Well, here are a bunch. I like the default one, which is the txt file. Just change the extension from site.txt to site.css (it won't let you upload a css file). My personal two favorite are the site.txt and the Baseball Reference one. But whichever you like, these are just some other options.

Also, not to rock the boat, but why did you use Cato 6.1.2 instead of 6.1.4?

Tigers COACHING CHANGE part 3
With my best Vince McMahon impersonation, "Killbreath..... YOU'RRRRE FIIIRRRRED!!!!!!!" OK, maybe not that enthusiastic but I'm officially giving Killbreath his walking papers. I really feel terrible that I have to do this but Killbreath has clearly lost the ability to rally the troops. Recently acquired Pitching Coach Bob Guilderson will manage the rotation while new hitting coach Kid Fite will manage the lineup. This is only temporary until we can name Killbreath's replacement. I definitely hope to have a new manager & bench coach in place before the next draft and spring training.

Other than Bourbon, Jr (11-15 3.05ERA) the Allen clan is not developing well and Tequila at 37 has been reduced to part time player with his erosion in skills

Its nice to see Ostrander is pitching fairly well in his rookie year: 3.96 ERA and the lowest WHIP of any Brooklyn starter.
Hopefully he didn't get into too many locker room scraps with my other ancestor Willie Young.

I keep meaning to apologize for the poor treatment Willie Young got in Pittsburgh, even though I wasn't running the team at the time. It's really no wonder we haven't won a pennant in 40 years.

It was very painful to watch his career and nearly as sad to see his "big" little brother waste away on my team. But no need for apologies as it seems like TWB has followed real life much too realistically for the Youngs. Way too many underachievers for sure.

How about that Clarence Schnaubert?? When I slotted him in as my 4th starter this year, I had no idea that he would even come close to 20 wins. Can you say Rookie of the Year?

I say "Shnaw-bert"... and I always call him Nippy
![]() He may be the biggest surprise of the year for me. I find it hard to believe he can maintain anything like that long term though. May be a 1-year wonder. |

