February 2309
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, College, and Youth Leagues by Nat Wright-Kawolski 25 February 2309 Commonwealth Youth Invitational The Commonwealth Youth Inviitational proved a success with 64 youth teams participating in the double-elimination, 12-day tournament. In the end, the Provincetown Land Pirates defeated the Plymouth Hunters in the final game, 2-0. The Land Pirates has won their first six games before dropping the first Finals game, 9-4. However, the Hunters had to win twice, something they could not do. Sophomore SP Grime Wormtongue was named the MVP of the final game thanks to pitching 7.1 innings of eight-hit, shutout ball. Wormtongue also struck out eight players. Both Provincetown runs came in the top of the 1st. Lobster Schintzius led off with a double off Plymouth starter Fisher Trout. Schintzius advanced to third on a ground out and then scored on Charles Towner's RBI sacrifice fly. With two outs and no one on, Mox Burtolemy singled and Rogan Balls walked. Survivor Empose Famm then hit an RBI single for the 2-0 lead, which proved to be enough to win the game. Domes are great. I was actually getting nostalgic for some of the older domes in MLB the other day, forgot you had one coming. I guess most parks these days do have a roof... but it's just not the same... I have a very particular taste in architecture/aesthetics... (well, really, a few sets of tastes, but that's neither here nor there).
Though mildly related... on the topic of Bethesda games, I started playing Morrowind for the first* time ever last weekend. Vivec City would make for a wild stadium location, though I've not been to the arena canton yet so I don't know if it is, in effect, already what I'm imagining. |

I even saw (but was too young to remember) an Orioles-Yankees exhibition in the Superdome with the Louisiana legend Ron Guidry on the mound. After that, when anyone asked me my name, I would say, "Ron Guidry." There were some old people after I was grown up who still called me Ron Guidry. That was the beginning of my love for baseball, at 2. For Morrowind, I have it, too, but I never got as deep into it as I did with Oblivion and Skyrim. Oblivion was my introduction to the Elder Scrolls. Morrowind, as I understand, has an impressive map overall. Maybe one day I will give it a run more than the first couple of hours. I could guess, though, what a stadium in Vivec City's architecture would look like.

I tried Morrowind for the (real) first time in August 2022. Unfortunately, I had covid in July 2022, and in retrospect, I had brainfog at the time. I played 10 hours and couldn't even level up once or complete a single quest. Indeed, I knew something was off for quite some time... it's only been Februrary of this year that I've actually really felt mentally with it again (though the thing is, during that time period, I didn't realize I was mentally impaired, just in retrospect it's obvious). Giving Morrowind another shot now, this is the most fun I've had in a long time, and I'm having no trouble. Sorry for the tangent, but moral of the story, and important message, covid is no joke, be careful guys. That's basically 18 months I was affected and didn't know it. |

March 2309
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, College, and Youth Leagues by Nat Wright-Kawolski 22 March 2309 CYL Preview The Commonwealth Youth League with 64 teams has begun its 2309 season. However, we have yet to take a look at what to expect coming into the season for future stars of the CBO. Season Outlook PAM has spoken, and the Beantown Sprouts of the Sunshine Tidings area appear to be the strongest team coming into the 2309 season. PAM predicts that they will finish 53-23, the only team in the CYL predicted to win 50+ games in the 76-game schedule. Part of the power of the Sprouts is that the scouts see seven players as being 1st-round grades in potential. SP Alex Language (So) returns after an 11-4, 3.47 freshman season on the mound. Other top players include LF Gremlin T. Squearfish and 3B Allee Bobbuh, two seniors expected to lead the team offensively. In the South Region, the Spectacle Island Specters are expected to have the best record of 48-28 in what is expected to be a tight race both in their Louisa May Alcott Division and all of the South Region. Top players in 2309 are expected to be on offense: NR - RF Naga Arakaki, Jr, Concord; 1B I.C. Reader, Fr, Marblehead; 1B Bipp Islander, Sr, Hester SR - RF Innis Sark, Sr, Spectacle Island; 2B King Hippo, Jr, Spectacle Island; RF Huge Hugh Testerman, Soph, Dennis And on the mound: NR - SP Buzzcut McDonald, Soph, Hester; SP Chase Seashores, Jr, CIT Academy; SP Alex Language, Soph, Beantown SR - SP Siltbean Ferguson, Fr, Taunton; SP Alt Errigo, Fr, Harwich; SP Tiny de Grande, Soph, Truro Top Incoming Freshmen 1B I.C. April 2309
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, BCAC, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 1 April 2309 The April Super Thread CBO Predictions We are just a few days away from the 2309 regular season. PAM, our most trusted robot with predictive algorithm technology returns for another year of predictions. This season, it appears that PAM favors the County Crossing Bloodbugs to return to the top of the NCA with the Vault 81 Dwellers possessing the SCA's top records. League winners are the Bugs, Starlight, University Point, and the Dwellers. Potential seeds for the playoffs would look this way: NCA 1. County Crossing 2. Starlight 3. Nordhagen Beach 4. Bunker Hill 5. Salem SCA 1. Vault 81 2. University Point 3. Oberland 4. Jamaica Plain 5. Roxbury Potential top hitters are: NCA - RF Babs Rooth, County Crossing; RF Brian DeLong, Salem; 1B Dusty Brownell, Sunshine Tidings; and rookie 1B Kilometers Davis, The Slog SCA - 1B Barker Cocoa, University Point; CF