reading joining the CYL, Habern showed his gifts off to the league, bating .347/27/62. He is a rangy OF with a good arm, so basically he can play any of the OF positions but projects as a CF due to his tremendous speed. Like Larsonist, Habern is probably bound to be a leadoff hitter, able to hit for average and knock a few out of the park here and there. He is not as gifted as a baserunner, so he needs to work on his stealing skills to get better jumps and fewer false starts. Season Pass Association
---------------------------------------------------------- Nuka News Update Reporting on the NWL, APL, NWLR, and BBL Leagues by Evan Guy 1 August 2311 Wild, Orange Lead Divisions With just 14 games remaining in the 2311 regular season, the Wild Gatorclaws and Orange Tourists are division leaders. Wild currently has a seven-game lead, giving them a Magic # of 8. Meanwhile, the Tourists lead Cherry by just a game with Dark three games back and Quartz four back in a tight division. It's perhaps an award he'll win many more times through his career, as at age 25 Fried Tatos Smith has a lot of baseball ahead of him. But for now the young Wild Gatorclaws star can enjoy the numbers he put up in July, which have garnered him the nod as the Nuka World League Batter of the Month. His breakout month featured a .553 average with 4 home runs, 24 RBIs and 26 runs scored. So far this season, Smith has recorded a .432 batting average with 128 hits, 7 home runs, 47 RBIs, 60 runs scored and a .449 OBP. The Quartz Star Force celebrated today after the news filtered through the clubhouse that Tumble Viera had been selected as July's Nuka World League Pitcher of the Month. Viera's zest for the game has been a frequent topic on the sports pages and his numbers of late have made his fans even more enthusiastic. "Our coaching staff really helps me prepare well," Viera said, "and the fans feed off good pitching. Your pitches just seem to have that extra pop to them when the fans are behind you and you feel confident you can get outs." Viera tossed 46.2 innings last month, holding opponents to a .184 average while striking out 27 batters. In 7 starting assignments he came away with a 4-1 record, putting together an ERA of 2.12. This year, Viera has compiled a 8-5 mark with a 2.58 ERA. Fried Tatos Smith's eyes seem to light up whenever he sees the baseball. The young Wild right fielder has been hitting everything in sight for the better part of a month. In July he was voted the Rookie of the Month. During the month he hit .553 with 12 doubles, 3 triples and 4 home runs. Smith also scored 26 times and drove in 24 runs. On the year, Smith has hit .432 with 7 home runs, 47 RBIs and scored 60 runs. In the Amusement Park League, both the Kiddie Kingdom Cappies and Nuka Town Operators have comfortable leads. The Cappies are up by seven games with a Magic # of 8. The Operators are up by six games with a Magic # of 9. Elijah de Love may be much younger than other hitters in the Amusement Park League, but he performed like a seasoned veteran in July to win the Batter of the Month award. The 23-year-old Galactic Zone first baseman hit .423 with 9 home runs, 17 RBIs and 23 runs scored. For the season, de Love is batting .407 with 33 hits and 11 home runs. He has scored 26 times and batted in 20. Nuka Town Operators fans lauded the selection of reliever Steve Slocums as Amusement Park League Pitcher of the Month for July. The 30-year-old hurler was nothing short of masterful, holding enemy hitters to a .148 average. In 8 relief appearances he put up a 1-0 record, 5 saves, 3 strikeouts and an ERA of 0.00 over 8 innings. In 22 relief appearances this year, Slocums has thrown 23.1 innings, struck out 10 and collected 14 saves. His won-lost record is 4-0 with a 0.77 ERA. The NWLRL is a bit tighter with the Nuka Jolly Elves having a four-game lead and a Magic # of 11 in the North Bradberton Division. The South Bradberton Division has three teams all within a game of one another. The Dunmore Ferris Wheels lead both Nuka Plant and Junkyard by a game. Fisher Ryba put together a good July to earn the NWL Rookie League Batter of the Month prize. A virtual unknown, he made the most of his chance to prove to Nuka Jolly officials that he belongs on the big league roster. The Elves second baseman posted a .343 batting average with 13 home runs, 27 RBIs and 23 runs scored. Thus far this year, Ryba is batting .333 with 27 home runs, 69 RBIs and 44 runs scored. July's #1 hurler was Culhwch Olwen of Red Rocket. He gunned down NWL Rookie League hitters the whole month and claimed the Pitcher of the Month award. The Radrats star piled up 3 wins and 1 loss to take the honor. The 20-year-old Olwen added 23 strikeouts in 19.2 innings and 7 walks to his season record and compiled a 2.29 ERA. Other clubs hit .240 against him. BBL Awards The future looks extremely bright for Johhny Hair. At the age of 14, many players are still trying to find their way in Bradberton Boys League. Hair has not only found his way, he's already established himself as one of the game's brightest stars, today being named the winner of the Bradberton Boys League Most Valuable Player Award. "I didn't expect to hit .381 this year, that's for sure," the left fielder said. The Angry Anaconda Godmodes star also put up a .538 on-base percentage this year, with 45 hits, 7 doubles, no triples, 22 home runs, 40 RBIs and 37 runs scored. He received 13 first place votes out of a possible 16. Louiston Bateman of the Angry Anaconda Godmodes finished second in voting, while Frothy Uriah of the Collegetown Spirits finished third with 1 first place vote. During his remarkable year Greenman posted a 5-1 record in 10 starts. In 53.2 innings he yielded 34 hits and 11 walks while striking out 68 and compiling a fine 1.01 ERA. He received 15 first place votes out of a possible 16. Nay Fukuoka of the Sherwood Manor Sasquatch finished second in voting with 1 first place vote, while Evan Chukov of the King Cola Youths finished third. Player - Team - First Place - Total Points Dray Greenman - Hilltop Farm Melonheads - 15 - 109 Nay Fukuoka - Sherwood Manor Sasquatch - 1 - 67 Evan Chukov - King Cola Youths - 0 - 43 Avery Matthews - Chicopee Galaxy - 0 - 33 High Sparrow Wallcrawler - Wixon Shovels - 0 - 20 Johnny Bags was a calming influence out of the Angry Anaconda Godmodes bullpen this season. His teammates and manager said he had a poised demeanor about him that was typical of someone much older and more experienced. His poise has paid off, as the 17-year-old turned in a sparkling season and has been named the winner of the Bradberton Boys League Reliever of the Year Award for 2311. The Stamford, Connecticut native won the award with 5 saves in 16 relief appearances, 32 strikeouts in 23.2 innings and a record of 0-1 to go with his 1.14 ERA. He received 16 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Madman Williams of the Fizztop Mountain Conquerors finished second in voting, while Van Horne of the Angry Anaconda Godmodes finished third. View Veracious, Vivacious, Vainglorious Vision of the Vim! Leagues by Vikky Vail Exciting Division Races in Vim! League Both the Fog and Harbor divisions have tight races in the final two weeks of the regular season. The Eden Meadows Anglers and Echo Lake Harbormen are both knotted up at 44-32 in the Fog Division. Meanwhile, the Far Harbor Ghoul Whales lead the Cranberry Island Hermit Crabs by just a game in the Harbor Division. Chris Knickerbocker let his bat do the talking in July and the Vim! League heard him loud and clear. He made plenty of noise as he put together a .425 batting average and was named the top hitter of the month. Knickerbocker's month to remember saw him accumulate 45 hits, 7 home runs, 32 runs batted in, 19 runs, 12 walks and a .479 on-base percentage. In his 2311 season totals, Knickerbocker has 25 home runs, .410 BA, .434 OBP, 96 RBIs and 61 runs scored. Despite the number of years he's been in the league, Keith Lighthouse still gets excited when he puts together a quality stretch like he had in July. The 35-year-old starter for Far Harbor was named Vim! League Pitcher of the Month earlier today. He collected 4 wins and 1 loss with 33 strikeouts in his 6 starts, putting up a fine 1.53 ERA in 47 innings of work. This season, Lighthouse has fashioned a 11-5 mark and 2.86 ERA in 138.1 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .264 against him and he has logged 87 strikeouts. Hazmatt Zuniga earned top rookie honors in the Vim! League with a solid performance last month. In July the Far Harbor first baseman posted a .327 average while racking up 32 hits, 10 home runs and 34 RBIs. For the year, Zuniga is batting .327 with 10 home runs, 34 RBIs and 27 runs scored. The Mount Desert Island League races are also tight. In the Small Bertha Division, the Southwest Harbor Rippers have a one-game lead over the Cliff's Edge Actors. In the Old Longfellow Division, the Oceanarium Oceanics are one game up on Eagle's Cove and two up on Haddock Cove. Even though he is a newcomer to Mount Desert Island League, Vince Eller put up some good numbers in July and earned the MDIL Batter of the Month award. He was one of Oceanarium's offensive leaders with a .387 average in 17 games. He also racked up 12 home runs, 20 RBIs, and 21 runs scored. Eller is currently batting .372 with 31 home runs and 60 RBIs. Sometimes relievers are treated like second class citizens, most of the time the award goes to the starters, but not this month. A reliever, Camden Wakewater, has been named the Pitcher of the Month in the Mount Desert Island League. In July, the Cliff's Edge relief specialist stood out with 5 saves in 9 relief appearances, a 1-0 won-lost mark and 0.00 ERA. He worked 9.2 innings, allowed 6 hits, struck