May 15th-May 21st

May 15th, 2028: Another week, another top spot in the Power Rankings. At 27-11, we have a nice 4.5 game lead over the Nationals.

We welcome the 18-19 Diamondbacks to start a four game series. Devon Peterson (5-1, 2.24 ERA, 1.18 WHIP) looked to stay hot against Jeff Slezak (1-3, 3.79 ERA, 1.16 WHIP). It was a solid all around game, and we topped the D'Backs 5-3 to take the opener.

Peterson went 7 innings with 7 hits, a run, walk, and 6 strikeouts. Trevor Gott allowed a run and 2 hits in the 8th. Chad Scoles alloewd 2 hits, a run, and got a strikeout in 0.2 innings to get a hold. Luis Alcantra got the save, despite allowing 2 hits before getting a strikeout to end the game.

Juan Ramirez was 2-for-3 with a walk and a pair of two run homers. Mac Horvath was 2-for-4 with a steal and RBI. Daylen Lile was 1-for-3 with a walk, steal, and run scored. Chris Reid was 1-for-3 with a walk.

May 16th, 2028: Game two saw Steve Paustian (4-1, 2.68 ERA, 1.28 WHIP) take on Steven Gingery (1-4, 4.94 ERA, 1.39 WHIP). We couldn't get any offense going, and we were shut out 4-0.

Paustian went 7 innings with 5 hits, 2 runs, 3 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Sanshiro Onuma allowed 2 runs with a hit, 2 walks, and just a single out.

Jon Reid was 1-for-3 with a double. Jarred Kelenic was 1-for-4 with a steal. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-3 with a walk.

May 17th, 2028: We looked to re-take the series lead with Jake Florence (1-1, 3.33 ERA, 1.39 WHIP) taking on Jean-Christophe Hernandez (3-2, 7.53 ERA, 1.76 WHIP). We tried blwoing a 7-1 lead, but we eventually closed the game out 7-6.

Florence went 6.2 innings with 6 hits, 4 runs, 4 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Onuma and Alcantra got holds. Chad Scoles got the save, despite allowing 2 hits and 2 runs with a strikeout.

Daylen Lile was 2-for-4 with a homer, steal, 2 runs, and 2 RBI's. Noah Smith was 2-for-3 with a double, walk, steal, and run scored. Juan Ramirez was 2-for-4 with a double, run scored, and RBI. Isaac Nunez was 1-for-3 with a solo homer and 2 RBI's. Mac Horvath was 1-for-4 with a steal and 2 RBI's. Jackson Miller was 1-for-3 with a walk and run scored.

May 18th, 2028: Luis Ardon (2-0, 1.80 ERA, 1.08 WHIP) took on Tyler Glasnow (1-4, 6.46 ERA, 1.50 WHIP) in the series finale. Runs were definitely not at a premium today, and we toppled the Snakes 11-6.

Ardon tossed 6.2 innings with 9 hits, 2 runs, and 7 strikeout. Blayne Enlow went 2 innings with 3 hits, 4 runs, 2 walks, and 2 strikeouts. Jordam Montgomery got the last out of the game (after a grand slam) in a four pitch strikeout.

Noah Smith had himself a game, 2-for-5 with a grand slam and two run homer. Jarred Kelenic was 2-for-3 with 3 runs, a solo homer, and 2 walks. Grant Koch was 2-for-5 with a double and run scored. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-2 with 2 runs, 2 RBI's, 2 walks, hit by pitch, and a homer. Daylen Lile was 1-for-4 with a walk and RBI.

Mariners 2B Brice Turang was 5-for-6 in a 10-8 win over the Orioles.

Baltimore will come to town for three to round out the homestand. We'd see Sergio Garza (1-4, 5.77 ERA), Juan Medina (3-1, 5.61 ERA), and Michael Baumann (3-2, 3.55 ERA).

May 19th, 2026: I claimed LF Sergio Tello off waivers from the Braves. He's a 2/3.5* corner outfielder that I am gonig to teach how to play center. The 22-year-old lefty is a great hitter who can be an absolute steal claim. He'll be sent to AA Jacksonville.

We opened the series with Baltimore as Jorge Flores (3-5, 4.71 ERA, 1.29 WHIP) looked for a better start against Sergio Garza (1-4, 5.77 ERA, 1.46 WHIP). The Orioles have had a really rough start, and we made it worse with a Mac Horvath walk-off ground out off former Marlin Mason Barnett in a 3-1 win.

Wow that was a setence...

Flores went 5.2 innings with 6 hits, 2 runs, a walk, and 7 strikeouts. The pen was solid, 2.1 hitless innings with 4 strikeouts.

Daylen Lile was 2-for-4 with 2 doubles and 2 runs scored. Jarred Kelenic was 2-for-3 with a run scored, walk, steal, and 2 RBI's. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-3 with a hit by pitch.

Giants 1B Zhao-jun Ou-Yang was 5-for-6 in a 15-4 win over the Rockies.

Rays 3B Anderson Franco hit hits 300th career home run. The longtime National and now Ray has a career .242/.316/.481 slash line with 812 RBI's in 4,504 at bats.

May 20th, 2028: We looked to take the series a game early with Devon Peterson (6-1, 2.12 ERA, 1.18 WHIP) taking on Juan Medina (3-1, 5.61 ERA, 1.34 WHIP). Don't let the numbers fool you, Medina is a 23-year-old 3.5/5* who was taken 4th overall in 2023. There wasn't much offense, and we shut them out 1-0.

Peterson went 7 innings with 3 hits, a walk, and 5 strikeouts. Luis Alcantra got the hold, a hit and 2 strikeouts in the 8th. Chad Scoles got the save, a strikeout in a perfect 9th.

Juan Ramirez was 2-for-3 with a walk. Nesty Cirese was 1-for-3 with a run scored. Daylen Lile was 1-for-3 with a double, walk, and RBI.

May 21st, 2028: Danny Niewald will head to AAA on a rehab assignment.

Arizona will be without RHP Brock Helverson for the year with a damaged elbow ligament. The last game he pitched was against us, his 16th appearence of the year. He had a 2.78 ERA and struck out 29 in 22.2 innings.

We looked to finish the sweep with Steve Paustian (4-2, 2.66 ERA, 1.26 WHIP) taking on Michael Bauman (3-2, 3.55 ERA, 1.24 WHIP). Baltimore got 5 in the 9th, and took the finale 7-4...

Paustian was great, 7 innings with 7 hits, 2 runs, 2 walks, and 11 strikeouts. Sanshiro Onuma and Riley Ferrell split the 8th to get holds. Scholes faced one batter, who scored, on a hit. Luis Alcantra allowed 4 runs, 2 hits, and a walk in 0.2 innings.

Noah Smith was 2-for-4 with a steal and run scored. Jon Reid was 1-for-4 with a two run homer. Jarred Kelenic was 2-for-4. Mac Horvath was 1-for-4 with an RBI. Chris Reid was 1-for-4 with an RBI.

We're off to Pittsburgh for three with the Pirates. We'll see Ken Haugen (3-1, 4.24 ERA), Zach Peek (1-1, 6.05 ERA), and Brad Rauter (4-1, 1.22 ERA). All-Star voting also starts tomorrow!

May 22nd-May 28th

May 22nd, 2028: All-Star Voting starts today!

The White Sox will be without RHP Blake Bivens for the year with a torn flexor tendon. He was 2-5 with a 4.68 ERA.

At 32-13, we still remain 1st in the Power Rankings. I really love that feeling!

We faced the #2 team, Pittsburgh, at PNC Park. Jake Florence (2-1, 3.59 ERA, 1.41 WHIP) got the start against Ken Haugen (3-1, 4.24 ERA, 1.16 WHIP). Let's call this series, the battle for #1! The first game was everything baseball fans could hope for, a tight game that needed more then 9 innings to decide. In the 11th, Juan Ramirez hit an RBI single to give us a 4-3 lead we were able to keep.

Florence went 6 innings with 8 hits, 3 runs, a walk,a nd 4 strikeouts. Ignacio Hinojos got the win, striking out all 5 hitters he faced. Riley Ferrell got the save, 2 strikeouts in the 11th.

Juan Ramirez was 2-for-6 with a RBI and steal. Isaac Nunez was 2-for-5 with 2 runs, a steal, and solo homer. Noah Smith was 2-for-4 with a double and RBI. Ian Happ was 1-for-2 with a double off the bench. Daylen Lile was 2-for-6 with a run scored.

May 23rd, 2028: We looked to take the series a day early with the red-hot Luis Ardon (3-0, 1.99 ERA, 1.14 WHIP) taking on Brad Rauter (4-1, 1.22 ERA, 0.80 WHIP). It was another tight game, but a three run 5th was enough to give us a 4-2 win.

Ardon went 7 with 4 htis, a run, 2 walks, and 6 strikeouts. Just think this is a guy I've traded twice and claimed off waivers twice. And tired trading a ton. And he's just a 2.5* with nothing too exciting. Trevor Gott got a hold, anf for some reason, Mike Siani got a save. He went an inning with 2 hits, a run, walk, and strikeout. I get that he's a two-way player, but nowhere in his description is "closer" or late inning reliever...

Juan Ramirez was 3-for-4 with a double. Mac Horvath was 2-for-5 with a solo homer. Jarred Kelenic was 2-for-5 with an RBI. Jackson Miller was 2-for-4. Jon Reid was 1-for-3 with a walk and run scored. Noah Smith was 1-for-5 with a run scored, steal, and 2 RBI's.

Former Marlin and current Ranger Dinelson Lamet tossed a 4-hit shutout in an 8-0 win over the Indians. He walked 3 and struck out 4.

Rangers 3B Joey Gallo hit his 500th career homer. The Ranger slugger has a career .220/.336/.504 slash with 2,491 strikeouts and 1,180 RBI's. He ranks 5th All-Time in strikeouts, behind Jim Thomes, Reggie Jackson, Paul Goldshmidt, and All-Time leader Giancarlo Stanton.

May 24th, 2028: We looked to finish the sweep with Jorge Flores (3-5, 4.55 ERA, 1.28 WHIP) taking on Jonathan Kearns (3-0, 2.98 ERA, 1.30 WHIP). As a longtime Cub, Flores has a lot of experience with the Pirates. Tied at four in the 9th, Tim McHugh hit a walk-off grand slam off Chad Scoles...

Flores was rocky, 6.1 innings with 6 hits, 4 runs, 2 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Scoles didn't get an out, walking 2 and allowing 2 hits and all 4 runs...

Chris Reid was 3-for-4 with 2 RBI's. Jackson Miller was 2-for-3 with a run scored, walk, and 2 doubles. Daylen Lile was 2-for-4 with a steal. Jarred Kelenic was 2-for-4 with a run scored and walk. Mac Horvath was 1-for-4 with a double, run scored, RBI, and walk. Noah Smith was 1-for-4 with a walk and run scored. Flores was 1-for-2 with a sac-bunt and RBI.

We get tomorrow off, and will head to New York to face the Mets.

May 25th, 2028: Jorge Flores asked for an extension, but I don't have nerely enough money for him. As a Cuban, he really likes the closeness to his hometown of Placetas.

The Colorado Rockies signed slugger Giancarlo Stanton to a 1-year, $3.4 million contract as he chases Bonds' home run record. The 38-year-old has 709 as of today. The 19-28 last place Rockies have nothign to lose, so they are playing the slugger at first base to attract more fans to the stadium.

Looking ahead to the Mets series, we'll see Noah Syndergaard (2-3, 5.03 ERA), Livio Montella (3-4, 4.39 ERA), and Arturo Romo (3-1, 4.08 ERA).

May 26th, 2028: We opened the series in New York with Devon Peterson (7-1, 1.909E RA, 1.12 WHIP) taking on Noah Syndergaard (2-3, 5.03 ERA, 1.57 WHIP). Peterson's only loss of the year came against New York, where he allowed 5 in 5.2 innigns. The Mets had his number again, and they took the opener 8-3.

Peterson allowed 5 htis and 4 runs in 5 innings with 4 walks and 5 strikeouts. Ignacio Hinojos allowed 2 runs off 2 hits with a strikeout. Siani allowed a run and walk in 0.2 innings. Riley Ferrell allowed a homer to the only batter he faced.

Jarred Kelenic was 3-for-4 with a double, steal, and RBI. Noah Smith was 1-for-4 with a two run homer. Isaac Nunez was 1-for-3 with a walk and run scored. Daylen Lile was 1-for-4 with a steal, run scored, and walk.

Down in Jupiter, LF Jaheim Tyes was 5-for-6 in a 14-6 win over the Orlando Bulldogs. They are going to be one of the upcoming expansion teams A+ organization.

May 27th, 2028: We looked to even the series back up with two red-hot pitchers going at it: Steve Paustian (4-2, 2.65 ERA, 1.27 WHIP) and Livio Montella (3-4, 4.39 ERA, 1.26 WHIP). Neither has done too well against the opposition. The pitching today was brilliant, and we shut them out 1-0.

Paustian went 8 with 2 hits, 3 walks, and 7 strikeouts. Chad Scoles got the save despite allowing 2 hits in the 9th.

Jackson Miller was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Chris Reid was 1-for-2 with 2 walks, a double, and run scored. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-3 with a walk and double. Mac Horvath, Daylen Lile, and Jarred Kelenic were all 1-for-4.

Brewers starter Rawley Hector tossed a 5-hit shutout in a 3-0 win over the Diamodnbacsk.

May 28th, 2028: Fan vote update: Jackson Miller is 3rd for catcher (behind Thomas Dillard). Chris Reid is 2nd for third base. Juan Ramirez is 2nd for left field. Jarred Kelenic is 1st for right field. Devon Peterson is 1st and Steve Paustian is 4th for starters.

I was just glancing through my finances, and I saw Vladdy's retained contract. It's a good thing I traded him when I did, because the 29-year-old is just a 1.5* now. Getting value out of him (in a sense, LF Sergio Serrano and 2B Nesty Cirese) while eating only about 45% of his contract, is a lot better then what I'd be able to get now.

We looked to win the rubber match with Jake Florence (2-1, 3.68 ERA, 1.41 WHIP) taking on Arturo Romo (3-1, 4.08 ERA, 1.24 WHIP). Just to show how good my team is currently, all 9 of my starters are 3.5* or better (three 3.5, four 4, two 4.5). The Mets have just one four star, the rest are three or lower. We absolutely crushed the Mets today, and won the finale 11-2.

Florence tossed 8+ with 5 hits, 2 runs, 2 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Montgomery allowed 2 hits, but got the three outs in the 9th that Florece couldn't.

Mac Horvath was 3-for-5 with a run scored, 3 RBIs, 2 doubles, and a walk. Noah Smith was 3-for-5 with 2 doubles, 2 runs, a walk, steal, and RBI. Juan Ramirez was 2-for-3 with 2 walks, a solo homer, and two run homer. Daylen Lile was 1-for-5 with a run scored, steal, and RBI. Chris Reid was 1-for-4 with a walk and solo homer. Jarred Kelenic was 1-for-4 with a run scored, walk, and hit by pitch.

19-year-old Arizona CF Juan Simental was 5-for-5 in an 8-6 win over the Brewers. He may be a little overmatched in the majors, despite being a 2.5/5* as he hasn't had the most success (although he's started to heat up). He even played a little last year as an 18-year-old, and the Venezuelan youngster has been playing professionally since 2026.

We're headed back home to host the Cubs for three. We'll face Pablo Ochoa (2-2, 2.41 ERA), Ryan Dease (2-2, 3.74 ERA), and German Marquez (2-5, 4.01 ERA).

May 29th-June 4th

May 29th, 2028: You'll never guess who's number 1 in the Power Rankings? The Miami Marlins? Well, then yeah, you'd be right. at 36-15, we have a comftorable 7.5 game lead over the Nationals.