Missile Crews, Goodneighbor; 2B Diamond Ball, Spectacle Island; and RF Orcin Cardinal, Oberland Potential top pitchers are: NCA - SP Beachboy Nut, Nordhagen Beach; SP College Luckyman, County Crossing; SP Digger Vadim, Starlight; and SP Jalen Temper, Nahant SCA - SP Mesquite Williams, Oberland; SP Derek Green, Jamaica Plain; SP Emperry Alizm, Oberland; and Sp Scruffy Taguchi, Vault 81 Potential top rookies are: 1B Kilometers Davis, The Slog; P Pokey Chatman, Salem; 3B Keg Gutterson, Quincy; 1B Syd Thriftstore, FHE; and 1B Steve Mirv, Goodneighbor Sole Survivor Series pick: Oberland over Nordhagen Beach While PAM has neither team winning their own league, PAM believes that this postseason will be dominated by pitching, something that favors both the T-51s and Party Boys in the postseason. She has Oberland as a slight favorite to win the Sole Survivor Series, which would be their first championship since 2297 when the T-51s also defeated the Boys. CYL Analysis The Commonwealth Youth League as a combination of the old Boston Youth Development League and the Southern Commonwealth Youth League is now 15 games into the 2304 season. Because of the vast amount of teams, we cannot show the complete standings for your PipBoy uploads. Therefore, we will show the WIldcard Standings where you can see the divisional leaders per region and the teams in top contention for the eight wildcard spots per region. As you may have noticed, the CYL has begun a new rule of limiting a regular season game to 12 innings to attempt to limit the time and wear on the young people playing. Any game tied after 12 complete innings is ruled a tie and marked in the standings. The Stoneham Commandos at 9-4-2 are the team that has tied the most thus far. There have been nine total ties so far. Beantown was the team expected to be the best, and so far, they are the best with a 13-1 record in the first month. Senior LF Gremlin T. Squearfish (.415/3/17) leads the NR's top-ranked offense, which has scored 99 runs so far. The Sprouts have also allowed the fewest runs (34), led by SPs Gary Harvard (2-0, 0.00) and Alex Language (1-0, 2.45). CYL Power Rankings Here are the current team power rankings for Commonwealth Youth League: Teams (Total Points, Tendency): 1) Beantown Sprouts (202.0, +) 2) Weymouth Locksmiths (174.0, +) 3) Stoneham Commandos (153.0, ++) 4) Dennis Menaces (151.0, ++) 5) North Charles Bank Goonies (144.0, ++) 6) Spectacle Island Specters (138.0, o) 7) Swansea Nuka Sox (126.5, ++) 8) Green Future Sea Urchins (126.0, ++) 9) Jamaica Plain Treasures (124.0, ++) 10) Lexington Minuteboys (121.0, --) 11) Thompson Heights Earthlings (121.0, ++) 12) Andrew Station Southies (120.0, --) 13) Taunton Giants (119.0, --) 14) Saugus Launchers (118.5, -) 15) South Charles Bank Moonies (116.5, ++) 16) Hope Firestarters (114.0, ++) 17) Castle Freedom (110.0, ++) 18) Worcester Crows (109.0, --) 19) Boston Common Baby Bellies (108.0, ++) 20) Brockton Claws (107.0, ++) 21) Provincetown Land Pirates (106.0, --) 22) Wareham Comets (106.0, --) 23) Lynn Pier Gamers (104.0, --) 24) Eastham Rads (99.2, ++) 25) Covenant Dandy Boys (98.2, --) 26) GSP Venom (92.0, o) 27) South Beach Waves (92.0, ++) 28) Marblehead Mess (91.0, +) 29) Sandwich Screamers (91.0, ++) 30) West Quincy Atomatoys (91.0, --) 31) Rockport Seafarers (89.0, -) 32) Danvers Perception (88.0, --) 33) Diamond City Newsboys (86.0, --) 34) Plymouth Hunters (86.0, ++) 35) Marlborough Minigunners (84.8, ++) 36) Sudbury Celebs (83.8, ++) 37) Truro Hatchlings (81.8, ++) 38) Woburn Diners (79.8, --) 39) Wellesley Brahmin (78.8, --) 40) North Providence Phantoms (78.0, ++) 41) Wellfleet Tarberries (76.0, --) 42) Beerthirty Sippers (74.0, --) 43) Brown Bubblers (74.0, --) 44) Freeplat Wicked Goods (74.0, o) 45) Georgetown Scholars (74.0, ++) 46) Littleton Beasts (74.0, ++) 47) Concord Iceboys (71.0, --) 48) State House Orphans (71.0, -) 49) Boston Harbor Harborfellows (70.0, ++) 50) Nauset Beach Lurk Hunters (70.0, --) 51) Chatham Lighthouse (62.5, +) 52) Needham Radstorm (59.5, --) 53) Hester Mechanists (59.0, ++) 54) East Providence Skulls (56.0, ++) 55) Harwich Fishheads (55.0, --) 56) Seekonk Quahog (55.0, --) 57) New Bedford Whales (53.0, --) 58) Circle Jerks (44.1, +) 59) Pawtucket Paw Sox (42.0, -) 60) Acton Ups (40.0, +) 61) CIT Academy Yahoos (36.0, --) 62) Braintree Schoolboys (29.0, --) 63) Lowell Frags (21.7, --) 64) Woodlawn Gnomes (17.0, --) CYL Players of the Month NR Hitter - B.B. Raznjatovic put together a good March to earn the North Region Batter of the Month prize. A virtual unknown, he made the most of his chance to prove to Concord officials that he belongs on the big league roster. The Iceboys left fielder posted a .372 batting average with 7 home runs, 13 RBIs and 14 runs scored. SR Hitter - Ramrod Arana has a lot going for him. The West Quincy catcher just broke into the majors this year and now the South Region has just picked him as its top hitter for March. In 14 games last month this outstanding rookie batted .400 with 8 home runs, 17 RBIs and 15 runs scored. NR Pitcher - The Pitcher of the Month Award in March has been selected and the North Region honor went to Lynn Pier hurler, Macho Lopez. For his excellent performance he has been named the league's top pitcher. During the month, Lopez was superb with a 1.91 ERA and 4 wins and no losses. In 33 innings he struck out 27 and gave up 16 hits and 8 walks. SR Pitcher - There was little doubt around the South Region that Siltbean Ferguson would be awarded Pitcher of the Month honors for March. Today, they made it official, naming the 14-year-old Taunton Giants starter the latest honoree. He thoroughly dominated the hitters who stood in against him, holding them to a .117 batting average while fashioning a 0.28 ERA in 4 starts. His record for the month was 3-0 in 32.2 innings of work.