out 4 and walked 5. Looking at his season stats to date, Wakewater has 11 saves in 19 relief appearances with a 2-0 mark and 0.00 ERA. In the VRL, the Vim Factory Pops are five games up on both the Glowing Grove Brainiacs and Kitteredge Rad Rabbits in the Western Atlantic. Both the Fringe Cove Champions and Longfellow Pips are tied in the Eastern Atlantic. Alman Brothers is not used to being associated with Batter of the Month-caliber players, but today the Fringe Cove right fielder joined that select company when the VIM! Rookie League announced the results of July's voting. Brothers totaled 22 hits, 28 walks, 16 home runs, 37 RBIs and 28 runs scored last month to put together a .344 batting average and .553 on-base percentage. During the current season Brothers is batting at a .282 clip with 22 home runs and 60 RBIs. He has played in 39 games and scored 43 times. In July, the best pitcher in the VIM! Rookie League was One Eye Alanis, thanks to some sensational numbers coming out of the bullpen. The Vim Factory relief ace compiled a 3-1 mark and an ERA of 2.57 in 14 innings with 15 strikeouts and no saves in no save opportunities. This season, Alanis has made 9 relief appearances, pitched 24.1 innings and struck out 30 with a record of 4 wins and 2 losses. He has compiled a 3.70 ERA and saved 0 games. MYL Awards Jay McLeod of the Cliff's Edge Wolves had a fine season this year and today he accepted the Most Valuable Player Award for 2311. The 14-year-old right fielder put up a .419 average and a .602 on-base percentage, piling up 52 hits, 12 doubles, 5 triples, 11 home runs, 31 RBIs and 35 runs scored. He received 6 first place votes out of a possible 8. Leopold Necesany of the National Park Rangers finished second in voting with 2 first place votes, while Brahm Bhagwat of the Far Harbor Dockdwellers finished third. At the age of 14, the Sunset Park catcher has been named the winner of the Great Diamond Island League Most Valuable Player Award. He had a .404 batting average and a .504 on-base percentage this year. In 35 games he piled up 42 hits, 7 doubles, 1 triple, 4 home runs, 20 RBIs and 24 runs scored. Posting 6 wins and a 1.75 ERA was only part of the story for the National Park superstar. For his outstanding performance in 2311 he was chosen as the Mount Desert Island Four Pitcher of the Year Award winner. From start to finish Penguin never let up. In 10 starts he recorded 6 wins and 1 loss, 66.2 innings, 105 strikeouts, 45 walks, yielded 50 hits, and permitted opposing batters to hit .203 against him. He received 8 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Phlox Denobu of the Cliff's Edge Wolves finished second in voting, while Sisto Bianchetti of the Beaver Creek Bowlers finished third. He capped off a sensational 6-4 season by taking home the coveted Pitcher of the Year Award today. Making 11 starts, he tossed 84.1 innings, struck out 127, walked 6 and registered a 1.81 ERA. But he certainly seems to be a quick study, as the National Park Rangers reliever was better than all others this year and has captured the 2311 Mount Desert Island Four Reliever of the Year Award. "I hope to win this a few more times before all is said and done in my career," the Augusta, Maine native said. For the season, Gulper had 7 saves in 13 relief appearances, which totaled 16.1. He fanned 23 betters, while walking 6 and put up a record of 4-0 to go with his 1.10 ERA. He received 7 first place votes out of a possible 8. Oren Ishli of the Beaver Creek Bowlers finished second in voting with 1 first place vote, while Padraig Turner of the National Park Rangers finished third. But he'll certainly be getting a lot more respect now, as the Echo Point Glowers rising star has won the Great Diamond Island League Reliever of the Year Award for 2311. He captured the award on the strength of his 0.00 ERA over 16 innings. He also had 8 saves in 14 relief appearances, 26 strikeouts and only 3 walks. He received 8 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Reece Leith of the Sunset Park Anglers finished second in voting, while Heydar Mouravov of the Diamond Cove Fort Knights finished third. Diamond Ball battered North Charles Association pitchers all July and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award. "I've been around Commonwealth Baseball Organization long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 27-year-old Ball told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month." In 25 games, Ball hit .465 with 13 home runs, 35 RBIs and scored 28 runs. So far this year, Ball is batting .334 with 24 home runs and 76 RBIs. SCA Hitter - At only 24 years of age, Actually Aucoin could very well have many more months like this last one during his career. That would be great news for fans of the Atom Cats, as July was one to remember for the right fielder and he has captured the South Charles Association Batter of the Month award. On the month he hit .384 with 10 home runs, 28 RBIs and 27 runs scored. This year, Aucoin is batting .339 with 124 hits, 20 home runs, 69 RBIs, 55 walks, .421 OBP and has scored 79 runs. NCA Pitcher - Shaak Ti was on cloud nine the entire month of July, capping it off with the North Charles Association Pitcher of the Month honors. The Starlight starter was spectacular in 6 starting assignments with 5 wins and no losses, 45 innings pitched, 35 strikeouts and a fine 0.60 ERA. Currently Ti has a 11-9 won-lost record in 25 starts with a 3.42 ERA. He also has 106 strikeouts in 150 innings. SCA Pitcher - Heaven Fontenot of Goodneighbor excelled on the mound in July with a 5-1 record and was named the Pitcher of the Month in the South Charles Association. Fontenot restricted opposing batters to 39 base hits and a .215 batting average. He rang up 29 strikeouts in 48 innings of work, surrendered 10 walks, and fashioned a 1.69 ERA. In 25 starts this season, Fontenot has crafted a 18-5 record with a 1.73 ERA. NCA Rookie - La'Ray Kalel of the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud was rock-solid and steady on the hill this month. He spun a fine 5-1 won-lost mark and 4.54 ERA in 7 starts to get the North Charles Association Rookie of the Month honors. Kalel had a very impressive July, finishing with 27 strikeouts in 39.2 innings and holding opposing hitters to a .273 average. Currently Kalel has a record of 10-10 with 106 strikeouts and 30 walks in 139 innings and a 4.34 ERA. SCA Rookie - Jay Gabby is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest South Charles Association Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers. In July the Goodneighbor hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .354 average with 34 hits, 7 home runs and 25 RBIs. This year, Gabby has hit at a .316 clip with 49 RBIs, 14 home runs and 48 runs scored. MML Analysis The 2311 regular season is now history, and all the championship contenders have been determined. The Massachusetts Minor League playoffs will begin in just a few days. This is the renowned "Second Season," which decides the league's top team. The winner of the Massachussetts Minor Series will be this year's champions. To win the Massachusetts Minor League title is the zenith of any baseball career. Players on postseason qualifiers will get the chance of a lifetime beginning today with the League Championship Series, where both heroes and goats will arise, but only one team will emerge as the Massachusetts Minor Series champion. The playoffs are a time for managers to map out pitching and batting matchups and on-the-field strategy. Rivalries soar to new heights and destiny's fickle finger holds the fate of the teams and players. The League Championship Series begins today with these games: Watertown Armorers (FHE) vs Finch Farm Shamrocks (Nah) and Castle Strength (Qui) vs Worcester Cannons (FtH). Posting a .359 batting average to date, Stripe has 20 home runs and 56 RBIs. SL Hitter - Captain Kirk Abalon has a lot going for him. He rang up 33 strikeouts in 55.2 innings of work, surrendered 11 walks and crafted a 1.94 ERA. McMinn has started 28 times this year, pitched 197.2 innings, fanned 140 batters and walked 43. Posting a 7-0 record and a 2.98 ERA, the Worcester Cannons starter held opposing hitters to a .184 batting average while striking out 45 in 60.1 innings and giving up 17 walks. So far this season, Greentop has 9 wins and no losses and a 2.81 ERA. BMU Playoffs The Mayoral Shelter Tricentennials (BH) are champions, today and forever. The Tricentennials topped the Taffington Boathouse Spy Hunters (Egr) 2-1 at The Launch today to claim the Boston Minor Series crown. "Nobody can take this away from us, not ever," said series MVP and right fielder Precious Puppy after his club had sealed the victory. "We worked hard and we accomplished our goal." The atmosphere was electric as the newly-crowned champs stormed the field at the conclusion of the game. Fans cheered, gloves flew in the air, high fives and hugs were the order of the day. "From day one of spring training, I could see it in their eyes," said Mayoral Shelter manager Josh Scrapper. "The players had that look of intensity, of hunger, of a desire to accomplish something great, and today they did that. They're champions of the world." The Tricentennials took the series 3-0. The new titleholders completed the regular season with a first-place finish in the Massachusetts Association Glowing Sea League and a 54-34 record. He really bewildered league hitters, finishing July with an excellent 4-0 record and 0.56 ERA. The Spy Hunters hurler made 4 starts and surrendered 26 hits in 32 innings. He struck out 21 and walked 4. Thus far this season, How has worked 162.2 innings with 149 strikeouts en route to a 16-3 record and a 2.27 ERA. MA Pitcher - Stranger Backrubman