The Cubs are in town and they'll have to solve former Cub Luis Ardon (4-0, 1.86 ERA, 1.09 WHIP) taking on Pablo Ochoa (2-2, 2.41 ERA, 1.22 WHIP). Both pitchers are red-hot, and have had excellent seasons. Pitching isn't what controlled this game, but we were able to squeak out a 7-6 win in the opener.

Ardon went 5 with 5 hits, 3 runs, a walk, and 7 strikeouts. Ignacio Hinojos and Sanshiro Onuma tossed perfect frames and earned holds, striking out 2 and 1 respectively. "Beer Barrell" went 7.2 innings with 5 hits, 2 runs, and 10 strikeouts. Jordan Montgomery pitched the 9th, getting a strikeout in a perfect frame.

Daylen Lile was 3-for-5 with 2 runs, 2 RBI's, and a double. Isaac Nuenz was 3-for-4 with a steal, run scored, double, and RBI. Juan Ramirez was 2-for-4 with a double and two run homer. In the game, Cubs LF Kyle Tucker hit his 300th career homer. His first year in Chicago hasn't gone as planned, but he's a career .295/.355/.535 hitter with 909 RBI's in 5,069 at bats.

May 31st, 2028: We looked to finish the sweep with Devon Petreson (7-2, 2.27 ERA, 1.16 WHIP) taking on German Marquez (2-5, 4.01 ERA, 1.30 WHIP). Down 3-1 in the 9th, Daylen Lile got a 2-run single in to tie the game up at 3. Chris Reid then took Edwin Diaz deep for a two run homer, and we won the finale 5-3 to finish the sweep.

Peterson went 6.2 innings with 7 hits, 3 runs, 2 walks, and 11 strikeouts. Trevor Gott got the win, 1.2 innings with a hit and 2 strikeouts.

Jackson Miller was 2-for-4 with a double and run scored. Juan Ramirez was 2-for-3 with a walk. Chris Reid was 1-for-5 with the game winning two run shot. Daylen Lile was 1-for-4 with a run scored and 2 RBI's. Noah Smith was 1-for-3 with a walk and run scored. Isaa cNunez was 1-for-4 with an RBI.

Mariners RF Janisel Rivera went 5-for-5 in a 11-10 loss to the Yankees. Nationals CF Trejyn Fletcher hit for the cycle in a 12-3 win over the Blue Jays. Dodgers 2B Reizo Honda extended his hit streak to 20.

We got tomorrow off, but would head to Colorado for a three game series with the Rockies.

June 1st, 2028: Red Sox LF Andrew Benintendi was 5-for-5 in a 7-2 win over the Twins. Rangers 3B Hueston Morrill hit three homers in a 5-2 win over the White Sox. Dodgers 2B Reizo Honda's hit streak was ended at 20.

Looking ahead, the Rockeis will feature Franklin Perez (2-2, 4.43 ERA), Eric Dawson (4-4, 5.14 ERA), and A.J. Puk (1-2, 5.44 ERA).

June 2nd, 2028: Steve Paustian (5-2, 2.33 ERA, 1.19 WHIP) took on Franklin Perez (2-2, 4.43 ERA, 1.21 WHIP) as we started a three game set in Coors Field. It truly was a hitter's paradise today, and we won 17-4 to improve to 40-15 on the season.

Nesty Cirese left with an injury...

Paustian tossed 6.2 innings with 8 hits, 2 runs, and 3 strikeouts. Blayne Enlow allowed 2 runs and 3 hits in 1.1 innings with a walk and strikeout.

Jarred Kelenic was 4-for-6 with 4 runs, 3 RBI's, a double, and a walk. Noah Smith was 4-for-5 with 2 steals, a run scored, a walk, a double, and 3 RBI's. Juan Ramirez was 3-for-5 with 3 runs, 2 RBI's, a walk, and double. Daylen Lile was 2-for-5 with a run scored and steal. Jackson Miller was 2-for-5 with 2 runs, 4 RBI's, a triple, and walk. Mac Horvath was 2-for-5 with 2 runs, 3 RBI's, a double, and walk. Chris Reid was 1-for-3 with 3 runs and 3 walks.

June 3rd, 2028: We looked to keep rolling with Jake Florence (3-1, 3.51 ERA, 1.35 WHIP) taking on Eric Dawson (4-4, 5.14 ERA, 1.52 WHIP). We improved our win streak to seven with an 8-4 win to take the series a day early.

Phillies 2B Masyn Winn went 5-for-6 in an 11-4 win over the Giants.

June 4th, 2028: Nesty Cirese is headed to the DL for about 2 weeks with chronic back soreness. I recalled both Sam Minniefield and Roberto Pena from New Orleans.

Fan vote update: Miller 3rd for catcher. Reid 2nd for third. Ramirez 1st for left. Kelenic 1st for right. Peterson 1st for starter. Paustian 4th for starter.

We looked to finish the sweep with the red-hot Luis Ardon (4-0, 2.27 ERA, 1.10 WHIP) taking on A.J. Puk (1-2, 5.44 ERA, 1.23 WHIP). We were up 6-0, but we decided it would be fun to lose for once, and we let them walk off 7-6 winners...

To add insult to literal injury, Juan Ramirez left with an injury after being hit by a pitch. His diagnosis is pending...

Ardon was great, 6.1 innings with 7 hits, a run, 2 walks, and 7 strikeouts. Mike Siani, who is now not a two way player, allowed 3 runs and 2 hits with a walk in 0.1 innings. Luis Alcantra allowed 4 htis and 2 runs while getting just 1 out. Chad Scoles got the loss, allowing a hit and unearned run.

Mac Horvath was 3-for-5 with a run scored. Isaac Nunez was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Noah Smith was 2-for-5 with a run scored and three steals. Ian Happ came off the bench for Ramirez, and went 2-for-3 with 2 solo homers. Jarred Kelenic was 1-for-5 with a two run homer. Daylen Lile was 1-for-4 with a solo homer.

We're headed north of the border to face the Blue Jays for three. We'll see Jose Quintana (3-5, 3.73 ERA), Max Alba (3-3, 4.62 ERA), and Jack Flaherty (3-5, 6.14 ERA).

But, first, the 2028 Amateur Draft! Does a 41-16 team really need any more talent? The answer, of course, is yes!

Amateur Draft

Happy Amateur Draft! With the first pick, the Cleveland Indians took the best player in the draft and the one that I wanted, SP Jonathan Kingsbury.

1st Round, 24th Overall: SP Amari Ankum (3.5): Honestly, I could've been worse off with the 24th Overall Pick, and there were a few other options. Ankum is a solid middle-of-the-rotation arm with insane stuff. He has five plus or better pitches, including a 94 rated curveball. He has plus control, but below average movement. He's got solid stamina, a durable left arm, and averages 91-93 with his fastball. Just 18, the Dalls, Texas native has a bright career ahead of him.

1st Round, 30th Overall: SP Mitch Castro (3.5): "Jumbo" Castro is a 6'4'' 17-year-old from Boston. He's got elite stamina, plus-plus stuff, and he keeps the ball on the ground. He's got a plus-plus sinker, and plus slider and changeup and he does a great job getting swings on low piches. He throws 90-92 from a 3/4 arm slot. He's got plus movement, but needs to work on his control. Just like Ankum, he's got a lot of talent, but a lot of polishing left to do.

1st Round, 34th Overall: RF Josh Vest (3.5): Despite being listed as a right fielder, he could play center with plus range and an elite arm. He's not the best base runner and doesn't have the most contact, but he's got great pop from both sides of the plate. He'll get a lot of extra base hits and won't strike out too much. He's another high upside, low ceiling pick that could develop into a big league regular.

1st Round, 37th Overall: SS Josh Norrod (3): Yes, I have a shockingly large amount of 1st round picks between compensation and rollover. He's an elite defensive shortstop with solid speed and a knack for bunting for a hit. He's a solid all-around hitter with plus contact and power. He doesn't have the best personality, but his raw talent is too much to pass up on.

2nd Round, 63rd Overall: SP Andy Stevenson (3): A college junior from Washington, Andy Stevenson has elite stamina and elite stuff. He can hit triple digits and has an elite fastball and slider. He just needs to work on his change-up to become a top starter, but his floor is a top notch reliever. He needs to work on his movement and control, but he's the opposite of my first four picks, a high floor prospect.

3rd Round, 98th Overall: SP Sergio Arena (3): The Puerto Rican teen won't sign, but it was worth taking a flyer on him. He's got elite stuff with two plus pitches and an elite curveball. His fastball averages 91-93, and he gets good movement and control. He needs to work on his stamina, but heading to the states for college should help him fine tune his game.

4th Round, 128th Overall: 2B Pat Rice (2.5): He's a bat first player with a little versatility. He can play all around the outfield and infield, but he's one of those utility players that will never be good at one position. He doesn't have much speed, but his bat is really good. He's got plus-plus power, plus contact, and will hit a ton of extra base hits. He lacks hustle, but unlike most players left, he's got talent.

5th Round, 158th Overall: SP Steve Sergent (2): He's a lefty with elite stamina and an elite changeup. He's got plus stuff, but needs to work on his movement and control. He doesn't throw too hard either, but that changeup is so deadly he doesn't need to. He's tall, 6'4'', and could develop his velocity as he ages.

6th Round, 188th Overall: RP Steve Ford (2.5): A junior from Kansas State, he's got elite stamina and a durable left arm. He's got a plus slider, decent fastball, and a poor changeup that, with work, could help him turn into a starter. He's a sidearmer with plus movement and control as well.

7th Round, 218th Overall: SS Jorge Rojas (2): Likely a future third basemen, he's got a cannon at the hot corner, and has plus range. He can play all three infield spots, and has the arm for right. The Puerto Rican youngster has a plus eye and plus contact, and can develop into a solid off the bench player.

8th Round, 248th Overall: CF Sean Moody (2): A switch hitting 18-year-old, he won't sign, but was worth taking a filer on. He's not the best fielder or runner, but he's an amazing hitter. He's got plus power and plus contact with a plus eye. He's got a great personality, and his personality could help him develop well.

9th Round, 278th Overall: C Jonathan Dwoark (2): He's got a great armer as a catcher, but not the best hitter. He's got a plus eye with decent contact and power. He's young, has a good character, and can develop into a solid backup at the big league level.

10th Round, 308th Overall: CF Alfredo Perales (2): A former Reds pick in the 24th Round in 2025, he moved from Puerto Rico to the states for college at Coastal Carolina. He's got a ton of range, good speed, and plus contact. The switch hitter isn't the best hitter, but he's a leadoff type hitter who will spray the ball around the field.

11th Round, 338th Overall: CF Chad Powell (2): He's a speedy righty with a ton of range that strikes out a lot. He's got plus contact, power, and eye, and smacks line drives. He needs to trust himself more before he can become a big leaguer.

12th Round, 368th Overall: CF Sean Bond (2): A speedy lefty who can play all three outfield spots as well as the corner infield spots. He's got elite speed, but isn't really the best base runner. He's got the range for center and arm for right, but will likely end up in left. He's got plus eye and will hit his share of extra base hits.

13th Round, 398th Overall: CF Jake Maxey (1.5): Won't sign. A speedy centerfielder with elite range and he's a huge threat on the basepaths. He's got a solid eye and will stretch singles to doubles. He won't hit any homers, but he's an intriguing youngster.

14th Round, 428th Overall: C Pat Gross (1.5): A 37th Rounder from the Dodgers back in 2024, the Senior from Long Beach State has backup catcher written all over him. He's got a decent eye, but will strikeout a lot. He's not the best framer, but has a decent arm.

15th Round, 458th Overall: SP Mike Palmer (1.5): He's got an elite curveball and elite stamina. He's got plus stuff, below average movement, and poor control. He isn't too exciting, but is a starter with decent tools in the later rounds.

16th Round, 488th Overall: SP Chris Mills (1.5): Another starter with elite stamina, Mills boasts an elite change as well. Like Sergent, he doesn't throw too fast, but has plus stuff. He needs to work on his movement and control, but he could be a decent multi inning guy.

17th Round, 518th Overall: CF Mike Klein (1.5): Won't sign. A speedy switch hitter with the range for center. He's not much of a hitter, but could be a productive 4th outfielder.

18th Round, 548th Overall: 1B C.J. Exley (1.5): A lefty first basemen with plus-plus power, but he doesn't have much more then that. He's not a great contact hitter and he'll strike out a lot, but his power is enough to keep him in a big leauge organization.

19th Round, 578th Overall: CF Dusty Sides (2): He's got the range for center and great speed, but isn't the best base runner. He's got plus power, but that's about all for his hitting. He screams average outfielder bench player.

20th Round, 608th Overall: CF Brad Littlehale (2): He's got a cannon and can play all three outfield spots. He can play a little first and short as well, and is clutch under pressure. He's not too fast, will hit a lot of extra base hits, and he has solid power.

21st Round, 638th Overall: CF Eric Watts (1.5): Won't sign. He's got an elite eye and the range for center with a solid arm as well. He's not a special hitter, but heading to college should help him.

22nd Round, 668th Overall: SS Luis Crespo (1.5): He's a decent defensive infielder who can stick at short or shift to third with his solid arm. He's got nice pop and a good eye, but he may strike out a lot.

23rd Round, 698th Overall: CF MIke Allen (1.5): I took him a round later in 2025, and I like him for his defense and speed. He'll be a top base runner and fielder, but will never hit for much. He's an average contact hitter from the left side.

24th Round, 728th Overall: C Ezra Morris (1): Won't sign. He's a decent catcher with a little power, but is nothing special. College could help himi grow.

25th Round, 758th Overall: 3B/RP Juan Ramirez (0.5): He's a two-way player who can play third as well. As a fielder, he's got a cannon and great range, but isn't much of a double play turner. He's got a great eye, but isn't the best hitter. As a pitcher, he's got plus stuff and control.

26th Round, 788th Overall: RF/P Damani Clea (0.5): Another two way guy, he's a great defensive player in the infield and outfield. He doesn't have much speed, but he's got a ton of range. He's not the best hitter, but passable. He's got plus-plus stuff and can hit triple digits out of the pen.

27th Round, 818th Overall: SS Sean Wray (1.5): He's a slick middle infielder who turns double plays with ease, but is likely suited for second. He's got plus speed, a plus eye, and won't strike out too much.

28th Round, 848th Overall: CF Chris Papke (1.5): A versatile speedster, he's got a cannon in the outfield, great range in the infield and outfield, and he's got plus-plus contact. He's got a good eye and won't strike out much.

29th Round, 878th Overall: CF Dylan Kaplan (1.5): He's got good speed, but isn't much of a base stealer. He's actually a good hitter, with plus contact and power. He's a decent defender, but could be better.

30th Round, 908th Overall: 3B Bobby Gollihue (0.5): Won't sign. Waste pick here. He's a poor defender, but a good base runner. He probably can hit a litte.

31st Round, 938th Overall: SP Dave Tower (0.5): He was a 31st Round Pick all the way back in 2023. He's got a ton of stamina and could start games. He needs to work on a little bit of everything, but he's an arm that won't get hurt.

32nd Round, 968th Overall: CF Andy Wirkus (1.5): Extremely fast, great range, and an elite arm. He's not the best hitter out there, but his raw athletic abillity is insane. He can play all three spots as well.

33rd Round, 998th Overall: SP Ismael Carias (0.5): Arizona took him in the 36th Round in 2026. He's got four pitches, and while none of them are great, they aren't terrible. He's got great stamina, a durable left arm, and average enough stuff.

34th Round, 1,028th Overall: 3B Murdock Laviolette (0.5): Won't sign. The Canadian has absolutely no power, but with a decent eye. He's got a good arm as well.

35th Round, 1,058th Overall: SP Redmond Norling (0.5): He can toss 5 pitches, but none too well. He's headed to colelge, which should help him.

36th Round, 1,088th Overall: SP Chad Monk (0.5): Won't sign. Decent stamina and a durable left arm. He's got three decent pitchers. Nothing special, but isn't terrible.

