I stumbled upon my names file and finally figured out why I HAD to edit so many names in my universe. For one, it was somehow set that 2/3 of all players would be derived from the Latino name file. Then another 1/4 of the names were derived from an African-American name file with an overabundance of the name Jayden, for example, showing up. I always wondered why 25% of the African-American players were pre-named Jayden!

Anyway, I have no idea how to get back there, but I upped Irish and Polish names, as one part of what Boston-area names should be. I will edit some, but definitely not as much, as we move forward. With that said, the Bradberton Boys League and Maine Youth Leagues have now dropped. May the editing commence for a lot of players we will never see in this dynasty.

CBO Nuka Cup Tournament

Finals Game 1: University Point 3, Fort Hagen 2

Barker Cocoa's two-run, walk-off home run in the bottom of the 9th sealed the victory for the Deathclaws in the first game of the Nuka Cup Tournament Finals. The Claws won, 3-2.

With Victor Numbclaw on the mound for Fort Hagen in the bottom of the 9th, pinch hitter Wee Willy Warrington flew out and then Chris Recore singled to put the tying run on first. After Rock Rampage flew out to put University Point down to its last out, Cocoa took a 2-1 pitch over the right-centerfield wall for a 441-foot blast.

The Silver Shroud led the game since the top of the 2nd. Bullet Minnow hit a two-out solo shot off Claws SP Alex Alexson in the 2nd. In the 4th, KiJana Mallee hit the Shroud's second home run.

The Deathclaws got their first run in the bottom of the 4th. After Aesed Hayjen led off with a single and Tomas Jones later walked, Shawn Cherry hit a two-out RBI single to put University Point on the board.

Finals Game 2: Fort Hagen 6, University Point 3, 10 inn.

The Silver Shroud earned the victory, 6-3, in 10 innings in the come-from-behind win. Foo Fieterz's three-run shot in the top of the 10th made the difference. Fort Hagen trailed early in the game, 3-0.

University Point took the early lead in the bottom of the 1st. Chris Recore led off the inning with a single off Fort Hagen starter La'Ray Kalel and then advanced to second when left fielder KiJana Mallee fumbled the ball for the first of the Shroud's three errors. After Rock Rampage moved Recore to third on a fly ball, Barker Cocoa hit an RBI sacrifice fly to make it 1-0 Claws.

University Point scored its next two runs in the 5th and 6th innings for a 3-0 lead. Recore tripled to lead off the 5th and then scored on Rampage's RBI single. In the 6th, Chris Hirshfield walked and Tomas Jones singled. An error by Shroud RF Fieterz advanced the runners an extra base. An error by 3B Jaxon Grits then loaded the bases with no outs, putting the Shroud in danger of getting blown out. However, Kalel was able to get two straight outs before walking in Hirshfield with Recore up to bat. Rampage flew out to end the threat.

Fort Hagen was able to tie the game in the top of the 7th. UP SP Lawdog Whipple walked Grits to start the inning and then Alibel Contacts singled. Sleve McDichael then hit an RBI single to make it 3-1. With one out, Malificent Shaw singled in Contacts to cut the lead to one. With two outs and the bases loaded, Whipple walked Brennan Colt-45 to tie the game, 3-3.

In the 10th, Deathclaws RP Willie Lule was on the mound. Mallee led off with a single, and later advanced to second with two outs on a ground out by Contacts. After Lule intentionally walked Sleve McDichael, Fieterz hit a 385-foot home run over the left field wall on a 2-2 pitch.

Finals Game 3: University Point 6, Fort Hagen 2

The Deathclaws got their second walk-off home run and series-clinching victory in the bottom of the 9th when Aesed Hayjen hit a grand slam for the 6-2 victory over Fort Hagen. It was Hayjen's second home run of the game.

CL Kevin Marsh got the call for the Silver Shroud in the bottom of the 9th. He walked Wee Willy Warrington to lead off the inning. With one out and Chris Recore on first, Marsh then walked Rock Rampage and Barker Cocoa in back-to-back at bats to put the winning run at third. On a 2-2 count, Hayjen hit the grand slam over the right field wall, a 375-foot kill shot.

Hayjen put the Deathclaws up 1-0 in the bottom of the 4th when he hit a one-out, solo shot off Fort Hagen SP Nien Nunb. The Claws took a 2-0 lead in the 6th on Claws' SP Tony Bertha's RBI single.

The Silver Shroud answered in the top of the 7th to tie the game, 2-2. Sleve McDichael hit a one-out double and then scored on the next at-bat when Foo Fieterz singled him in. Fieterz advanced to second on the throw home. With two outs, Bullets Minnow singled in Fieterz.

CYL Analysis

The first month of the 2311 CYL season is now complete. Eighteen of the season's 70 games are complete, and we already have several teams emerging as championship contenders.

Division leaders are:

Franklin - Acton Ups and Sudbury Celebs
Emerson - Beantown Sprouts
Fuller - South Charles Bank Moonies
Revere - Marblehead Mess
Adams - Coventry Quads
Alcott - Andrew Station Southies, Braintree Schoolboys, and Spectacle Island Specters
Morse - Wareham Comets
Attucks - Dennis Menaces

CYL Players of the Month

NR Hitter - When Pluck Halfton stepped up to the plate in March he did it with confidence, and today he was honored with the North Region Batter of the Month award.

The young Danvers left fielder posted a .392 batting average with 14 home runs, 26 RBIs and scored 17 runs. Halfton also worked pitchers for no walks to post a .396 on-base percentage.

SR Hitter - Even though he is a newcomer to Commonwealth Youth League, Jack O'Spades put up some good numbers in March and earned the SR Batter of the Month award.

He was one of Wellfleet's offensive leaders with a .413 average in 18 games. He also racked up 10 home runs, 22 RBIs, and 16 runs scored.