BCAC Preview The Boston Collegiate Athletic Conference begins its second season of existence. Last season, the Northeastern University Huskies defeated the CIT Engineers in a seven-game series. This season has seen an influx of young talent, including some outstanding players in the Commonwealth's youth leagues. PAM sees the College Series being a matchup of the Bunker Hill University Globalists versus the Mass Bay University Beacons. The Beacons are expected to edge the Globalists for the championship. Some of the top players vying for top awards in hitting are SS Togie Pitt, Fr, Harvard; 1B Hulk Seepley, Fr, Harvard; 2B Homer Chronicler, Fr, Bunker Hill; and 1B Victor Yes, Fr, CIT. The top four pitchers are all expected to be freshmen as well: SP Freon McMahan, Mass Bay; SP Cutter Redman, Tufts; SP Frank Heart, Mass Bay; and SP Gilchrist Moore, Boston College. OSA Scouts also have listed 10 players, all freshman, to look for in future CBO drafts. All BCAC players are considered to be draft-eligible at will, meaning that any can declare for the CBO Rookie Draft after the season. The top 10 prospects are: 1. We've entered a new era where PAM now tells me what I want to hear but I still disagree with her.
Also I found out literally yesterday PAM is voiced by the same person that voiced Lydia in Skyrim. |

April 2309
BNN Weekly Report News from the CBO, Minors, College, and Youth Leagues by Nat Wright-Kawolski 19 April 2309 CBO Analysis Another year, another exciting start to a season. We have now completed two weeks of the CBO regular season, making up 10% of teams' games played. Some teams are looking as though they are championship contenders, while some other teams have starter too slowly out of the gates to put any stock in. Here are the Power Rankings, according to BNN with a breakdown of the Top 5 teams: Teams (Total Points, Tendency): 1) Oberland T-51s (167.0, +) - The T-51s have leaped out of the gates as the hottest team in the CBO just one season after falling a game short of winning the Sole Survivor Series. In 12 games, Oberland only dropped two in their interassociation games: April 7 and 8 to Starlight and Concord, respectively. The T-51s are now on a 9-game winning streak heading into SCA play. 2) Jamaica Plain Red Rockets (159.0, o) - Fresh off their Nuka Cup Tournament victory, the Red Rockets have also started the season hot at 10-2 with their sole losses coming at the defending champions, Bunker Hill, and a home loss to Easy Town before that. 3) Starlight Killers (146.0, ++) - The Killers have emerged as a strong team in the first two weeks of the season after going 9-3 in interassociation games. Starlight dropped two against the RL, at Vault 81 and FHE. They also dropped their first game against the ML at home versus the Rockets before winning the next five. 4) Bunker Hill 75ers (145.0, ++) - The defending champions also started out well, tied with Starlight for the NCA's best record at 9-3. The 75ers lost all three in a row, falling at the T-51s, Egret, and Diamond City before sweeping the ML at home. 5) Diamond City Swatters (111.0, ++) - The Swatters have been down for a few years but started the 2309 season as a challenger. Diamond City dropped three at home to Sunshine Tidings, Fort Hagen, and the Killers, but only dropped two on the road at Salem and County Crossing to go 7-5 to start the season. 6) Nordhagen Beach Party Boys (108.0, --) 7) Roxbury Rad Sox (108.0, ++) 8) Spectacle Island Reapers (108.0, ++) 9) Egret Ninjas (104.0, -) 10) Easy Town Assaultrons (99.2, --) 11) Vault 81 Dwellers (97.2, --) 12) Sunshine Tidings Chemists (91.0, ++) 13) Fort Hagen Silver Shroud (74.0, -) 14) Salem Witch Hats (74.0, ++) 15) County Crossing Bloodbugs (72.0, ++) 16) Nahant Celtics (72.0, --) 17) University Point Deathclaws (71.0, ++) 18) Quincy Gunners (70.0, --) 19) Concord Radstags (57.0, ++) 20) Lexington Synths (57.0, --) 21) FHE Yao Guai (56.0, --) 22) Atom Cats (55.0, --) 23) The Slog Ghouls (49.0, --) 24) Goodneighbor Hancocks (23.0, -) Brotherhood League Last season, we considered the BL to be the strongest league with every team in contention for a winning season. This season, the BL is overall on a slow start, going 32-39 in interassociation play with Easy Town and Vault 81 needing to make up a game postponed due to radstorm. Compared to other leagues, IL (37-35), ML (33-39), and RL (41-30), the BL has some work to do in overcoming the IL for association dominance. Only Nordhagen Beach and Easy Town are currently above .500, though every team has shown some flashes of being able to compete. County Crossing at 5-7 is not terrible but is not showing signs yet of getting back to contention in the NCA. One team to look at before they potentially fall off is The Slog in last place at 4-8. While the Ghouls have shown some offensive dominance, especially rookie 1B Kilometers Davis (.404/8/16) tied for the CBO lead in home runs and leading the league in total bases (48), their pitching has been miserable, already 12th in the NCA in runs allowed (72) and Starters ERA (5.54). SP Denaria Kee (0-1, 14.73 in three starts) has not made a smooth transition from bullpen to the starting rotation. The rest of the rotation has been OK but not great with the exception of SP Tiger Fanne (1-0, 3.27). Institute League The top three teams from last season are currently the top three teams this season, though as we showed in the Top 5, two teams, Bunker Hill and Starlight, are at the very top of the association. While the other three teams are probably improved, none of them are considered contenders in 2309. For Lexington, it is now the only franchise to reach the playoffs in the combined CBO. They made the playoffs in 2297 as the IL champions but lost their First Round series to Nordhagen Beach, 3 games to 1. The Synths are no closer to the playoffs now but would like to start to build up their talent pool to compete. Unfortunately for Lexington, the pitching prospects are not promising. The Synths are currently 12th in runs scored (42), which means that the time may be right now for their offensive talent to contribute. 