37th Round, 1,118th Overall: C Josh Camarillo (1.5): He's a decent defensive catcher with plus pop. He's got a good eye as well, and could eventually turn into a backup.

38th Round, 1,148th Overall: SP Mike Cockcroft (0.5): He throws a screwball, so that's interesting. He's not really great, but hey, most guys in the late rounds aren't.

39th Round, 1,178th Overall: CF Josh Lawrence (0.5): Taken in the 25th Round by the Twins in 2025, his stock took a hit after going to Oklahoma State. He's a really good base runner and outfielder, but doesn't have the best arm.

40th Round, 1,208th Overall: SP Jeremy Lapes (0.5): Won't sign. I needed to take one more guy, and I was tired...

This is the amazing Class of 2028! Here's where my undrafted 2025 guys went:

June 5th-June 11th

June 5th, 2028: Juan Ramirez was diagnosed with a concussion, he'll be out for 3 weeks. I recalled RF Palban Gamboa from AAA to replace him on the active roster.

And of course, we rank #1 in the Power Rankings. We're 41-16 and have a nice 6 game lead.

We find ourselves North of the Border in beautiful Toronto as Jorge Flores (4-5, 4.41 ERA, 1.21 WHIP) will take on Jose Quintana (3-5, 3.73 ERA, 1.27 WHIP) in the opener. It was a pitcher's duel, and after 9 full, neitehr team managed to score. In the top of the 10th, Mac Horvath hit an RBI sinlge to give us a 1-0 lead. Jays 1B Greyson Jenista tied it with a solo shot in the 10th to force more baseball. Jon Reid wanted to go home, and he hit a three run shot in the top of the 11th, and we ended up 4-1 winners.

Flores tossed 7 elite innings with just 1 hit, 2 walks, and 8 strikeouts. Ignacio Hinojos tossed 1.1 innings with 2 hits. Chad Scoles blew the save, but got the win, pitching the 10th with a hit, run, and stirkeout. Luis Alcantra got the save, 2 hits and a striekout in the 11th.

Horvath was 2-for-4 with a hit by pitch and the 10th inning RBI. Reid was just 1-for-5, but scored on the Horvath single and hit the big three run homer. Roberto Pena was 1-for-3 with a double. Daylen Lile was 1-for-5 with a steal. Noah Smith was 1-for-5 with a steal and hit by pitch.

June 6th, 2028: We looked to use yesterday's momentum to our favor as Devon Peterson (7-2, 2.42 ERA, 1.18 WHIP) took on Max Alba (3-3, 4.62 ERA, 1.49 WHIP). Toronto managed to tie the series off with a 4-3 walk-off win.

Peterson went 6 innings with 11 hits, 3 runs, and 5 strikeouts. Riley Ferrell got the loss, walking 2, allowing a hit, and a run.

Mike Siani was 2-for-3 with a double, run scored, walk, and RBI. Mac Horvath was 2-for-3 with a run scored and walk. Jackson Miller was 1-for-4 with a run scored. Noah Smith was 1-for-3 with a steal and RBI. Isaac Nunez was 1-for-3 with a walk.

Yankees RF Raimfer Salinas launched three longballs in a 9-5 loss to the Nationals.

Giants RF Nomar Mazara got his 2,000th career hit. The 33-year-old lefty has a .292/.370/.508 triple slash with 322 hoemrs and 1,072 RBI's with the Rangers and Giants.

June 7th, 2028: 5th Rounder Steve Sergent agreed to a $210,000 signing bonus.

We looked to win the rubber match between Steve Paustian (6-2, 2.36 ERA, 1.19 WHIP) and Jack Flaherty (3-5, 6.14 ERA, 1.62 WHIP) to take the road series. A lot of runs were scored, and after 9, the game was tied at 8. In the 10th, we piled on three more to win the finale 11-8.

Paustian had a rough outing, 4.1 innings with 6 hits, 5 runs, 4 walks, and 3 strikeouts. Blayne Enlow tossed 2 innings with 3 hits, a run, and a walk. Roberto Pena blew the save, 0.2 innings with 2 hits, 2 runs, and a strikeout. Sam Minniefield got the win, 1.1 perfect innings before Chad Scoles pitched the 10th to record his 12th save.

Jarred Kelenic had a great game, 4-for-6 with a double, run scored, and 2 RBI's. Mac Horvath was 3-for-5 with a steal and run scored. Daylen Lile was 2-for-6 with 2 runs and an RBI. Chris Reid was 2-for-4 with 2 runs, 2 RBI's, 2 steals, and a homer. Noah Smith was 2-for-4 with 3 runs scored, a walk, and steal. Jackson Miller was 2-for-5 with a steal, run scored, and 3 RBI's. Mike Siani was 1-for-5 with a double and RBI. Jon Reid was 1-for-3 with a double and RBI.

We're headed home for four with the Rockies. We'll face Eric Dawson (4-5, 5.51 ERA), A.J. Puk (1-2, 5.44 ERA), Juan Coira (3-4, 7.57 ERA), and Eric Warren (5-5, 5.20 ERA).

June 8th, 2028: The Dodgers will be without SP Walker Buehler for the year with a torn meniscus. He was 1-1 with a 2.70 ERA in 10 starts, but has always struggled with injuries.

We hosted the Rockies in the first of four with Jake Florence (3-1, 3.79 ERA, 1.42 WHIP) taking on Eric Dawson (4-5, 5.51 ERA, 1.60 WHIP). Florence was brilliant, and we shut them out 4-0.

Florence almost went the distance, 8.2 innings with 3 hits, a walk, and 9 strikeouts. Chad Scoles got the save, striking out the final batter of the game to finish the shutout.

We only had 2 hits, but we made them count. Palban Gamboa was 1-for-1 with a run scored, RBI, and 2 walks. Noah Smith was 1-for-4 with a run scored, RBI, and double. Mike Siani had a pinch-hit sac-fly in the 8th.

June 9th, 2028: Trevor Gott suffered an injury setback, and will take about a week to recover.

2nd Round Pick Andy Stephenson signed a $280,000 signing bonus.

The Nationals will be without RF Victor Robles for the rest of the season after undergoing knee surgery. He was hitting just .233 with a homer and 10 RBI's.

We looked to win our third straight with Luis Ardon (4-0, 2.16 ERA, 1.14 WHIP) looking to stay hot against A.J. Puk (1-2, 5.44 ERA, 1.25 WHIP). It was a tight one, but the Rox edged us 2-1 to even the series at one a piece.

Ardon tossed 6 innings with 5 hits, a run, a walk, and 4 strikeouts. Luis Alcantra allowed a hit, run, walk, and struck out 3 in 1.2 innings.

Isaac Nunez was 1-for-4 with a solo homer in the 9th. Jackson Miller was 1-for-4 with a double. Jarred Kelenic was 1-for-3 with a walk. Noah Smith and Ian Happ were both 1-for-4.

Blue Jays LF Zion Aldaba was 5-for-5 in a 12-8 win over the Red Sox.

June 10th, 2028: Baltimore will be without RHP Josh DeSario fro the eyar with a torn flexor tendon in his elbow. He was 0-2 with a 7.31 ERA in 16 innings where he struck out 12 and walked 5.

We looked to get back on top with Jorge Flores (4-5, 4.01 ERA, 1.14 WHIP) taking on Juan Coira (3-4, 7.57 ERA, 1.62 WHIP). In Flores' last start against the Rockies, he got the win and didn't allow a run. He wasn't as lucky today, and we got shutout 4-0...

Flores went 6.1 innings with 8 hits, 4 runs, 2 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Riley Ferrell tossed 1.2 innings with 2 hits and 2 strikeotus. Roberto Pena struck out the side in the 9th despite allowing 2 hits.

The offense really wasn't there today, but we did have our share of hits. 7 Marlins tallied a single a piece, but we couldn't do anything with them.

Coira went the distance, tossing a 7-hit shutout with 7 strikeouts and a walk.

June 11th, 2028: 1st Rounder Amari Ankum signed a $900,000 signing bonus.

Fan vote update: Miller is 3rd for Catcher. Reid is 2nd for third. Ramirez is 1st for left. Kelenic is first for right. Peterson is first and Paustian is fifth in the starting pitcher race.

We needed to salvage the split with Devon Peterson (7-2, 2.57 ERA, 1.23 WHIP) taking on Eric Warren (5-5, 5.20 ERA, 1.43 WHIP) who's been ice cold recently. It was a close one all game, but we edged the Rockeis 3-2 to escape the finale with a victory.

Peterson tossed 7 innings with 8 hits, 2 runs, and 6 strikeouts. Jordan Montgomery and Ignacio Hinojos got holds before Chad Scoles got the save. Scoles struck out 2 in the 9th.

Daylen Lie was 2-for-3 with a run scored and walk. Peterson was 2-for-3 with a run scored. Ian Happ and Mac Horvath were both 2-for-4 with an RBI. Jarred Kelenic was 1-for-3 with a run scored, RBI, walk, and steal.

Our long stretch of games continues with a home and away with the Yankees. In the next two games we'll be at home, and we'll see Juan Jacobo (4-4, 3.94 ERA) and Juan Figeueroa (2-2, 5.68 ERA) before continuing to New York.

June 12th-June 18th

June 12th, 2028: I made an excellent waiver claim, claiming 19-year-old CF Juan Simental off waivers from the Diamondbacks. He's rated a 2.5/5 with batting potentials of 78/95//100/80/61. He's got plus ranged and elite speed. He's out of options, so I have to keep him on the big league roster, but he's actually hit well this year, .254/.270/.469 with 7 homers, 26 RBI's, and 3 steals in 130 at bats.

I optioned RF Palban Gamboa to AAA and DFA'd LF Matt Hogan.

1st Rounder's Mitch Castro ($850,000) and Josh Vest ($750,000) agreed to their signing bonuses. Vest's ratings fell off a cliff, and now looks like a bad pick. 3rd Rounder Sergio Arenas will head to college officially.

Down in AAA, 1B Sean Taylor was named Player of the Week. He hit .500 with 3 homers and 9 RBI's.

And just like every other week this year, we rank 1st in the Power Rankings. At 45-19, we have a nice 4.5 game lead over the Nationals who rank #2.

We started the home and away series at Marlins Park as Steve Paustian (6-2, 2.82 ERA, 1.25 WHIP) took on Juan Jacobo (4-4, 3.94 ERA, 1.14 WHIP) and the Yankees. Simental will hit 7th and play CF in his Marlins debut. The pitching on both sides was solid, and we topped them 4-2 in the opener.

Paustian went 7 innings with 7 hits, 2 runs, 3 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Jordan Montgomery and Luis Alcantra got holds before Chad Scoles struck out the final two batters to earn his 15th save.

Mac Horvath was 2-for-3 with 2 runs, an RBI, 2 doubles, and a walk. Jackson Miller was 1-for-4 with a steal. Noah Smith was 2-for-4 with a run scored and RBI. Simental was 1-for-4 with a double, run scored, and RBI in his first game with us. Jarred Kelenic was 1-for-4 with a double.

Former Astro prospect Franklin Perez tossed a no-hitter against his former team as the Rockies topped Houston 7-0. He struck out 9 and walked 2.

June 13th, 2028: 4th Rounder Pat Rice agreed to a $260,000 signing bonus.

We finish the home portion of the home and away with the red-hot Jake Florence (4-1, 3.38 ERA, 1.31 WHIP) taking on Juan Figeruoa (2-2, 5.68 ERA, 1.52 WHIP). We got four in the second, and cruised to a 8-1 victory.

Florence went 5 innings with 4 hits, a run, 4 walks, and 3 strikeouts. Sam Minniefield got a 3 inning save, striking out 6 and allowing 2 hits.

Roberto Pena was a perfect 4-for-4 with 2 doubles, a run scored, and 2 RBI's. Jackson Miller was perfect 3-for-3 (although 1-for-2 on steal attempts) with 3 runs, a RBI, and walk. Jarred Kelenic was 2-for-4 with a double and run scored. Noah Smith was 2-for-5 with 2 RBI's. Mac Horvath was 2-for-4 with a run scored and RBI. Daylen Lile was 1-for-4 with a run scored, steal, and RBI.

We're off to New York for the 2nd two, and we'll see former Marlin Slade Cecconi (3-2, 4.25 ERA) and Nick Pivetta (2-3, 10.31 ERA).

Down in Greensboro, LF J.J. McCowan was 5-for-5 in a 8-4 win over the Hickory Crawdads.

June 14th, 2028: The Angels will be without RHP Anderson Espinoza for the year with a torn labrum. He tossed 12 innings with 12 strikeouts and a 4.50 ERA.

The first in New York saw Luis Ardon (4-1, 2.09 ERA, 1.13 WHIP) take on Slade Cecconi (3-2, 4.25 ERA, 1.09 WHIP). We got 4 in the 9th, but it wasn't enough, and the Yanks defended homefield with a 10-7 win.

Ardon had a rare rough start, 4.1 innings with 7 hits, 5 runs, and 3 strikeouts. Blayne Enlow tossed 2 innings with 3 hits, 3 runs, a walk, and a strikeout. Minniefield tossed an inning with 2 hits and a run. Roberto Pena allowed 2 hits and a run in 0.2 innigns.

Chris Reid was 4-for-4 with 3 runs scored and a hit by pitch. Mike Siani was 2-for-4 with a walk and grand slam in the 9th. Isaac Nunez was 2-for-4 with a sac-fly and 2 RBi's. Jon Reid was 2-for-4 with a hit by pitch and RBI. Ian Happ was 2-for-5 with 2 runs scored. Mac Horvath was 1-for-3 with a run scored and 2 walks.

June 15th, 2028: I outrighted Matt Hogan to AAA.

We looked to take the finale with Jorge Flores (4-6, 4.14 ERA, 1.17 WHIP) taking on the struggling Nick Pivetta (2-3, 10.31 ERA, 2.39 WHIP). Both teams have their DH's hitting 9th (Jon Reid and Tyler Malone). Not exactly sure how we lost, but the Yankees evened the finale with a 7-2 win.

Flores tossed 6 innings with 10 hits, 5 runs, a walk, and 8 strikeouts. Riley Ferrell tossed 1.2 innings with 2 hits, 2 runs, a walk, and 3 strikeouts.

Jarred Kelenic was 1-for-4 with a double. Isaac Nunez was 1-for-4 with a double and RBI. Noah Smith was 1-for-3 with a walk and RBI. Ian Happ was 1-for-4 with a double and run scored. Daylen Lile was 1-for-3 with a walk and steal.

Former Marlin and current Dodger RF Austin Hendrick hit three homers in a 14-3 win over the Rangers.

We're off to Cincinatti to face the Reds for three. We'll face Mike Kuhns (2-2, 3.03 ERA), Dallas Wollfolk (4-4, 3.20 ERA), and Esteban Aguirre (3-3, 3.61 ERA).

June 16th, 2028: Trevor Gott is headed to A+ Jupiter to begin a rehab assignment.

We opened the series against the Reds as Devon Peterson (8-2, 2.57 ERA, 1.22 WHIP) looked to stay hot against Mike Kuhns (2-2, 3.03 ERA, 1.04 WHIP). We couldn't score, and they edged us 2-1 in the opener.

I don't think we're going to be #1 next week...

Peterson went 5 innings with 5 hits, 2 runs, 2 walks, and 3 strikeotus. The pen tossed 3 innings with a hit, walk, and 5 strikeouts.

Chris Reid was 2-for-4 with a solo homer. Peterson was 1-for-2, and Happ, who replace him, was 1-for-1. Mike Siani was 1-for-3.

June 17th, 2028: Nationals RHP Thomas Hackimer will miss the rest of the year with a torn flexor tendon in his elbow. He had a 6.16 ERA in 27 relief appearences.