had an outstanding July -- so good that the Massachusetts Association presented him with the Pitcher of the Month Award earlier today. "There's no way to know where the Tricentennials would be without Backrubman," one fan is quoted as saying. In July Backrubman dominated the competition, running up a 5-0 record, a 2.45 ERA and 33 strikeouts in 36.2 innings. This year, Backrubman has made 17 starts, thrown 122.2 innings, fanned 104 batters and walked 55. His won-lost record is 10-2 with a 3.23 ERA. GBRL Players of the Month NL Hitter - When Bob Lem stepped up to the plate in July he did it with confidence, and today he was honored with the North League Batter of the Month award. The young Kingsport third baseman posted a .525 batting average with 6 home runs, 21 RBIs and scored 14 runs. Lem also worked pitchers for 6 walks to post a .587 on-base percentage. In 33 games this season, Lem has compiled a .466 batting average with 34 hits and 11 home runs. He has also scored 23 times and knocked in 29 runs. SL Hitter - For a rookie just breaking in, Timelord Marvel certainly put together a successful month. It was good enough to win the SL Batter of the Month award for July. The 18-year-old catcher for the Freight Depot Collectors hit .425 with 9 home runs, 23 RBIs and 16 runs scored. This year, Marvel has 13 home runs and a .240 batting average. NL Pitcher - This month the North League spotlight fell on pitcher Dew Ober of the Union Hope Lifegivers. What a July he had! A fine 3-0 won-lost record, 2.61 ERA, 4 starts, 31 innings pitched and 53 strikeouts -- good enough to get him the NL Pitcher of the Month. This year, Ober has a 12-6 mark in 22 starts with a 3.65 ERA. He has given up 144 hits in 157.2 innings, struck out 205 and issued 40 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .238 batting average against him. SL Pitcher - The hottest hurler in the South League last month was Aval Atheron of the Poseidon Energy Mongrels. He caught the attention of everybody in the league with some eye-catching stats, good enough to win the SL Pitcher of the Month. In July, Atheron starred with an impressive 4-1 record. In 5 starts he gave up 21 base hits and struck out 48 in 35.2 innings with a 2.27 ERA. Checking out his stats for the season, Atheron has notched 12 wins and 3 losses in 22 starts. His ERA is 3.66 and he's struck out 202 batters in 155 innings. CYL Award Winners NR MVP - The future looks extremely bright for Prax Meng. At the age of 14, many players are still trying to find their way in Commonwealth Youth League. Meng has not only found his way, he's already established himself as one of the game's brightest stars, today being named the winner of the North Region Most Valuable Player Award. "I didn't expect to hit .361 this year, that's for sure," the second baseman said. The Boston Harbor Harborfellows star also put up a .478 on-base percentage this year, with 82 hits, 16 doubles, no triples, 32 home runs, 73 RBIs and 56 runs scored. August 2311
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 17 August 2311 Worcester Takes MML Sometimes the winner is the one who got the lucky bounces and the lucky calls, and sometimes the winner is just the one who played better. It was the latter case in 2311, as the Worcester Cannons (FtH) topped the Finch Farm Shamrocks (Nah) 3-2 tonight at Finch Family Park to win the Massachussetts Minor Series. It was the 1st title in franchise history. "When you play for championships, you have to play better than the team in the other dugout. We did that in this series, and all year. Now we're the best team in baseball," said Worcester first baseman E.R. Ortiz, who was named series MVP. The Cannons took the series 4-1. The new titleholders completed the regular season with a first-place finish in the Stars League Ted Williams Division and a 75-33 record. Worcester manager Darnell Bright grinned and nodded when asked to comment on Ortiz's words. "E.R. said it best -- we played better than the other team," the skipper said. Hometown officials announced they were already planning a "grand celebration" for the winners in the days to come.

Season Pass Association
---------------------------------------------------------- Nuka News Update Reporting on the NWL, APL, NWLR, and BBL Leagues by Evan Guy 17 August 2311 NWL Regular Season Comes to an End The 2311 NWL season is complete with the 13th Nuka Series set. The participants will be the North Bradberton Division's Wild Gatorclaws versus the South Bradberton Division's Orange Tourists. The Gatorclaws will make their first appearance in the Nuka Series. This season's 58-32 finish is the best in franchise history. The last time Wild finished above .500 was in 2301 when they finished 43-41. On offense, Wild finished 1st in runs scored (509) along with the top Batter WAR (17.5) and stolen bases (118). LF Fried Tatos Smith (.422/9/54) led the NWL in batting average and finished with the third-highest average in league history (Melon Sanderson, .467, 2301 is the record). Jim Waples (71 SB) set the stolen bases record, beating Steve Wallace's 2305 record (65). SS Bubba Shrimp (.383/18/73) also set an NWL record with 38 doubles, beating Edgar Virus' 2308 record (35). Shrimp also led the Gatorclaws in home runs. On the mound, Wild was 1st in runs allowed (404), to go with the 2nd-best Starters ERA (4.12) and Bullpen ERA (4.43). Ace SP Chick Aubrey (12-6, 3.71) led the team. He will be joined by SP Justin Quast (6-1, 3.15) and SP Jackie Taylor (7-3, 4.22) as the playoff starters. In the bullpen, CL Lionel Minelli (27 SV, 2.02) leads the bullpen. SP Bedpost Krehl (10-4, 5.16) joins the bullpen. For Orange, they are making their 6th Nuka Series appearance, though they are 1-5 entering the playoffs in franchise history. Their sole championship season came in 2308 when the Tourists defeated Quantum in five games. They lost the Season Pass Series in seven games to Grand Hotel. On offense, the Tourists were 4th in runs scored (441). Their best offensive category was home runs where they finished tied for 3rd (79). 2B Yorkie Tallsky (.355/17/71) was the team leader in homers, RBI, and stolen bases (18). LF Doman Northsea (.372/8/46) was the team leader in batting average. RF Bumper Robinson (.323/10/43) and 1B Rich Texan (.332/7/54) also greatly contributed to the offensive output. Orange was 2nd in runs allowed (413), including finishing 3rd in Starters ERA (4.55) and 1st in Bullpen ERA (4.07). The playoff starters will be Allen Puckett (8-8, 3.95), Orion Sapunxiu (7-8, 4.46), and Noe Norman (3-5, 5.98). Bull Johnson (3-8, 5.05) moves to the bullpen to join CL Shoestring Caravelli (17 SV, 3.52). RP Wuguns Tommy (1-1, 1.93) was the best pitcher out of the bullpen. Vim! View Veracious, Vivacious, Vainglorious Vision of the Vim! Leagues by Vikky Vail Echo Lake, Far Harbor to Play for Vim! Series The Echo Lake Harbormen (52-38) won the Fog Division, and the Far Harbor Ghoul Whales (52-38) won the Harbor Division. That means the two teams will meet for the 2311 Vim! Series to determine the champions of Mount Desert Island. Echo Lake won the season series, 5-4, so will play as host of Games 1 and 2. The Harbormen are making their fourth trip to the Vim! Series in just the 11th season. Echo Lake has gone 2-1 in the Series, winning in 2302 and again in 2307. In 2302, the Harbormen went on to sweep the Season Pass Series over the Victory Cave Crickets of the NWL. They were swept by the Cherry Ghoulrillas in 2307. Echo Lake is an offensive-centric team, leading the VL in all offensive categories but stolen bases where they finished 2nd (105). Their 599 runs scored was nearly 100 better than 2nd (National Park at 501). It also set the Vim! League record, beating Dalton Farm's 589 in 2307. Part of that record-setting season was due to LF Witcher Craft who set records for batting average (.448), OBP (.482), runs (90), and doubles (42). RF Chris Knickerbocker (.417/30/108) joined Witchcraft in the .400 club and also set the WAR record (6.09), beating his own 2305 record (5.40). Other contributors on this deadly offense are 1B Chris Dominoes (.374/21/95), 3B Ryan Hurst (.294/16/64), and C Zarbon Z (.260/15/44). On the mound, the Harbormen are not as good, finishing 7th in runs allowed (508), Starters ERA (4.84), and Bullpen ERA (5.82). Ace SP Jason Woods (13-9, 3.37) is pretty good and will be joined by Cory Slone (10-3, 5.69) and Steven Nebraska (5-3, 4.09) as playoff starters. CL Mike Stiner (16 SV, 4.62) has two decent setup men in Kevin Goodman (3-2, 3.86) and Loweland Waterdrop (0-1, 2.92). Far Harbor is making its fifth trip to the Vim! Series with its only Series victory coming in the Vim! League's inaugural season of 2301 when the Ghoul Whales, also known as the Gwhales at that time, downed the Brooke's Head Behemoths in a series sweep. Far Harbor's last appearance was in 2307 when they were defeated by Echo Lake in five games. On offense, the Ghoul Whales were 5th in runs scored (463) with their best offensive categories being OBP (3rd at .357) and stolen bases (3rd at 79). The three best offensive players were 1B Hazmatt Zuniga (.351/15/50), RF Drew Buntrock (.309/10/52/22 SB), and 2B Jarrod Sebiess (.294/13/51). On the mound, Far Harbor was 4th in runs allowed (450) with the best Starters ERA (4.06) and 8th-best Bullpen ERA (5.84). SPs Keith Lighthouse (13-5, 3.31) and Alex Ruder (9-10, 3.67) both had ERAs below 4.00. Lighthouse finished 2nd to Acadia's Wearya Going (3.12) for the Vim! League lead. SP Kap Kooke (11-5, 4.11) is the third starter in the playoffs. The closer job has been a rotating affair all season with Enrique Rodriguez (12 SV, 7.02) and Stage Room (10 SV, 2.14) splitting duties. Room is expected to give way in the playoffs to SP John Kutner (4-9, 5.39).

