I seem to recall a nice set of TV Azcues from 1963, but here is Joe in the 1962 colors (in Chicago, so perhaps a Brace?), as posted by bearman14 in 2013.

Charlie Cuellar 1950 UIN

Ebay seller Crackerjack Babseball Cards has an immense Brace collection for sale and many rare players. I had never seen Cuellar pictured with the White Sox before.

Dave Tyriver 1962

An excellent upgrade for the Facepack, Tyriver also comes from Ebay seller Crackerjack Baseball Cards Brace collection.

I had not seen Kurtz in color before. This comes from Crackerjack Baseball Cards on Ebay.

Preston Hanna 1975

I haven't seen much of Hanna from his final few months in Oakland in 1982, bar the tiny pics on his 1983 Topps card, but I like this offering from Larry Fritsch Cards on eBay:

Name: 1982 Preston Hanna OAK.jpeg
Views: 518
Size: 339.6 KB

(a few minor tweaks, as I am wont to do, because I wont to.)

Joe H. Coleman 1965

Again from Fritsch, here's the full version of the image that Bobb49 provided, back in 2012:

Name: Joe H. Coleman 1979 ST.jpeg
Views: 499
Size: 315.6 KB

(Once more with tweaking, as you'd expect.)

Joe didn't sign until April 1, but he must have been an NRI in spring training, as that is clearly not Candlestick.

Terry Harper 1980??

Okay, I'll bite: what would Harper be doing playing for the A's in Spring Training 1982, as Larry Fritsch Cards claims this is?

It certainly looks like Harper, but I can't find any record of his being drafted/loaned/whatever to Oakland for the spring, before resuming his Braves career. Has Billy Martin been kidnapping players or something?

(usual editing fun on my part)

Looks like Wayne Gross maybe? It is DEFINITELY not Terry Harper. We're missing an image for Brian Harper with the A's from 1987, but this looks like an image captured earlier in the decade.

Lol, nice tan, Wayne! I thought he might be a bit pale for Terry, but given that it was black and white with shadows, I wasn't about to start parsing the proper degrees of melanin.

I mean, even Billy Paul thought he'd get in trouble for that. (Great song, though.)

Here's the full version of that Brace. Hadn't gotten it ready to post, moved it up in the "cue"... I think there's a Joe Coleman/Giants too - have to go through the pile again.

Tracking him over the next few months in the St. Louis papers, you learn he was from Collinsville, IL with battery-mate Otto Von der Broeck. He played in a few games with the Browns in preseason, and was released on April 12, 1890.

On April 20, 1890, the Post-Dispatch notes that "Kane, an East St. Louis catcher" will be given a trial. This was Jerry Kane. On April 25, Kane was described as "a cousin of Billy Kane, recently released by the Browns" in the St. Louis Globe Democrat. A few days after that (April 30), the Globe-Democrat reported that Otto Van der Broeck and Billy Kane were negotiating with Quincy. Both subsequently showed up in the box scores for Quincy in 1890. Baseball-Reference has Jerry Kane with Quincy, but he was with the Browns at the same time as the Kane playing with Quincy.

So the image from the New York Clipper may in fact be Billy Kane, not Jerry Kane.
Hi! Thanks for posting! Not sure I'm responding properly but you are correct. That is not Jerry Kane from East St Louis, who was briefly a catcher for the Browns. The Jerry Kane who played for the Browns was my great grandfather. The family has many pictures of him, and the one shown here is not him. Nor was he ever known as William. His full name was Jeremiah Joseph, but he was called Jerry or sometimes Jerre. Every now and then his name does show up online and it's always fun to see! Thank you for posting!

Thank you so much for your very welcome post. Yes your response is very appropriate and informative.

If you are able to share an image of your great grandfather I am sure it would be greatly appreciated by the baseball community. Thank you.

Here is another potential facepack upgrade option from the same source. This one is of Bob Cooney with the 1931 St. Louis Browns.

Thanks for everybody's help. Could anybody tell me if and what code number a 1974 Houston Astros' Ramon De Los Santos is? I was sure that I had it but now when I'm getting ready to do some portraits for MVP 2005, I can't find it.

Thanks!

Please post your pic of De Los Santos. It will be easier to find his code.

Chuck Hiller 1961 (in 1967 and 1968)

The Brace originals are askew, color-wise; I adjusted as best I could.

Swapped by the Giants to the Mets after Ron Hunt's shoulder got crushed by Phil Gagliano in a play near second base in May, 1965, Hiller was dealt to the Phillies straight up for Phil Linz in July, 1967, and went to the Bucs in the Rule V Draft that winter.

Chuck hit the first World Series Grand Slam by a National Leaguer (remember when the Leagues were a thing) in 1962 and then became living testament to the vagaries of pinch-hitting. Used by the Mets 50 times in 1966, he got 16 hits including a triple, a homer, 6 RBI, and with three RBI - pinch-hitting splits of .348/.400/.522. The next year his pinch-hitting average was .184. He later spent ten years as a big league coach, mostly for Whitey Herzog in Texas (1973) Kansas City (1975-1979), St. Louis (1981-1983) and a year each in San Francisco and back with the Mets.

Topps never shot him after he left New York and I still haven't seen a color image of him with Pittsburgh - that's the Pirates' publicity photo.

Mike Couchee 1983

We interrupt the Brace-fest for this six-week, eight-appearance reliever of the '83 Padres, in the glorious red-and-yellows, courtesy eBay seller The Cat's Pajamas.

It's not just one photo of this seldom-seen pitcher, it's a cache of Couchee... albeit with three nearly identical but not quite poses

Rowland Office 1972 (in 1983)

From the same seller, we boost to three the number of color images in circulation of the long-time Brave and Expo who finished up as a two-game Yankee in 1983.