We really need to get back in the groove, as Steve Paustian (7-2, 2.80 ERA, 1.27 WHIP) looked to beat Dallas Woolfolk (4-4, 3.20 ERA, 1.25 WHIP). We gave up 3 in the 8th, and lost 5-4 for our 4th straight loss. Wow...

Paustian went 6 innings with 4 hits, 2 runs, 2 walks, and 3 strikeouts. Luis Alcantra allowed 2 htis, a walk, and 3 runs in 0.2 innings with a strikeout.

Daylen Lile was 2-for-5 with a solo homer. Noah Smith was 2-for-3 with a run scored and RBI. Mike Siani was 2-for-4. Ian Happ was 1-for-3 with a solo homer, 2 runs, and a walk. Chris Reid was 1-for-3 with a walk and double.

June 18th, 2028: I optioned Sam Minniefield to AAA and recalled Danny Niewald from his rehab assignment.

1st Rounder Josh Norrod agreed to a $600,000 signing bonus.

Fan vote update: Jackson Miller is 3rd for catcher. Mac Horvath is 3rd for first. Chris Reid is 2nd for third. Juan Ramirez is first for left. Jarred Kelenic is 1st for right. Devon Peterson is 1st and Steve Paustian 4th for starters.

I'm guessing the team is tired, and luckily we have tomorrow off. But first, Jake Florence (5-1, 3.28 ERA, 1.33 WHIP) looks to end the losing streak against Esteban Aguirre (3-3, 3.61 ERA, 1.23 WHIP). We got 5 in the 4th, and won the finale 6-1 to avoid the sweep. I think this 3-4 week is our first losing week of the year.

Florence went 6.1 innings with 2 hits, 3 walks, and 5 stirkeouts. Riley Ferrell tossed an inning and allowed a hit, 2 walks, and the only run.

Jarred Kelenic was 2-for-4 with a double and run scored. Isaac Nunez was 2-for-5 with a run scored and RBI. Roberto Pena was 1-for-4 with a three run homer. Mac HOrvath was 1-for-4 with a hit by pitch, RBI, and a pair of steals. Daylen Lile and Grant Koch were 1-for-4 with a run scored.

We really need to take an off day, our first since May 25th, and we'll head home to prep for a home series with St. Louis. We finished that stretch 14-9, although we lost four of the last five.

June 19th-June 25th

Accidentally posted the wrong recap, here is the correct one:

June 19th, 2028: An off day, somethign I haven't experienced in a while. The biggest news was Nomar Mazara signed a 5-year, $23.2 million per year extension, with the final season a 135 game vesting option. It's likely to vest, as he's tallied at least 145 games each season and is on pace for 146 this season.

Shockingly, we're still 1st in the Power Rankings. At 48-23, we have a 3.5 game lead over the Nationals.

I did have work for today, and I had to cut my GCL roster from 74 players down to the 40 player maximum. I traded 5 prospects to the Twins for C Juan Cerritos. I then sent 5 prospects to the West Palm Beach Expos for SP Stiven Gutierrez. I sent 5 more prospects to the Orlando Bulldogs for CF Luis Ramirez. I then sent 5 more prospects to the Peninsula Pilots for 2B Yerdel Vargas. I finished things off with 5 more prospects to the Wilson Tobs for SP Beau Haskins.

We arrived back in Miami where we'll face the Cardinals for three. A fully rested Marlins squad will face Micah Miniard (0-1, 3.18 ERA), Luis Monzano (7-4, 3.30 ERA), and Juan Sevilla (4-6, 5.83 ERA).

June 20th, 2028: We opened the series with Luis Ardon (4-2, 2.69 ERA, 1.16 WHIP) taking on Micah Miniard (0-1, 3.18 ERA, 1.24 WHIP) who's making just his 2nd start of the season. The bats needed an extra day off, and St. Louis shut us out 6-0.

Ardon went just 3 innings with 7 hits, 4 runs, a walk, and 2 strikeouts. Blayne Enlow tossed 3 perfect innings with a strikeout. Riley Ferrell, however, couldn't get an out, and allowed 2 hits and 2 runs.

Chris Reid was 3-for-4. Mac Horvath was 2-for-4. Daylen Lile was 1-for-3 with a walk and double.

June 21st, 2028: We looked to even the series back up with Jorge Flores (4-7, 4.36 ERA, 1.22 WHIP) taking on Luis Monzano (7-4, 3.30 ERA, 1.15 WHIP). Flores hasn't pitched well against the Cardinals this year, 0-2 with a 7.20 ERA. We're in a real rut now, and they topped us 4-1. I think we've lossed 7 of 8 now...

Or maybe 6 of 7...

Flores went 6.2 innings with 7 hits, 2 runs, a walk, and 5 strikeouts. Jordan Montgomery allowed a hit that later scored to the only batter he faced. Luis Alcantra allowed 2 hits and a run with a walk and strikeout.

Daylen Lile was 2-for-5 with a steal. Ian Happ was 2-for-4. Jarred Kelenic was 2-for-3 with a walk. Flores was 1-for-2 with an RBI. Noah Smith was 1-for-3 with a hit by pitch.

June 22nd, 2028: Nesty Cirese is off to AAA for a rehab assignment.

Are we really going to get swept at home? Devon Peterson (8-3, 2.63 ERA, 1.23 WHIP) looked to prevent that as he took on Juan Sevilla (4-6, 5.83 ERA, 1.64 WHIP), a young righty with a ton of potential. We got a little redemption, and took the finale 9-6.

Ian Happ left with back stifness, but he will not need to head to the DL. He doubled in his only at bat.

Peterson went 6 inning with 5 hits, 3 runs, a walk, and 6 strikeouts. Blayne Enlow allowed a hit, run, and struck out 2 in the 7th. Danny Niewald got a strikeout, but allowed 2 hits and 2 runs.

Jarred Kelenic was 2-for-3 with 3 runs and 2 walks. Chris Reid was 2-for-4 with a sac bunt, homer, and 3 RBI's. Daylen Lile was 2-for-4 with 2 doubles, a walk, and 3 runs. Juan Simental came off the bench and went 2-for-3 with a run scored and walk. Isaac Nunez was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Jackson Miller was 1-for-4 with a sac-fly, double, and 3 RBI's.

The Dodgers will come to town for three, and we'll see Joe Holden (5-0, 2.79 ERA), Amari Queen (0-4, 4.95 ERA), and Kevin Jalbert (3-4, 3.94 ERA). This series will be important to get back on track.

June 23rd, 2028: We opened the Dodger series with Steve Paustian (7-2, 2.81 ERA, 1.25 WHIP) hosting Joe Holden (5-0, 2.79 ERA, 1.22 WHIP). W got four in the 5th, and finished on top 7-4.

Paustian went 5 innings with 5 hits, 3 runs, 2 walks, and 8 strikeouts. Danny Niewald allowed a hit and run with a strikeout in 0.2 innings. Chad Scoles allowed 2 hits, but struck out the last batter of the game to get the save.

Jackson Miller was 3-for-3 with a walk and solo homer. Chris Reid was 1-for-1 with 2 runs, 3 RBI's, a sac-fly, and 3 RBI's. Daylen Lile was 2-for-5 with a double and run scored. Mike Siani got a pinch hit double and later scored. Jarred Kelenic was 1-for-4 with a run scored and hit by pitch.

Cubs LF Kyle Tucker was 5-for-6 in a 12-7 win over the Cardinals. Padres C Will D. Smith was 5-for-5 in a 14-4 win over the Diamondbacks.

June 24th, 2028: We looked to win our first season in what feels like forever as Jake Florence (6-1, 3.05 ERA, 1.29 WHIP) took on Amari Queen (0-4, 4.95 ERA, 1.43 WHIP). We earned win #51 with a 6-3 victory.

Florence went 5.2 innings with 6 hits, 3 runs, and 7 strikeouts. Roberto Pena, Jordan Montgomery, and Luis Alcantra earned holds before Ignacio Hinojos struck out the side in the 9th to earn his first save of the year. The relievers combined for 3.1 perfect innings with 6 strikeouts.

Jarred Kelenic was 2-for-3 with a wlak and solo homer. Daylen Lile was 2-for-4 with a double and run scored. Noah Smith was 2-for-4. Juan Simental was 1-for-3 with a two run homer. Chris Reid was 1-for-4 with a three run homer. Florence was 1-for-2 with a run scored. Mac Horvath was 1-for-4 with a run scored.

June 25th, 2028: Fan vote update: Horvath 3rd for 1B. Reid 2nd for 3B. Ramirez 1st for LF. Kelenic 1st for RF. Peterson 1st for SP. Paustian 5th for SP.

They've been on stand-by for a while, but the brooms are ready as Luis Ardon (4-3, 3.13 ERA, 1.23 WHIP) looks to initiate the sweep against Kevin Jalbert (3-4, 3.94 ERA, 1.38 WHIP). They took a 2-0 lead, but we cut the deficit in half in the 4th, and then piled on 4 in the 5th to take the finale 5-2.

Man, it feels good to sweep again!

We only had 5 hits too...

Ardon tossed 6 innigns with 6 htis, 2 runs, 3 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Riley Ferrell got the hold, 2 innings with 2 hits. Luis Alcantra earned save 5, an inning with a hit, walk, and 2 strikeouts.

Daylen Lile was 2-for-4 with 2 doubles and a run scored. Chris Reid was 1-for-3 with a double, walk, and run scored. Jarred Kelenic was 1-for-2 with a triple, run scored, 2 RBI's, and 2 walks. Ian Happ was 1-for-3 with 2 runs, a RBI, and walk. Chris Reid was 1-for-3 with a run scored, walk, and double.

We have tomorrow off, and we'll stay home before the Giants come to town.

June 26th-July 2nd

June 26th, 2028: Another week, another #1 ranking. At 52-25, our lead is back up to 5.5 games.

Today we get off before the Giants come to town for three. We'll see Juan Tafoya (8-4, 3.21 ERA), Joe Brausen (4-4, 5.04 ERA), and Dan Poinsette (5-2, 2.43 ERA).

June 27th, 2028: The series opener in a battle of first place teams featured Jorge Flores (4-8, 4.25 ERA, 1.22 WHIP) and Juan Tafoya (3-4, 3.21 ERA, 1.29 WHIP). We have the position advantaged at every position, but that doesn't always translate to wins. Of course, they managed to top us 3-1.

Flores went 7 innings with 4 hits, 3 runs, and 6 strikeouts. The pen tossed 2 perfect frames with 3 strikeouts.

Jarred Kelenic was 3-for-4. Isaac Nunez and Noah Smith were both 1-for-3. Mac Horavth was 0-for-3, but he walked, got a steal, and scored the only run.

June 28th, 2028: We looked to even the series up with Devon Peterson (9-3, 2.74 ERA, 1.22 WHIP) taking on Joe Brausen (4-4, 5.04 ERA, 1.61 WHIP). We were even worse today, and they shut us out 2-0.

Peterson pitched 6 innings with 5 hits, 2 runs, 2 walks, and 6 strikeouts. The pen combined for 3 innings with a hit, 2 walks, and 5 strikeouts.

Kelenic was 3-for-4 with a double. Chris Reid was 1-for-2 with 2 walks. Mike Siani had a pinch hit triple. Devon Peterson was 1-for-1 with a sac-bunt.

June 29th, 2028: Twins RHP Brayan Mejia will miss the rest of the year with a torn rotator cuff. He had a 5.24 ERA, but struck out 53 batters in 34.1 innings.

Padres lefty Graeme Stinson will miss the rest of the season with a torn flexor tendon. He was 4-4 in 16 starts with a 3.71 ERA.

We needed to avoid the home sweep with Steve Paustian (8-2, 2.95 ERA, 1.26 WHIP) taking on Dan Poinsette (5-2, 3.43 ERA, 1.43 WHIP). They absolutely crushed us 9-3, and we were embarrased in front of our home crowd.

Paustian was hit hard, 5 innings with 8 hits, 6 runs, 2 walks, and 2 strikeouts. Roberto Pena tossed 2 innings with 3 hits, 3 runs, 2 walks, and a strikeout. Blayne Enlow got the final 2 innings, striking out 2 without allowing a base runner.

Mac Horvath was 3-for-4 with an RBI. Jarred Kelenic was 2-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base. Chris Reid was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Jackson Miller was 1-for-4 with an RBI.

We're off to Chicago for three with the Cubs. We'll see German Marquez (3-6, 3.70 ERA), Jared Taylor (2-2, 3.46 ERA), and Gabe Hines (5-6, 5.17 ERA).

June 30th, 2028: Atlanta reliever, and former Marlin, Luiz Gohara's career will end today after a torn labrum. The 33-year-old lefty has tossed 884 career innings with a 4.18 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, and 863 strikeouts in 358 games (126 starts).

We needed to stop doing this thing called losing. At Wrigley Field, Jake Florence (7-1), 3.15 ERA, 1.28 WHIP) took on former Marlin Jared Taylor (2-2, 3.46 ERA, 1.15 WHIP) who was shipped out in the Flores deal. They got 3 in the 8th, and took the opener 3-2.

Florence tossed 6 innings with a hit, 3 walks, and 6 strikeouts. Riley Ferrell allowed a run and hit with a strikeout in 0.2 innings. Luis Alcantra tossed 0.2 innings with 4 hits, 2 runs, and a strikeout.

Chris Reid was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Noah Smith was 2-for-4 and Daylen Lile 2-for-5. Isaac Nunez was 1-for-4 with a solo homer. Mac Horvath was 1-for-3 with a walk.

Rays 2B Andrew Vaughn was 5-for-5 in a 10-4 win over the Yankees. Angels RF Pete Crow-Armstrong was 5-for-6 in a 12-2 win over the Rangers.

July 1st, 2028: Jake Florence was named Pitcher of the Month for June. He was 4-0 with a 1.98 ERA in 6 starts. He struck out 35 in 36.1 innings, and has had a really good season. I'm hoping not good enough to opt-out, but he likely will.

Down in New Orleans, 1B Sean Taylor was named American Confrence Batter of the Month. He hit .385 with 8 homers and 25 RBI's.

We really needed to get back on track as former Cub Luis Ardon (5-3, 3.12 ERA, 1.25 WHIP) took on German Marquez (3-6, 3.70 ERA, 1.27 WHIP). I forgot what winning felt like, so the 10-4 victory felt like ecstasy.

Ardon tossed 7 innings with 6 hits, 3 runs, a walk, and 4 strikeouts. Danny Niewald tossed 2 innings with 2 hits, a run, a walk, and 5 strikeouts.

Daylen Lile was 4-for-6 with 3 runs, 2 RBI's, and a home run. Juan Simental was 2-for-4 with a run scored, 2 RBI's, a double, sac-bunt, and homer. Isaac Nunez was 1-for-5 with a run scored, RBI, and steal. Noah Smith was 1-for-4 with a run scored, walk, 2 RBI's, and steal. Jarred Kelenic was 1-for-4 with a RBI, walk, double, and 2 runs scored. Grant Koch was 1-for-4 with a sac-fly. Mac Horvath was 1-for-3 with a run scored and 2 walks.

July 2nd, 2028: The International Pool was published today. I offered all my money on one player, and I really hope I can sign him. If not, I'll bargain hunt for a bunch of filler players.

I also re-signed most of my coaches up for extensions.

All-Star update: Horvath 3rd for 1B. Reid 2nd for 3B. Ramirez 1st for LF (can't wait till he comes of the DL...), Kelenic 1st for RF. Peterson 1st for SP, Paustian 5th for SP.

The Blue Jays sent RHP's Logan Shore and Josh Ferland to the Padres for 3B Fernando Tatis Jr. I asbolutely love this deal for Toronto.