NR Pitcher - Gogo Yubari of the Rockport Seafarers outdistanced his peers on the mound this month. He fashioned a fine 4-0 won-lost mark and 0.50 ERA in 5 starts to get the North Region Pitcher of the Month honors.

Yubari had a very impressive March, finishing with 40 strikeouts in 35.2 innings and holding opposing hitters to a .140 average.

SR Pitcher - Julian Bashir of North Providence had an excellent March with a 5-0 record and was selected as the Pitcher of the Month in the South Region.

He finished the month with a 1.34 ERA while piling up 45 strikeouts in 40.1 innings and holding opposing hitters to a .144 batting average.

I've modded that before, but the fact that I got the desired outcome was probably luck rather than me knowing what I'm doing, so I think we're in the same boat.

Something must have been corrupted at some point in changing versions of the game because it was way off from what my expectations were for generated names.

Before I ever first bought a Steam version, I remember that I had an edited file where I would replace it with the standard name file. Once I first went to a Steam version around OOTP 21 or so, I quit trying to mess with the name files because the automated updates would throw things off. For OOTP 25, I decided to buy directly from OOTP instead of Steam, but I have used Steam for three of the past versions (21, 23, and 24). Maybe switching back and forth messed it up at some point. Hopefully, the Jayden Williams and Jose Perez names will be few and far between.

Now, I just need to find that name file again . . . Settings? Ugh, I want to write about the Fallout universe, so I won't look for it until the 2312 season nears. All names, generated and edited are now complete for 2311.

CCYL Preview

Harvard, Holy Cross Predicted for College Series

The 2311 predictions are in for the Commonwealth Collegiate Baseball League, and PAM sees the Harvard Crimson and Holy Cross Crusaders meeting for the 2311 College Series. PAM believes that the Crimson will win their third-straight title.

Harvard is picked to win the BCAC North Division, Mass Bay University is picked to win the BCAC South Division, the Crusaders are picked to win the newly-added Masscon Western Division, and Mass Atlantic University is picked to win the Masscon Eastern Division. Masscon stands for the Massachusetts Conference. Right now, divisions are separated. Future seasons may see all teams of a single conference in a single "division."

Some of contenders as top hitters are 3B Finnan Hunt, FR, Stonehill College; 3B Donovan Mackey, FR, Northeastern University; LF Juan Johnson, FR, Holy Cross University; and CF Brandon Brown, FR, Holy Cross.

For top pitchers, contenders are SP Em Babbage, JR, Harvard University; SP Frank Heart, JR, Mass Bay University; SP Jafar Khassanov, FR, Mass Atlantic University; and SP Bladder Phillips, FR, Nuka University.

As mentioned, Harvard University has won the past two championships in three seasons of the college league. Last season, the Crimson defeated Mass Bay University in the College Series. This season, though, the playoffs will change to a format that mirrors the old "College World Series" format. The top eight teams with each of the division winners and four more wildcards will advance to a double-elimination tournament. Then, the final two teams remaining will play a three-game series with the first team to two wins being declared the college champions. The CYL has adopted a similar format with the winners of the North Region and South Region tournaments no longer being guaranteed to meet in the Commonwealth Youth Series.

CBO Preview

We have reached opening day of the 2311 season. All 28 teams have set their 25-man roster and shipped off the rest of the players to one of their three minor league affiliations. Let's take a look at what to expect in 2311.

First of all, PAM has analyzed the power of the newcomers in the league with the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud flipping the script from 2310 when they finished 55-75 AND 5th place in the Institute League. This season, PAM has the Shroud rising to the top to be the CBO's best team.

In the South Charles Association, PAM thinks three teams will be jammed together, but PAM has the Vault 81 Dwellers as the SCA champions. In all, the playoff seedings would look like this if PAM's predictions would come true:

NCA
1. Fort Hagen
2. Nordhagen Beach
3. Starlight
4. Nahant
5. Sunshine Tidings
6. The Slog

SCA
1. Vault 81
2. Quincy
3. University Point
4. Egret
5. Spectacle Island
6. Roxbury

In that same respect, the top ten draft picks would go to:
1. Glowing Sea
2. Southie
3. Cambridge
4. Malden
5. Diamond City
6. Lexington
7. Concord
8. Easy Town
9. Goodneighbor
10. FHE

The top hitters in the NCA are expected to be LF Family Sam Partridge, Sunshine Tidings; 3B Diamond Ball, Nahant; RF Babs Rooth, County Crossing; and 3B Ross Merchantman, Sunshine Tidings. 2310 Nuka Hitter winner, CF Maxx Murtagh of Nordhagen Beach, is expected to finish 5th in hitting.

In the SCA, the top hitter choice is no secret in seven-time Nuka Hitter Award winner, 1B Barker Cocoa of University Point. The race for 2nd place in the voting is expected to be among LF Zod Gaycey, Spectacle Island; LF Ken Debate, Jamaica Plain; CF Ben Pawalk, Roxbury; and RF Naga Arakaki, Glowing Sea.

For pitching, SP Beachboy Nut of Nordhagen Beach is expected to win his ninth Vim! Pitcher Award. Other contenders in the NCA are SP Zack Million, Nahant; SP Flirt Perez, The Slog; SP Sheng Kawolski, Sunshine Tidings; and SP Digger Vadim, Starlight. SP Scott Fuhr of Easy Town was the surprise winner in 2310, but he is not expected to repeat that effort. Interestingly, the top rated pitcher according to OSA scouts, SP Jason Tonelli of Bunker Hill, is not one of top the Vim! Pitcher Award candidates.

Goodneighbor's SP Heaven Fontenot is expected to win his first Vim! Pitcher Award. Other contenders are SP Jalep Temper, Spectacle Island; 2310 winner SP Paul Stains, Diamond City; SP Chris Teddybear, Spectacle Island; and SP Lyle Pine, Quincy.