With that stated, Nordhagen Beach has done nothing as of late, including currently on a four-game losing streak, to guarantee it will take the BL. Nahant is just one game back and seems to be the team playing the best in August. The Party Boys' recent lack of success can be attributed to the starters struggling in August. The Boys are now 6th in runs allowed, including falling to 5th in Starters ERA (4.25) and 7th in Bullpen ERA (4.78). Beachboy Nut (14-4, 2.56) only has one loss in August, but it may be one too many, especially with Deedee Martinson (10-9, 4.56) and Ugio Church (10-9, 4.45) struggling with a combined 1-6 so far in August. Church has lost his last five decisions going back to July 14. His last victory was July 4. Institute League Starlight has an eight-game lead and a Magic # of 6, meaning that their last challenge of the season is clinching the #1 seed in the NCA. Fort Hagen and Sunshine Tidings have both gone 4-6 in their last 10, allowing Bunker Hill to hang around to possibly displace them for 2nd place. The Chemists still seem as though they should be a contender to win the title. They are 4th in runs scored (616) and 7th in runs allowed (561). The Chemists have one of the most talented starting rotations, but only Eugene Gym (11-6, 3.15) has been dominating games. Team officials have not given up hope on 38-year-old Sheng Kawolski (10-10, 5.28) as getting it together for the postseason. Doug Creep (12-8, 4.29) can also devastate opposing lineups from time-to-time. Minutemen League University Point has already clinched the ML, so the only question remaining is if the Deathclaws will be the ML's only representative. Both Spectacle Island (4 games back) and Quincy (4.5 games back) are still in the playoff race, but they really need one of the top RL teams to go cold in the last two weeks. Quincy has been making its case, tying the Claws for the CBO's 2nd-best record in the last 10 (8-2). The Gunners have been middle of the pack most of the season statistically, and they are currently 8th in runs scored (579) and 7th in runs allowed (560). Should Quincy make the playoffs, they become a dangerous team with the 8th man in their lineup, C Slush Carfixer (.238/17/50) leading all 8th hitters in homers. That means that the Gunners can generate runs from anywhere in the lineup. Also, with Silk Inflosse (4-7, 3.24) moving from the bullpen to a starter's role, Quincy's playoff starters, which would include Trolley Dodge (8-6, 3.82) and Village Idiot Recker (12-7, 3.55), would be a tough rotation to beat. Railroad League Egret is on a six-game winning streak and a CBO-best 9-1 in their last 10, allowing the Ninjas to surpass Roxbury for 1st place by a game with 13 to play. On the second tier, FHE, Oberland, and Vault 81 are all jostling for position and all hoping to be good enough to maintain a playoff seed. Diamond City may be mathematically alive by their games back but the math does not add up for any path to the playoffs. For the Swatters, they are the one team we did not feature yet this season. I know, I know. I should not be angry that my pookie bear was sent off to a farm, but I guess I will take the advice of my big sis and feature them now. Diamond City is 11th in runs scored (535) and 10th in runs allowed (666-yeah, we see how evil you are, Moe). The offensive stars are performing in LF Todd Smithfield (.324/21/77) and RF Magnum Peaeye (.301/26/83). However, ace SP Paul Stains (11-9, 4.15) has struggled with allowing too many runs while not getting enough run support. No other starter has below a 5.00 ERA. CBO Standings CBO Players of the Week August 7 - Brian DeLong is respected by most Salem Witch Hats fans for his no-frills style of play. The 26-year-old right fielder went about his business with vigor last week to grab the North Charles Association Player of the Week honors. He compiled a .615 average (8-for-13) with 3 home runs, 6 RBIs and 4 runs scored. For the season, DeLong is hitting .294, batted in 67 runs with 22 home runs and 62 runs scored. His hard work and hustle paid off this week. The hard-working and hard-playing Homestay Lovetap was rewarded with the South Charles Association Player of the Week honors. The scrappy Spectacle Island Reapers first baseman hit .438 while collecting 7 hits in 16 at-bats, 3 home runs and 10 RBIs. This season in 100 games, Lovetap has hit at a .291 clip with 101 hits, 32 home runs, 85 RBIs and 62 runs scored. August 14 - Salem sports fans can't stop singing the praises of Brian DeLong, who has been selected the North Charles Association Player of the Week. DeLong was in a comfort zone all week, finishing with a .481 average (13-for-27), 11 RBIs and 4 home runs. This year, DeLong is hitting at a .308 pace with 26 home runs and 78 RBIs. He has played in 100 games and scored 69 times. Cave Dweller Bourgeois demonstrated his potential to be a star in the game last week and today he took home the South Charles Association Player of the Week Award. The Spectacle Island third baseman wreaked havoc on opposing pitchers last week, pounding them for a .560 average (14-for-25) with 3 home runs and 14 RBIs on his way to claiming the honor. In this current campaign Bourgeois is hitting at a .259 clip with 20 home runs and 61 RBIs. August 21 - 18-year-old Plastic Augmon sent shock waves through Commonwealth Baseball Organization last week with an eye-popping performance that brought him the North Charles Association Player of the Week Award. A newcomer to the league, Augmon made the establishment sit up and take notice, punishing opposing pitchers with a .500 average, 8 hits in 16 at-bats, 2 home runs and 8 runs batted in. Where the Cambridge Coursers second baseman goes from here, only the baseball gods know for sure, but Augmon certainly made his mark last week. Posting a .302 batting average to date, Augmon has 8 home runs and 50 RBIs. Veteran Barker Cocoa had a great week at the plate for the Deathclaws to capture the majority of votes for Player of the Week in the South Charles Association. The 33-year-old University Point first baseman built a .455 average on the strength of 10 hits in 22 at-bats, 4 home runs and 10 RBIs. For the year, Cocoa has hit .366 with 28 home runs, 90 RBIs and scored 108 runs. CBO Draft Preview Here are five more prospects whose names we could see called in the 2311 Draft: 1. 1B Rad Rob Alba, SR, Eastham Rads - Alba did not become a starter until his senior season as a late bloomer, and that may potentially cost him in the draft. Scouts rate him as a late-1st but that depends heavily on two factors, including how many decent hitters get slotted into 1B when they are no good at defense. Scouts see Alba having great potential to develop into a power hitter, though he may be a boom or bust type hitter. Really, he needs the right system. 2. RF Esau Babz, SR, Weymouth Locksmiths - The other of the Babz brothers, Esau is both really smart and has a long frame that is continuing to fill out. That gives him lots of untapped potential to be an effective power hitter. Though he had an injury-riddled junior season, Babz hit 28 homers his sophomore season and 26 his senior season. Not as good with contact as his twin brother, Esau still can be a .300+ hitter at the next level. On defense, there will be few better corner OFs. He could even work his way into a CF position now that he is not playing with his slightly faster brother. 3. SP Alex Language, SR, Beantown Sprouts - In his four years in the CYL, Language went 11-4, 14-0, 13-1, and 6-1. His senior season was cut short, but he is fully healthy now. Scouts already love his cutter and slider in his seven(!!!)-pitch repertoire. He has great movement and can top out at 99 MPH, but he will need to work a lot on his control and limiting his walks before he is ready to be a 1 or 2 in a rotation. 4. 3B Tarry Chik, SR, Truro Hatchlings - Scouts are not sure where Chik may go, but he has a combination of an effective bat with a lot of potential power. He batted .347/14/44 in his senior season, so the power will have to come, though he did hit 25 homers in his sophomore season. Chik can be one of those .333/25 guys in the CBO, which would make him a valuable asset to any team. He is decent at 3B, which will make him attractive in the 1st round. Balls hit to him will pretty much result in an out. 5. LF Bill Duggle, College JR, Boston College Eagles - Duggle is a draft-eligible college player who may be among the most CBO-ready players in the 2311 Draft. Scouts project Duggle as a middle-of-the-order force. He is a plus player at understanding the strikezone and swinging at the right pitches. While he may never be a contender to top the league in any statistical category, he should hold his own. He transitioned from 1B to OF during his junior season, so he still has some growing pains, but scouts project him as a RF at the next level. ---------------------------------------------------------- Nuka News Update Reporting on the NWL, APL, NWLR, and BBL Leagues by Evan Guy 28 August 2311 Wild Wins in Seven With a 6-5 win over the Orange Tourists at Angry Anaconda Field at Safari Adventure today, the Wild Gatorclaws wrapped up their 1st title in team history. The Gatorclaws left little doubt who was the better team. Celebrating a banner