We looked to take the rubber match as Jorge Flores (4-9, 4.22 ERA, 1.17 WHIP) got to face his former team and Gabe Hines (5-6, 5.17 ERA, 1.49 WHIP). Tied at 1, the Cubs got 5 in the 6th to take a 6-1 lead. We didn't give up, scoring 2 in the 7th and 1 in the 8th to cut the deficit to 6-4. They got one more in the 8th to take a 7-4 lead. We wouldn't give up, and former Cubs Mac Horvath and Ian Happ drew bases loaded walks as we tied the game at 7 to force extras. More bases loaded walks were drawn (by Horvath) in a three run 10th as we came back to win the finale 10-7 in 10.

Mike Sinai and former Marlin Jorge Moya were ejected in the 7th for igniting a bench-clearing brawl. Moya was suspended 7 games, Siani 3. I think this is the first time a player of mine has gotten suspended.

Flores tossed 5.2 innings, allowing 5 hits and 6 runs (2 uneared...). He walked 2 and struck out 6. Sanshiro Onuma allowed a run with a walk and strike out in the 8th. Chad Scoles got the win and Luis Alcantra the save.

Jackson Miller was 2-for-4 with 2 runs, 2 RBI's, 2 walks, and a double. Noah Smith was 2-for-5 with 2 runs and a walk. Isaac Nunez was 1-for-5 with a two run homer. Jon Reid had a pinch hit double in the 9th and later scored. Mac Horvath was 1-for-3 with 2 RBI's and 3 walks. Chris Reid was 1-for-4 with a run scored, 2 walks, and 2 RBI's.

We get tomorrow off before we travel to Boston!

July 3rd-July 9th

July 3rd, 2028: Juan Ramirez is finally able to start rehab, and will head to AAA New Orleans. I'd recall him after the Boston series.

AA RF Clint Springer was named Southern League batter of the Week. He hit .522 with 3 homers and 13 RBI's.

We dropped to 2nd in the Power Rankings, behind the Seattle Mariners. I expected this, but it's sad to see our streak come to an end.

We had a day to mourn, as we flew to Boston to prep for an interleague series. We'll see just Brady Singer (2-8, 5.42 ERA) and Wesley Scott (2-6, 5.25 ERA).

July 4th, 2028: The IFA I want wants too much money, so I have to move on...

We opened up the two game series at Fenway Park with Devon Peterson (9-4, 2.75 ERA, 1.21 WHIP) taking on Brady Singer (2-8, 5.42 ERA, 1.43 WHIP). They opener was a close one, but they edged us 5-4.

Peterson went 5 innings with 4 hits, 4 runs, 4 walks, and 6 strikeouts. Ignacio Hinojos got the loss, 2 innings with a hit, run, and 3 strikeouts.

Jarred Kelenic was 2-for-4 with 2 RBI's. Isaac Nunez was 2-for-4 with a run scored and RBI. Jon Reid was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Daylen Lile was 1-for-4 with a walk and run scored.

Braves 2B Jeff Houghtby was 5-for-6 in a 13-9 win over the Brewers.

July 5th, 2028: Today is the draft pick signing deadline, so tomorrow I will adjust to draft class and the unsigned draftees will announce where they will continue their education.

Also, I re-scouted Josh Vest awhile abck, and his ratings went back up. Not sure what the change was all about...

We looked to split the short series with the reinging NL Pitcher of the Month Jake Florence (7-1, 2.97 ERA, 1.24 WHIP) taking on Wesley Scott (2-6, 5.25 ERA, 1.26 WHIP). We piled on 11 runs to take the finale 11-5.

Roberto Pena left with an injury, and he was likely to be demoted to AAA soon anyways...

Florence went 4.2 innings with 5 hits, 3 runs (1 earned), 3 walks, and 3 strikeouts. Blayne Enlow went 2.2 innings with 2 hits and 4 strikeouts. Danny Niewald allowed 3 hits and 2 runs with a strikeout. Luis Alcantra got the save, 1.1 innigns with a hit and strikeout.

Daylen Lile was 3-for-5 with a double, homer, walk, and 3 RBI's. Isaac Nunez was 3-for-5 with 3 runs and 3 RBI's. Juan Simental was 2-for-5 with a double, sac-fly, and 3 RBI's. Mac Horath was 2-for-5 with a run scored and double. Jarred Kelenic was 1-for-4 with a walk, run scored, and steal. Noah Smith was 1-for-4 with 2 runs and a walk. Jon Reid replaced Pena (who walked three times and scored) and was 1-for-2 with an RBI double.

Cubs lefty Pablo Ochoa tossed a 7-hit shutout in a 7-0 win over the rival Cardinals. He walked 2 and struck out 7.

We're headed home for four with the Reds before the All-Star Break. We'll see Cullen Dana (6-2, 2.49 ERA), Steve Hayes (7-3, 3.49 ERA), Mike Kuhns (5-2, 2.87 ERA), and Dallas Woolfolk (4-7, 3.97 ERA).

July 6th, 2028: Here's where my unsigned guys went:

3rd Rounder: RHP Sergio Arenas (Virginia 2031)
8th Rounder: CF Sean Moody (Pepperdine 2031)
13th Rounder: CF Jake Maxey (St. Johns 2031)
17th Rounder: CF Mike Klein (San Diego State 2031)
21st Rounder: CF Eric Watts (Houston 2031)
24th Rounder: C Ezra Morris (Virginia 2031)
30th Rounder: 3B Bobby Gollihue (NC-Charlotte 2031)
34th Rounder: 3B Murdock Laviolette (Notre Dame 2031)
35th Rounder: RHP Redmond Norling (Wisconsin-Milwaukee 2031)
36th Rounder: LHP Chad Monk (Long Island-Brooklyn 2031)
40th Rounder: LHP Jeremy Lapes (St. Mary's 2031)

We opened the four game set with the Reds as Steve Paustian (8-3, 3.34 ERA, 1.29 WHIP) took on Cullen Dana (6-2, 2.49 ERA, 1.00 WHIP). The Reds took a 5-0 lead after 3, but we managed to tie the game up by the 7th. In the 10th, Rafael Devers got a 2-run single off former Red Ignacio Hinojos, and they took the opener 7-5.

Paustian went 5 with 5 hits, 5 runs (4 earned), and 5 strikeouts. So yeah, we should've won in 9... Chad Scoles got the loss, 1.2 innings with a hit and 2 runs to go with 2 strikeouts.

Jarred Kelenic was 2-for-4 with a run scored, walk, 2 doubles, and 2 RBI's. Chris Ried was 2-for-5 with a two run homer. Jackson Miller was 2-for-5 with an RBI. Noah Smith was 1-for-4 with a run scored and walk.

July 7th, 2028: Totally forgot about Juan Ramirez, but I optioned Mike Siani to AAA to recall him.

I signed a pair of International Amateurs, C Juan Mendoza ($500,000) and RHP Sergio Doporto ($280,000). Mendoza is a catcher, and you can never have too many of those in the DSL, while Doporoto has a ton of stamina and a plus slider.

I also grabbed RHP Sergio Gallagos ($550,000), C Jorge Rivera ($500,000), and 3B/RF Ismael Zambrano ($470,000). Gallagos actually has starter potential with plus-plus stamina. He's got three average pitches and could become a spot starter. Rivera's, like Mendoza, real talent comes from being a catcher, but has slightly more upside. Zambrano might be a gem in the rough, a speedy leadoff type hitter that doesn't have much power, but will split the gaps for extra base hits. He's a switch hitter with a cannon for an arm.

Don't get too excited about these guys, however, as they are likely just career DSL players.

Roberto Pena was diagnosed with a sprained ankle, and with it being a day-to-day injury, I could option him to AAA and recall Nesty Cirese from his rehab assignment.

We looked to even the series back up with Luis Ardon (6-3, 3.18 ERA, 1.23 WHIP) facing Steve Hayes (7-3, 3.49 ERA, 1.14 WHIP). Ardon was great, and we beat the visitors 6-1.

Isaac Nunez left with a strained back, and I'd bench him for the rest of the series as a percautionary measure.

Ardon tossed 6 with 5 hits, a run, 2 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Ignacio Hinojos got the hold, an inning with a hit and strike out.

Noah Smith, who came off the bench for Nunez, was 3-for-3 with an RBI. Juan Simental was 3-for-4 with a homer and 3 RBI's. Mac Horvath was 1-for-3 with a run scored and walk. Jarred Kelenic had a pinch hit triple and scored in the 7th. Daylen Lie was 1-for-4 with a double, 2 runs, and a walk.

Cardinals 1B Triston Casas hit three homers in a 12-2 win over the Pirates.

July 8th, 2028: The Phillies sent 2B Tyler Callihan to the Reds for LHP Cullen Dana and CF Jorge Tamez. I actually like this deal for the Phillies, as Dana and Callihan both have the same star rating.

Callihan wasn't in the Reds lineup today as Mike Kuhns (5-2, 2.87 ERA, 1.02 WHIP) got the start against Jorge Flores (4-9, 4.17 ERA, 1.18 WHIP). Flores didn't pitch well again, and they topped us 5-4.

Flores went 5 with 8 hits, 5 runs, 2 walks, and 4 strikeouts. The pen went 4 innings with 2 hits, a walk, and 3 strikeouts.

Daylen Lile was 2-for-4 with a solo homer and steal. Juan Ramirez was 2-for-4 with a solo homer. Mac Horvath was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Jon Reid was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Noah Smith was 1-for-3 with a run scored and walk.

Reds RF Julio B. Rodriguez was the reson they won, and he hit three homers and drove in all 5 runs. Flores is now the only pitcher he's ever hit more then 1 home run against, and is a perfect 3-for-3.

July 9th, 2028: The All-Star teams were announced today. Representing the 2028 Marlins will be SP Jake Florence (2), SP Devon Peterson (1), RP Ignacio Hinojos (1), 3B Chris Reid (1), and RF Jarred Kelenic (1). Peterson and Kelenic will both be starting.

We looked to win the final game of the first half with Devon Peterson (9-4, 2.95 ERA, 1.23 WHIP) taking on Dallas Woolfolk (4-7, 3.97 ERA, 1.30 WHIP). With pitching today, Peterson will likely not pitch in the All-Star game, despite being named the starting pitcher. All-Star Chris Reid tied the game up in the 9th with a two run homer off Sergio Ortega, and Jon Reid walked it off with a sac-fly off Paul Blackburn as we finished the first half 57-32.

Peterson went 6 innings with 5 hits, 2 runs, 4 walks, and 5 strikeouts. The pen combined for 3 innings with a hti, 2 walks, and a strikeout.

Reid was 2-for-4 with the two run homer. Juan Simental was 1-for-4 with a double. Ian Happ had the last hit, a pinch hit single in the 8th. Mac Horvath and Juan Ramirez were both 0-for-3 with a walk in the 9th. Both scored, Ramirez the first run and Horvath the winning run.

We enter the All-Star break with a 4.5 game lead over the Nationals! Next will be a quick write up covering the break!

All-Star Break

July 10th, 2028: We're back up to 1st in the Power Rankings! With the All-Star game tomorrow, the MLB has no action for the first time since April 1st.

July 11th, 2028: The All-Star game took place between Atlanta's Ken Harty (6-3, 3.64 ERA, 1.09 WHIP), who filled in for Devon Peterson, and Yankee Ace Mitch Hart (8-2, 3.46 ERA, 1.23 WHIP). Jarred Kelenic hit leadoff and played right and former Marlin Thomas Dillar caught and hit 8th. Both teams are rlatively even, although the AL boasts four 5* hitters (Luke Leto, Lodovico Liatti, Janisel Rivera, and Hueston Morrill) compared to the NL's two (Treyjn Fletcher and Xavier Carter). It was a close one, but the AL managed to edged the NL 3-2.

Ignacio Hinojos pitched the third, allowing a hit and he struck out 2. Jake Florence got the loss, allowing 2 runs, a hit, and 2 walks, in 0.2 innings. Jarred Kelenic was 1-for-2 with an RBI double. Chris Reid came off the bench and played second. He was 0-for-2. Peterson, of course, didn't pitch.

A's LF Stephon Canada was named MVP, going 2-for-2 with a solo homer and 2 runs scored.

July 12th, 2028: With an off day, I decided to play around with some trades. I'd need to make room for Trevor Gott, who was out on rehab, so I went to shop relievers. Instead of clearing roster spots, I decided to make an upgrade, sending LHP Danny Niewald to the Indians for LHP Jamie Priest.

Priest, 28, is rated a 3.5* with excellent stuff, 100 stamina, and he hits 94-96 with his fastball. A two pitch reliever, he boasts an 84 rated fastball and 88 curve. A former 8th Rounder by the White Sox, Priest has a career 3.42 ERA and 1.28 WHIP in 202.2 innings with 219 strikeouts and 77 saves. He's 3-4 wiht 18 saves, a 4.20 ERA, and 1.67 WHIP this year, but it's much better then Niewald.

Gott has just 4 days left on rehab, so I'll eventually have to deal with that issue...

July 13th, 2028: I solved my roster crunch with a 5 player trade, sending LHP Sanshiro Onuma and 2B Kymani Webbs to the Tigers for RHP Ayden Hardemon, 2B Corrado Soto, and 2B Rodolfo Castro.

Hardemon, 23, is the prize, a 2.5/5* reliever, who although fragile, is extremely valuable. He's got options left and will head to AAA. He tossed just 0.2 big league innings with the Tigers, getting a strikeout and allowing 2 runs and a hit. The former 5th Round Pick has elite stuff, top stamina, and plus-plus mmovement with the ability to keep the ball on the ground. He hits 94-96 with a sinker, and throws a devestating slider.

Soto, 25, is a 1.5* potential switch hitter who can play second, short, left, center, and right. A speedy base stealer, Soto rareley strikes out and has a good eye. He also rarley hits the ball off the ground, but he can beat out most infield grounders. He'll head to AA Jacksonville.

Castro, 23, will head to Greensboro. Another 1.5*, he can play all three infield spots and has elite speed of his own. He strikes out even less then Soto and has a little pop. He has a plus contact tool and a plus eye, but isn't the best defender.

Gott will head back to the majors, and the roster is ready for the second half! We start that half in Philadelphia, where we'll play three with the third place Phillies. We'd see Dursan Erbakan (6-5, 4.01 ERA), the recently acquired Cullen Dana (6-2, 2.69 ERA), and Chad Afghani (7-6, 4.27 ERA), although these are subject to change.

July 14th-July 19th

July 14th, 2028: We started the second half of the season in Philadelphia, as Jorge Flores (4-10, 4.38 ERA, 1.21 WHIP) looked to turn his season around against Dursan Erbakan (6-5, 4.01 ERA, 1.23 WHIP). It was a close one, but solid pitching prevailed in a 3-1 win.

Flores went 6 innings with 4 hits, a run, 2 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Trevor Gott, Riley Ferrell, and Luis Alcantra earned holds beofre Chad Scoles recorded the save.

Chris Reid was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Jarred Kelenic came off the bench and was 1-for-2 with a pinch-hit two run homer. Isaac Nunez was 1-for-2. Juan Simental was 1-for-4 with a double and RBI. Mac Horvath was 1-for-4 with a run scored.

July 15th, 2028: The Cleveland Indians acquired SS Wencel Perez and 2B Jace Handley from the Tigers for RHP Ismael Gomez and LHP Kevin Addario. It's a nice deal for the Indians.

All-Star Devon Peterson (9-4, 2.95 ERA, 1.24 WHIP) took on Jim Gilbert (3-4, 3.54 ERA, 1.08 WHIP) in the middle game. We couldn't score, and they shut us out 6-0.

Peterson had a rough outing, 5 innings with 4 hits, 5 runs, 2 walks, and 2 strikeouts. Blayne Enlow tossed 2 innings with a hit, walk, and 3 strikeouts. Jaime Priest allowed a hit and run in an inning.

We only had two hits, a single a piece from Juan Simental and Juan Rmairez. Simental also got a steal.

After the game, I stole SP C.J. Jorgenson from the Blue Jays for RP Jeff Hawk, CF Luis Ramirez, and 3B Josh Moore.