Treelover Throws CBO's 13th No-Hitter

It was a fantastic day for Goodneighbor Hancocks starter Clubhouse Treelover and a lousy day for the Spectacle Island Reapers.

The Goodneighbor hurler's pitching artistry completely befuddled and bewildered the Reapers, as the Hancocks cruised to a 3-0 win. When it was all over, Treelover was credited with one of the rarer feats in baseball -- a no-hitter.

"The ball was moving and darting, and best of all, going where I wanted it to go," Treelover said later.

He rang up 8 strikeouts and allowed 5 walks while shutting Spectacle Island down at Third Rail Stadium.

Treelover was the 1st-overall pick out of Weymouth of the CYL in the 2307 Draft. He made his CBO premier in 2309 with the Hancocks as a reliever, compiling a 5.44 ERA in 36 appearance. Last season, he moved to starter and had an instant impact on the team, finishing the season 13-10 with a 3.81 ERA in 31 starts. He finished second in the SCA in hits allowed per 9 innings (7.62).

BNN Report

News from the CBO, Minors, BCAC, and CYL

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

24 April 2311

CBO Analysis

We have just begun the 2311 season, and already the storylines are exploding across the CBO. We will break down the individual leagues, as we usually do in our two-week breakdowns of league performance.

One thing to point out is that we know it is early, but there have been some interesting results so far. The top of the first Power Rankings will serve as the first big surprise. One league has a four-way tie for 1st place, two expansion teams are in the early thick of the playoff hunt, and some star and up-and-coming players are already dealing with injuries.

Here are the current team power rankings for Commonwealth Baseball Organization:

Teams (Total Points, Tendency):
1) FHE Yao Guai (143.5, +)
2) Oberland T-51s (143.5, -)
3) Starlight Killers (143.5, ++)
4) Nahant Celtics (129.6, -)
5) Salem Witch Hats (129.6, +)
6) Quincy Gunners (124.8, ++)
7) Lexington Synths (114.8, ++)
8) Nordhagen Beach Party Boys (114.8, ++)
9) Atom Cats (111.8, --)
10) Jamaica Plain Red Rockets (111.8, o)
11) University Point Deathclaws (109.8, -)
12) Bunker Hill 75ers (99.9, ++)
13) Cambridge Coursers (99.9, --)
14) Roxbury Rad Sox (99.9, +)
15) The Slog Ghouls (93.9, -)
16) Egret Ninjas (92.9, --)
17) Spectacle Island Reapers (88.1, ++)
18) Diamond City Swatters (86.1, o)
19) Goodneighbor Hancocks (82.1, --)
20) Vault 81 Dwellers (69.2, ++)
21) Fort Hagen Silver Shroud (66.2, -)
22) Malden Grognaks (66.2, --)
23) Sunshine Tidings Chemists (66.2, -)
24) County Crossing Bloodbugs (47.4, --)
25) Easy Town Assaultrons (36.5, o)
26) Concord Radstags (33.5, -)
27) Southie Brews (17.7, -)
28) Glowing Sea Radscorpions (1.8, o)

We told you the top would serve as a surprise!

Brotherhood League

Salem and Nahant are sitting at the top with Nordhagen Beach just a game behind them. The Party Boys already got a blow when they learned that rising star, RF Gorgeous DiGiacomo, will be out for the remainder of the season after tearing his Achilles tendon. DiGiacomo hit .331 with 8 home runs and 38 RBI as a part-time starter in 2310.

While they are not above .500, one team worth giving kudos to early is the Malden Grognaks at 5-8. While the statistics do not back up the record, currently 13th in runs scored (54) and 12th in runs allowed (76), the Grognaks have found ways to win games and can only hope to improve on their 45-85 record in their debut year. So far, the Grogs are on that pace. 1B Andy Stamey (.318/2/12) has had a decent start on the season, as has SP Nick Hardy (2-0, 3.06).

Institute League

We know that PAM chose Fort Hagen to win this league and the CBO title in 2311, but the team comprised of a bunch of newcomers to the CBO has had early struggles, currently 5-8 and tied for 5th place with Sunshine Tidings. Starlight is sitting atop the IL, tied with Oberland and FHE for the CBO's top record, with Lexington and Cambridge surprise teams above .500.

Just like we mentioned Malden, let's also break down the Coursers some more, a team currently in the playoff hunt unlike their SCA expansion counterparts. Statistically, it makes no sense that they are a game above .500, but the most important statistic is wins and losses. Cambridge is 10th in runs scored (65) and tied for 10th in runs allowed (73). 1B Lettit Bee (.400/2/8) has had the strongest start on offense, while SP Lippy Lyonne (1-0, 2.70) has started out well for Cambridge after coming just 11 days ago from Malden in a trade.

Minutemen League

Four teams are packed together and knotted up at 8-5, including Quincy which started 0-5 and now has won eight straight. Typical slow starters University Point and Jamaica Plain are up there, too, along with a surprise visit from Atom. Southie can already start preparing for the draft and what their 2312 roster may look like.

Goodneighbor is a game below .500, but we feel as though they are a team on the brink of being competitive. Of course, it does not help that star player, CF Missile Crews (.355/0/10) has been banged up to start the season. Goodneighbor is 9th in runs scored (66) and 4th in runs against (64) thanks to a young and generally effective pitching staff. Staff ace and expected 2312 Vim! Pitcher Award winner, Heaven Fontenot (3-1, 2.56), has already thrown a no-hitter this season and has looked good on the mound.

Railroad League

FHE tied for the CBO's best record? What in Ug-Qualtoth's name is going on here? Let's take a closer look at them later. For now, while the Yao Guai are tied with Oberland atop the RL, Pam's pick for the team to emerge from the SCA, Vault 81, is in 6th at 5-8 with a bullpen that may be a detriment to their championship aspirations (13th in Bullpen ERA at 7.46).

