Dahms is now hitting .237 with 4 HRs and 7 RBIs in 24 games. The former Expos for 36 games hit a career high .315 for the Tigers in 1972 when playing in 76 games and had 308 at bats. He had 21 HRs that season.

An announced attendance of just over 27,000 came to see Dodgers SP LHP Robbie Green. The 37 year old star pitcher is 3-0 with a 0.84 ERA in 6 starts this year. The Expos counter with LHP Jamari Taft, the 30 year old is 3-3 with a 2.95 ERA in 6 starts this year.

Dodgers SP Robbie Green pitched effectively and the Dodgers take advantage of a timely wild pitch in the 9th to lead to a 3-2 win over the Expos. The Dodgers improved to 20-11 with the win.

Green is now 3-0 with a 1.07 ERA in 7 starts. His career best ERA was 1.79 in 1975 when he was 12-1 in 22 starts for the Dodgers.

Expos SP Eric Marks turned in an exceptional performance against the Mets at Bell Park resulting in a 6-2 win for Montreal. In 8 innings, Marks surrendered 3 hits while striking out 1 and walking 3. He allowed 2 runs. Montreal at 15-17 occupies 3rd place in the NL East.

Marks is now 2-4 with a 3.92 ERA in 7 starts. Marks had a career best ERA of 3.18 in 1974 when he was 7-7 in 21 starts for the Expos.

Had Ricardo Duran not delivered a key hit in the bottom of the 7th, the outcome might have been different. Instead with 2-out and the bases loaded, Duran hit a bases clearing double that made the score 5-2 for the Expos.

Expos CF Danny Plantz collected his 10th and 11th SB's while RF Raul Rodriquez got his 10th SB.

The Expos are very pleased to have ove 35,000 in the bleachers today as the Mets send RHP Arturo Garcia to the hill. The 32 year old is 0-2 with a 3.32 ERA in 6 starts. The Expos will have LHP Jordan Hall on the bump, the 27 year old is 2-1 with a 3.62 ERA in 6 starts. The Expos hope to continue their winning way against the Mets winning all three meetings this year.

The game between the Mets and Expos is in the books despite a little rain. The Mets bested the Expos 5-3 at Bell Park. Doug Stowe was named player of the game. He went 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk, scored twice. RP Jeremy O'Kelley was the winner, he is now 1-1. Expos usually reliable CL Aidan Beasley took the loss by blowing a 3-2 lead in the 9th and giving up 2 runs in the 10th. Beasley is now 0-1.

Stowe is now hitting .302 with 4 HRs and 16 RBIs in 29 games. Stowe had a career best .359 batting average in 1977 in 98 games with the Mets. He also had 27 HRs and 71 RBIs that season.

The Mets got a big at bat from SS Chris Harris. For the game, Harris was 1 for 4 with a HR and was hit by a pitch. He added 2 RBIs and scored once. In the top of the 10th, with a runner on 1st, he hit a 2-run HR, his 1st HR of the year but the Mets up 5-3.

Prestage was the Indians 1973 MLB draft 1st round 11th overall pick. On April 15th, 1976 he was named the MLB's 14th ranked prospect.

San Francisco Giants SP Jeff Brown allowed 4 hits and struck out 9 over 7 innings in a 2-0 win over the Cardinals. The 33 year old is now 5-2 with a 0.95 ERA in 8 starts. Brown was originally part of the 1969 allocation draft to the Houston Astros. In October 1971 he was traded to the Athletics in a deal involving MVP Gregorio Cortes and Expos CL Aidan Beasley. The Pirates hit back to back 2-out solo HRs against Expos CL Aidan Beasley in the 9th to tie the game and then scored in the bottom of the 20th to win the game. Pirates SP Terry Campbell was the player of the game as the Pirates are now on a 3 game win streak.