Now, it's not really a steal, Jorgensen is an impending free agent (or heading to final year of arbitration) who's recovering from a torn rotator cuff, but he's a 3.5* that I acquired for change. He's got elite sutff, including a fastball that hits triple digits, with plus movement, and average control. He's a generally durable arm, and started 30 or more games the past four seasons.

July 16th, 2028: We looked to win the finale with Steve Paustian (8-3, 3.53 ERA, 1.28 WHIP) taking on Cullen Dana (6-2, 2.69 ERA, 1.03 WHIP). The offense was limited again, and they topped us 4-1.

Paustian went 5 innings with 4 hits, 4 runs, 5 walks, and 4 strikeotus. The pen combine for 3 innings with 3 hits and 2 strikeouts.

Noah Smith was 2-for-4. Paustian was 1-for-2 with an RBI. Chris Reid was 1-for-3 with a walk and run scored. Juan Simental was 1-for-3. Mac Horvath was 1-for-4.

We're off to Arizona for three with the Diamondbacks. We'll see Jean-Christophe Hernandez (6-5, 5.69 ERA), Davon Amoako (3-2, 3.31 ERA), and Zach Schmidt (2-2, 2.72 ERA).

July 17th, 2028: Down in Greensboro, RF Rodolfo Ramriez was named Player of the Week. He hit .440 with 3 homers and 6 RBI's.

We dropped all the way down to third in the Power Rankings. At 58-34, we've slowly fell back to the pack.

The Rckies acquired C Austin Bode from the Cubs for RHP Linse Carvajal and RHP Danny Dempsey. I like this deal for the Cubs.

We opened the Arizona sesries with Jake Florence (7-1, 2.93 ERA, 1.26 WHIP) taking on Jean-Christophe Hernandez (6-5, 5.69 ERA, 1.49 WHIP). We got back on track with a nice 5-3 win to take the opener.

Florence went just 4.1 innings with 9 hits, 3 runs, and a walk. Enlow got the win, 1.2 innings with a hit and strikeout. Trevor Gott and Ignacio Hinojos got holds before Chad Scoles got the save. Hinojos tossed 2 perfect innings with 2 strikeouts.

Chris Reid was 3-for-4 with a double and run scored. Jackson Miller was 1-for-3 with a double, 2 RBI's, and 2 walks. Mac Horvath was 2-for-3 with a walk, run scored, and RBI. Juan Ramirez was 2-for-4 with 2 runs and a hit by pitch. Juan Simental was 1-for-3 with a run scored.

Down in A- Batavia, LF Mike Griffing was 5-for-6 in a 10-4 win over the Williamsport Crosscutters.

July 18th, 2028: Atlanta RHP Mac Anglin's career will end today, the second Brave this season. In his career, he was 14-9 in 79 games (23 starts) with a 3.58 ERA and 1.28 WHIP. Another torn labrum, like Gohara, Anglin decided it wasn't worth the comeback.

We looked to take the middle game with Luis Ardon (7-3, 3.06 ERA, 1.23 WHIP) taking on Davon Amoako (3-2, 3.31 ERA, 1.10 WHIP). It took 10 innings, but Jarrett Ford hit a walk-off sac-fly and Arizona evened the series with a 6-5 win.

Ardon went 6 innings with 3 hits, 3 runs, and 2 strikeouts. Trevor Gott got a hold in the 7th, but Luis Alcantra blew the save. He allowed 2 hits and 2 runs in 0.1 innings as his rough season continues. Chad Scoles got the loss, 0.2 innnigs with 2 hits, a run, and a strikeout.

Daylen Lile was 3-for-5 with a double, run scored, RBI, and steal. Chris Reid was 1-for-3 with a sac-fly and two run homer. Jackson Miller was 2-for-5 with a double. Juan Ramirez was 2-for-5 with an RBI. Noah Smith was 1-for-4 with a run scored.

July 19th, 2028: Houston sent RF Jeff Aimone and RHP Chris McClendon to the Tigers for RHP Florencio Serrano. It's a fair enough trade.

Jorge Flroes (5-10, 4.24 ERA, 1.20 WHIP) took on Zach Schmidt (2-2, 2.72 ERA, 1.12 WHIP) as we looked to bounce back and take the finale. We weren't about to lose another series, and we crushed them 10-1.

Flores was solid, 5 innings with 5 hits, a run, and 3 strikeouts. Jamie Priest tossed 2 innings with 2 strikeouts. Blayne Enlow tossed 2 innings with a hit.

Mac Horvath was 3-for-4 with 2 doubles, a run scored, and 2 RBI's. Jarred Kelenic was 3-for-5 with 3 runs, an RBI, and triple. Juan Ramirez was 2-for-5 with 2 runs, a double, and solo homer. Isaac Nunez was 1-for-4 with a three run homer, walk,a nd he scored twice. Grant Koch was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Daylen Lile was 1-for-4 with a run scored and sac-fly.

Our road trip continues with four against the Padres before an off day. We'll see Josh Hearn (4-12, 5.17 ERA), Logan Shore (3-12, 8.73 ERA), Jim LaJoie (7-7, 3.76 ERA), and Jake Webb (3-5, 5.09 ERA).

July 20th-July 27th

July 20th, 2028: We opened the four game series in San Diego with Devon Peterson (9-5, 3.19 ERA, 1.24 WHIP) facing Josh Hearn (4-12, 5.17 ERA, 1.45 WHIP). The Friars got 4 in the 7th and took the opener 8-5.

Peterson went 6.2 innings with 8 hits, 7 runs, 6 walks, and 3 strikeouts. The last run was charged to Jordan Montgomery who allowed 2 hits before finishing the 7th with a strikeout.

Daylen Lile was 3-for-5 with a run scored, double, triple, and 2 RBI's. Isaac Nunez was 2-for-3 with a two run homer and walk. Jackson Miller was 2-for-4 with 2 runs scored. Jarred Kelenic was 1-for-2 with a double and 2 walks.

July 21st, 2028: We looked to even the series with Steve Paustian (8-4, 3.69 ERA, 1.30 WHIP) facing former Marlin minor leaguer Logan Shore (3-12, 8.73 ERA, 1.58 WHIP). He's had a terrible season, but didn't pitch too bad in the 7-1 Marlins win.

Paustian tossed a gem, 8 innings with 3 hits, a run, walk, and 5 strikeouts. Blayne Enlow pitched the 9th, walking 1 and striking out 2.

Juan Ramirez was 3-for-5 with a run scored, 2 RBI's, 2 doubles, and a triple. Jackson Miller was 2-for-4 with 2 runs, a double, and walk. Isaac Nunez was 1-for-4 with an RBI. Daylen Lile was 1-for-3 with a run scored, 2 walks, and a steal. Chris Reid was 1-for-4 with a run scored. Mac Horvath was 1-for-4 with a walk.

July 22nd, 2028: I extended SP C.J. Jorgensen to a 1-year, $2,580,000 contract, that should prove to be a bargain. "Kid" is a solid starter that should be able to return stronger from his injury.

The Padres acquired CF Jorge Lozano from teh White Sox for LHP Misael Garcia. It's a steal for the Padres, although Lozano isn't really that good, it's just he's much better then Garcia.

Lozano was not in the lineup today, as we looked to take the series lead with Jake Florence (7-1, 3.05 ERA, 1.30 WHIP) facing Jim LaJoie (7-7, 3.76 ERA, 1.15 WHIP). The pitching on our end was brilliant, and we shut them out 6-0.

Florence tossed 6 innings with just 1 hit, 2 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Jamie Priest tossed 2 innings with a hit, walk, and 3 strikeouts. Blayne Enlow tossed a perfect 9th to end the combined shutout.

Jarred Kelenic was 2-for-3 with 2 runs, a walk, and solo homer. Mac Horvath was 2-for-4. Juan Ramirez was 2-for-4 with a solo homer. Florence was 1-for-2 with a sac-bunt, double, and RBI. Isaac Nunez was 1-for-3 with a walk, steal, solo homer, and 2 runs scored. Daylen Lile was 1-for-5 with a solo homer.

Braves 1B Freddie Freeman hit his 500th career homer. A Brave since 2010, he has a career .283/.381/.515 triple slash with 1,563 RBI's in 2,587 games. The former 2nd Round Pick by Atlanta in 2007, the 38-year-old is an impending Free Agent, but I can't seem him leaving Atlanta if he doesn't retire.

July 23rd, 2028: The Braves sent RHP Michael Doolin to the Astros for 3B Josh Smith. I like this deal for the Astros.

We looked to take the finale with Luis Ardon (7-3, 3.16 ERA, 1.18 WHIP) taking on Jake Webb (3-5, 5.09 ERA, 1.49 WHIP) before we get our first off day since the break. The Padres got 5 in the 1st, but we tied it by the 4th. In the 7th we scored 2, and took a 7-5 lead into the 9th. They got 2 off Scoles on a Mike Holler pinch-hit double to force extras. In the 13th, Isaac Nunez hit a two run homer off Josh Ferland, who was in his 3rd inning, and we won the finale 9-7.

Ardon was hit hard, 2 innings with 7 hits, 5 runs, a walk, and a strikeout. Priest tsosed 2.1 innings with 2 hits and 2 strikeouts. Enlow tossed 1.1 innings with a hit, walk, and 3 strikeouts. Trevor Gott got a 2 inning hold, allowing 2 hits and striking out 2. Scoles allwoed 3 hits and the 2 runs in the 9th, but he struck out 2. Jordan Montgomery got the win, 2 innings with 3 hits, a walk, and 2 strikeouts. Riley Ferrell pitched a perfect 13th to get the save.

Padres LF Jeremy Green was 6-for-7 in the losing effort.

Tomorrow is an off day where we'll head home before hosting the second place Nationals for three.

July 24th, 2028: Down in the GCL, RF Curt Walsh won Player of the Week, hitting .467 with 7 RBI's. It's nice to see the 2026 1st Rounder hitting well, even if it is down in the GCL.

We moved up to 2nd in the Power Rankings. At 63-36, we have a nice 7 game lead over the Nationals, our next opponent.

A pair of trades were agreed upon today, first with the Indians acquiring C Tyler Solomon from the Brewers for LHP Pete Carreras. It looks like a steal for Milwaukee.

Oakland added RHP Tim Shaw from the Reds for RHP Patrick Raby and LF Danny Wade. I guess it's a minor salary dump, but it looks like a great deal for the Reds.

Looking ahead to our series with the Nationals, we'll host Gage Hinsz (8-2, 3.51 ERA), Sonny Warner (7-3, 3.23 ERA), and Steve Vincent (4-5, 3.23 ERA).

July 25th, 2028: Jorge Flores wants an extension, but I don't have the money to offer him. He wants almost $30 million a year and I have a little over $20 million to offer. Most of that money will likely go to Mac Horvath as well.

We opened the Nationals series with Flores (6-10, 4.14 ERA, 1.19 WHIP) taking on veteran Gage Hinsz (8-2, 3.51 ERA, 1.18 WHIP). The Nats jumped ahead with a 3 run 6th and took the opener 4-2.

Flores went 6 innings with 6 hits, 4 runs, a walk, and 7 strikeouts. Riley Ferrell pitched 1.2 innings with 2 hits and 2 strikeouts. Luis Alcantra went 1.1 innings with a walk and 2 strikeouts.

Noah Smith was 2-for-4 with a walk, run scored, and steal. Jarred Kelenic was 2-for-3 with a double, RBI, and walk. Jackson Miller was 1-for-2 with 2 walks.

July 26th, 2028: The Reds acquired LF Khalil Lee from the Athletics for RHP Luis Guerrero and LHP Nelmerson Angela. This is a trade of scrubs, but Guerrero is the least scrubiest (and youngest) so adantage Oakland.

We looked to even the series back up with Devon Peterson (9-6, 3.51 ERA, 1.29 WHIP) battling Sonny Wanrer (7-3, 3.23 ERA, 1.11 WHIP) in a likely pitcher's showcase. The home fans left dissapointed, as the Nats topped us 7-4...

Peterson went 4 innings with 9 hits, 6 runs, 2 walks, and 3 strikeouts as his slow second half continues. Jamie Priest tossed 3 innings with a hit and 2 strikeouts. Trevor Gott allowed a hit, walk, and run in an inning with a strikeout.

Jackson Miller was 2-for-4 with 2 RBI's. Chris Reid was 2-for-5 with 2 runs. Jarred Kelenic was 2-for-4 with a doubel and run scored. Noah Smith was 1-for-3 with a walk, double, and run scored. Mac Horvath was 1-for-3 with a walk. He continues to have his interesting season, with a .301/.438/.356 slash line where he has 79 walks and 17 extra base hits.

July 27th, 2028: We needed to avoid the sweep as Steve Paustian (9-4, 3.52 ERA, 1.25 WHIP) looked to beat Steve Vincent (4-5, 3.23 ERA, 1.17 WHIP). We looked like the 64 win team we are today, and we salvaged the finale with a 6-1 victory.

Paustian was fine, 6.1 innings with 4 hits, a run, 5 walks, and 3 strikeotus. Jordan Montgomery, Riley Ferrell, and Luis Alcantra earned holds, and Blayne Enlow struck out the side (with a walk) in the 9th.

Looking at Montgomery, he's done well out of the pen, working a 1.59 ERA and 1.32 WHIP in 22.2 innings with 17 strikeouts. While not rate stats (other then ERA), he's been able to work well enough with his diminsihing stuff by getting a lot of ground balls and limiting walks.

Noah Smith was 2-for-3 with a solo homer, walk, and 2 runs scored. Juan Ramirez was 2-for-4 with a two run homer. Ian Happ had a pinch-hit, 2 run double in the 8th. isaac Nunez was 2-for-4 with a steal, run scored, and RBI. Jarred Kelenic was 2-for-4 with a steal.

The Padres are next, as they'll come to town for three. We'll face Dominic Pipkin (1-3, 5.04 ERA), Jake Webb (3-5, 5.40 ERA), and Charles King (7-8, 4.62 ERA)

Before moving on, I wanted to take a look at Mac Horvath's seaosn so far:

Of 162 qualifying hitters, Horvath ranks #2 in OBP (.436) behind just likely MVP Xavier Carter, but 147th in slugging (.364). He's tied with Bryce Harper for most walks (80), and dead last in ISO (.065).

It's hard to measure a player like Horvath's value (he is 3.0 in WAR, 117 in OPS+), because he's not necisarilly a one dimensional player, although he plays like an old school player, walk/single and then steal second (14-for-14), with absolutley no power (14 doubles and 3 homers), but he's still driven in 45 runs while offering elite defense at the corners. His season has really been an interesting statistical anomoly, even off his standards.

July 28th-August 2nd

July 28th, 2028: The Houston Astros will acquire SS Gabriel Alejandro Arias and RHP Gilberto Mendoza from the Rays for RHP Mike Shawaryn. I really like this deal for the Astros.

We opened the Padres series with Jake Florence (8-1, 2.90 ERA, 1.26 WHIP) hosting Dominic Pipkin (1-3, 5.04 ERA, 1.52 WHIP) and the Padres. Pipkin is making just his 2nd start of the year. I don't know how, but the crappy Padres dominated us 7-1...

Florence allowed 6 runs off 8 hits in 2.1 innings with 4 strikeouts. Blayne Enlow tossed 2.2 innings with 6 hits, a run, and 4 strikeouts. Jamie Priest tossed 2.1 perfect innings with 2 strikeouts. He's tossed 13.1 innings and allowed just 1 run since coming over from Cleveland. Ignacio Hinojos got the final 1.2 innings, striking out 3.

Juan Ramirez was 2-for-3 with a double and hit by pitch. Jackson Miller was 1-for-4 with a double and RBI. Jarred Kelenic was 1-for-4 with a double and run scored. Chris Reid was 1-for-3 with a walk.