year, "team" was the word of the day in the victorious clubhouse after the game. "Hitting, pitching, fielding; those are all things you need to win, but most importantly you need a team, a team that works together toward the same collective goal," said Wild manager Earl Arnett. "Our players felt that way all year, and they played that way. When one guy had an off day, 24 others stepped up their game and filled the void." A jovial mood filled the air as Wild celebrated into the night. The city's mayor said parade plans were underway and a "huge celebration" would be in order. "I hope they have a big celebration," Orange manager Cool Tato Collins said. "They deserved to win this series and they deserve to celebrate it." Game 1 - Orange 6, Wild 5 Road Win Lifts Orange to 1-0 Lead in NS The Wild Gatorclaws got a strong 5.2 innings from right-hander Chick Aubrey but failed to take Game 1 of the Nuka Series from the Orange Tourists. Aubrey held the Tourists to 1 run on 5.2 strong innings but Orange took the game by a score of 6-5 and now lead the best-of-7 series, 1-0. The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Percent Lambert came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Wild pitcher Lionel Minelli, he hit a 0-2 sinker for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Orange on top, 6-4. "You never want to start a series with a loss, but I saw a lot of good things today," Gatorclaws manager Earl Arnett said. "I'm not worrying. Yet." The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Angry Anaconda Field at Safari Adventure in Bradberton. Game 2 - Orange 5, Wild 0 Sapunxiu Handcuffs Gatorclaws, Tourists Seize 2-0 Advantage in NS The Orange Tourists got an exceptional performance from starter Orion Sapunxiu, who silenced the Wild offense en route to a 5-0 shutout win in Game 2 of the Nuka Series. The Gatorclaws could never get a bead on the right-handed Sapunxiu, who threw 8.0 innings of shutout ball. The Tourists now hold a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-7 series. Sapunxiu confounded Wild hitters. Over 8 innings, he allowed no runs on 7 hits. "It's about putting our team in the best position to win ballgames," said Sapunxiu. Game 3 is scheduled for Tuesday at Fizztop Mountain Park at Nuka-Town USA in Bradberton. Game 3 - Wild 4, Orange 1 Tourists Hammered by Shrimp, Drop Game 3 to Gatorclaws The Wild Gatorclaws have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Orange Tourists, winning, 4-1, at Fizztop Mountain Park at Nuka-Town USA. Gatorclaws shortstop Bubba Shrimp went 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The win cuts the deficit facing the Gatorclaws to 2-1 in the best-of-7 Nuka Series. Shrimp had an important at-bat with the bases empty in the top of the sixth, when he hit a solo home run. The Gatorclaws went on to win. Wild manager Earl Arnett said his team played a "no nonsense" game. The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Fizztop Mountain Park at Nuka-Town USA in Bradberton. Game 4 - Wild 6, Orange 3 Wild Win Evens Series at 2 The Wild Gatorclaws defeated the Orange Tourists, 6-3, in Game 4 of the Nuka Series. Making an impact was third baseman David Mabry, who went 3-4 with 2 doubles, while scoring 2 times. The win moves Wild into a 2-2 tie with Orange in the series. Wild used a timely hit from Norm Ortiz to get the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Gatorclaws ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a difference-maker. "I really like what we did out there today," Ortiz said after the game. The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Fizztop Mountain Park at Nuka-Town USA in Bradberton. Game 5 - Orange 7, Wild 4 Pivotal Game 5 Goes to Host Tourists, 7-4 Orange Tourists second baseman Yorkie Tallsky was the difference-maker at Fizztop Mountain Park at Nuka-Town USA, as he led his club to victory in a pivotal Game 5 of the Nuka Series. The Tourists took the 7-4 win over the Wild Gatorclaws to seize a 3-2 lead in the best-of-7 series. Left Fielder Doman Northsea made an impact for Orange, when he swatted a run-scoring double off Justin Quast in the bottom of the fourth. For the contest, Northsea went 2-4 with 2 doubles and a walk, while scoring 2. "The vibe's good," said Orange manager Cool Tato Collins. "We've got to keep it going." Game 6 is scheduled for Saturday at Angry Anaconda Field at Safari Adventure in Bradberton. Game 6 - Wild 2, Orange 1 Gatorclaws Clip Tourists, 2-1, in NS Contest In a crucial game, the Wild Gatorclaws put on their best show, beating the Orange Tourists by a final score of 2-1. Noe Noman threw 6.1 innings of shutout ball. Wild and Orange are now tied at 3 wins apiece in the best-of-7 affair. The clutch hit was provided by Axel Rawlings. He delivered a walk-off run-scoring single off Shoestring Caravelli in the bottom of the tenth. "Nice to see our side come away with the win," Rawlings said after the game. The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Angry Anaconda Field at Safari Adventure in Bradberton. NWL Minors Amusement Park League has put the wraps on another season. In a few days the playoffs will launch in grand style with the league's elite clubs going up against one another for the ultimate payoff -- the Amusement Park Series crown. For the baseball fan it doesn't get any better than this -- a time of tense duels, where the outcome of the season hinges on one pitch, one play, one hit -- or one break. There is nothing quite like the playoffs. For a team that has never won a Amusement Park Series, capturing the APL North Division is a good start. That's the situation the Kiddie Kingdom Cappies find themselves in as their division title today became official. "We might not have a lot of championship experience as a franchise, but when push comes to shove, I believe in these guys," said left fielder Bob Hatman. "We want to be that team to bring the title home to Kiddie Kingdom." Team manager Ernie Plopp said it won't be easy to capture the Amusement Park Series, but noted that "nothing worth doing ever is." Members of the Nuka Town Operators say winning the APL South Division title is special, but ultimately they will only be remembered with a championship season. "We want to put ourselves in the history books and win the Amusement Park Series," said closer Steve Slocums. "We all believe it can happen, it's just a matter of putting in the hard work and getting the breaks." It's the 2nd division win for the club and they will be vying for their 2nd Amusement Park Series win. "To see the team get here, it makes you believe in yourself and all the systems you've put in place," said manager Flotsam DiPasquale. The "second season" begins today in the Amusement Park League as the playoffs get under way. The clubs vying for postseason supremacy in the Amusement Park Series are paired together in these matchups: Nuka Town Operators vs Kiddie Kingdom Cappies. The 2311 NWL Rookie League season has ended. Most clubs and most players are headed home for the year, but a few good teams will head to the playoffs, which are slated to start soon. They will get a chance to be the league's champion. All they have to do is win the NWL Rookie Series -- a not-so-easy task. To win it takes a combination of good pitching, good defense and timely hitting -- and occasionally some lucky bounces of the ball. The Nuka Jolly Elves celebrated their North Bradberton Division championship tonight, but relief was more readily visible than jubilation for the players. "The whole season is such a long battle, so to take the division in the final day is really remarkable," said second baseman Fisher Ryba. "It honestly just feels like a huge weight is off all our shoulders. Now we can relax and focus on the playoffs." But of course, the playoffs won't be without a fair bit of stress and anxiety too. But team manager Private Benjamin Avila said his team is good under pressure and will rise to the occasion. "These guys are battle tested," he said. This was the 2nd North Bradberton Division title in team history. Nuka Plant baseball fans are celebrating right along with the Nuka Plant Electrics after a razor-thin South Bradberton Division victory. With the division in doubt going into the final day of the season, the Electrics have outlasted the competition to take the 1st division crown in franchise history. "We don't have much time to enjoy it before we're thinking about the playoffs," said reliever Oogie Boogie Perez. "It took a lot of character to come out on top in this one." The Electrics have compiled a record of 33-27 this season. The NWL Rookie League playoffs are here -- so let the games begin! It's time to crown the NWL Rookie Series champion for 2311. Now that the regular season has ended and the best ballclubs have been decided, it's playoff time. Any ballplayer worth his salt wants those coveted championship rings. A real ballplayer knows that he needs those little golden treasures to seal his fame in the league annals. The second season is here starting today with some sparkling series on tap: Nuka Jolly Elves vs Nuka Plant Electrics. Vim! View Veracious, Vivacious, Vainglorious Vision of the Vim! Leagues by Vikky Vail Harbormen Take Title It was a hard-fought battle for both teams to make it this far. But