2308 Red Rocket Rookie Award winner LF Family Sam Partridge (,348/4/6) is contributing the most, but he and RF Danny Faraday (.327/1/3) are the only players batting above .300 so far. This team is in trouble and may find itself at the bottom of the CBO standings at the end of the season. Minutemen League As mentioned, Jamaica Plain has used a strong preseason to have a fast start in the 2309 season. At 7-5, Spectacle Island is the only other team above .500, with University Point having another season slow out of the gates at 5-7. Last season, that slow start ended up preventing the Claws from making the playoffs, something that could be a factor again in 2309 in a strong association. The Goodneighbor Hancocks have finished at the bottom of the standings for four straight years. Starting out 2-10 in 2309 is not the direction they thought they would be going, though there is plenty of time for improvement. Unfortunately, a little talent is not enough to pull up the whole team. With the 10th-ranked scoring offense (45 runs), only CF Missile Crews (.395/4/5) has been propping up the offense. RF Blii Lazarus (.275/0/1) is second on the team in batting. For no offensive production, the Hancocks are only worse at their scoring defense with the 12th-ranked team in runs allowed (82). SP Pete Holster (0-2, 12.38) has been a large reason for the 11th-best Starters ERA (5.97). Second-year pitcher SP Heaven Fontenot (0-2, 6.17) has also struggled out the gates, but there is marked improvement in his pitches from his rookie season when he finished 7-8 with a 4.58 ERA with two saves in 32 appearances with 19 starts. Railroad League Oberland emerged as a force in 2308, and they are already tied with the Rockets for the CBO's best record. The T-51s have been growing talent with one of the better farm systems, and it shows, including the emergence of fourth-year player RF Judge Sharp (.435/8/14). The rest of the RL except for FHE is above .500, meaning that this could be a competitive league. Roxbury is not as exciting as it once was, but the Rad Sox are tied for 2nd and looking like a playoff contender despite just a .583 winning percentage so far. The lone team below .500 is the Yao Guai, which has not found any success over the seasons. Their offense is at the bottom, 12th in runs scored (39) as well as just about every other offensive category. No player has done anything much, including a CBO-low five team home runs. Only LF Delmarva Illeracula (.310/0/4) is batting above .300. The pitching has allowed 58 runs, good enough for 8th in the SCA. Third-year pitcher and team ace SP Paul Stains (2-0, 2.16) has finally emerged as the talent he was expected to be, but he has little support and must be almost perfect to win games. CBO Standings CBO Players of the Week April 12 - Gavin Deux-Gas has the tools to stick in this league for many years. The 20-year-old shortstop of the The Slog Ghouls had a hot bat in the North Charles Association over the past seven days and won the Player of the Week honors. Deux-Gas batted .536 with 15 hits in 28 at-bats, 2 home runs and 6 RBIs. Judge Sharp demonstrated his potential to be a star in the game last week and today he took home the South Charles Association Player of the Week Award. The Oberland right fielder wreaked havoc on opposing pitchers last week, pounding them for a .500 average (11-for-22) with 5 home runs and 8 RBIs on his way to claiming the honor. April 19 - It's always a thrill for fans of the team and students of the game alike when a superstar in the making shows what he's got. Aaron Squire, the Bunker Hill 75ers 22-year-old shortstop, put himself in the spotlight last week making him the clear-cut choice for North Charles Association Player of the Week honors. He ripped 12 hits in 21 at-bats, compiling a .571 average with 6 home runs and 15 RBIs. One of the league's most exciting young players, Blaine Bishop of the Diamond City Swatters earned himself South Charles Association Player of the Week honors with a standout performance in last week's games. For the week the 22-year-old second baseman had a lofty .500 average (11-for-22), collecting 2 home runs, 5 RBIs and 12 runs scored. I realized just now that I forgot to attach the image of the predictions. It is now added to that post for a visual of what PAM is expecting. Let's see how the season turns out, but it may not be too far from how things will shake out. Two league winners in the predictions--County Crossing and University Point--are struggling early, but a run is all teams need sometimes.