July 29th, 2028: The Nationals will be without RHP Kevin Steck for the year with a torn rotator cuff. He had a 6.14 ERA in 7.1 innings with 7 strikeouts and 4 walks.

The Reds sent 2B Orlando Arcia and RHP Phil Osbrone to the Yankees for RHP Slade Cecconi. It's an even deal.

The Blue Jays sent 3B Nolan Gorman and LHP R.J. Sedwick to the Dodgers for RHP Juan Rivera and 3B Tim Styer. It's another even swap.

We looked to even the series with Luis Ardon (7-3, 3.59 ERA, 1.24 WHIP) facing Jake Webb (3-5, 5.40 ERA, 1.49 WHIP). Today was a much better game, and we edged them out 4-2.

Ardon went 7 innings with 8 hits, 2 runs, 3 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Riley Ferrell and Trevor Gott got holds and Chad Scoles got the save.

Daylen Lile was 2-for-4 with a double, 2 runs, and an RBI. Noah Smith was 2-for-3 with a walk and RBI. Jon Reid was 2-for-4. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-3 with a sac-fly and 2 RBI's. Jarred Kelenic was 1-for-3 with a walk and run scored.

Arizona 3B Buddy Kennedy hit for the cycle in a 11-6 win over Houston.

July 30th, 2028: Angels righty Phil Maton is out for the year with a torn rotator cuff. In 32 relief appearences, he logged a 4.04 ERA and struck out 48 in 35.2 innings.

The Braves sent SS Rece Hinds to the Cardinals for RHP Juan Ochoa, RHP Tristan Thatcher, RHP Danny Futch, and 1B Steve Frimpong. This is a huge trade, considering the 27-year-old Hinds is basically if Isaac Nunez hit like Chris Reid. It's a steal for the Cardinals, but Hinds is an injured rental. The only good prospect headed back is Ochoa, and he's basically Ignacio Hinojos with less stamina.

The Pirates sent RHP Eric Horne to the White Sox for LHP Jackson Gillis and RHP Kieron Emberey. The Pirates got a steal, and have done really well with trades recently, and it shows in their quality record.

We looked to take the finale at home with Jorge Flores (6-11, 4.22 ERA, 1.19 WHIP) taking on Charles King (7-8, 4.62 ERA, 1.42 WHIP). Flores pitched the best game he has as a Marlin, maybe because he had a 5-0 lead after 1, and we shut them out 7-0.

Flores went the distance, tossing a 2-hit shutout, walking 1 and striking out 8.

Mac Horvath went 2-for-2 with 2 runs and 2 walks. Chris Reid was 2-for-4 with a double, run scored, and RBI. Isaac Nunez was 1-for-3 with a two run homer. Daylen Lile was 1-for-2 with 2 walks, 2 steals, a run scored, and RBI. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-3 with a two run homer and a walk. Noah Smith was 1-for-3 with a double, walk, and run scored.

We'll finish our homestand with three hosting the Mets. We'll see Livio Montella (7-7, 4.11 ERA), Bobby Stiles (5-5, 4.84 ERA), and Arturo Romo (6-5, 5.24 ERA).

July 31st, 2028: Happy Deadline Day!

A little news before the trades:

The Angels lost RHP Jose Soriano for the year with shoulder inflammation. He was 0-2 with a 10.80 ERA in 25 innings.

Giants righty Roberto Hernandez is out for the year with a ruptured ulnar collateral ligament. He'll be back around this time next year.

We remain 2nd in the Power Rankings, behind just the Cincinnati Reds.

The Nationals acquired CL Edwin Diaz, LF Branden Cook, and cash from the Cubs for RF Sammy Siani, the brother of Mike Siani. Absolute steal for the Nats, since they were willing to take the monster contract.

The Tigers added RHP Charles King from the Padres for SS C.J. Abrams. It's a decent deal for both teams.

I didn't make any deals, since I really don't need any upgrades.

We opened the series with the Mets as Devon Peterson (9-7, 3.81 ERA, 1.33 WHIP) looked to get back on track against Livio Montella (7-7, 4.11 ERA, 1.20 WHIP). It wasn't a perfect start, but we topped the Mets 8-3 in the opener.

Peterson went 6 innings with 4 hits, 3 runs, 3 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Jamie Preist allowed 2 runs in an inning with 3 hits and a strikeout. Riley Ferrell and Luis Alcantra got holds while Chad Scoles struck out 2 in the 9th for the save.

Chris Reid was 3-for-5 with a doubel and 2 RBI's. Juan Simental was 2-for-4 with 2 runs, a double, and solo homer. Isaac Nunez was 2-for-3 with 2 runs, 2 RBI's, a hit by pitch, and homer. Nesty Cirese was 2-for-5 with 2 runs, a double, and RBI. Jarred Kelenic was 1-for-3 with 2 walks and an RBI.

Sonny Warner struck out 15 hitters in a 5-4 win over the Diamondbacks, and allowed just 3 hits and a run in 7 innings.

August 1st, 2028: In AAA, SP Leonel Olvera was named Pitcher of the Month, going 4-0 with a 1.87 ERA in 5 starts. He struck out 31 hitters in 33.2 innings.

AA SP Dan Lesser was also named Pitcher of the Month. He was 4-1 with a 1.65 ERA in 6 starts, and he struck out 48 in 43.2 innings.

A Greensboro RF Rodlofo Ramirez was named Batter of the Month. He hit .288 with 9 homers and 23 RBI's.

The Twins extended Casey Mize 2 years for a total of $54,800,000. It's an interesting move, considering they've had the former 20th Overall Pick on the trade block for over a year.

We looked to keep rolling with Steve Paustian (10-4, 3.41 ERA, 1.26 WHIP) taking on Bobby Stiles (5-5, 4.84 ERA, 1.28 WHIP). Back-to-back shutouts, and we won 2-0.

Paustian went just 5 innings with 2 hits, 3 walks, and 6 strikeouts. Ignacio Hinjos, Trevor Gott, Riley Ferrell, and Jamie Priest got holds before Chad Scoles got the save. Those five combined for 4 innings, 2 hits, and 5 strikeouts.

Grant Koch was 1-for-2 with a solo homer and hit by pitch. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-3 with a walk and RBI. Daylen Lile was 1-for-4 with a double and run scored.

August 2nd, 2028: We looked to finish the sweep with Jake Florence (8-2, 3.29 ERA, 1.30 WHIP) taking on Arturo Romo (6-5, 5.24 ERA, 1.45 WHIP). Can we make it three shut outs? Florence has been our (arguably) best pitcher this season, but he decided to give up 3 in the 1st, and then we eventually were out-slugged 10-6.

Florence lasted just 3 innings, allowing 7 hits, 5 runs, a walk, and 3 strikeouts. Blayne Enlow got the loss, 2.2 innings with 1 hit, 2 runs, 3 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Jordan Montgomery allowed 3 hits and 3 runs with 2 stirkeouts in an inning.

Jackson Miller was 4-for-4 with a homer and 4 RBI's. Mac Horvath was 1-for-3 with a run scored, 2 walks, and a steal. Juan Simental was 1-for-5 with 2 runs, an RBI, and double. Isaac Nunez was 1-for-4 with a double and walk.

Brewers SP Alfredo Rivera tossed a 4-hit shutout in a 4-0 win over the Padres. He struck out 7.

Michael Conforto hit his 400th homer in a 10-7 Rangers loss to the Astros. With the Mets and Rangers, he's hit .262/.358/.511 with 1,109 RBI's in 1,738 games.

We're off to Atlanta for three where we'll see Juan Ochoa (0-1, 6.52 ERA), Konnor Pilkington (4-10, 6.42 ERA), and Ty Madden (8-6, 2.96 ERA).

August 3rd-August 9th

August 3rd, 2028: We opened the four game set in Atlanta with Luis Ardon (8-3, 3.51 ERA, 1.26 WHIP) taking on Juan Ochoa (0-1, 6.52 ERA, 1.55 WHIP). Aaron Boone is using an interesting lineup, 5 lefties then 4 righties. Makes it easy to get the platoon advantage...

Well, I guess in the long run, it didn't matter, and we took the opener 3-2.

Luis Alcantra left with a strained forearm, and will head to the DL for about 2 weeks. He allowed a run in 0.1 innings with a walk and 2 hits.

Ardon was great, 7 innings with 3 hits, 1 run, 2 walks, and 7 strikeouts. Jamie Priest got the win, getting a 1 pitch out to end the 9th. Chad Scoles got the save, striking out 2 in a perfect 9th.

Juan Ramirez was 2-for-2 with a run scored, double, and 2 walks. Daylen Lile was 1-for-5 with a solo homer. Jarred Kelenic was 2-for-5 with a double and 1 run scored. Jakcson Miller was 2-for-5 with a double and 2 RBI's. Noah Smith was 1-for-3 with a walk.

Royals' SS Francisco Lindor recorded his 2,500th (and 2,501st) career hit today. The 34-year-old has a career .306/.373/.512 triple slash with 348 homers and 1,251 RBI's in 8,163 at bats.

August 4th, 2028: I recalled Leonel Olvera from AAA to replace Alcantra on the active roster.

Game two saw Jorge Flores (7-11, 3.95 ERA, 1.14 WHIP) take on the struggling Konnor Pilkington (4-10, 6.42 ERA, 1.89 WHIP). We got 4 in the 6th, and backed up Flores stellar performance in a 5-1 win.

Flores went 5.1 innings with 2 hits, 3 walks, and 9 strikeouts. Blayne Enlwo finsihed the 6th, and got a strikeout, but allowed a solo homer. Jarred Kelenic tossed 1.1 innings with a hti and strikeout.

Juan Simental was 2-for-4 with 2 runs, 3 RBI's, a double, and homer. Nest Cirese was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Daylen Lile was 1-for-4 with a run scored. Chris Reid was 1-for-4 with an RBI. Noah Smith was 1-for-3 with 2 walks and a run scored.

August 5th, 2028: We looked to keep rolling with Devon Peterson (10-7, 3.84 ERA, 1.32 WHIP) taking on Ty Madden (8-6, 2.96 ERA, 1.06 WHIP) who's on a nice hot streak right now that is begging to be cooled off. It wasn't cooled, and both teams managed just 2 runs a piece trhough the first 9. Juan Simental hit a pinch-hit two-run single in the 10th, and we topped the Braves 4-2 in 10.

Peterson went 7 innings with 3 hits, 2 runs, 5 walks, and a strikeout. Trevor Gott got(t) the win, 2 innings with a hit, walk, and 2 strikeouts. Chad Scoles earned the save, allowing a hit and striking out 2 in the 10th.

Jackson Miller was 4-for-5 with a double and run scored. Noah Smith was 2-for-5 with a double and run scored. Jarred Kelenc was 2-for-5 with a run scored. Mac Horvath was 1-for-4 with a walk.

August 6th, 2028: We looked to complete the sweep with Steve Paustian (11-4, 3.28 ERA, 1.25 WHIP) taking on Jonathan Groff (3-2, 3.65 ERA, 1.27 WHIP). All the scoring was in the first 2 innings, and we got 4 in the 2nd to take the finaled 4-2.

Paustian went 6 innings with 4 hits, 2 runs, 3 walks, and 9 strikeouts. Jordan Montgomery, Ignacio Hinojos, Trevor Gott, and Jamie Priest earned holds and Chad Scoles recorded the save. The pen didn't allow a hit or walk, and struck out 3 in 3 innings.

Juan Simental was 2-for-5 with a double and a base clearing triple. Jackson Miller was 2-for-3 with a double and walk. Mac Horvath was 1-for-3 with a run scored, RBI, and 2 walks.

We get tomorrow off before heading back home to host the Red Sox.

August 7th, 2028: Jackson Miller was named National League Player of the Week. He hit .571 with a homer and 6 RBI's. The 2nd year catcheris hitting .281/.365/.413 with 6 homers, 64 RBI's, and 7 steals in place of Thomas Dillard, who is having a slightly less successful season (2.6 to 2 WAR) in St. Louis.

Down in New Orleans, Kyle Lewis (who returned on a minor league contract), was AC Player of the Week, hitting .500 with 3 homers and 12 RBI's.

We're back in first in the Power Rankings! At 72-40, we have a 7 games lead over the second place Nationals.

Nationals RF Kellen Martin was 5-for-5 in a 12-3 win over Los Angeles.

Back home, the Red Sox will be in town for two. We'll face Luis Escolastico (8-6, 5.50 ERA) and Keaton Carattini (2-0, 8.77 ERA) in the quick two game set.

August 8th, 2028: The struggling Jake Florence (8-2, 3.58 ERA, 1.34 WHIP) looked to heat up against Luis Escolastico (8-6, 5.50 ERA, 1.47 WHIP), who's been trending in the right direction. It was a slugfest, and we out slugged Boston 10-7.

Florence went 4.2 innings with 7 hits, 5 runs, and a strikeout. Jamie Priest got the win, 1.1 innings with a pair of strikeouts. Ignacio Hinojos and Riley Ferrell got holds before Chad Scoles got the save.

August 10th-August 16th

August 10th, 2028: Boston lefty Kevin Escorcia, a 33-year-old rookie, will miss the rest of the year with elbow ligament reconstruction surgery. He tossed 24.2 innings with a 3.28 ERA and 1.50 WHIP. He spent 2013-2027 in the minors before finally getting a shot at the big leagues.

We got today off before heading to St. Louis for three. We'll see Andy Frost (5-4, 3.39 ERA), Micah Miniard (3-3, 5.23 ERA), and Luis Manzano (9-6, 3.64 ERA).

August 11th, 2028: The Athletics will be without starter Nivaldo Pool for the rest of the season with shoulder inflammation. He was having a rough season, 6-11 with a 6.04 ERA and 1.69 WHIP. He struck out 71 batters and walked 52 in 113.1 innings.

We opened the series in St. Louis Jorge Flores (8-11, 3.80 ERA, 1.13 WHIP) taking on former Marlin farmhand Andy Frost (5-4, 3.39 ERA, 1.38 WHIP). The Cards got three late runs in the 8th to take the opener 7-5.

Mets righty Livio Montella will miss the rest of the year with a torn labrum of his own. He was 7-8 with a 4.42 ERA in 25 starts.

We looked to even the series back up with Devon Peterson (10-7, 3.78 ERA, 1.31 WHIP) taking on Micah Miniard (3-3, 5.23 ERA, 1.35 WHIP). The offense was almost non-existent, and they took the middle game 6-2.

Daylen Lile was 2-for-4 with a triple, steal, and run scored. Jarred Kelenic was 1-for-4 with an RBI double. Mac Horvath was 1-for-4.

August 13th, 2028: We looked to avoid the sweep in St. Louis with a pair of hot pitchers, Steve Paustian (12-4, 3.27 ERA, 1.24 WHIP) and Lenny Torres (2-3, 3.03 ERA, 0.90 WHIP) dueling in the finale. Kole Enright hit an 0-2 fastball thrown by Chad Scoles out of the park for a two run homer, and the Cardinals walked off 4-3 winners.

Paustian went 6.1 innings with 5 hits, 2 runs, 3 walks, and 6 strikeouts. Ignacio Hinojos, Jordan Montgomery, and Trevor Gott got holds, but Scoles blew the save with 2 hits and 2 runs to go with a single strikout in 0.2 innings. Yes, it was 0-2, 2 outs...

August 14th, 2028: Following the sweep, we dropped to 2nd in the Power Rankings, right above the Cardinals. At 73-44, our lead sits at 5.5 games.

We really needed a win, and Jake Florence (8-2, 3.80 ERA, 1.34 WHIP) looked to give that to us against Lucas Sims (4-6, 3.79 ERA, 1.30 WHIP) at the Brewers. Florence did his part, and we topped them 3-1 in the opener.

Luis Ardon (8-4, 3.30 ERA, 1.26 WHIP) took the mound in the middle match against Rodolfo Espinoza (5-10, 4.96 ERA, 1.47 WHIP). We got four in the first, and curised to a 5-2 win.

