This is really cool Chris, always liked the extra stuff you've done with your unis even if I'm still slightly traumatized from losing your horse racing unis on the last day twice in a row in brutal fashion.

Those were so much fun to run and I loved all the participation. The game that I have long thought lost is the one that I just re-discovered on an old storage disk! How are things for you these days? The last I remember, you were looking for something long-term after the stint with the census (gosh, that was ages ago).

Things are going really well for me. I was unemployed for about 7 months before I found a part time job as a case manager at a local retirement community which I have no social work background at all. Was part time for about a year and then the full time case worker left and I was bumped up to full time. Stay there for I believe another year and half or so before I ended up getting a job at the Palm Beach County Tax Collector. We're tax collector/DMV kind of a one stop shop for all those fun things people don't want to do. Been there for what will be a couple of years in January, got promoted to a supervisor role back at the beginning of the year and have to say I'm really happy there. Plus, I dropped like 60 pounds over the last year and just really happy with how things are going in my life at the moment. How about yourself man? Things good hopefully.

That makes me really happy to read Romy. So good to hear! Other than the kids getting older by the minute, little new and all well up here.

There was a great match today in the November Grand Basho (the real one). Yokozuna Hakuho v. the Maegashira 1 Osunaarashi.
Hakuho is on a Joe Louis like run though he pulled out of the September basho due to injury and fitness was a question. He won on days one and two. Osunaarashi is an Egyptian rikishi that has been moving up the ranks with his M1 status this basho being his highest. He is very strong and often employs a more aggressive style than is the norm. Exciting guy to watch. He was 1-1 going into day three (this match). As Maegashira 1, he will face almost the entire San'yaku (the upper tier of champions) making a kachi-koshi (winning record) quite difficult. Guys that reach M1 rank often get hurled back down the ladder due to the suddenly stiffer schedule that they face. He looks great so far and this may well be the basho that he pushes his way into the San'yaku. This was a good one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ox3aoSa5fAo

I like the reaction at the end here - but though he won, guess another case where nobody happy with match.

The other one that you linked was clearly intentional. Opponent's head was pushed down.

Actually, that one looked pretty intentional too.

Surprisingly little comments about it on that forum (I don't frequent others). The place exploded over the one in the last basho but I think there is both bias for Hakuho and against Kakuruyu in general. I do not know enough to know why.
Anyway, these guys seem to think it was not terribly intentional. Even the opponent said he went too low just when Hakuho went high. Hakuhou's henka talk - Honbasho Talk - Sumo Forum

It is time to move on to the next Basho which in my little world is July of 1758.
Of greatest interest will be to see if the March winner (Yusho) will repeat and become my first to reach the rank of Yokozuna. To refresh memories, only an Ozeki that wins two consecutive Basho can be promoted to the rank of Yokozuna. In the real world, they also have to pass the consideration of a body that decides such things and looks at character as well. For me, two consecutive victories will do it. So, all eyes on the east Ozeki Shirakawa Shigaemon. I will post the Banzuke for the July Basho shortly.