May 2309
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, BCAC, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 1 May 2309 The May Super Post CBO Players of the Month NCA Hitter - The Slog Ghouls fans believe they've got a talented young star in Kilometers Davis. He did nothing to dissuade that notion in April, as he hit .407 with 10 home runs, 25 RBIs and 19 runs scored. The end result was the first baseman being named the North Charles Association Batter of the Month. SCA Hitter - Ken Debate made his presence known as one of the best young stars in the South Charles Association this past month. The Jamaica Plain Red Rockets left fielder shined through the month of April and has won the Batter of the Month award. The 24-year-old hit .346 with 10 home runs, 26 RBIs and 18 runs scored. NCA Pitcher - The Easy Town Assaultrons felt very secure when they sent Major Tom Brennan out to the hill last month. The 28-year-old starter went after North Charles Association hitters with a vengeance and earned April's Pitcher of the Month award. He went 4-0 with a 3.02 ERA as he struck out 29 in 41.2 innings over 5 starts. SCA Pitcher - Tony Bertha left little doubt in the minds of South Charles Association officials that he should be named April's Pitcher of the Month for his outstanding performance. "I wasn't always confident at the start of a game," said Bertha. "Sometimes it's hard to get into the flow -- the calls aren't going your way or you're trying to spot your pitches too much. You just have to relax and use what you've been taught all your life -- get back to basics -- good mechanics, control, location, keep the ball down." The 32-year-old tossed 40.2 innings of quality baseball -- going 5-0 with a 2.21 ERA and 18 strikeouts. NCA Rookie - Kilometers Davis earned April's Rookie of the Month honors in the North Charles Association for last month's performance. The boyish The Slog first baseman might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level. Davis hit .407 with 10 home runs, 25 RBIs and 19 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award. SCA Rookie - Youngster Steve Mirv emerged as the latest South Charles Association Rookie of the Month today. The young man from Goodneighbor deserved the honor, batting .246 with 3 home runs and 12 RBI. Is the month of April a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Mirv enjoy the limelight. MML Analysis We are a month into the 2309 season, and the players trying to vie for a spot back on a CBO roster seem to be the players standing out the most. At the same time, there are some youngsters who could see their first call up to the CBO soon. In the standings, division leaders at the end of April are the Burlington Ferals, Finch Farm Shamrocks, Providence Warlocks, and a tie between the Braintree Robobrains and Warwick Mirelurks. 1B Jackie Shepherd of Braintree (NB) appears to be the player most on his way to an MVP season with a .486 average, 6 home runs, 23 RBI, and an MML-best 1.7 WAR. Shepherd was never able to catch on to the Party Boys since being traded there from Quincy following the 2306 season. However, the 29-year-old has been a force for the Robobrains the past three seasons. MML Players of the Month LL Hitter - It's perhaps an award he'll win many more times through his career, as at age 22 Earhole Watson has a lot of baseball ahead of him. But for now the young Finch Farm Shamrocks star can enjoy the numbers he put up in April, which have garnered him the nod as the Legends League Batter of the Month. His breakout month featured a .365 average with 9 home runs, 30 RBIs and 21 runs scored. SL Hitter - Hester Mechanist may be much younger than other hitters in the Stars League, but he performed like a seasoned veteran in April to win the Batter of the Month award. The 21-year-old Warwick first baseman hit .450 with 9 home runs, 23 RBIs and 20 runs scored. LL Pitcher - Lynn Fortune Finders starter Wicked Good O'Malley has collected the Legends League Pitcher of the Month award for a run of lights-out performances. "This town really appreciates it when you're going well," said O'Malley. "They might boo you when you're getting knocked around, but they love you when you're mowin' them down." In April the 29-year-old compiled a 5-0 record in 5 starts with a 3.96 ERA. He threw 36.1 innings, fanning 34 while walking 23. SL Pitcher - The Stars League hitters didn't have a chance in April when the Warwick Mirelurks manager wrote "Cochrane" on the lineup card. Outing after outing, Homeslice Cochrane held teams in check and usually got a win. He excelled with a 4-0 mark and 2.74 ERA in 4 starts. The talented Mirelurks star pitched 23 innings, fanned 13 and held opposing teams to a .253 average. For his superb mound work Cochrane was named the SL Pitcher of the Month by the baseball writers. BMU Analysis The season is still early in the BMU with teams only having played nine games each thus far. Division leaders are the Brockton Irish; Sanctuary Hills Zetans, Woburn Bobbleheads, Mystic Pines Raybathers, and Littleton Ragers in the Cambridge League; Plymouth Pilgrims and West Roxbury Mole Rats in the Downtown Boston League; and Mayoral Shelter Tricentennials. GBRL Analysis Like the BMU, the GBRL season is still young, thus no players of the month just yet. Early divisional leaders are the Lynn Woods Bloatflies; Union Hope Lifegivers and Corvega Flamers in the Northwest Division; Hyde Park Stingwngs and Park Street AntAgonizers in the Southeast Division; and