I have the 1962 Mets' spring roster, but it does not include the NRI's. I'd prefer not to list the entire roster, if you really don't need the names of the players who were on the spring roster and also played with the Mets during the regular 1962 season. Would you specify exactly what you're looking for?

62 Mets

Johnny Antonelli and Billy Loes were NOT in Spring Training with the '62 Mets. Antonelli retired after the holidays and Loes decided not to join them and was returned to the Giants, and then released/retired.

1962 Mets Spring Training and Topps Vault

Topps did NOT shoot the Mets in Spring Training 1962, but did get them several times at the Polo Grounds. They captured some short-terms like Solly Drake, Herb Moford, Bobby Gene Smith, Harry Chili. They missed the likes of Sherman Jones, Gus Bell, Joe Ginsberg.

I've attached the Street & Smith 1962 Annual Mets' roster. It's accurate except as mentioned earlier Billy Loes did NOT attend.

Non-Rosters:

Pitchers:
APPLE, Ray
DEEM, Paul
DONNELLY, Ed*
HOY, Marc
KILLEEN, Evans*
ROBINSON, Bill

Catchers
BURNETTE, Jim (Shown below)
WHALEN, Bill

Infielders
FITZPATRICK, Bruce
HAMILT, Dawes (given first name: Marshall; often listed as a pitcher; he played 3B)
KANEHL, Rod

* previous major league experience

Thank you, Merkle, for the additional info about the 1962 spring roster and non-roster invitees. My source for the spring roster was the April 1962 issue of Baseball Digest. Different publications can come up with different spring roster listings, depending upon their publication dates. And of course it's true, as Merkle points out, that just because a player's name appeared on the spring roster, it does not necessarily indicate that he showed up in the spring training camp.

It's Nonsense

I don't know where you got it, but never go there again.

Blair, Hardin, Powell, and Smith were minor leaguers signed by the Mets IN 1962. Powell made the majors in 1963, Hardin was still in their farm system in 1965; Smith, in 1969.

There were several misspellings ("Lepico" is Lepcio; "Patrick" is Fitzpatrick; "Drabowski" is Drabowsky). Bruce, Drabowsky, Jones and Shantz were never in the Mets' organization and Elliot was not purchased from the Pirates until 1964.Warwick was a non-roster invitee to the Mets' 1967 camp.

I don't know what Anderson is doing there (presumably somebody meant CRAIG Anderson, who pitched for the '62 Mets). Walls was selected in the expansion draft and traded to the Dodgers for Charlie Neal.

This sounds like somebody was trying to remember a list from memory and did it really, really badly.

Thank you as always for the invaluable information!

IIRC you once wrote that Topps shot Vinegar Bend Mizell as a Met in 62. That so? And any idea if they got Larry Foss or Clem Labine?

Topps Vault

To answer the simple question: Topps shot Mizell, did not shoot Labine nor Foss. Brace got Foss in Chicago over the last weekend of the '62 season

Bad news on the bigger front: It was confirmed for me recently that the new Topps owners have shut down the "Topps Vault" operation. I don't know what happened to the other goodies but the unsold unused negatives are now in storage "somewhere."