as the saying goes, "to the victors go the spoils." For the victorious Echo Lake Harbormen, that meant the Vim! League Vim! Series trophy. The Harbormen took a 7-2 victory over the Far Harbor Ghoul Whales at The Lumber Yard, winning their 3rd championship after taking the series 4-3. "We've got grit," said Harbormen shortstop Bucketfoot Szymanski, who was named MVP of the series. "We know how to win when we have to." The new titleholders completed the regular season with a first-place finish in the Vim! League Fog Division and a 52-38 record. Game 1 - Far Harbor 4, Echo Lake 3 Ghoul Whales Edge Harbormen, 4-3, to Open VS Leave it to the veteran. The Far Harbor Ghoul Whales got a great start from 35-year-old right-hander Keith Lighthouse, as Far Harbor won the contest, 4-3, at The Lumber Yard. Lighthouse threw 7.0 innings allowing 1 run in the win, which allowed the Far Harbor to grab a 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Lindal Mariner, who finished 4th in the VIML in stolen bases with 18 in 2305, had a direct impact on the outcome. Mariner contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put Far Harbor up, 4-3. "I'm glad we can make our fans happy with a win," Mariner told the Far Harbor Citizen. The next game is set to be played tomorrow at The Lumber Yard in Tremont. Game 2 - Echo Lake 6, Far Harbor 2 Raucous The Lumber Yard Crowd Propels Harbormen to 6-2 Victory; Series Tied at 1 Behind a bravura effort from starter Cory Slone, the Echo Lake Harbormen topped the Far Harbor Ghoul Whales by the score of 6-2 and got their first win in the 2311 Vim! Series. Slone threw 7.0 innings allowing 2 runs for the Harbormen. The win moves Echo Lake into a 1-1 tie with Far Harbor. In the bottom of the seventh, Echo Lake left fielder Witcher Craft had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and two out, Craft stroked a 2-run single to center. It made the score 5-2, Echo Lake. For the game, he was 1 for 4, while adding 2 RBI. "Things broke our way today and that's great," Harbormen manager Good Night Cunningham said. "It's important, though, to stay focused and not pat yourself on the back too much. We aren't done yet." Game 3 is scheduled for Tuesday at Last Plank Park in Bar Harbor. Game 3 - Echo Lake 8, Far Harbor 6 Knickerbocker Blasts Ghoul Whales, Harbormen Take Game 3, 8-6 Riding the 4-hit performance of right fielder Chris Knickerbocker, the Echo Lake Harbormen got a road win against the Far Harbor Ghoul Whales, 8-6, in Game 3 of the Vim! Series. Knickerbocker went 4 for 4 with a home run, a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 3 for the Harbormen, who now lead the best-of-7 series, 2 games to 1. A key moment came with no one out in the top of the third. That's when Knickerbocker hit a curveball from John Kutner for a 2-run home run, putting Echo Lake up, 5-0. "Things broke our way today and that's great," Harbormen manager Good Night Cunningham said. "It's important, though, to stay focused and not pat yourself on the back too much. We aren't done yet." The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Last Plank Park in Bar Harbor. Game 4 - Far Harbor 2, Echo Lake 1, 11 inn. Ghoul Whales Clip Harbormen, 2-1, in VS Contest The Far Harbor Ghoul Whales got a strong game from starter Keith Lighthouse, but it was some clutch hitting that ultimately delivered the win. The Ghoul Whales took the 2-1 win over the Echo Lake Harbormen in Game 4 of the Vim! Series in a 11th inning walk-off. The win capped off a fine outing for the right-handed Lighthouse. Lighthouse threw 7.1 innings of shutout ball in the win, which brought the Ghoul Whales into a 2-2 tie in the best-of-7 series. The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 11th inning, when Far Harbor first baseman Adam Crewmate, facing Kevin Goodman, had a run-scoring single. It gave the Ghoul Whales the 2-1 win. "Keith pitched like a champ," said Far Harbor manager Jason Bassfish. The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Last Plank Park in Bar Harbor. Game 5 - Far Harbor 6, Echo Lake 4 Critical Game 5 Goes to Host Ghoul Whales, 6-4 Game 5 was big. So was Alex Ruder. In leading Far Harbor to a crucial 6-4 victory over the Echo Lake Harbormen at Last Plank Park, the Far Harbor starter rose to the occasion, tossing 7 good innings. Ruder threw 7.0 innings allowing 4 runs as the Ghoul Whales defended their home field to seize a 3-2 lead in the best-of-7 Vim! Series. The game was on the line with two out in the top of the eighth inning, but Stage Room didn't flinch. With the bases loaded and Echo Lake trailing 6-4, Room retired Dell Refuge to end the threat. "Nothing to it," said Room, with a wink. Game 6 is scheduled for Saturday at The Lumber Yard in Tremont. Game 6 - Echo Lake 8, Far Harbor 6 Dominoes Blasts Ghoul Whales, Harbormen Take Game 6, 8-6 The Echo Lake Harbormen and the Far Harbor Ghoul Whales will take the Vim! Series to a decisive 7th game. In a must-win situation, the Harbormen beat the Ghoul Whales, 8-6, at The Lumber Yard to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Echo Lake first baseman Chris Dominoes went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Witcher Craft hit a 2-run triple off John Kutner in the bottom of the third, which put the Harbormen in front, 2-1. Craft had 2 singles, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 3 for 5. Dominoes said afterward that his team has grown over the course of the season, adding: "It feels good when a plan comes together." The next game is set to be played tomorrow at The Lumber Yard in Tremont. Vim! League Minors Another Mount Desert Island League campaign is in the books. The regular season has ended and the playoffs are about to begin. It is a time of skill, talent -- and luck. And when all the games have been played, one team will survive and be crowned the 2311 Mount Desert Island Series champion. The pennant has been won, the Southwest Harbor Rippers are champions of the Small Bertha Division. Reliever Chris Rice said his team is a "gritty and determined" club that were poised to win the division from day one. "We knew the day the season opened that we'd be champions," he said. "It was just a matter of going out there and doing it." At the helm, team manager Dave Gonzalez said his club is certainly not short on confidence. "There's a lot of belief in the dugout and in the clubhouse," he said. Southwest Harbor's record currently sits at 39-19 and it's the 4th division win for the franchise. Eagle's Cove Harpooners fans have reason to celebrate, their club has won the Old Longfellow Division. "It feels good to clinch it for our fans," said left fielder Bunworth Banshee. "I know there's a lot of expectations on this team and we hope to live up to them." The division title is the team's 4th. They will now be searching for the franchise's 2nd Mount Desert Island Series victory. "We all hope the best is yet to come," said manager Scoundrel Easterling. Another regular season has played out, and the stage is set for the next level. The Mount Desert Island League playoffs are here. It has been a long, hard grind for the contending clubs to make the Mount Desert Island Series. All the playoff-bound teams want to cap off the year in glorious style by capturing the prestigious 2311 Mount Desert Island Series trophy. Each team will begin that journey today with these playoff games: Southwest Harbor Rippers vs Eagle's Cove Harpooners. The regular season has come and gone in the VIM! Rookie League and the playoffs are just over the horizon. One pitch, one play, one hit, one error -- or one call -- could decide it. This is what all the teams are playing for -- the ultimate goal -- the Vim! Rookie Series crown. It's official! The Vim Factory Pops have secured the top spot in the Western Atlantic Division. Vim Factory's manager Austin Weeks was quick to give credit to his players. "They believed in this team all year, and never gave up." It won't be an easy road for Vim Factory as they try to compete for their 5th Vim! Rookie Series victory. They have to hope that their success will translate to the post-season, which is certainly not always the case. This was the 5th division title for the team. Members of the Fringe Cove Champions say winning the Eastern Atlantic Division title is special, but ultimately they will only be remembered with a championship season. "We want to put ourselves in the history books and win the Vim! Rookie Series," said right fielder Alman Brothers. "We all believe it can happen, it's just a matter of putting in the hard work and getting the breaks." It's the 3rd division win for the club and they will be vying for their 2nd Vim! Rookie Series win. "To see the team get here, it makes you believe in yourself and all the systems you've put in place," said manager Chris Frazee. From spring training to the last out of the regular season, it has been the goal of every GM, team, manager and player to reach the VIM! Rookie League playoffs. They all aspire to win baseball's Holy Grail, the Vim! Rookie Series title. Now, for the elite teams, the first steps of that journey begin in earnest with the Vim! Rookie Series starting today. The opening playoff series will pit these teams against one another: Fringe Cove Champions vs Vim Factory Pops.

