Nice! I guess all the photogs were there for Opening Day at the Polo Grounds, eh? If you are only going to play one game for the Braves, I suppose that was the one.

On a rather different cameo note, I'm playing a historical game and deciding whether to promote Brad Wellman. So I looked at Brad's RL stats, and discovered that he put in 3 games as a Dodger in late 1987, between San Francisco and Kansas City, where he spent most of his career. (Brad spent most of 1987 in Albuquerque.)

Does anybody have an image of Wellman as a Dodger? I searched in vain. Even that 1990 Target-issued "100th Anniversary of the Dodgers" card set, which allegedly is Every Dodger, Ever, uses a Giants image for Wellman.

Thanks in advance.

Wellman as a Dodger is one no one's seen yet, I think...

Ed Crosby, 1973 Cincinnati Reds

Hi,

Does anybody know if there were any Topps photos of Ed Crosby with the Cincinnati Reds in 1973 and the Indians in 1974? Also, John Lowenstein of the 1974 with longer hair. I have the Topps photo of Bro. Low with the Tribe that's a 3/4 long batting stance in probably Yankee Stadium in 1973 but one that's decent that looks sorta like his 1975 Topps card and in the 1974 Indians Team photo attached.

Thanks for Helping!

Hey there, if you need the source image it can be found by members. Gio - at When Topps Had B*lls" - did make a custom card with at least one of them.

Thanks for the card. Could I have the original of the photo? I wonder if this Cardinals photo would be consistent with the Indians one? He went from the Reds to the Phils in Dec. 1973, then to the Cardinals in March of 1974, and lastly to the Tribe in June 1974. If I can't find a better Indians' Crosby, I might go with the older Cardinals one of the Phils' Topps photos.

Thanks Hobbs!

The 80s are my bag and I frequently troll the net for missing players from that era. The Fritsch collection has plugged quite a few holes, but I have yet to see Wellman with the Dodgers.

Hi,

What's the Fritsch Collection? Would it have some early 70s photos like Helms & Woodward with the 1970-71 Reds for example?

Thanks,

Brad Wellman Dodgers 1987

And the words are barely out of my mouth when I find an image of Brad Wellman as a Dodger from the Albuquerque Journal of August 5th, 1987. The patch on the left shoulder identifies the uniform as L.A. and not the Albuquerque Dukes.

The Fritsch collection is a heap of old B&W photo postcards of players from the 1970s and 1980s. The collection is on ebay at https://www.ebay.com/sch/27266/i.htm...op=10&_ipg=240 . I don't know if Helms and Woodward are there but you can look.

Marty F. Barrett 1884 MISSING PLAYER

I found a nice image of Barrett playing for the local Holyoke Athletics team in the 12/27/1935 edition of the Holyoke Transcript-Telegram. The write-up gets some of the dates wrong but does mention he was a former professional ballplayer.

1974 Joe Lahoud

Hi,

Would anybody have a "Topps Photo" of a 1974 Joe Lahoud and did anybody have a "Topps Photos" identical to the his 1975 Topps card because it'd be perfect for a portrait for MVP 2005. I tried enlarging the full length one after he swung, but it just wasn't close to the camera enough.

Thanks,

BRobby05

Scott Loucks Pittsburgh Pirates 1985

Scott Loucks was born in Anchorage, Alaska, but attended high school in Hawaii. He was drafted by the Astros in 1977 out of Southeast Oklahoma State. Scott did not have much home run power, but he was a good outfielder, walked a fair amount, ran frequently, and ran fairly smart. In the Astrodome, that would be a good player. As of 1981, he ranked among the Astros' top prospects and the club was excited about what he might do once he got to Houston and into the lineup. It never really happened, though. Loucks spent four years bouncing between AAA and Houston, watching from the bench as the Astros went with veteran outfielders like Tony Scott, Omar Moreno (eccch), and Jerry Mumphrey. Loucks was dealt to Montreal after the '83 season, spent '84 in AAA, and signed with the Pirates as a free agent in March, 1985. He spent most of the year at AAA Hawaii, getting into only four games for Pittsburgh (9 PA, .286 BA, .444 OBP, .571 SLG) in what would be his last major league season. The attached newspaper image shows him in a spring training game at Bradenton in March of 1985.

Not from Topps (taken in Chicago) but reasonably similar to the 1975 card. We know this is a 1974 picture because other pics from the same photoshoot show Joe in white shoes, as the Halos wore in 1974, before switching to red for 1975.

Good enough, perhaps?

1978 George Hendrick

I think I finally found an image of Hendrick in 1978 with the Pads.

Question - do we think this is at home or away. Whites were used at home, but yellows were used both. Do we think this is a white or yellow uni?

Now that I look at it - it looks like a yellow jersey and white pants - not an official combo according to the Hall of Fame's Dressed to the Nines database.

Boston Braves camp, Macon GA, 1914. The future Miracle-makers are deciding they don't actually need Walt Tragesser (left), who played 2 games for them in 1913, but will spend this season with Birmingham of the Southern Association, or Frank Bruggy (who will go back to the Lawrence [MA] Barristers of the Northeast League for another season, and not reach the majors until the 1921 Phillies)…but for the moment, they feel like big-leaguers, getting photographed by Underwood & Underwood here.

(The "B" on the uniforms is red, according to Dressed to the Nines. Presumably it showed up a bit better against the blue road uniforms IRL than we can see on Tragesser, here.)
