I guess I don't see the need to remove facegens from the file. I've got just short of 70k facegens in my collection, at right around 2.75 gig. That's less than a league's worth of stadiums

Hi Lans,
First, thank you for all your effort and energy in this area of the game! I personally prefer your FaceGen Pack over the CUF pack. So, I only download and add your fg files instead of using the CUF. If the universal pack is as bloated as it sounds, it seems more like a distraction than anything else. I would rather see you use your time and skill set making original FaceGens. Just my two cents... TM |

Bill McClellan
Bill McClellan played eight seasons in the major leagues, spread out from 1878-88. Born in Chicago, IL, he broke in with the 1878 Chicago White Stockings. He had his peak years as a hitter in 1886 and 1887 with the Brooklyn Grays, when he was the oldest regular position player on the team. In 1887, he stole 70 bases and drew 80 walks.
He played second base and shortstop, with some games at third base and in the outfield. Despite the fact that McClelland had come off a good season in 1887, Brooklyn benched McClellan midway through 1888 and gave his starting position to Jack Burdock, a 36-year-old player who had just been released by Boston for intemperance. Toward the end of the 1888 season, Brooklyn sold McClellan to the Cleveland Blues, and he finished his major league career there that year. McClellan had lost his job in Brooklyn amid a shift away from left-handed middle infielders. In the early 1880s, left-handers had not been uncommon at these positions, but they became much rarer by the end of that decade. - BRef Bullpen wiki & Wikipedia I tried to have it half like the one picture and half like the other.

LansdowneSt could you do Len Stockwell with facial hair... I have him sourced from a clean shaved picture of him but he would look less generic with his mustache. Thanks!

Len Stockwell
Len Stockwell appeared three widely spaced times in the majors, in 1879, 1884, and 1890. In 1879 he was a 19-year-old rookie, while both 1884 and 1890 were years in which there were three leagues and extra talent was needed.
Here's my go at him with a mustache. It remains a challenge to get mustaches to curl up or do a straight, horizontal bar. In doing these, AESP, I'm reminded of a quote from high school history book. In the 1880's Thomas Wolfe wrote of Garfield and his Victorian contemporaries, "Their gravely vacant and bewhiskered faces mixed, melted, swam together . . . Which had the whiskers, which the burnsides; which was which?" Someday, I'll focus on the first part of the 20th c. when all but one man (and you already had me do him) was clean-shaven!! ;p

LansdowneSt I have more facial hair fun for you... Ed Caskin
I did him but the result is very dirty around the mouth, this is one occasion when the old version would be useful (sure they updated the program but didn't bring back the old smoothing slider again), so not that great.

That was me pre-AI on some of those tough originals. Pre-photo enhancement tech too! I've already started the CUF upgrade process though, so he'll be in the pack around the All-Star Break.EDIT: But he will be in the "Lansdowne Pack" if that's cool. That's the one you download anyway, so that will spare you an overwrite risk! Off to package that one up.

May 29 Edition of the Facegen Packs now available
The new CUF (and my) packs are up and available for download.
For those that manually download, the updated links are in my signature block. If you are on Steam, go to Workshop Central, redownload and then reinstall the pack. As always, you may need to refresh a player for a change to take. As for my pack, here are the stats of where I stand. I've gone through 14.74% of the total MLB'ers. For the players 1970 forward, I've done 29% of them. Recently the work has been focused on current players and some recent debuts. Thanks for all the support and shoutout to AESP for getting me his 19th c. ones in an easy format to drop in.

As I do, here are some examples of the before and afters that are in the revised packs but are among the couple hundred I didn't highlight in any individual post... Of these I think Webster Rivas is my favorite.

Always happy to help... your upgrades in the previous post are amazing.
At some point I will probably rename everything with the historical id for a standalone version because the historical minor id isn't always compatible with the previous game versions... but no idea when I will since, as you know, just doing the initial FGs is a long task.

LansdowneSt could you try Henry Myers for me? I was able to get a realist AI interpretation of him but I have one problem... he kept the same angle the drawing was and I can't get a satisfying result with the picture I got. I know you can change the angle so I'm sure you could give him a visage again.
This is another player impossible to do for me if you want to give him a try too...

@LansdowneST: Do I have to redownload the 7003MB file again, or is there a file somewhere that features just the ones you added since the last upload?

Sorry, I set it up so it’s everything rather than everything “with a date modified after X”. So, it is the whole thing…

Ed Caskin
Ed Caskin (1879-86) was a weak-hitting infielder who earned his keep defensively. He played mostly shortstop, but also had 69 games at third base, 33 at catcher, and 19 at second base.
On August 21st, the National League decided to, for the first time, officially blacklist a group of players, bestowing that inauspicious honor upon Edward Sylvester “The Only” Nolan, Sargent Perry “Sadie” Houck, Lipman Emanuel “Lip” Pike, Lewis Pessano “Buttercup” Dickerson, Mike Drogan, Bill Crowley, John Fox, Lew Brown, Emil Gross, and Ed Caskin. Officially, they were being punished for “confirmed dissipation and general insubordination.” Unofficially, it was mainly because they were drunks or were playing suspiciously bad (as this was still during the era where throwing a ballgame was more lucrative than actually earning a salary playing baseball). We don’t really know specifically why Caskin got blacklisted as he was a minor player and was reinstated for the 1883 season. - affotd.com No AI on this one. Just shadow clean up and enhancement. Goodness, look at that before! Anyway, I tried to tweak that mustache area where it merged into the shadow for you, AESP.

Asa Stratton
Worcester manager Mike Dorgan had a problem. It was June 1881, three months into the National League season, and his team, the Worcester Base Ball Club, was slipping toward the bottom of the standings. To make matters worse, his star shortstop, Arthur Irwin, had just been fined $25 for poor performance and granted a temporary leave of absence to — as the Worcester Daily Spy put it — “regain his confidence, health, and former playing ability.” The team asked Brown University’s slick-fielding captain, Asa Reed Dilts, to play short while Irwin recovered, but Dilts declined, unwilling to risk his college eligibility. With few other options, Dorgan turned to an unlikely substitute: his former teammate, Asa Stratton. - SABR
The before was a fake Bickford placeholder face. Used AI to imagine him turned and facing me.

Henry Myers
Although Henry Myers played parts of three seasons in the big leagues, most of his appearances were with the Baltimore Orioles in 1882, for whom he was player-manager. Henry played shortstop for the team and also pitched a few games. - bRef Bullpen wiki
How did them O's do? "This team that [Henry] Myers had put together would prove to have the worst hitting, pitching, and fielding in the AA. They would also manage to win even fewer games at home than on the road, a remarkable feat in a league in which, until mid-July, the home team could hire anyone it wanted as umpire. After early May, they were never out of last place." - SABR The before image is from the CUF pack but it was under an outdated ID code.

LansdowneSt if you feel like it this is another one of those player who need some AI help to face the camera to create a realist FG...

Chickazoola found his picture some years ago but... even the AI I use idea of him were ridiculous.