August 17th-August 24th

August 17th, 2028: Former Marlin lefty and current Athletic Tyler Jay tore his flexor tendon and likely won't be able to pitch until 2030. The 34-year-old has combined for a 5.59 ERA and 1.66 WHIP in 19.1 innings with Oakland and Toronto.

Mets 2B Myles Austin tore his labrum and will not only miss the rest of this season, but likely the beginning of 2029. The former 4th rounder was hitting .230/.286/.459 in 135 at bats with 9 homers and 17 RBI's.

We start the first of two straight home four game series with Devon Peterson (10-8, 4.01 ERA, 1.36 WHIP) on the mound against Philly righty Francisco Morales (0-1, 9.31 ERA, 1.66 WHIP). Chris Reid had an RBI single in the 1st, and that was it. We shut the Phillies out 1-0 to take the opener.

At the ripe young age of 38, veteran Giancarlo Stanton launched three homers in a 7-4 Rockies win over the Mets. With 27 homers this year, he's got 736, less then 30 away from Barry Bonds' record of 762.

August 19th, 2028: Two-time Marlin Victor Arano is out for the year with a torn rotator cuff. He's likely not to pitch next year either. It's been a down year for Arano, who has a 6.44 ERA, but 1.11 WHIP, with 65 strikeouts and 24 saves in 50.1 innigns.

A rare August trade was completed with C Will D. Smith heading to the Mets from the Padres for CF Jeff Holloway and RHP Billy Hardy. I really like this deal for the Padres.

We looked to keep rolling with Jake Florence (9-2, 3.69 ERA, 1.32 WHIP) taking on Cullen Dana (10-3, 2.45 ERA, 1.03 WHIP). The Phillies railled for 8 runs, and took the third game 8-2.

August 21st, 2028: New Orleans 1B Nate Bagwell won American Confrence Player of the Week, hitting .471 with 3 homers and 4 RBI's.

We remained 2nd in the Power Rakings. At 77-47, we have a 5 game lead over the Nationals.

We welcomed the Pirates to town in front of a packed Marlins park with Jorge Flores (8-11, 4.08 ERA, 1.17 WHIP) taking on Ken Haugen (11-6, 4.52 ERA, 1.19 WHIP). The Pirates got 4 in the 1st, but we managed to fight back to edge the Bucs 7-6.

Flores went 5 with 6 hits, 5 runs (4 earned), 2 walks, and 3 strikeouts. Olvera got the win, 1.2 innings with 3 hits, a run, and 2 strikeouts. Riley Ferrell and Trevor Gott earned holds and Chad Scoles got the save.

August 25th, 2028: Padres 3B Bobby Witt Jr. broke his kneecap, and will miss the rest of the season. He's likely to miss at least the start of spring training, but should be back for Opening Day.

We opened the series in Washington with Luis Ardon (9-4, 3.15 ERA, 1.24 WHIP) taking on Cole Ragans (8-8, 5.80 ERA, 1.48 WHIP). Ardon was great, and we took the opener 4-1.

He went 7 innings with 5 hits, a run, 4 walks, and 3 strikeouts. Trevor Gott struck out 2 and allowed a hit in the 8th for the hold. Chad Scoles struck otu 1 in the 9th for save #31.

Chris Reid was 2-for-3 with 2 doubles, 2 RBI's, and a walk. Mac Horvath was 2-for-3 with a run and 2 walks. Grant Koch was 2-for-3 with a double and sac-fly. Daylen LIle was 2-for-4 with a run scored and steal. Noah Smith was 2-for-5 with a run scored. Isaac Nunez was 1-for-5 with a solo homer.

Reds ace Estevan Aguirre was dealing today, and he no-hit the Milwaukee Brewers. The 24-year-old struck out 10 and walked just 1 in the 2-0 win. The young lefty is 8-5 with a 2.79 ERA and 1.04 WHIP on the year, and is on a shortlist of Cy Young candidates.

August 26th, 2028: Happy 51st birthday to the Marlins GM Anthony Yaghmour! He's getting up there in years, and may be nearing the end of his career...

Jorge Flores (8-11, 4.18 ERA, 1.19 WHIP) took the mound against Steve Vincent (6-6, 3.20 ERA, 1.14 WHIP) in the middle match. We topped the Nationals 6-2 and would look for the sweep tomorrow. It's our 82nd of the year, clinching our 8th consecutive winning season!

Nesty Cirese was 3-for-3 with a walk. Chris Reid was 2-for-4 with a walk, solo homer, and two run homer. Daylen Lile was 2-for-4 with a solo homer, walk, and 3 runs scored. Jarred Kelenic was 2-for-5 with a double and RBI. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-4 with a solo homer and walk. Flores was 1-for-3.

August 28th, 2028: We're stuck at 2nd in the Power Rankings. At 82-49, we have a 7.5 game lead on the Nationals, and a 18.5 game lead on the last place Braves.

Those Braves are our opponents today, with Steve Paustian (13-5, 3.2 ERA, 1.27 WHIP) taking on Jonathan Groff (3-3, 4.07 ERA, 1.38 WHIP). With the game tied at 4 after 9, C Will Banfield hit a walk-off solo homer in the 10th to send the Braves fans home 5-4 winners.

Juan Ramirez's thumb was bruised after a hit by pitch, and he'd be day-to-day.

Paustian went 5 innings with 6 hits, 4 runs, and 4 strikeouts. Olvera got the loss, allowing the solo homer to the first batter of the 10th. He'd be optioned after the game...

Jackson Miller was 3-for-5 with an RBI. Jon Reid was 2-for-4 with a solo homer. Noah Smith was 2-for-6 with a two run homer and triple. Mac Horvath was 2-for-4 with a walk.

Rodolfo Medrano's hit streak was stopped at 27, but Reds 3B Rafel Devers' was extended to 20 games.

August 29th, 2028: I recalled Joe Kramer from AAA.

We looked to even the series back up with Jake Florence (9-2, 3.75 ERA, 1.31 WHIP) taking on Ken Harty (6-7, 4.02 ERA, 1.10 WHIP). The Braves got 4 in the 8th to edge closer to a sweep with a 6-2 win.

Wow...

Florence went 6 innings with 5 hits, 2 runs, 2 walks, and a strikeout. Ignacio Hinojos got the loss, 0.1 innings with a hit and run. Jamie Preist allowed 3 runs and 2 hits with 2 walks in an inning with a strikeout.

Wow...

Ardon went 6.1 innings with 8 hits, 5 runs, 2 walks, and 2 strikeouts. Joe Kramer got the loss, 1.1 innings with 2 hits, 3 runs (2 earned), a walk, and strike out.

Juan Ramirez was 2-for-6 with a three run homer. Ardon was 1-for-3 with a double, run scored, and RBI. Daylen Lile was 1-for-4 with a run scored, double, and walk. Juan Simental was 1-for-6 with a double and run scored.

Let's just forget about that series...

August 31st-September 6th

August 31st, 2028: Atlanta will be without SP Juan Ochoa for the rest of the year with shoulder inflammation. Acquired from St. Louis in the Rece Hinds deal, he's 1-1 in 7 starts with a 5.06 ERA and 47 strikeouts in 32 innings.

We're headed home to face the Mets for three. We'll see Sergio Fuentes (4-1, 4.70 ERA), Jhoan Duran (5-10, 3.53 ERA), and Arturo Romo (7-8, 5.47 ERA).

September 1st, 2028: Rosters expand today, so I made a few callups. I recalled Luis Alcantra from his rehab assignment and recalled RF Mike Siani and RHP Alfredo Herrera from AAA New Orleans. Herrera was just named August Pitcher of the Month, gonig 5-0 with a 2.65 ERA with 40 strikeouts in 34 innings (6 starts).

GCL lefty Sean Clark was named Pitcher of the Month in the GCL. A former Rays 4th ROunder, he was 2-0 with 4 saves at 7 strikeouts in 9.2 scorless innings.

We opened the Mets series with Jorge Flores (9-11, 4.11 ERA, 1.18 WHIP) taking on Segio Fuentes (4-1, 4.70 ERA) as we looked to snap our little losing streak. It took 12 innings, but Jarred Kelenic hit a walk-off single off Cal Couglin to win the opener 4-3.

Flores went 7 innings with 7 hits, 3 runs, a walk, and 8 strikeouts. Joe Kramer got the win, 2 innings with 2 strikeouts.

Kelenic was 3-for-6 with the game winning RBI. Chris Reid was 3-for-5 with a walk, solo homer, and 2 runs scored. Mac Horvath was 2-for-5. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-6 with a two run homer. Juan Simental had a pinch hit triple in the 10th with none out, but we stranded him. Jackson Miller was 1-for-5 with a double.

September 2nd, 2028: The Milwaukee Brewers have been the first team eliminated from the postseason. At 47-87, they are 30.5 games out of first place.

The middle game saw Devon Peterson (11-9, 3.78 ERA, 1.34 WHIP) take on Jhoan Duran (5-10, 3.53 ERA, 1.13 WHIP). There was a ton of scoring, and we topped the Mets 9-6.

Peterson went 5 innings with 5 hits, 4 runs (1 earned), 2 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Ignacio Hinojos got a hold, 1.1 innings with a hit, run and 2 strikeouts. Jordan Montgomery allowed a hit (that later scored) to the only batter he faced. Riley Ferrell and Trevor Gott also earned holds before Chad Scoles got the save.

Jackson Miller was 3-for-3 with a run scored, RBI, and 2 walks. Juan Ramirez was 3-for-5 with 2 runs, 2 RBI's, a steal, and a homer. Daylen Lile was 3-for-5 with a pair of steals, runs, and RBI's. Chris Reid was 1-for-3 with a double, run scored, RBI, and walk. Mike Siani was 1-for-4 with a run scored, walk, and steal.

September 3rd, 2028: I recalled RHP Cho-yeong Hyoun from AAA.

We looked to finish the sweep with Jake Florence (9-2, 3.72 ERA, 1.20 WHIP) taking on Arturo Romo (7-8, 5.46 ERA, 1.54 WHIP). A 4 run 7th was critical to the sweep and we finished the finale 6-3.

Florence went 6 innings with 8 hits, 2 runs, 3 walks, and 8 strikeouts. Luis Alcantra got the win, getting the final out of the 7th. Alfredo Herrera allowed a hit, walk, unearned run, and strikeout in 0.2 innings in his major league debut. Riley Ferrell and Chad Scoles got holds before Ignacio Hinojos got the save.

Jarred Kelenic was 3-for-4 with a double, home run, 2 runs, and 3 RBI's. Mac Horvath was 2-for-3 with a hit by pitch and run scored. Juan Simental was 1-for-4 with a double, run scored, and 2 RBI's. Isaac Nunez was 1-for-4 with an RBI. Noah Smith was 1-for-3 with a run scored. Juan Ramirez had a pinch hit double in the 7th and later scored.

The Brewers come to town and will send Victor Mederos (5-10, 5.73 ERA), Lucas Sims (4-8, 3.92 ERA), and Charlie Neeper (5-15, 6.20 ERA) to the mound.

September 4th, 2028: I recalled Sam Minniefield from AAA.

Greensboro 1B Jon Carpenter was named South Atlantic Player of the Week. He hit .462 with a homer and 6 RBI's.

Cubs starter German Marquez is out for the year with bone chips in his elbow. He was 5-8 with a 3.87 ERA in 93 innings with 86 strikeouts.

We're stuck in 2nd in the Power Rankings. At 85-52, we have a playoff percentage of 99.9% and we're slowly inchind towards clinching. We're the only team in the MLB with 80 or more wins (St. Louis has 79) and have the biggest division lead (6.5). Washington, who's in 2nd, would be first in every division except the NL Central.

With an off day in the horizon, we opened the Brewers series with Steve Paustian (13-5, 3.54 ERA, 1.27 WHIP) facing Victor Mederos (5-10, 5.73 ERA, 1.51 WHIP). The pitiful Brewers crushed us 10-3 to open the series...

Paustian allowed 8 hits and 6 runs in 5 innings with 4 walks and 7 strikeouts. Herrera couldn't get an out, and was charged with 2 runs, a walk, and hit. Jamie Priest allowed 2 runs and 3 hits in 2 innings with 4 strikeouts. Blayne Enlow went 2 innings with 2 hits, a walk, and 4 strikeouts.

Jarred Kelenic was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Chris Reid was 1-for-3 with 2 runs and a solo homer. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-4 with a run scored.

Astros 1B Steve Sparks extended his hit streak to 20 games. He's in no relation to the former pitcher.

September 5th, 2028: Since New Orleans did not make the playoffs for the first time since 2020, I was able to make the remainder of my callups today. Heading to the big league roster is Leonel Olvera, Zaire Moneyham, Roberto Pena, Dermott MacGregor, Eric Kisela, and Sergio Tello. Ayden Hardamon has 1 day left on the DL and will come up tomorrow. I transferred Joseph Jarneski to the 60 to make room for the eventual activation of C.J. Jorgensen. Palban Gamboa had 4 weeks left on the DL.

I wanted to purchase the contracts of SS Rogelio Maldonado, LF Bob Poulson, CL Jeremy Reller, RP Esteban Miranda, RP Jorge Luna, and SP Chris Bigsby, but I didn't have any room and didn't want to DFA anyone. They will all likely (except maybe Luna) earn 40 spots in the offseason.

We looked to even the series up with Luis Ardon (10-4, 3.24 ERA, 1.26 WHIP) taking on Alfredo Riera (2-3, 2.41 ERA, 0.88 WHIP). We got 3 quick runs in the 1st, and it was enough for a 4-2 win.

Ardon went 6.1 innings with 5 hits, 2 runs (1 earned), and 6 strikeouts. Luis Alcantra earned the hold and Trevor Gott got(t) his first save of the season. Alcantra tossed 1.2 innings with 4 strikeouts and Gott allowed a hit and walk while striking out the side in the 9th.

Noah Snith was 3-for-4 with a run scored. Daylen Lile was 1-for-3 with a double, walk, and run scored. Juan Simental was 1-for-3 with a two run homer and sac-bunt. Ardon was 1-for-3 with an RBI double. on the season, he's 4-for-39, but with 3 doubles. 5 of his 8 career hits are doubles.

Sparks' streak was snapped at 20.

September 6th, 2028: Ayden Hardemon joined the big league club as we looked to win the rubber match. Jorge Flores (9-11, 4.10 ERA, 1.18 WHIP) took on Lucas Sims (4-8, 3.92 ERA, 1.29 WHIP) in a battle of 34-year-olds. It was a close one, but we managed to edged them 2-1 to take the finale and the series.

Flores went 7 innings with 3 hits, a run, and 4 strikeouts. Luis Alcantra notched a hold and Chad Scoles recorded the save.

Daylen Lile was 2-for-3 with a walk and solo homer. Jackson Miller was 1-for-2 with a double, run scored, and walk. Noah Smith was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Jarred Kelenic was 1-for-3 with a walk.

Tomorrow is an off day before the Nationals come to town.

September 14th-September 21st

September 14th, 2028: The Cleveland Indians have been eliminated from the playoffs. At 60-85, they are 20 games behind the Twins. Cleveland hasn't made the playoffs since 2022 and have gotten worse each year since 2024.

We opened the four game set in Washington with Jake Florence (9-2, 3.72 ERA, 1.33 WHIP) taking on Clint Hinshaw (10-5, 4.04 ERA, 1.27 WHIP). It took 10 innings, but Garrett Frechette hit a walk-off homer to give the Nationals a 8-7 series opening win.

Florence went 4.2 innings with 9 hits, 3 runs, 2 walks, and 2 strikeouts. Trevor Gott allowed 2 runs and 2 hits in 0.1 innings. Riley Ferrell allowed 4 hits, 2 runs, and a walk in 0.1 innings. Chad Scoles got the loss, giving up the solo homer.
