So, I leave a meeting, check the score. 0-0 after seven and a half. Jobba didn't blow up. Good stuff.

I get home, it's 1-0, 1 out in the top of the ninth with Nathan exiting stage left leaving the bases LOADED?!?

I hate this bullpen. Truly.

I'm biased of course for the Blue Jays but it has been a terrific pitching duel.

Edit Oops well it was.

... and Krol gives up a SAC fly. 2-0

Enter Al Al. If Coke comes on I may have to take my first drink in 22 years.

An ERA of 54 in last three games. WTF?

What is going on with Nathan? He has given up 8 runs in an inning and a third.

That and the left side of our infield is playing like they are back in little league.

If Romine cannot handle routine grounders he needs to bat a whole lot better.

Did Castellanos forget there were two guys on base?

As soon as there is a close play everyone turns their attention to the replay, ignoring the fact that there is a game in progress.

Crazy Idea

I thought I'd throw this out there; it's not likely to happen, and depends heavily on what the Tigers decide to do with Sherzer:

The Rays are in last place, with no hope to claw their way out since Alex Cobb and Matt Moore are out for the season. That makes them a non-contender with the impending free agency of David Price. The Tigers may find themselves playing their way out of contention if they don't do something. One suggestion is to put Smyly back in the bullpen, dump Coke, and let Joba close. You don't want to trade Ray, he's the #5 guy next year and beyond. Is there anything left of value that we can make a deal for Price, give him the money we were going to pay Max. We rock the mega-rotation through the rest of the season, with Smyly at setup, Joba at closer, Nathan on the DL, and Coke watching from his Lay-Z-Boy.

Wow did you just scare the crap out of me. I have Cobb in my fantasy league and reading that he's out for the season...... He just came off the dl, but please don't wish him back on it

No problem. You would have laughed if you would have seen how fast I switched over to my yahoo league site when I read your post. I knew Cobb didn't pitch last night, so I was like what the heck My luck this year has been just they way though. I traded for Fielder UGH!

I am all in for any plan that includes Phil Coke in a recliner.

Verlander banged around again. Coke only coughed up one - I guess that's something to hang your hat on.

Verlander has been tough to watch. Everything looks good then - BOOM, JV turns into a right handed Coke.

This may be small comfort but the normally unreliable Blue Jays are off the charts good right now. The Red Sox may be the tonic you need. I certainly hope so.

What scares me the most are the walks.