The 32 year old is now 1-3 with a 3.26 ERA in 5 starts. Campbell was originally part of the 1969 allocation draft to the Indians. He was named the MLB's 26th prospect in April 1969.The Angels picked him up in the 1972 Rule 5 draft, but later released him in April 1973 so he was returned to Cleveland. He was traded to the Pirates by the Indians in September 1974.

The Pirates won due in part to Justin Burrage, for the game he was 2 for 8 with 2 singles, a walk and was hit by a pitch. In the bottom of the 20th, with a man on second he hit a GW RBI single.

The Expos got 3 hits from 3B Gilberto Luna and 1B Darren Maher. 2B Chris Nichols collected his 5th SB while CL Aiden Beasley got his 2nd blown save and SP Eric Marks fell to 2-5 as he was socked with the loss.


Cincinnati Reds CF Ismael Valle was named the NL Player of the Week. The 23 year old is now hitting .361 with 6 HRs and 18 RBIs in 34 games. Valle was originally signed to a minor league contract out of Argentina in October 1971 by the Reds. He was named the MLB's #2 prospect in April 1976.

Cleveland Indians RF Brendan D'India was named the AL Player of the Week. The 24 year old is hitting .313 with 8 HRs and 26 RBIs in 29 games. D'India was drafted in the 1st round, 1st overall by the Indians in the 1975 MLB draft. In April 1976, he was named the MLB's #1 ranked prospect.

Baltimore Orioles SP Trevor Fraley will miss up to 12 months with a stretched elbow ligament. The 26 year old was 3-4 with a 2.72 ERA in 8 starts. Fraley was the Orioles 1st round, 19th overall pick in the 1970 MLB draft.

The Montreal Expos (16-19) will try to recover from a marathon 20 inning game last night that went till nearly 3am when the face the Pittsburgh Pirates (17-17) Expos SP LHP Jordan Hall pitched 3 days ago but because the Expos needed innings from Eric Marks and Jamari Taft, they are not available to start. The 27 year old Hall is 2-1 with a 3.56 ERA in 7 starts this season. The Pirates on the other hand go with well rested RHP Mario Romero, the 34 year old former Expos is now 2-2 with a 2.72 ERA in 7 starts. The Expos are 3-1 against the Pirates this season.

Montreal 6 Pittsburgh 2


The Expos toppled the Pirates 6-2 in NL action at PNC Park. The player of the game was CF Tyrell Triche. The 4th place Expos are now 17-19.

Triche is now hitting .282 with 1 HR and 6 RBIs in 22 games this year. The 25 year old was originally drafted by the Phillies in the 2nd round, 52nd overall pick in the 1972 MLB draft. The Phillies traded Triche to the Expos along with RF Luis Sanchez in July 1977.

The results may have different if not for Raul Rodriquez. The RF produced a run scoring single in the top of the 2nd that but the Expos up 2-0. Rodriquez had a double and a single in 5 at bats.

Expos got a gutzy, albeit short effort from SP Jordan Hall while RP Will Gibson picked up the win to go to 2-1. The Expos pitching staff will get a much needed day off after the 3rd game of this series.

The Montreal Expos (17-19) will close out a 3 game series with the Pittsburgh Pirates (17-18) before getting a well deserved day off. The Expos are 4-1 against the Pirates this season. The Expos will go with RHP Eddie Hernanez, the 25 year old is 5-2 with a 1.73 ERA in 8 starts. Hernanez like, Hall yesterday pitched 3 days ago so expect a shorter outing then normal. The Pirates go with LHP Logan Clayton, the 31 year old is 1-3 with a 3.32 ERA in 7 starts.

Getting a good performance from RF Raul Rodriquez, the Expos defeated the Pirates 6-2. Rodriquez went 3 for 5 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Expos. Montreal is now 18-19 while Pittsburgh drops to 17-19 with the loss.

The 24 year old Rodriquez is now hitting .267 with 0 HRs and 11 RBIs in 31 games this year. Rodriquez originally signed a minor league deal with the Expos out of Columbia in July 1970. He was traded the same month to the Padres by the Expos. In June 1974 the Padres traded him back to the Expos.