Pioneer Park Hackers. BCAC Analysis The BCAC enters its second season with a lot of exciting baseball from the "smarter" baseball players in the Commonwealth. Early players to watch include SS Togie Pitt, Fr, Harvard (.451/3/22/1.3 WAR) and SP Freon McMahan, Fr, Mass Bay (2-2, 3.23, 1.1 WAR). The Harvard Crimson and Tufts Jumbos lead the North Division, while the Commonwealth Terriers have a three-game lead in the South Division. BCAC Players of the Month BCAC Hitter - For a rookie just breaking in, Homer Chronicler certainly put together a successful month. It was good enough to win the BCAC Batter of the Month award for April. The 18-year-old first baseman for the Bunker Hill Globalists hit .429 with 9 home runs, 20 RBIs and 22 runs scored. BCAC Pitcher - Long John Abadie dazzled opponents on his way to the Boston Collegiate Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Month award for April. Posting a 4-0 record and a 2.31 ERA, the Northeastern Huskies starter held opposing hitters to a .233 batting average while striking out 17 in 23.1 innings and giving up 6 walks. CYL Analysis The CYL's first season (though they are maintaining the records of the BYDL) is more than halfway done. With just over a month and 36 games to go, there is still plenty of time for teams to make a move up or down the standings. Current divisional leaders are in order of record per region are: the Beantown Sprouts, Needham Radstorm, North Charles Bank Goonies, and Beerthirty Sippers in the North Region and the Thompson Heights Earthlings, Brown Bubblers, Eastham Rads, and Wareham Comets in the South Region. CYL Players of the Month NR Hitter - Even though he is a newcomer to Commonwealth Youth League, Sincere Grey put up some good numbers in April and earned the NR Batter of the Month award. He was one of Beantown's offensive leaders with a .406 average in 26 games. He also racked up 9 home runs, 25 RBIs, and 20 runs scored. Presently Grey is batting .330 with 11 home runs and 33 RBIs. He has played in 40 games and scored 26 times. SR Hitter - Harwich Fishheads fans may just have witnessed a star player blossoming before their eyes in April. Cole Apse put up a remarkable month at the age of 14 and has been named the South Region Batter of the Month. For the month, Apse hit .407 with 9 home runs, 25 RBIs and 21 runs scored. Hitting .397 to date, Apse has 14 home runs and 34 RBIs. He has played in 40 games. NR Pitcher - The Pitcher of the Month for April has been picked and the North Region award went to Beantown hurler, Alex Language. During the month, Language was impressive with a 1.69 ERA and 7 wins and no losses. In 48 innings he struck out 54 and gave up 26 hits and 23 walks. Checking out his stats for the season, Language has racked up 8 wins and no losses in 11 starts, posted a 1.95 ERA, and struck out 87 batters in 73.2 innings. SR Pitcher - Last month was a very good one for Melvin Terminator of Wareham. So good that he has been picked as the Pitcher of the Month in the South Region. Terminator throttled league hitters the entire month, completing April with an impressive 6-0 mark and a 0.96 ERA in 6 starts with 56 strikeouts in 47 innings. This season Terminator has compiled a 8-2 record with a 1.46 ERA.

Season Pass Association
---------------------------------------------------------- Nuka News Update Reporting on the NWL, APL, NWLR, and BBL Leagues by Evan Guy 1 May 2309 NWL Preview The 2309 season is coming soon, and we have again hired the services of PAM the assaultron to predict the Nuka World League season. PAM sees the Wild Gatorclaws and Orange Tourists winning their divisions with the Tourists taking the championship. PAM's favorites for the top hitter and pitcher are SS Ah Oona of Grape and SP Allen Puckett of Orange. Rookies to watch are 1B Young Hee Cyuleez of the Painted Ghouls (#5 prospect) and SP Willis Code of Dark (#2 Prospect). C Danny Doright of the Tourists is expected to begin with the Nuka Town Operators in the Amusement Park League. Looking ahead to the expanded Bradberton Boys League with the original eight teams manning the West Division and the eight newcomers manning the East Division, PAM is predicting the Mad Mulligan Travelers defeating the Holyoke Mech Dragons in the Bradberton Boys Series. The season begins today. Vim! View Veracious, Vivacious, Vainglorious Vision of the Vim! Leagues by Vikky Vail 1 May 2309 Vim! League Preview The 2309 season begins next week, and we expect to have a strong season for divisional races in 2309. In the end, the Eden Meadows Anglers are expected to outpace the Echo Lake Harbormen in the Fog Division. In the Harbor Division, the Far Harbor Ghoul Whales are expected to edge the Grand Hotel Atoms by two games. Top hitter candidates are 1B Gladder Questseeker of the Atoms, 1B Angus McGuyver of Acadia, and 1B Macaw Lee Calkins of Cranberry Island. The top pitchers are expected to be SPs Keith Lighthouse and Alex Ruder of Far Harbor and SP Jason Woods of the Harbormen. There are no rookie pitchers expected to contend for the top rookie award, but there are a couple hitters: 2B Fraud Sigg of National Park and 3B Legend Jurenka of Echo Lake. Sigg was an undrafted free agent with Far Harbor in 2303. After bouncing around a few teams, he was picked up by the Gulpers before the 2306 season. Jurenka was a 2301 10th-round draft choice by Nordhagen Beach of the CBO out of the Brown U Bubblers youth league team. He was part of a trade that brought SP Ugio Church to the Party Boys team.