For the Yao Guai, nothing particularly stands out for the team. They are 5th in runs scored (78) and tied for 5th in runs allowed (65). Both SS Hose Wallcrawler (.370/4/12) and 1B Innis Sark (.359/4/13) have been good all-around hitters, with LF Makin Jobear joining them for the team HR lead at four. FHE is second in home runs with 23. On the mound, third starter Baker Dozen (3-0, 1.65) has been the one doing the most damage to opponents.

CBO Standings

CBO Players of the Week

April 17 - It's always a thrill for fans of the team and students of the game alike when a superstar in the making shows what he's got. Redface Brickstone, the Lexington Synths 24-year-old right fielder, put himself in the spotlight last week making him the clear-cut choice for North Charles Association Player of the Week honors.

He ripped 13 hits in 26 at-bats, compiling a .500 average with 3 home runs and 12 RBIs.

Ben Pawlak is respected by most Roxbury Rad Sox fans for his no-frills style of play. The 34-year-old center fielder went about his business with vigor last week to grab the South Charles Association Player of the Week honors.

He compiled a .462 average (12-for-26) with 3 home runs, 6 RBIs and 8 runs scored.

April 24 - Cypher Raige demonstrated his potential to be a star in the game last week and today he took home the North Charles Association Player of the Week Award.

The The Slog right fielder wreaked havoc on opposing pitchers last week, pounding them for a .480 average (12-for-25) with 3 home runs and 6 RBIs on his way to claiming the honor.

This week's Player of the Week was Orcin Cardinal of the Oberland T-51s.

He battered South Charles Association pitching for 7 hits in 19 at-bats, 5 home runs and 10 RBIs while hitting .368 and scoring 5 runs.

BNN Report

News from the CBO, Minors, BCAC, and CYL

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

1 May 2311

The May Super Post

CBO Players of the Month

NCA Hitter - Babs Rooth received the North Charles Association Batter of the Month trophy earlier today for his efforts at the plate this last month.

"He might be getting older," County Crossing's manager told reporters, "But he's been around long enough to know what it takes to put a stretch such as this together... and he doesn't keep that to himself. He's always talking to the younger guys in the clubhouse helping 'em any way they'll let him. Babs's value to our team goes farther than the numbers he puts up on the field."

To win the honor Rooth put up a .441 batting average, 4 home runs, 13 RBIs and scored 20 times in April.

SCA Hitter - Orcin Cardinal battered South Charles Association pitchers all April and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award.

"I've been around Commonwealth Baseball Organization long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 28-year-old Cardinal told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month."

In 20 games, Cardinal hit .385 with 10 home runs, 29 RBIs and scored 16 runs.

NCA Pitcher - Beachboy Nut really tore up the North Charles Association this past month. He went 5-0 in April and won the Pitcher of the Month award.

In 5 starts he struck out 29 in 37.1 innings with a 1.93 ERA.

SCA Pitcher - The Pitcher of the Month for April has been picked and the South Charles Association award went to FHE hurler, Baker Dozen.

During the month, Dozen was impressive with a 2.22 ERA and 4 wins and 1 loss. In 28.1 innings he struck out 15 and gave up 27 hits and 8 walks.

NCA Rookie - Easy Rider Powell earned April's Rookie of the Month honors in the North Charles Association for last month's performance. The boyish Cambridge center fielder might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level.

Powell hit .341 with 8 home runs, 18 RBIs and 11 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award.

SCA Rookie - FHE's Rocket Arm Espinosa collected 16 hits to snare the South Charles Association Rookie of the Month for April.

He batted .485 with 7 home runs, 18 RBIs and 13 runs scored.

The 20-year-old is barely old enough to shave, but he could definitely contend for Rookie of the Year if he keeps up this pace.

MML Analysis

MML Players of the Month

LL Hitter - When Sack King stepped up to the plate in April he did it with confidence, and today he was honored with the Legends League Batter of the Month award.

The 21-year-old hit .406 with 13 home runs, 39 RBIs and 19 runs scored.

LL Pitcher - Don Sanctuary had a very good April and has been rewarded with the Legends League Pitcher of the Month Award. The Abernathy bullpen specialist was very effective, constantly coming in and getting his club out of trouble or protecting a one-run or two-run lead.

The Adamantium ace starred with no saves in no relief appearances, logging 46 innings, 42 strikeouts, 14 walks and a 1.17 ERA. Sanctuary finished the month with 5 wins and no losses -- and was named the league's best pitcher.

BMU Players of the Month

CA Hitter - For a rookie just breaking in, Curious Vault certainly put together a successful month. It was good enough to win the CA Batter of the Month award for April.

The 20-year-old first baseman for the Mystic Pines Raybathers hit .411 with 10 home runs, 16 RBIs and 16 runs scored.

MA Hitter - Jiub Menace put together a good April to earn the Massachusetts Association Batter of the Month prize. A virtual unknown, he made the most of his chance to prove to Mass Pike officials that he belongs on the big league roster.

The Radroaches left fielder posted a .356 batting average with 10 home runs, 18 RBIs and 14 runs scored.

CA Pitcher - The top pitcher this past month in the Commonwealth Association was Tey How of the Taffington Boathouse Spy Hunters. He really bewildered league hitters, finishing April with an excellent 3-1 record and 0.90 ERA.

The Spy Hunters hurler made 4 starts and surrendered 15 hits in 30 innings. He struck out 26 and walked 6.

MA Pitcher - Brockton Irish fans lauded the selection of reliever Andre Blande as Massachusetts Association Pitcher of the Month for April. The 21-year-old hurler was nothing short of masterful, holding enemy hitters to a .080 average.

In 6 relief appearances he put up a 2-0 record, 4 saves, 5 strikeouts and an ERA of 0.00 over 8 innings.

In the GBRL, the Roadside Pines Cosmos (FtH) have gotten off to a 15-1 start, only one better than their division rivals, the Greater Mass Vans (FHE). GBRL Players of the Month

NL Hitter - Bipp Islander may be much younger than other hitters in the North League, but he performed like a seasoned veteran in April to win the Batter of the Month award.

