1932 World Series
It’s a battle of 2 teams that have never won a World Series. This is the Indians 3rd appearance. They lost as the Naps in 1912, and the Indians in 1916. The Dodgers have come so close to winning a pennant, but it never happened until this year. Both squads had horrible 1931 seasons, so this is a very improbable World Series. ![]() The Cleveland Indians are the World Series Champions for the 1st time!! |

1932-33 Offseason News and Notes
It’s a weak draft class when compared to recent years. There is no Joe DiMaggio this year. The top pick was catcher Rudy York, now a Chicago Cub. ![]() ![]() In the 33rd year of this league, it’s time I name some of the awards. To go with the names, I designed the actual awards themselves, based on the real life counterparts. They probably won’t get much use in this dynasty, but I enjoyed making them, and they are there if I need them. First up, the Ed Delahanty Memorial Baseball Award, which will be presented to the MVP of each league. It’s real life counterpart is the Kennesaw Landis Memorial Baseball Award, which was obviously termed as a tribute after he passed. So, in this dynasty, Mr. Delahanty has now passed. Ed was the greatest player of his generation, and will go down as one of the best ever. He won 7 MVP awards, something which hasn’t yet been topped. He also won MVP’s in each league. He retired as baseball’s greatest hitter, and still might be. This was an easy decision, as while baseball as seen some great players, he the man among men. It’s fitting that the first Ed Delahanty MVP award goes to Lou Gehrig, who has now won 6 MVP’s, with his old club. ![]() The Rube Waddell Award will be presented to the Most Valuable Pitcher in each league. An obvious play on the Cy Young award. Rube had the career other pitchers dream of. He is the Cy Young of this universe. He still holds 8 single season/career records, and won this honor 5 separate times. Satchel Paige is the first winner of the Rube Waddell Award. ![]() ![]() |

Well, that kind of ruins the transparent light blue background I've been using for 18 pages

1933 Regular Season
38 year old Babe Ruth has hit his 500th career home run. When his career began, the HR record was 139, by Ed Delahanty. The Babe doesn’t seem to be slowing down either. He currently leads baseball with 7 HR’s through April, and he’s hitting .344. ![]() ![]() That’s a nice little trade for the Cubs. They pick up an excellent hitter in Lloyd Waner, whose pretty much in the prime of their career. As you can see, the Cubs are terrible, so this is a massive upgrade. Rudy York is a pretty decent prospect for the Pirates to get in return. ![]() Lloyd Waner Looks like Lou Gehrig’s 6 year run as NL MVP is over. He’s had a great year, but he tore his hamstring in mid June, forcing him to the DL for 6 weeks. It’s Gehrig’s 3rd DL stint, something he’s not very familiar with. ![]() Gehrig Rogers Hornsby just recorded his 3000th career hit. That seems low for Hornsby, who, in his prime, was easily one of the greatest players ever. Injuries effected Hornsby probably more then any other player. Between 1922 and 1929, he played a full season just twice. Three times, he missed more then 100 games. He is still a career .349 hitter, and a sure fire Hall of Famer. ![]() Hornsby ![]() Cleveland lead the Senators all of September, but never lead by more than 2 or 3 games. Still, they never relinquished the lead, and will get a chance to defend their title, against the big hitting, star studded Philadelphia Phillies. ![]() ![]() |

Props to you for the design Rudy York, the slow footed, horrible fielding but slugging York, he is the reason Greenberg went to LF and hopefully the Pirates use him at 1B, because his Catching skills should be in the 40's |

1933 World Series
Jimmie Foxx has battled back and become a pretty good player. If you recall, the former 2nd overall pick in the 1923 draft, suffered a horrible decline in talent, and looked like a career AAAA player. He’s become the Phillies starting catcher, and delivered with a pretty good season. You can see he stats above in the WS preview post. ![]() Foxx Danny McFadden, Yankees World Series hero, is now a member of the team he victimized, and is on the wrong side, of the worst World Series blowout I’ve ever seen. Cleveland wins game one, 15-1. The Indians keep the momentum going, and win games 2 and 3, limiting the Phils to just 6 total runs so far. ![]() MacFayden The Philly bats wake up. Lou Gehrig and Mule Suttles each hit home runs in a game four win. They edge Cleveland in game five, and a Babe Ruth home run is the difference in game 6. The Phillies come back from a 3-0 deficit to send the series to a seventh and deciding game. ![]() Cleveland’s Walt Huntzinger spent the first 6 years of his career bouncing around in the minors. He was 29 before getting a game in the Majors, and spend the next 3 years after that in AAA. It wasn’t until last year, when at the age of 33, he made the Indians, and started 22 games. He was 11-7 this season, with a 3.72 ERA. If I’m a Cleveland fan, I have no confidence in him. He’s just not an impressive player, but I’m sure I never would have thought he’d be where he is a few years ago. Would be a great story if he can win game 7. ![]() Johnny Stuart has been a regular in the Phillies rotation for 7 years now. He’s always put up better then average numbers for the most part, which means staff ace in Philly! He’s been horrible in the World Series, infact, this year’s game 4 was the first WS win for him in 9 starts. He’s 1-5 with a 9.18 ERA. The Indians open the scoring with a 2 out rally in the fourth inning. Bob Meusel doubled in Jack Burns to give the Tribe a lead. In the next inning, Philly came back. Lou Gehrig got a 2 out single, and on the next pitch, Mule Suttles hits a home run down the left field line. 2-1 Philly. It stayed that way until the bottom of the eighth. An Otis Brannan groundball got away from Clevelnd SS Travis Jackson. A sac bunt moved him to second. Bibb Falk hit another sharp grounder to short, and again, Jackson commits the error, and Brannan comes around to score. 3-1 Philly. ![]() Usually sure handed SS Jackson Goose Goslin singles home a run for Cleveland in the ninth, but they can’t manage another run. As it turns out, Travis Jackson’s 2 errors in the eighth cost the Tribe a World Series! ![]() Last edited by George_Bell; 04-20-2014 at 04:37 PM. |

That Phillies offense just isn't fair for the rest of the NL. How long before the pitchers go on strike if someone (e.g. the Phillies front office, injuries, or the baseball gods) doesn't break up murderers row + Mule Suttles and Jimmie Foxx?

FINALLY!
For all the offensive hype, the Phillies have been crap, with that 15-1 schellacking, I thought Mgr Cicotte might have called some old friends But due to Travis Jackson and the mysterious pebble in the field, the Phillies probably grab their only pennant for awhile just like those 1924 Senators, who had Lindstrom win game 7 for them with a costly error, who was Lindstrom's partner at SS then? Travis Jackson |