May 2309
BNN Weekly Report News from the CBO, Minors, College, and Youth Leagues by Nat Wright-Kawolski 3 May 2309 CBO Analysis The CBO has just passed the 1/6 mark, and some teams are beginning to distance themselves as league play begins this weekend. The Brotherhood League is the closest with the first-place Party Boys only four games up on the sixth-place Ghouls. Every other league's sixth-place team trails by 10. Here are the current team power rankings for Commonwealth Baseball Organization: Teams (Total Points, Tendency): 1) Starlight Killers (139.9, ++) - Now tied for the CBO's best record and in possession of the best record in the NCA, the Killers went 7-3 in the past two weeks with a current five-game winning streak. Starlight split with Nordhagen Beach, split with Salem, split with The Slog, won two over County Crossing, and won two over Nahant. 2) Oberland T-51s (131.9, -) - The T-51s are tied for the CBO's best record and the best in the SCA after going 6-4 in their last 10. Oberland split with Atom, swept Goodneighbor, split with the Cats again, split with University Point, and split with Spectacle Island. 3) Egret Ninjas (130.7, o) - The Ninjas went a CBO-best 8-2 in their last 10 to pull within a game in the Railroad League of the T-51s. Egret split with Quincy, swept the Deathclaws, swept the Reapers, split with Jamaica Plain, and swept at Atom. 4) Jamaica Plain Red Rockets (123.7, -) - The Red Rockets struggled a bit, going 5-5 in the past two weeks but still hold a three-game lead in the Minutemen League. Jamaica Plain was swept at Roxbury, swept FHE, split with Diamond City, split with the Ninjas, and split with Vault 81. 5) Bunker Hill 75ers (116.5, o) - The 75ers dropped a couple of games behind the Killers after going 5-5 in the past two weeks and still hold the second-best record in the NCA. Bunker Hill split with the Witch Hats, split with the Ghouls, got swept at the Bloodbugs, split with the Celtics, and swept Easy Town. 6) Roxbury Rad Sox (116.5, -) 7) Nordhagen Beach Party Boys (110.4, ++) 8) County Crossing Bloodbugs (104.2, ++) 9) Salem Witch Hats (101.2, ++) 10) Sunshine Tidings Chemists (101.2, --) 11) Spectacle Island Reapers (99.2, -) 12) Quincy Gunners (96.0, ++) 13) University Point Deathclaws (95.0, o) 14) Vault 81 Dwellers (89.0, +) 15) Easy Town Assaultrons (86.0, --) 16) Atom Cats (81.8, o) 17) Nahant Celtics (79.8, --) 18) The Slog Ghouls (74.6, +) 19) Fort Hagen Silver Shroud (70.6, +) 20) Diamond City Swatters (53.5, -) 21) Concord Radstags (39.1, +) 22) FHE Yao Guai (39.1, o) 23) Goodneighbor Hancocks (38.9, +) 24) Lexington Synths (38.1, --) Brotherhood League The BL may or may not be the CBO's toughest league. What we know is that the 6th-best team in the BL is better than any other 6th-best team in the league, meaning that it will be a tough league to win in 2309. Nordhagen Beach holds a one-game lead over both Salem and County Crossing. All teams are in contention, so we want to look at teams we have interest in. In this case, we're going to still look from the bottom and work our way up. That means Nahant is worth featuring this week at 10-12 and three games back. The Celtics finished at 59-61 in 2308 but in a tie for 5th place. Currently, they are tied for 8th in runs scored (96) and 7th in runs against (99), meaning their record around .500 is accurate. Nahant has a team that seems it is just a few players from contention. Currently, the starting pitching is the strongest unit, 4th in ERA (3.78). That low ERA is because of the 2nd and 3rd starters, Zack Million (2-4, 2.63) and Doug Creep (2-1, 2.25), though run support has not been a strength. Ace SP Jalep Temper (2-3, 4.68) has struggled some. On offense, no one is batting above .300 with RF Gene Leftswipe (.295/2/10) leading the team. 3B Cope Kearns (.262/7/14) and 1B Jacob Tarberry (.250/6/12) lead the team in power and run production, along with help from CF Grandson Quarles (.286/3/15). Institute League We have begun to see a shift with both Starlight and Bunker Hill seeming to have the edge over Sunshine Tidings. None of Fort Hagen, Lexington, and Concord look to be in contention as we enter the season's second month. The Radstags have taken the reign as the CBO's worst team, and they will have to build with good drafts. They seemed to have nailed their 2307 draft pick, #2 overall CF Duff Fee (.262/5/12) who enters his second CBO season (he played 48 games in 2308) as a leader on the team. He will need to develop more and will need additional talent in time for the team 12th in runs scored (63) and 10th in runs allowed (121). Another player making a move as a young emerging star is SP Leyden Aigg (1-2, 2.43), a 2306 2nd-round pick by County Crossing traded to the Stags. Minutemen League Jamaica Plain used a good preseason to maintain momentum. With the rest of the ML struggling the Red Rockets look to have a strong case for playing for seeding in 2309, assuming they stay consistent once league play starts. Four other teams are within two games of each other with Spectacle Island in 2nd place and Atom in 5th. The Cats are most likely to remain at the bottom, winning 10 of 22 despite currently being 