WEB PAGES UPDATED...
August 1951 The A's went 16-13 in August, losing only a half-game to the Red Sox. However, Detroit went 20-10 to move into a 2nd place tie with Boston. After manager Arden Killbreath was fired on August 15th, the team immediately responded by winning 7 consecutive games and 13 of their final 16 this month. But it could be too little, too late as the A's have all but sewn up their first pennant since 1932. Killbreath was the longest tenured manager in the big leagues. His eight seasons doubled the next longest tenured AL managers, who have been with their teams for 4. In the NL, the Cardinals briefly moved a game ahead of New York in mid-August, but the Giants quickly took back their lead. The two teams face off twice over the final month of the season, once from Sept 9-11 and again over the final 3 games of the season (Sept 23-25). Detroit's Ray Kress has quietly positioned himself for a chance at an unprescedented 2nd consecutive Triple Crown. He leads the batting race by .005 points over Philly's Bud Ayers, and he leads the homerun race by 7. But he trails Boston's Bobby Johnson by 2 in the RBI department. Interestingly enough, brothers Morris and Ben Lutske are 3rd in their respective league's batting races. Morris, a career .344 hitter, is actually having an "off" year by hitting .318, while brother Ben, a .278 lifetime hitter, is having a career year in Chicago, hitting .344 with 16 homeruns. In The News Aug 1: Congressman Celler denied the accusation that his committee wants a 3rd major league. He stated that some changes with regard to territorial rights will have to be made. Aug 6: Lame duck Commissioner Happy Chandler testified in front of the Senate committee, urging that baseball expand out of its eastern area. He added that some owners see sport only as big business. Aug 7: Senator Edwin C. Johnson backed the reserve clause in his testimony, citing his bill to exempt baseball from antitrust legislation. Aug 7: Behind the fantastic 3-hit pitching of George Kauffman, the Indians defeated the White Sox 2–0 in front of a Ladies Night crowd of 21,815. The only runs of the game came on a 2-run double by Cleveland SS Victor Estevez with 2 outs in the 6th inning off Gene Masarech. Aug 13: At Ebbets Field, the Dodgers offered up one of the odder promotions in "Music Depreciation Night," and every fan with a musical instrument was admitted free. 2,426 fans took advantage of the offer, including one with a piano. The Dodgers had a motive in countering the local musicians' union which wanted to silence the non-union Sym-Phoney. Giants starter Tommy Light and Brooklyn's Merl Welsh locked up in a pitchers' duel that saw New York lead 2-1 after 8 innings. That lasted until New York's Ervin Thompson led off the 9th with a solo homerun. Four batters later, pinch hitter Carlos Hulse hit a 2-run shot with 2 outs. Welsh went on to allow 2 more runs off 3 singles and a walk before being lifted for a reliever as Brooklyn fell 7-1. Aug 21: Baseball owners elected General "Rosey" O'Donnell as the new baseball commissioner, but President Truman overruled the decision. Truman said that O'Donnell was needed in his present job as Air Force commanding general of bombing in Korea. Aug 26: In another of Bill Veeck's legendary PR stunts, "Fans Managers' Night," the Browns fell to the Yankees 3-0. The Browns coaches would hold up placards for the 21,710 fans in attendance, who would then vote "yes" or "no" on the options given them. Manager Moose Mosley sat in a box behind the dugout with two fans who monitored the voting. Adding to the festivities was Max Patkin, the clown prince of baseball, who coached at 1B for several innings. 32-year-old Mort Hibsch, recently promoted after spending the past 2 2/3 seasons in Triple-A, was voted in as the starting centerfielder in place of Jessie Witt. He went 0-for-1 with 2 walks but made a fantastic defensive play with a runner on in the 8th inning. New York scored a run in the 7th on a solo homerun from Pip Seneca, and they added 2 more runs on a pinch hit 2-run homer by Rich Curtis in the 9th. When the stunt was announced back on August 15th, Yankees manager Ervin Skjerly bitterly denounced it as "farcical." American League-Pitcher of the Month: Chris Frays (WSH)! He had a record of 4-1 in 7 games started, with an ERA of 1.40 and 2 shutouts. American League-Batter of the Month: Bobby Johnson (BOS)! He batted .402 in 92 AB, with 8 homers and 25 RBI. National League-Pitcher of the Month: Walter Pond (NYG)! He had a record of 7-0 in 7 games started, with an ERA of 1.36 and 2 shutouts. National League-Batter of the Month: Ted McMurray (CIN)! He batted .386 in 101 AB, with 8 homers and 26 RBI. Code:

I would think Chaucer would be the leading candidate for the NL BOTY, but I could be wrong.
If he did win, it would the silver lining in a very disappointing year for the Brave Faithful. |

> I would think Chaucer would be the
> leading candidate for the NL BOTY, > but I could be wrong. Chaucer or Wing. I don't know how the more recent adjustments in OOTP to awards has impacted these type comps. Chaucer has him lapped in BA and OBP, is 6th in SLG, #3 in OPS, #1 in RC and RC/27, #1 in H and R and #3 in SB. Chaucer of course has him lapped in HR and RBI, and is 1-1 in HR & RBI, and has the #1 OPS. Arrendale won the BOY in 1949 when Kress had him in *everything* of note except for BA. Neither player was on the championship team, so there wasn't a bump there. Between Chaucer and Wing, Real Life voters would go for Wing. Chaucer already has one. The team isn't in contention. Wing has been one of the best hitters in the NL the last four years, but hasn't won the award. His team won it last year, and are in contention now. Howard, Dunkel, Chaucer, Rauch... seems like each of the top post war hitters in the NL is getting one (Lonny went to the other league to get his). I would expect Groaning to get one in the next couple of years. Of course I expect Chaucer to get another one or two or more at some point as well. John |

In the AL, how about Bobby Johnson? Kress should win it, but Bobby is certainly doing his best to keep him from getting another Triple Crown (although Boston fans refuse to acknowledge it. Lutske should have been the batting champ
)
