We can set the players to be on the opening day roster but in the end the AI is going to move them around, so it will never be perfect. Ramirez playing in Tacoma is an AI thing.

Another couple things I thought of while writing this:
- Considering that the game launched before Opening Day with speculative rosters (please, please do this going forward. The fact that last year's game launched after Opening Day really negatively impacted my desire to play), does that mean we'll be getting an Opening Day rosters patch on Opening Day? If so, that'd be really awesome and appreciated.

And finally, Roenis Elias (also on AAA Tacoma in the current roster) is a RP in the game but he hasn't appeared out of the bullpen since he was in A-ball in 2011. He's been a starter effectively all of his career and should be a SP.

Sorry if these questions/complaints are based on misconceptions about how the game's roster system works. I'd love to learn.

I doubt we'll release the OD rosters patch on Opening Day. We can only type so fast after all, and they'll be a ton of moves to make! It'll be soon after though.

As for Elias, he's got plenty of juice to start but the ai thinks it has better starters so is simply using him as a RP. That changes over time depending on the roster makeup, ratings progression etc.

Thanks everyone. Looks like the AI has more roster powers than I realized. I sure didn't know it could set positions (SP vs. RP et.al).

Now I'm curious about one last thing though. Isn't "out-of-options" a field in the player data? Does that sort of thing not apply to the step of the process where the AI shuffles rosters?

If for example, the game started with ST then you had to cut the roster down to 25 for OD, then you'd face the same issue as the Mariners GM might with Ramirez.

Another one for the Rangers, OF Ryan Cordell is now a SS, RP Tolleson likely to start season on DL, same for CF Richardson. CF DeShields will likely make the team.

When viewing the Pittsburgh Pirates history, Stargell appears in the listing of batting leaders, but if you go to the Batting Registers and sort by various stats he doesn't appear.

For example, he is correctly listed 1st in career home runs (475) in the batting leaders page, but if you sort by HRs in the Batting Registers page Ralph Kiner shows up at the top with 301.

It does once the game begins, but not while getting the rosters from out db, into the game. At that point the game ignores options and that sort of stuff.

Minor issue and not really a roster issue per say but I've noticed in the last couple editions that Charlie Monfort is listed as the Rockies owner. While Charlie still holds a stake in ownership they've all but sent him on a permanent vacation to the bahamas. His brother Dick Monfort runs the team and controls all ownership decisions. Dick's DOB is 4/27/1954 and home is Greeley, CO.

Detroit owes Texas $30M ($5M per annum) for the years 2016-20 of the Fielder contract.

Milwaukee owes $4M in 2015 for Gallardo's contract.

Not sure if either reflected in game.

David Ortiz has two team options for $10M. One for 2016 and one for 2017. Currently in the game he only has a team option for 2016.

I have no idea how you're going to put this in the game and make it work with the AI, but it's looking increasingly like the Phillies are considering making Odubel Herrera their starting or at least frequent CF, with Revere in LF.

Herrera has never played CF as a professional. The AI thinks he should be a minor-league 2B. Thing is, the AI is probably right ...

The OOTP staff are Markus, Andreas and Matt they post on a regular basis(There are a few others, but they don't post in the public forums, often). Then there are others like Haveband, BigRod, LukasBerger and some more who work on the game but aren't OOTP employee's, but give up their time to help with rosters/schedules etc etc.