The 19-year-old Corvega first baseman hit .340 with 10 home runs, 22 RBIs and 18 runs scored.

SL Hitter - It's perhaps an award he'll win many more times through his career, as at age 18 Rodney Caribou has a lot of baseball ahead of him.

But for now the young Big John Salvagers star can enjoy the numbers he put up in April, which have garnered him the nod as the South League Batter of the Month.

His breakout month featured a .327 average with 11 home runs, 22 RBIs and 21 runs scored.

NL Pitcher - Union Hope starter Dog Miller claimed the North League Pitcher of the Month Award today with his strong performance in April.

The 21-year-old starter tossed 24.2 innings of solid baseball, putting up a 2.55 ERA, 38 strikeouts and a 4-0 record in 4 starts.

SL Pitcher - Question: Who was the #1 pitcher in the South League in April?

Answer: That would be Nick Soulless of the Roadside Pines Cosmos.
He excelled with a 4-0 mark and a 0.58 ERA in 4 starts, tossed 31 innings, fanned 31 and held opposing teams to a .167 average. That's exactly why the South League scribes voted him the Pitcher of the Month.

CCBL Analysis

There is still plenty of season to play, but the expanded CCBL has shown a lot of promise for good baseball for now and the future. Divisional leaders are the Winthrop Guardians, Boston College Eagles, Assumption Greyhounds, and a tie between the Mass Atlantic Suns and U Mass-Loweell River Hawks.

The divisional winners will be the top four seeds in the College Series tournament with four non-winners playing as wildcards in the double-elimination tournament to end the season. Those current wildcard teams are Greenfield College, Holy Cross, Mass Bay, and a tie between Nuka U and Harvard. The Crimson won the last two championships and was predicted to win it again this season.

CCBL Players of the Month

Hitter - Sheedy Smith is not used to being associated with Batter of the Month-caliber players, but today the Plymouth University first baseman joined that select company when the Commonwealth Collegiate Baseball League announced the results of April's voting.

Smith totaled 44 hits, 12 walks, 10 home runs, 26 RBIs and 28 runs scored last month to put together a .484 batting average and .543 on-base percentage.

Pitcher - A standout performance in April earned Gilchrist Moore the Pitcher of the Month Award in the Commonwealth Collegiate Baseball League. When his name was penciled in to start by the Boston College skipper, it meant trouble for opposing teams. For the month the Eagles star racked up 5 wins and 2 losses.

In 50.1 innings of work, Moore limited opposing batters to 37 base hits and a .202 batting average. He notched 51 strikeouts, issued 8 walks and had a 0.72 ERA.

CYL All-Star Game

Freshman T'Pol Lovsky of Lynn Pier said the annual all-star game is mostly for the fans to enjoy, but the players have a lot of fun too.

"It's a great time to get that much talent on one ball diamond," he said. "You feel fortunate to even be part of it."

Lovsky wasn't just a part of the game, he was named the game MVP, as his North Region All-Stars won 6-4 over the South Region All-Stars.

Lovsky went 1 for 2 in the game to earn the nod as the game's best.

Lovsky is the youngest of the Lovsky brothers playing in the youth leagues, but he may be the most talented. His oldest brother, T'Pring, plays in the Bradberton Boys League for the Bay Path Voyagers. Their season begins today. The middle brother, T'Pau, plays for the Beerthirty Sippers of the CYL.

CYL Players of the Month

NR Hitter - Even though he is a newcomer to Commonwealth Youth League, McKidd McKennan put up some good numbers in April and earned the NR Batter of the Month award.

He was one of Needham's offensive leaders with a .415 average in 23 games. He also racked up 15 home runs, 29 RBIs, and 27 runs scored.

So far this season, McKennan has hit .326 with 20 home runs, 39 RBIs and scored 36 times.

SR Hitter - Black Helmet Fruegaarten has a lot going for him. The Provincetown second baseman just broke into the majors this year and now the South Region has just picked him as its top hitter for April.

In 24 games last month this outstanding rookie batted .478 with 13 home runs, 28 RBIs and 19 runs scored.

To date, Fruegaarten has collected 61 hits for a .401 average. He has posted 15 home runs, scored 31 runs and driven in 32 runs.

NR Pitcher - When the Launchers skipper wrote Gillette on the lineup card, it was a bad omen for the opposition. Outing after outing in April he took command and usually got the win.

He dominated with a 5-0 mark and 2.38 ERA in 7 starts. The gifted Launchers star pitched 41.2 innings, fanned 47 and held opposing teams to a .199 average.

For his excellent mound work Gillette was named the NR Pitcher of the Month by the baseball writers.

To date this year, Gillette has compiled a 7-3 mark with a 3.03 ERA in 12 starts.

SR Pitcher - The elite pitcher this past month in the South Region was Meribrand Docybuck of the Provincetown Land Pirates. He stood head and shoulders above the rest, finishing April with an extraordinary 5-1 record and a 1.17 ERA.

The Land Pirates star hurler made 6 starts and surrendered 32 hits in 46 innings. He struck out 69 and walked 11.

In 11 starts this season, Docybuck has registered a 6-3 record and a 2.88 ERA.

Nuka News Update

Reporting on the NWL, APL, NWLR, and BBL Leagues

by Evan Guy

1 May 2311

Victory, Orange Expected to Play for Nuka Series

The first day of the 2311 season is here, and the Victory Cave Crickets are picked to defeat the Orange Tourists in the 13th Nuka Series.

The Cave Crickets won the past two Nuka Series, including a 4-2 series victory over the Dark Bloodworms in 2310. It was their fourth Nuka World League title. However, Victory is 0-4 in the Season Pass Association Series. They were swept in four games last season by National Park of the Vim! League.