September 2311
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 1 September 2311 The September Super Post CBO Players of the Month NCA Hitter - Brian DeLong battered North Charles Association pitchers all August and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award. "I've been around Commonwealth Baseball Organization long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 26-year-old DeLong told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month." In 27 games, DeLong hit .436 with 11 home runs, 28 RBIs and scored 23 runs. This season in 117 games, DeLong is batting .319 with 30 home runs, 89 RBIs and has scored 81 times. SCA Hitter - Spectacle Island's Homestay Lovetap had a productive August and topped it off by winning the Batter of the Month citation from the South Charles Association. The 29-year-old first baseman stood out at the plate with a .356 batting average, 12 home runs, 31 RBIs and 27 runs scored. At present, Lovetap is batting .299 with 126 hits and 41 home runs. He has knocked in 106 runs and scored 83 times. NCA Pitcher - Nahant Celtics starter Cohort Williams has collected the North Charles Association Pitcher of the Month award for a run of lights-out performances. "This town really appreciates it when you're going well," said Williams. "They might boo you when you're getting knocked around, but they love you when you're mowin' them down." In August the 22-year-old compiled a 5-0 record in 6 starts with a 2.31 ERA. He threw 35 innings, fanning 21 while walking 14. In 32 starts this season, Williams has fashioned a 19-8 record and a 3.49 ERA. SCA Pitcher - Hry Caje is the latest South Charles Association Pitcher of the Month trophy winner. The Egret starter sparkled on the diamond time and again last month and finished August with an outstanding 5-0 record. In 7 starts he tossed 44 innings, posted 37 strikeouts, and sported a 2.25 ERA. His record this year is 19-5 in 31 starts and Caje has a 2.45 ERA. NCA Rookie - Last month Cohort Williams strong-armed the North Charles Association hitters and picked up 5 victories. In addition Nahant hurler also picked up the league's Rookie of the Month honors. In August the 22-year-old Williams recorded a 5-0 won-lost mark with a 2.31 ERA and 21 strikeouts in 35 innings. So far this season, Williams has a 19-8 record with a 3.49 ERA. SCA Rookie - Youngster Zod Gaycey emerged as the latest South Charles Association Rookie of the Month today. The young man from Spectacle Island deserved the honor, batting .303 with 6 home runs and 19 RBI. Is the month of August a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Gaycey enjoy the limelight. This season, Gaycey has 29 home runs and a .333 batting average. MML Season Awards LL Hitter - At the age of 23, Kevin Pullup of the Burlington Ferals could very well have his best years ahead of him. It's a startling thought when you consider the year he had in 2311 was good enough to win the right fielder the Legends League Hitter of the Year Award. "See the ball, hit the ball," he said. "That's my basic approach." The top hitter put up a .404 batting average this year, as well as a .447 on-base percentage. He played 102 games and racked up 161 hits, 30 doubles, 2 triples, 39 home runs, 101 RBIs and 91 runs scored. He received 28 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Hughley has not only found his way, he's already established himself as one of the game's brightest stars, today being named the winner of the Stars League Hitter of the Year Award. "I didn't expect to hit .355 this year, that's for sure," the right fielder said. The Providence Warlocks star also put up a .449 on-base percentage this year, with 107 hits, 8 doubles, 1 triple, 45 home runs, 94 RBIs and 78 runs scored. For the week the 32-year-old first baseman batted .500 (12-for-24) with 3 home runs, 10 runs and 16 RBIs. This year, Byrd is batting .322 with 22 home runs. He has scored 97 runs and driven in 90. 2311 CBO Playoffs
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, BCAC, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 6 September 2311 CBO Playoff Tree SCA Wildcard Round #6 Oberland T-51s (73-57) vs #3 Roxbury Rad Sox (78-52) Season Series Oberland 8, Roxbury 2 April 12-13 @Rox: Obe 12-3, Obe 7-4 May 5-7 @Obe: Rox 7-2 (10), Rox 6-3, Obe 11-5 July17-19 @Rox: Obe 14-1, Obe 13-4, Obe 6-5 (10) August 5-6 @Obe: Obe 5-0, Obe 8-3 Analysis After an eight-year absence from the playoffs, the Oberland T-51s are now making their fifth-straight appearance. In the CBO, it will be their sixth appearance overall with two trips to the Sole Survivor Series in the past three seasons (2308, 2310), both losses. Last season, the T-51s got there as the 4th seed before falling to Nordhagen Beach in six games. For Roxbury, the past few seasons have not been as kind to them after a string of six-straight playoff appearances and two Sole Survivor Series victories (2303, 2304). After missing the playoffs two consecutive seasons, the Rad Sox are now making their second-straight appearance. In 2310, they were eliminated as the #1 seed by Oberland in the Association Semifinal Round in four games of a six-game series. During the 2311 season, the T-51s continued their dominance over the Sox, winning 8 of 10, including sweeps in three of the four series. Oberland also scored 10 or more runs in four of the games, all victories. Roxbury's highest run output was a 7-2 victory in 10 innings. While the Rad Sox are considered the better team talent-wise, the T-51s seem to have their number. Looking at the Oberland offense, the T-51s finished 4th in runs scored (720). Part of that problem was that they were not good at hitting the long ball, finishing 10th in home runs (150). LF Orcin Cardinal (.345/27/82) led the team in power, with 1B/SP Lannie Tykeson (.323/20/71) right behind him. OF/SP Zaire Inquisitor (.288/17/74), 3B Joe Malone (.330/11/70), and CF Earthbound Bussey (.312/9/45/47 SB) also were top contributors for a lineup with nine good hitters and only eight slots to bat them. C Racky Westheim (.350/7/53) led the team in average. On the mound, the T-51s finished 6th in runs allowed (597), 4th in Starters ERA (4.06), and 7th in Bullpen ERA (4.93). The three starters for the playoffs are Emperry Alizm (14-11, 4.05), Inquisitor (14-5, 3.90), and Ronnie Messenger (14-8, 4.39). CL William Butcherman (30 SV, 3.86) leads the bullpen and will receive help from RP Tony "Vampire" Frazier (8-8, 3.97), Tykeson (4-4, 4.95), and RP Sheep Sanchez (0-3. 2.18). Roxbury is a statistical anomaly, finishing as the SCA's third seed despite the statistics not matching up. On offense, the Sox were 5th in runs scored (702), finishing pretty much just outside the top third of the association in all categories. 3B Donn Mattingley (.356/19/83) had overall the best season on offense for the Rad Sox. Other top contributors include C Ayag Mour (.343/17/73), 2B Emerald Sapphire (.312/18/74/28 SB), 1B Sum Downie (.246/25/76), and CF Ben Pawlak (.282/22/74/17 SB). RF Brightsun Ramos (.269/10/44/49 SB) led the team in steals. The Rad Sox were even worse on the mound, finishing 9th in runs allowed (647), 9th in Starters ERA (4.33), and 5th in Bullpen ERA (4.73). SP Nuke Laloosh (15-9, 3.33) did his thing, and SP Oliver Oil (8-12, 3.41) pitched well despite the poor record. SP Urm Rehfeldt (15-9, 4.51) benefited from high-scoring games. In the bullpen, rookie CL Professor Harriel (41 SV, 1.72) was the most-dominant pitcher, including tying the CBO record for saves. RP John Irwin (4-2, 3.55) was the only other pitcher with a sub-4.00 ERA. Prediction In most years, we would take Roxbury as our pick we would ride until they're done. However, that is most years, not this year. Oberland has the playoff experience, has gotten further than the Sox, dominated the Sox in the regular season, and just seems to be the team that performed better overall despite the statistical anomaly we mentioned that allowed Roxbury to finish as the SCA's third seed. We're going to instead go with the SCA's defending champions. Oberland 2, Roxbury 0 #5 FHE Yao Guai (73-57) vs #4 Vault 81 Dwellers (75-55) Season Series FHE 6, Vault 81 4 April 17-19 @FHE: FHE 9-8, FHE 9-3, V81 7-4 May 27-28 @V81: V81 4-3, FHE 9-3 June 24-26 @V81: FHE 16-0, V81 7-6, FHE 6-5 August 7-8 @FHE: FHE 4-1, V81 3-1 Analysis FHE will be making just its second playoff appearance in franchise history. Its only other appearance came in 2303 when the Yao Guai were the 5th seed of five team, losing to #4 Diamond City in three games in the Play-in Round. Vault 81 has been to the playoffs seven times now, though their appearances have been sporadic. This season marks the first time they have gone to the playoffs in back-to-back season since they went three-straight seasons from 2299-2301. Last season as the #3 seed, the Dwellers won the Wildcard Round series over Egret before falling to #2 Quincy in the Association Semifinals. During the regular season, the series was close, though the Yao Guai did take 6 of 10. One game that stood out came on June 24 when the visiting Yao Guai demolished Vault 81, 16-0. Otherwise, most games were decently close with 8 of 10 being a difference of three runs or fewer. FHE started out the season as one of the top teams, leading the Railroad League for a good portion of the season before fading to 4th place toward the end of the season, finishing the final two months of the season 28-28. On offense, the Yao Guai finished 6th in runs scored (688) with their best offensive stat being home runs (3rd with 177). Players throughout the lineup were able to hit the long ball with 7 of 9 hitting 11 or more. LF Makin Jobear (.320/34/98), last season's Red Rocket Rookie Award recipient, was the unquestioned leader in the lineup. Other contributors include SS Dathmorian Zabrak (.323/19/58), RF Sebastian Jort (.335/11/75), and 1B Syd Thriftstore (.295/16/51). On the mound, FHE allowed the 5th-fewest runs (587) to go along with finishing 6th in Starters ERA (4.13) and 2nd in Bullpen ERA (4.35). The pitching staff is young but talented; however, they may be rattled easily in high-pressure situations like the playoffs. Playoff starters are rookie SP Munyeb Funyun (14-7, 3.43), Agnet Skinner (13-8, 3.85), and rookie Astro Puptent (4-8, 5.59). SP Baker Dozen (11-7, 3.27) is out for the series. In the bullpen, Sluggo Pyne (8 SV, 3.29) has become the closer that was once inhabited by Puptent (23 SV) before Dozen's injury. RPs Astro Nomey (3-2, 3.63) and Jobie Toast (5-1, 3.45) were pretty good coming out of the pen. Vault 81 was surprising the SCA's top-scoring offense (767 runs), thanks in part to a great OBP (.371). All eight starters hit at least 13 home runs for the SCA's 5th-best home run team (174). At the same time, only four hit 20 or more home runs, all in the 20s: CF Stu Gains (.327/24/96), RF Joe Rathmann (.264/23/76), 1B Harry Byrd (.322/22/91), and 3B Knud Bather (.223/21/66). Rathmann also led the team with 30 stolen bases. The Dwellers were 7th in runs allowed (611), including 5th in Starters ERA (4.06) and 9th in Bullpen ERA (5.09). Acs SP Scruffy Taguchi (13-6, 4.01) and second-starter Exxie Summerset (10-10, 4.24) did not have great seasons. SP Ryan Goodpryce (13-8, 3.70) will be the third starter in the playoffs. SP Ryan Downing (13-7, 4.45) is expected to be the postseason closer, supplanting CL Closecall Jones (33 SV, 4.21) who may play a setup role instead after not being consistent in closing situations. Prediction The lack of experience in general, especially the playoffs will probably haunt FHE. Not to mention that they are one of the colder teams entering the 2311 playoffs. Vault 81 has a good group of veterans who know how to win. We'll take that experience as the favorites. Vault 81 2, FHE 1

Good mix of old and new in the playoffs again. I'm actually going to just see how it goes this season, but I think I'll be pretty happy regardless just because we've had teams like the Celtics get in, but we also got our classics.
