The Expos will have LHP Jordan Hall on the bump, the 27 year old is 2-1 with a 3.62 ERA in 6 starts. The Expos hope to continue their winning way against the Mets winning all three meetings this year. New York 5 Montreal 3 The game between the Mets and Expos is in the books despite a little rain. The Mets bested the Expos 5-3 at Bell Park. Doug Stowe was named player of the game. He went 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk, scored twice. RP Jeremy O'Kelley was the winner, he is now 1-1. Expos usually reliable CL Aidan Beasley took the loss by blowing a 3-2 lead in the 9th and giving up 2 runs in the 10th. Beasley is now 0-1. The Montreal Expos (16-19) will try to recover from a marathon 20 inning game last night that went till nearly 3am when the face the Pittsburgh Pirates (17-17) Expos SP LHP Jordan Hall pitched 3 days ago but because the Expos needed innings from Eric Marks and Jamari Taft, they are not available to start. The 27 year old Hall is 2-1 with a 3.56 ERA in 7 starts this season. The Pirates on the other hand go with well rested RHP Mario Romero, the 34 year old former Expos is now 2-2 with a 2.72 ERA in 7 starts. The Expos are 3-1 against the Pirates this season. Montreal 6 Pittsburgh 2 The Expos toppled the Pirates 6-2 in NL action at PNC Park. The player of the game was CF Tyrell Triche. The 4th place Expos are now 17-19. Triche is now hitting .282 with 1 HR and 6 RBIs in 22 games this year. The 25 year old was originally drafted by the Phillies in the 2nd round, 52nd overall pick in the 1972 MLB draft. The Phillies traded Triche to the Expos along with RF Luis Sanchez in July 1977. The results may have different if not for Raul Rodriquez. The RF produced a run scoring single in the top of the 2nd that but the Expos up 2-0. Rodriquez had a double and a single in 5 at bats. Expos got a gutzy, albeit short effort from SP Jordan Hall while RP Will Gibson picked up the win to go to 2-1. The Braves defeated the Expos 5-4 in NL action with Braves CF Ryan Herring named the player of the game. With the win, the Braves improved to 21-24. The 23 year old Herring is now hitting .289 with 7 HRs and 19 RBIs in 42 games. Last season, he hit .290 with 9 HRs and 36 RBIs in 79 games for the Braves. RP Mark Holmgren allowed 1 run on 1 hit, a HR to Athletics 2B Estevan Gomez. Expos SP Eddie Hernanez did not pitch as he had 100 pitches on June 2nd. The Montreal Expos are now ranked 14th on the MLB Power Rankings. Cincinnati Reds RF Ed Betancourt was named the NL Player of the Week. The 26 year old is hitting .303 with 17 HRs and 47 RBIs in 44 games. This is Betancourts rookie season. Minnesota Twins RF Victor Rubio was named the AL Player of the Week. St Louis 6 Montreal 0 The Expos had no answers for Cardinals SP Miguel Briseno who flummoxed the Expos hitters as the Cardinals cruised to a 6-0 victory. The win was credited to RP Pierre Dubourg in relief, his record improves to 1-0. Eddie Hernanez took the loss and falls to 7-3. The "W" lifts the Cardinals to a 17-31 record. The 27 year old Briseno is now 2-6 with a 4.07 ERA in 11 starts. Briseno's best WAR season was 1976 when he was 7-6 with a 4.11 ERA in 21 starts for the Cardinals.