Orange will be chasing just its second championship. The Tourists defeated Quantum, 4-1, in the 2308 Nuka Series to win their first. Like Victory, the Tourists fell in the SPA Series, losing to Grand Hotel, 4-3.

The Wild Gatorclaws are the only other team realistically expected to contend for the title. The Gatorclaws have never appeared in the Nuka Series and have finished above .500 only twice: 2300 and 2301 when they went 43-41 each season.

This season, there is some excitement, including the prospects of second-year SS Bubba Shrimp. In his rookie season in 2310, Shrimp batted .367 with 10 home runs and 31 RBI. Shrimp came to the Commonwealth from a place in the Southern part of the former United States. He claimed he played in a large baseball league there. Wild signed him last June after a tryout.

The top hitter in the league is a rookie pick in Victory's 3B Wizard of Oz Smith, a free agent signee in the offseason who has impressed scouts from the CBO. Assuming he is not scooped up by a CBO team, he is predicted to bat .426 in the 2311 season. Other contenders are 2B Yorkie Tallsky of Orange, RF Doman Northsea of Orange, and Shrimp.

The top pitcher is expected to be the Cave Crickets' SP Melvin Teacup. Others expected to compete are SP Shady Sand of Quartz, SP Cameron Biehler of Quantum, and SP Kory DiLeva of Grape.

NWL's Minor and Boys League Outlooks

2B Yorkie Tallsky of Orange is considered the #1 overall prospect, but he is expected to be the Opening Day starter for the Tourists.

Here are the top ten minor league prospects in the NWL based on opening day rosters--the number indicates their overall prospect ranking with players playing in the NWL to open the season removed:

Dalton Farm and Grand Hotel Expected to Win 50

While the National Park Gulpers are still celebrating their 2310 Vim! Series and Season Pass Association Series victories, the 2311 Vim! League season looks to be something different.

Predictions are in, and the Dalton Farm Fog Crawlers are expected to be the slight favorites over the Grand Hotel Atoms in what looks to be a tight Vim! League season. The Gulpers are expected to drop to last place in the league at 39-51.

Gunn holds the single-season home run record with 40 in 2309. Other top hitter candidates are 1B Young Hee Cyuleez of Cranberry Island, 2B Bobba Fette of the Hermit Crabs, and C Chris Dominoes of Echo Lake.

SP Jason Woods of Echo Lake is expected to win his third-straight Vim! Top Arm Award and fifth overall. Other competitors are SP Phil Cecil of the Fog Crawlers, SP Justin Wentworth of Dalton Farm, and SP Wearya Going of Acadia.

Going to say, I like the new blue color scheme too. This is a subtle shade difference, right, did you mention it and I miss it?

I'm guessing that's an OOTP 25 feature. I didn't change colors of any schemes, and don't even know where to look to do that. I know that I use OOTP Dark for the skin because I find it easier on my eyes to look at OOTP for a long time.

Yeah, must be. I thought maybe it would be OOTP 25, but it looks different than my 25, but I use default.

BNN Report

News from the CBO, Minors, BCAC, and CYL

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

8 May 2311

CBO Analysis

One month into the 2311 season, and the CBO has some good early league battles. No league leader has more than a two-game lead, meaning that there is a lot more excitement to come. Nordhagen Beach and FHE sit atop their associations, and 14 teams overall have a winning record.

Here are the current team power rankings for Commonwealth Baseball Organization:

Teams (Total Points, Tendency):
1) Nordhagen Beach Party Boys (129.6, +)
2) FHE Yao Guai (126.6, -)
3) Starlight Killers (121.7, o)
4) Roxbury Rad Sox (120.7, o)
5) Nahant Celtics (118.7, o)
6) University Point Deathclaws (115.8, +)
7) Salem Witch Hats (109.8, ++)
8) Fort Hagen Silver Shroud (108.8, +)
9) Lexington Synths (100.8, --)
10) Spectacle Island Reapers (99.9, ++)
11) Atom Cats (95.9, +)
12) Oberland T-51s (95.9, --)
13) Quincy Gunners (95.9, -)
14) Bunker Hill 75ers (94.9, --)
15) Egret Ninjas (91.0, o)
16) Sunshine Tidings Chemists (90.1, ++)
17) The Slog Ghouls (87.0, ++)
18) Vault 81 Dwellers (84.1, -)
19) Cambridge Coursers (83.1, -)
20) Easy Town Assaultrons (77.2, o)
21) Jamaica Plain Red Rockets (73.2, ++)
22) Diamond City Swatters (72.2, o)
23) Goodneighbor Hancocks (66.2, ++)
24) County Crossing Bloodbugs (63.3, o)
25) Southie Brews (61.3, -)
26) Malden Grognaks (60.2, --)
27) Concord Radstags (54.3, --)
28) Glowing Sea Radscorpions (21.7, o)

Brotherhood League

Three teams are currently above .500, with the Party Boys atop the BL with a tie for the CBO's top record. Nahant is just one game back and Salem is down by three. County Crossing is currently in last place and tied for the second-worst record in the CBO.

The Bloodbugs' major problem has been pitching, where they are 14th in runs allowed (163), 14th in Starters ERA (6.23), and 11th in Bullpen ERA (5.63). The Bugs are allowing 6.27 runs per game, something that makes winning tough. The ace, College Luckyman (3-1, 3.77), has been the only pitcher pulling his weight, while Gavin Eviritts (1-5, 7.85), Bobby Carvajal (2-4, 6.38), and Whip Lashley (1-2, 8.31) are bleeding runs.

Institute League

Starlight has jumped out of the gates as the leader, with Fort Hagen and Lexington two games back. Bunker Hill is just three back. While Sunshine Tidings has struggled, they are currently on a five-game winning streak.

