Ketchel moves up to HW with a bang...

Stanley Ketchel, USA, Pro Debut vs. Stanley O’Day, USA, 0-2-0

In the battle of the Stanley’s, Ketchel drops the first bomb and floors O’Day at the end of the 1st round. O’Day is able to get up and finish the round but we will have to see if there are any lingering effects in the next round. Ketchel is able to control the 2nd round, 15-6, but it looks as though O’Day has recovered from the knockdown suffered in the 1st. O’Day goes down again in the 3rd. The fight is over as O’Day is unable to get up at the 1:57 mark of the 3rd round.

Winner: Ketchel
Result: (KO3)
Cards: 20-17, 19-18, 20-17, all in favor of Ketchel.
Punch stats: 34.5% - 68.9% O’Day

Anticipated match-up...

The U.K. Boxing Group and the British fans are very excited about the final match-up between Lloyd Honeyghan and Joe Calzaghe. Both fighters are young, up and coming heavyweights with a lot of good boxing skills and unlimited potential. Both boxers also had brilliant amateur careers, Honeyghan 43-5-0 (31), and Calzaghe 44-0-0 (32), though they never had the opportunity to meet until these finals. Honeyghan comes into the fight with a pro record of 7-0-0 (6). Calzaghe comes into the fight with a pro record of 8-0-0 (7).

A Nightmare for Herelius in France...

Chris “The Nightmare” Arreola, Mexico, 11-5-1 (6) vs. Steve Herelius, France, 10-6-0 (10)

Good 1st round as both men work from the inside. “The Nightmare” scores with the better punches, 14-9. The ref is looking carefully, as Herelius has taken a beating, 29-5, so far in the the 5th. Herelius is allowed to continue. Arreola knocks Herelius down for the 3rd time of the fight with 1:59 left in the 7th. The Frenchman gets up again even though he looks spent. Arreola takes another round, 20-4. Chris “The Nightmare” Arreola comes to France and finally finishes the fight with another knockdown in the 8th. Yeah, nice win though, especially since he had to fight in France. Blocking punches with the face is not a good idea!

Damn, I was hoping that Honeyghan would take the fight. That was the first loss suffered by a forumite managed fighter wasn't it?

Actually, it was the 2nd. Aztec Promotions (Javier) and Julio Cesar Chavez had an unfortunate loss to Eusebio Hernandez Jr.