Rodriquez had a key at bat for Montreal early in the game. With runners on 1st and 3rd, he hit a 2-run double. It was his 3rd double of the season and gave Montreal the 2-0 lead.

Expos SP Eddie Hernanez improved to 6-2 with the win, he was pitching on fumes after 5 innings.

Marks is now 3-5 with a 3.66 ERA in 9 games including 8 starts. Marks was the Expos 1st round, 7th overall pick in the 1969 MLB draft. In April 1970 he was named the MLB's #51 prospect. Marks also added his 1st HR of the year, it was his 3rd career HR.

David de la Torre aided the Expos cause with a 2-run HR in the top of the 8th. For the game the LF was 1 for 4 with 2 RBIs and scored once.

The Montreal Expos made a roster announcement before todays game. The Expos have demoted 2B/SS Chris Nichols to AAA Seattle and have promoted SS/2B David Sanchez to the Expos. The 26 year old Nichols was hitting .227 with 3 HRs and 12 RBIs in 32 games. The 27 year old Sanchez was hitting .248 with 4 HRs and 22 RBIs in 35 AAA games.

The Montreal Expos (19-21) are off to face the Cincinnati Reds (25-15) in Cincinnati. The Reds swept the first 3 game series in Montreal this year. The Expos go with RHP Eddie Hernanez, the 25 year old is 6-2 with a 1.73 ERA in 9 starts. The Reds go with RHP Lorenzo Ruiz, the 23 year old is 2-1 with a 3.66 ERA in 7 starts.

Philadelphia Phillies CL Ian Daniel collected his 200th career save today in a 4-3 win over the Pirates. The 34 year old former Expos is now 0-3 with 7 saves and a 5.02 ERA in 16 games this year. For his career, besides the saves, he is 25-27 with a 2.59 ERA in 385 relief appearances. (424 IP) Daniel started his career in 1969 when he was part of the Allocation draft and he was selected by the Padres. In July 1970 he was traded to the Expos in a deal that saw current Expos RF Raul Rodriquez being traded to the Padres. The Expos traded Daniel to the Orioles in May 1973 in a deal that brought 3 players including 2B Chris Nichols to the Expos. In November 1976, Daniel signed as a free agent with the Phillies. Daniel is a 4-time All Star.

Atlanta Braves CF Chris Mitchell was named he NL Player of the Week. The 26 year old is hitting .268 with 3 HRs and 25 RBIs in 40 games. For his career, Mitchell is hitting .271 with 44 HRs and 153 RBIs in 368 MLB games.

The Braves defeated the Expos 5-4 in NL action with Braves CF Ryan Herring named the player of the game. With the win, the Braves improved to 21-24.

The New York Yankees were given a severe blow to their season. SP Billy Maack will miss the remainder of the season with shoulder inflammation. The 27 year old is 3-4 with a 2.76 ERA in 10 starts. Last year Maack was 2-2 with a 3.47 ERA in 11 starts for the Yankees.

The American League defeated the National League 5-4 in the MLB All Star Game.


For the Expos, 3B Gilberto Luna was 1 for 2 with a run scored. He hit a double in the 3rd inning. RP Mark Holmgren allowed 1 run on 1 hit, a HR to Athletics 2B Estevan Gomez. Expos SP Eddie Hernanez did not pitch as he had 100 pitches on June 2nd.

The Montreal Expos are now ranked 14th on the MLB Power Rankings.

The win was credited to RP Pierre Dubourg in relief, his record improves to 1-0. Eddie Hernanez took the loss and falls to 7-3. The "W" lifts the Cardinals to a 17-31 record.

The 27 year old Briseno is now 2-6 with a 4.07 ERA in 11 starts. Briseno's best WAR season was 1976 when he was 7-6 with a 4.11 ERA in 21 starts for the Cardinals. Briseno left the game due to what appeared to be a sprained ankle.
