1929 All-Star Game results...

July 16th, 1929, Wrigley Field, Chicago, Illinois

Davis Dominates in 13-3 Win over AL All-Stars
Spud Davis cemented his status as one of the best in the game with his performance tonight.
"It's an honor to even be invited to the game. To be rewarded as the MVP of the game is extra special," the NL star said after his great showing. "Just playing on the same diamond as some of these guys is a pure treat."
In the game itself, Spud Davis certainly wasn't the only great player out there, but he did enough in the NL's 13-3 win over the AL All-Stars.

All-Star Game MVP: C Spud Davis (Brooklyn Robins)

1929 World Series results

1929 World Series: Washington Senators vs. Boston Braves

Results

Game 1, October 12th, 1929, Braves Field, Boston
Road Win Lifts Washington to 1-0 Lead in WS
When the games really matter, the Washington Senators put on their best show, beating the Boston Braves by a final score of 7-5. Cliff Heathcote went 2-4 with 2 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBIs and scoring once. Washington now leads Boston 1-0 in the best-of-7 affair.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Bing Miller? The former first round draft pick Miller stroked a 2-run double in the top of the tenth inning to put Washington up, 7-5. For the game, he was 3 for 6, including 1 double and 2 singles.
"We're one game closer to our goal," Washington manager Mike Hickey said later. "It isn't any more complicated than that."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Braves Field in Boston.
Senators lead 1-0

Game 2, October 13th, 1929, Braves Field, Boston
Raucous Braves Field Crowd Propels Braves to 5-2 Victory; Series Tied at 1
Behind a bravura effort from starter Red Ruffing, the Boston Braves topped the Washington Senators by the score of 5-2 and got their first win in the 1929 World Series. Ruffing threw 9.0 innings of 7-hit ball for the Braves. The win moves Boston into a 1-1 tie with Washington.
Ruffing allowed 2 runs over 9 innings. He also racked up 7 strikeouts.
"Red was throwing free and easy," said Boston manager Bill Sullivan.
Game 3 is scheduled for Tuesday at Griffith Stadium in Washington.
Series tied at 1-1

Game 3, October 15th, 1929, Griffith Stadium, Washington, D.C.
Washington Wins at Home to Take 2-1 Lead in WS
The Washington Senators hold an early advantage in the World Series, thanks to the "old man" of the franchise, Jack Scott.
Scott, 37, was in control at Griffith Stadium, leading the Senators to victory, 7-1, over the Boston Braves in Game 3. Scott threw 6.0 innings of shutout ball. Washington now holds a 2-1 edge in the best-of-7 series.
In the bottom of the third, Washington shortstop Travis Jackson had a productive at-bat. With runners on 1st and 3rd and no one out, Jackson stroked a run-scoring double to left-center. It made the score 1-0, Washington. For the game, he went 1-4 with a double.
"We lost," Boston manager Bill Sullivan said later. "We'll deal with it. The series isn't over."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Griffith Stadium in Washington.
Senators lead 2-1

Game 4, October 16th, 1929, Griffith Stadium, Washington, D.C.
Senators Hammered by Bissonette, Drop Game 4 to Braves
Boston first baseman Del Bissonette was the difference-maker for the Braves in what turned into a shootout with the Washington Senators. Bissonette earned accolades after going 4-for-5 in the 14-6 Braves win. With the victory, the Braves moved into a 2-2 tie in the best-of-7 series.
Ed Morgan helped his team jump on top from the get-go. His first time up in the top of the first, he hit a full count fastball from Larry Benton for a 2-run double, to give Boston a 2-0 lead.
"We were having a lot more fun that I would have expected for a playoff game," Bissonette told the Boston Chronicle.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Griffith Stadium in Washington.

Game 5, October 17th, 1929, Griffith Stadium, Washington, D.C.
Road Win Lifts Boston to 3-2 Lead in WS
With starter Earl Whitehill leading the charge, the Boston Braves defeated the Washington Senators, 5-4, in Game 5 of the World Series. The left-hander threw 9.0 innings allowing 4 runs at Griffith Stadium to help Boston take a 3-2 lead in the best-of-7 series.
Boston used the hitting of Gus Mancuso to pick up the win. The catcher clubbed a solo home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Braves on top, 4-3. For the game, Mancuso had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"There's nothing like the postseason," said Whitehill, "to ramp up the pressure."
Game 6 is scheduled for Saturday at Braves Field in Boston.
Braves lead 3-2

Game 6, October 19th, 1929, Braves Field, Boston
Senators Even With Braves After Extra-Innings Win
The Washington Senators and the Boston Braves will take the World Series to a decisive 7th game. Facing a must-win situation at Braves Field, the Senators beat the Braves, 6-4, in extra innings to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Washington left fielder Chick Hafey was 2 for 5 with a triple and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4.
Had Hafey not come through in the top of the 11th, who knows how the game would've ended? But with two down, Hafey hit a 2-run single. The Senators took the lead, 6-4, and never looked back.
"Sweet win for us, tough loss for them," said Hafey.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Braves Field in Boston.
Series tied 3-3

Game 7, October 20th, 1929, Braves Field, Boston
Boston Braves Take World Series
A celebratory mood filled the air as the Boston Braves closed out the season with a 11-8 victory over the Washington Senators at Braves Field to capture the World Series, 4-3.
Giving the Senators credit for a hard-fought series, Braves players said they believed throughout the postseason that their "destiny" was to be crowned Major League Baseball champions.
"We felt like this was our year all season long," said first baseman Del Bissonette, who was named series MVP. "It was our destiny to win it and we did."
It was the 2nd in franchise history. During the NL regular season, Boston put up a 97-57 record and finished first.
"They're the champions and they deserve it," said dejected Washington manager Mike Hickey. "We played good ball, they just played better than us."
Braves win series 4-3

World Series MVP: 1B Del Bissonette (Boston Braves)

NL pennant tiebreaker game results

October 3rd, 1930, Ebbets Field, Brooklyn

Robins 8-3 Losers to Boston
The Boston Braves took on the Brooklyn Robins at Ebbets Field.
The Boston Braves picked up a win at Ebbets Field, topping the Brooklyn Robins, 8-3. On the mound for Boston was right-hander Dazzy Vance. He played a principal role in the triumph. Vance, who leads the NL with a 1.33 WHIP, went the distance for Boston. He gave up 3 runs on 9 hits.
The Braves benefited from an error in the top of the first inning. Boston was leading 1-0 when Del Bissonette hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put Boston in front, 2-0.
Said losing manager Bill Kellogg: "We just didn't get it done tonight."
The Braves now have a record of 85-70.
Boston Braves win the NL pennant.