Shame the Acadians are still one of the worst teams in Far Harbor, I guess I know how to pick 'em haha. My best friend is about a month away from her vacation there IRL and getting pretty excited. |

Two divisions decided by a single game? A few expansion teams not finishing dead last? A fair amount of new records set? This season had it all!
Now on to my favorite part, incorrectly predicting the playoffs. I'm going Celtics vs. Rad Sox. Celtics in 6. But I'm sure the 'Boys will find their way into the Sole Survivors Series somehow

For the Vim! League, I never do deep analyses of the teams there since most of the players would not ever come close to sniffing the CBO. Some of the better teams were attained when I allowed open trades between the leagues. However, once CBO teams started sending 80 potential players to the SPA teams for a few 35 potential players, I had to nix that agreement. I didn't want to spend my time reversing obviously terrible trades. Needless to say, Acadia never took advantage of a CBO team. The funny thing is that now I open the trade window for a week. When I try to make a trade for the SPA teams' best players for several serviceable players for their leagues, teams will not want to trade away those players. I force the trade, but their GMs never like it.

Now, for the playoffs. I was thinking how topsy-turvy things could turn out. But you're probably right. The smartest bet at Easy City Downs would be to pick Nordhagen Beach versus University Point in the Sole Survivor Series.

2311 CBO Playoffs
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, BCAC, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 7 September 2311 NCA Wildcard Round #6 Sunshine Tidings Chemists (68-62) vs #3 Nordhagen Beach Party Boys (76-54) Season Series Nordhagen Beach 4, Sunshine Tidings 0 April 29-30 @ST: NB 7-2, NB 8-4 July 5-6 @NB: NB 5-1, NB 5-3 Analysis This series will mark a tale of two teams always in the playoffs but how much of a difference in playoff success each team has had. This marks the third time the Sunshine Tidings Chemists and Nordhagen Beach Party Boys will meet in the playoffs. In the two previous matchups, both Association Semifinals matchups with the Chemists as the #2 seed and Party Boys as the #3 seed, the Boys swept each in three games. For Sunshine Tidings, this season marks their ninth-straight playoff trip. In each of the eight years prior, however, the Chemists have won only one playoff series: a 2306 Association Semifinal victory over Easy Town as the #2 seed. They went on to be swept by #1 County Crossing in the NCA Championship Series. Nordhagen Beach has now made the playoffs in all 14 seasons of the full CBO. The Party Boys are currently the two-time defending champions, have won four championships overall, and stand at 4-2 all-time in the Sole Survivor Series (actually 4-3, but the CBO has quit using the first two seasons in official statistics). During the regular season, the Boys treated Sunshine Tidings as they have in the playoffs, sweeping both of the home-away series to go 4-0 on the season. RF Jonathan Angelou particularly loved playing the Chemists, hitting 3 of his 25 on the season against them. The Chemists will have a hard time in the playoffs winning shootouts. They were 8th in the NCA in runs scored (665) with the help of the home run (201) where they were tops. However, the 11th-best OBP (.337) meant that too many of those homers were solo shots. LF Family Sam Partridge (.316/45/112), a candidate for the Nuka-Hitter Award, is the unquestioned leader on offense. He is supposed by two other sluggers in front of him: 1B Dusty Brownell (.235/22/47) and 3B Ross Merchantman (.233/31/86). RF B.J. Perez (.309/6/41) is out for the playoffs, meaning 34-year old Ricky Ticky Laughy (.156/3/12) will play in his stead. On the mound, Sunshine Tidings was much better, finishing 4th in runs allowed (605), 5th in Starters ERA (4.33), and 6th in Bullpen ERA (4.58). The playoff starters will be Doug Creep (14-8, 4.08) and veterans Sheng Kawolski (12-11, 4.95) and Eugene Gym (12-7, 3.41). In the bullpen, Cush Baker (31 SV, 3.45) had a decent season and will get some help from RP Loan Khong (6-2, 3.56) and acquired SP/RP Tiger Fanne (7-18, 4.19). Nordhagen Beach saw a season where they did not conquer the NCA statistically in any category. On offense, the Boys finished tied for 3rd in runs scored (696), thanks in part to being 3rd in OPS (.814) and home runs (191). Young 3B Jacob Tarberry (.340/35/105) has taken over the offensive reigns from a team with one of the oldest lineups in the CBO. The top seven hitters all hit at least 16 home runs with the next three behind Tarberry being CF Maxx Murtagh (.279/27/55), Angelou (.237/25/86), and 1B Mountainside Rockhand (.336/20/88). Pitching finished the season with a whimper in 2311, struggling to outmatch teams late in the season. That led to the Party Boys finishing 7th in runs allowed (628), Starters ERA (4.48), and Bullpen ERA (4.66). Ace SP Beachboy Nut (15-5, 2.76) was his usual dominant self, but the rest of the pitchers were not. The other two starters will be struggling Deedee Martinson (10-10, 4.72) and Ugio Church (12-10, 4.76). SP Hard John Horvath (8-5, 5.95) moves to the bullpen. Ted Iam (28 SV, 3.59) took over the closer role when David "AntAgonist" Kidd (6-6, 5.32) got off to a poor start. It was suggested by pitching coach Trevor Bayless that Kidd's filming schedule in the offseason kept him off the practice field. RP Jordan Sykes (2-3, 2.80) had the best season overall from the bullpen, pitching 61.0 innings. Prediction Despite some recent struggles by Nordhagen Beach, including going 13-17 in August/September, Sunshine Tidings appears to be their tonic. Everything points to the Party Boys having every advantage, so we expect this series to be short and sweet for the Boys. Nordhagen Beach 2, Sunshine Tidings 0 #5 Salem Witch Hats (71-59) vs #4 Fort Hagen Silver Shroud Season Series Fort Hagen 3, Salem 1 June 22-23 @FtH: FtH 6-5, FtH 8-2 August 14-15 @Sal: FtH 14-5, Sal 3-2 Analysis While both franchises have had much different success in their histories, both are tied in one key statistic: no Sole Survivor Series championships. Each team is locked and loaded this season, but they will have to fight out of a wildcard position to reach the coveted prize. This series marks the first time that the Salem Witch Hats and Fort Hagen Silver Shroud will meet in the playoffs. For Salem, this is just their second trip to the playoffs in franchise history. Their one other trip came in 2308 as the #1 overall seed. However, the Hats dropped the Association Semifinal Round series, 3-2, to #5 Starlight that season. Fort Hagen had been playoff regulars, but had to go through a rebuild. That means the Silver Shroud are making their first trip in seven years after having made it seven-straight seasons. In three of the seven years in the playoffs, the Shroud reached the Sole Survivor Series three times but lost all three series. The regular season matchup favored the Shroud, winning three of four. Salem's lone win was a one-run game, so overall Fort Hagen dominated. That one-run game came a day after the Silver Shroud blasted the Hats, 14-5, in Salem. SP Elastic Man Haley particularly liked pitching against the Witch Hats, going 2-0 with a 1.84 in 14.2 innings pitched. Salem was decent, not great, on offense. The Witch Hats finished 6th in runs scored (668) with their best categories being finishing 5th in OPS (.354) and home runs (176). RF Brian DeLong (.318/31/95) fell one percentage point shy of winning the team Triple Crown, being bested only by 2B Peter Pan Calvillo (.319/18/58). Two other players matched Calvillo's home run totals: 1B Dan Erb (.260/18/51) and LF Castor Puzzlemaker (.309/18/64). The Hats were much better at pitching, finishing 3rd in runs allowed (600) and Bullpen ERA (4.45) and 4th in Starters ERA (4.30). The three playoff starters are a pretty good rotation: Pokey Chatman (13-9, 3.70), Jaa Thirtysix (13-9, 3.77), and Bry McBourbon (14-9, 4.18). The bullpen is somewhat of a mixed bag with RP Ray Rowe-Varone (6-3, 3.54) having success. CL Four Davies (31 SV, 4.20) could struggle to get outs at times. Fort Hagen found most of its success on offense. The Silver Shroud were 2nd in runs scored (698) with the top of the NCA statistics in Average (.284), OPS (.819), and wOBA (.358). No single player stood out from the other on the team, but we would call C Sleve McDichael (.332/20/72) the best if we had to. SS Brennan Colt-45 (.311/19/70), RF Foo Fieterz (.290/26/75), and 2B Jeet November (.309/18/75) all had good seasons. The Shroud finished 5th in runs allowed (608) to go along with finishing 3rd in Starters ERA (4.14) and 8th in Bullpen ERA (4.82). While not as dominant as we thought they might be, rookie SPs Haley (16-7, 3.98) and La'Ray Kalel (12-12, 3.90) pitched pretty well. SP Nien Nunb (16-10, 4.37) is the third starter. Another rookie, CL Victor Numbclaw (26 SV, 4.59), struggled some in the bullpen, so the Silver Shroud will turn to Sarthis Idren (0 SV, 3.34) in the playoffs. Veteran 30-year-old RP Godot Beckett (2-1, 3.12) had a good year. Prediction We have gone back and forth on this prediction. We know PAM had Fort Hagen as the top team coming into the season, but they proved early on that they were not that team. Well, not in the regular season. Salem is a team that has never been able to put it all together, having some slumps during the regular season. However, they did pull it together in August/September, going 19-11 in that span. In the end, we are going to take the Hats to take this one. Salem 2, Fort Hagen 1