The Chemists have not been successful on offense (tied for 10th with 130 runs scored) or defense (tied for 9th with 137 runs allowed). One big struggle in scoring runs has been the inability to get runners on base with the 12th batting average (.251) and 13th OBP (.322) despite being 1st in home runs (52). One sign of that is 3B Ross Merchantman (.198/7/15). LF Family Sam Partridge (.253/10/21) is third in batting average. CF Hickory Dockery (.341/5/15) and SS Lernz Tentsleep (.284/9/21) have been the best hitters.

Minutemen League

University Point has a two-game lead with Atom, Spectacle Island, and Quincy all two games back. Jamaica Plain, Goodneighbor, and Southie are all several games below .500.

The Gunners got off to a slow start, got hot, and then have now lost three straight. Their offense has kept them in games, currently 4th in runs scored (152). Six players are all batting well above .300: LF Bob Bloodbug (.381/0/3), CF McGrew Gillins (.356/5/18), 2B Shirt Fowler (.352/1/13), 3B Ben Pettinato (.341/6/24), SS Pipewrench Mathis (.340/4/11), and RF Baywatch Fischler (.333/4/17).

Railroad League

FHE is still a surprise team atop the SCA with Roxbury just a game behind. Oberland is the only other team above .500, though Egret is .500 and Vault 81 is right behind them.

The Yao Guai are all offense, 2nd in runs scored (165) with only 8th in runs allowed (137). Last season's Red Rocket Rookie Award winner, LF Makin Jobear (.315/9/24), and 3B Dathomirian Zabrak (.384/6/16) have been leading the team with additional support from 1B Innis Sark (.295/6/21) and SS Hose Wallcrawler (.318/4/14).

CBO Standings

CBO Players of the Week

May 1 - It was some kind of week for Smiling Jack Moff of the Lexington Synths. First he hits the heck out of the ball, ripping it at a .600 clip and the next thing you know, he is voted the Player of the Week in the North Charles Association. Last week Moff went 12-for-20, chalked up 2 home runs and 6 RBIs and scored 6 runs. Not a bad week's work at all.

To date Moff has chalked up a .329 average with 3 home runs, driven in 8 runs and scored 15 times.

Dathomirian Zabrak has the tools to stick in this league for many years. The 23-year-old third baseman of the FHE Yao Guai had a hot bat in the South Charles Association over the past seven days and won the Player of the Week honors.

Zabrak batted .464 with 13 hits in 28 at-bats, 3 home runs and 7 RBIs.

This year, Zabrak has 4 home runs and a .395 batting average.

May 8 - It's always a thrill for fans of the team and students of the game alike when a superstar in the making shows what he's got. Grandson Quarles, the Nahant Celtics 24-year-old center fielder, put himself in the spotlight last week making him the clear-cut choice for North Charles Association Player of the Week honors.

He ripped 14 hits in 19 at-bats, compiling a .737 average with 1 home run and 9 RBIs.

At present, Quarles is batting .374 and has collected 2 home runs, 21 RBIs, .442 OBP and scored 13 runs.

Watch Estheroots has the tools to stick in this league for many years. The 21-year-old center fielder of the FHE Yao Guai had a hot bat in the South Charles Association over the past seven days and won the Player of the Week honors.

Estheroots batted .483 with 14 hits in 29 at-bats, 1 home run and 5 RBIs.

This year, Estheroots has hit at a .315 pace and produced 9 RBIs, 1 home run and scored 15 runs.

BNN Report

News from the CBO, Minors, BCAC, and CYL

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

22 May 2311

CBO Analysis

As we have now crossed the quarter mark of the season, we are now starting to see which teams have been consistently good. It gives us an idea of where teams may stand, assuming serious injuries (again, University Point?) does not derail their championship contention. If the playoffs were to start today, these would be the seedings:

NCA
1. Nordhagen Beach
2. Starlight
T3. Nahant
T3. Fort Hagen
5. Lexington
6. Bunker Hill (2-0 ve Salem)

SCA
1. FHE
2. Atom
3. Roxbury
T4. University Point
T4. Egret
6. Quincy

Here are the current team power rankings for Commonwealth Baseball Organization:

Teams (Total Points, Tendency):
1) Nordhagen Beach Party Boys (131.2, +)
2) FHE Yao Guai (128.2, o)
3) Roxbury Rad Sox (123.4, +)
4) Starlight Killers (114.7, +)
5) Atom Cats (110.9, o)
6) Egret Ninjas (107.2, +)
7) Nahant Celtics (101.5, ++)
8) University Point Deathclaws (101.2, --)
9) Quincy Gunners (98.7, ++)
10) Lexington Synths (95.7, -)
11) Fort Hagen Silver Shroud (94.5, --)
12) Sunshine Tidings Chemists (93.3, ++)
13) Bunker Hill 75ers (91.0, +)
14) Goodneighbor Hancocks (88.3, ++)
15) Oberland T-51s (87.0, --)
16) Vault 81 Dwellers (87.0, --)
17) Concord Radstags (85.5, ++)
18) Malden Grognaks (85.3, -)
19) Salem Witch Hats (85.0, --)
20) The Slog Ghouls (84.3, o)
21) Spectacle Island Reapers (78.5, -)
22) Easy Town Assaultrons (76.5, --)
23) Cambridge Coursers (75.5, --)
24) County Crossing Bloodbugs (73.1, +)
25) Jamaica Plain Red Rockets (72.8, -)
26) Diamond City Swatters (68.1, --)
27) Southie Brews (50.8, o)
28) Glowing Sea Radscorpions (34.9, o)

Brotherhood League

Nordhagen Beach has become the first team to start t pull away somewhat in their league after they have gone 7-3 in their last 10 while Nahant, Salem, and The Slog all went 4-6. County Crossing has still not been able to climb out of the pits of the BL and only have a better record than Southie (12-26) and Glowing Sea (8-30).

The Ghouls have been hard to figure out. They seem as though they should be right in the BL battle with the Party Boys based on talent. However, they are 18-20 and currently rank 8th in runs scored (197) and runs allowed (205). The top of the lineup is steady in SS Gavin Deux-Gas (.308/7/23/12 SB), LF Boots Yellowhair (.346/5/20), and RF Cypher Raige (.345/14/31). 1B Kilometers Davis (.255/6/21) has the lowest batting average in the lineup, which shows that The Slog can hit. CF Blii Lazarus (.282/3/15/21 SB) is also on pace to set the CBO stolen bases record in a season. Top pitchers Tiger Fanne (4-5, 3.02) and Flirt Perez (5-3, 3.11) are pitching well but not getting wins to reflect the quality of their pitching.

Institute League

With a three-game lead, Starlight has the second-largest difference in league leaders. Fort Hagen had been playing well like they were predicted in the preseason to do, but they are currently on a three-game losing streak. Every team in the league is currently considered to be in contention with Cambridge and Concord tied for 6th at 17-21. Sunshine Tidings has been hot of late, winning their last six, but still below .500.

The Killers have been consistent throughout the season, leading us early on to believe that they can hold off the Shroud. Starlight is 4th in runs scored (211) and 2nd in runs allowed (170). If we had advice for first-year manager Josh Goldsby, formerly of the NWL's Wild Gatorclaws, it would be to tweak the lineup to maximize run production. Currently, the 4 hitter is C Biter Trout (.268/0/18) while SS Tib Shorthop (.250/7/26) is batting 8th. With Trout hitting below his career average, we would recommend moving 1B Oren Gep (.259/9/28) into the 4 hole from the 5 hole, moving Shorthop to 5th, and then Trout to 6th. We will say that if some of the good hitters break out of their slumps, the Killers could see themselves as the NCA's top offense.

Minutemen League

Atom, where did you come from? The Cats were super hot, winning seven straight, including a three-game sweep of now second-place University Point, before dropping their last two at Quincy. Speaking of the Deathclaws, once again they have lost one of their powerhouses after they learned star CF Aesed Hayjen (.385/3/29) will be out for the season after hitting a radstag in his Corvega. Atom, University Point, and Quincy are the only three teams currently above .500.

For the Cats, their hot streak has made us look more closely at them as a contender, something they have not experienced since 2305 when they made their last playoff appearance. Atom has never won the Minutemen League but has appeared in one Sole Survivor Series. Here in 2311, the Cats are tied for 3rd with 221 runs scored and tied for 8th with 195 runs allowed. 3B Shane Stabb (.331/9/28) is still playing at a high level. In fact, the first six batters in Atom's lineup are all above .300 in hitting: 2B Yoink Yukon (.381/2/16), SS Root Beer (.314/4/21), Stabb, C Nu York (.342/5/23), RF Actually Aucoin (.343/5/23), and 1B Joe Brocflower (.354/4/22). The team is 1st in batting average (.306), OPS (.852), and wOBA (.374).

Railroad League

This league has had the best 1-2 punch so far this season with FHE and Roxbury. The Yao Guai are again tied with the Boys for the CBO's top record, while the Rad Sox linger just one game back. Egret is the only other team above .500, but we are not going to count out Oberland and Vault 81.

The Sox have shifted from their old pitching first team to a strong hitting team. They are 2nd in runs scored (230) and 7th in runs allowed (189). The only player struggling in the starting lineup has been 1B Matt Stickhouse (.200/2/7) which has led to LF/1B Sum Downie (.258/10/23) getting starts in his stead. As usual, some of the old guard has been hitting well to carry the team, including C Ayag Mour (.327/7/28), 3B Donn Mattingley (.320/8/28), and CF Ben Pawlak (.290/8/26).

CBO Standings

CBO Players of the Week

May 15 - It's always a thrill for fans of the team and students of the game alike when a superstar in the making shows what he's got. Plain Morris, the The Slog Ghouls 24-year-old third baseman, put himself in the spotlight last week making him the clear-cut choice for North Charles Association Player of the Week honors.

He ripped 11 hits in 23 at-bats, compiling a .478 average with 2 home runs and 5 RBIs.

This year, Morris is batting .282 with 33 hits, 6 home runs, 19 RBIs, 12 walks, .349 OBP and has scored 20 runs.

It was an extraordinary week for Chris Hirshfield of the University Point Deathclaws. Tough start for the Red Rockets. And Glowing Sea. But some of the other expansion teams aren't doing too bad! Let's see if they can keep it up!

Party Boys on top too. I know they traded Biter Trout in the offseason. Is there a solid replacement catcher?

Nordhagen Beach went with their 6th-round pick in the 2306 Draft, Clownie Blammo, to replace Trout. Trout was actually a rolled trade of "starter for prospects." Blammo is 22 and a much better defensive catcher than hitter. Still, with the Boys, he is not bad as a hitter, just not Trout. He's hitting .260/6/24 batting 6th in the lineup.

The Party Boys got LF Boost Widdison 45/56, SP Dixie Williams 20/51, and 3B Dylan Swann 30/49 out of the deal. To help the impact of giving up an 80/80 Trout, the Boys sent a 10th and 12th pick in the 2311 Draft to Starlight for their 3rd pick.

The Boys do have a few of their aging players dropping in ratings, but not necessarily performance. RF Jonathan Angelou would not even be starting except his replacement is out for the season with an injury. Angelou is still batting .305/11/34 from the 7 spot and leads the team in homers.

Thanks! I kind of had an thought it could be a role, and man, what a name! Clownie Balmmo! I'd trade a star to get him in the lineup hahaha

Does seem to be a decent enough deal. Hope it sets up a Party Boys/Killers matchup in the playoffs. That to get into the Sole Survivor Series would be epic!

Based on: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0285460/

I also have a player in the universe named Chip N. Pfish. He is an OK 1B for the Quantum Nukalurks.

That's another fun name I saw! I just thought it was a regular old Fish and Chips pun. It's like I said in the past, the references you use for the names are truly top notch!