10th in runs scored (92) and 8th in runs allowed (109). The offense has gotten most of its production from three players: LF Figgie Legendsport (.333/6/17), CF Earthbound Bussey (.316/3/9), and 1B Casey Roux (.237/3/12). Second-year pro 2B Joe Brocflower (.344/1/9) leads the team in average from the 7th spot. He batted .315 in 2308 with 35 starts and 87 total appearances. Railroad League This league seemed to be the strongest early on, but the top and bottom has started to experience some separation. Oberland, Egret, and Roxbury are all two games difference in all from 1st-3rd place. Vault 81 is very much alive at 11-11. Then there is Diamond City and FHE. The Swatters went 1-9 in their last 10 to drop from a record above .500 to the third-worst in the SCA. The Swatters are a Jekyll and Hyde team both in their successes so far but also their units. Ranked 4th in runs scored (118), Diamond City has shown some punch from the batter's box. 2B Blaine Bishop (.408/6/13/5 SB), formerly the 5th-overall pick in the 2304 Rookie Draft by Spectacle Island, looks as though he wants to win the Nuka Hitter Award this season. Other players contributing to the offense are LF Todd Smithfield (.321/7/14), 1B Murray Bunts (.310/7/21), and RF Magnum Peaeye (.302/2/15). CBO Standings CBO Players of the Week April 26 - His lightning swing and solid bat took the North Charles Association by storm. All week Donny Kowalski of the Bunker Hill 75ers shocked opponents with an electrifying performance to capture the North Charles Association Player of the Week honors. The talented left fielder sparked his team by hitting .474 with 4 home runs, 7 RBIs and 6 runs scored. This season in 16 games, Kowalski has hit at a .288 clip with 17 hits, 6 home runs, 11 RBIs and 13 runs scored. Tony Bertha of University Point was the "Best of the Best" in the South Charles Association last week. In recognition of his outstanding play over the week, he was selected today as the Player of the Week. Bertha recorded 2 wins and no losses, 7 strikeouts and a 0.00 earned run average while holding opponents to a .161 average in 16 on the hill. May 3 - The North Charles Association has selected its Player of the Week. The honor went to Brian DeLong, right fielder of the Salem Witch Hats. In a standout performance, he lit up the league with a .455 average to win the award. DeLong went 10-for-22 for the week, totaled 4 home runs with 7 RBIs and scored 5 times. So far this year in 22 games DeLong is hitting .325 with 8 home runs, 18 RBIs and 13 runs scored. It was announced today by the South Charles Association that University Point first baseman Barker Cocoa had received the Player of the Week Trophy for his superlative play last week. The University Point first baseman wreaked havoc on opposing pitchers, pounding them for a .556 average (10-for-18) with 4 home runs and 14 RBIs on his way to claiming the honor. Cocoa is batting at a .419 pace this season, picking up 31 hits in 74 at-bats with 9 home runs, 29 RBIs and 23 runs scored. May 2309
BNN Weekly Report News from the CBO, Minors, College, and Youth Leagues by Nat Wright-Kawolski 17 May 2309 CBO Analysis The league is now 32 games, or just over 25%, of the 2309 season with six teams per association currently above .500. Those 12 teams are all recent participants in the playoffs, meaning there are probably no shifts in power at least for now before the league expands to 28 teams in 2310. Let's take a look at the Power Rankings after the first quarter. Here are the current team power rankings for Commonwealth Baseball Organization: Teams (Total Points, Tendency): 1) Roxbury Rad Sox (130.8, ++) - The Sox are back! Roxbury went 8-2 in their last 10, tied for the best in the CBO during that span, to take over the top record in the SCA and tie for the CBO's top record. The Rad Sox swept Atom, won two of three at FHE, swept Jamaica Plain on the road, and then won two over Vault 81. 2) Starlight Killers (127.8, -) - Although they dropped a spot, the Killers are still tied for the CBO's top record and have the NCA's top record after going 6-4 the past two weeks. Starlight split with Nahant, won all three over Lexington, got swept at Salem, and then won two at Fort Hagen. 3) Oberland T-51s (117.1, -) - The T-51s are no longer in 1st place in the Railroad League, but they are still a team to be reckoned with despite going 5-5 in their last 10. Oberland swept Quincy, won two at Egret, got swept at Goodneighbor, and won one of three versus the Ninjas. 4) Bunker Hill 75ers (115.5, -) - The 75ers, like Oberland, are trailing in their own league, but they are still a powerhouse in their association after a 6-4 run. Bunker Hill split with Nordhagen Beach, swept Concord, split at The Slog, and won one of three at the Radstags. 5) Egret Ninjas (113.5, +) - The Ninjas may have gone 5-5, but they trail by only two games in rounding out the Top 5 of RL and Institute League teams. Egret split with the Hancocks, won one versus the T-51s, split with University Point, and then won two at Oberland. 6) University Point Deathclaws (111.9, -) 7) Sunshine Tidings Chemists (108.9, o) 8) County Crossing Bloodbugs (104.2, +) 9) Jamaica Plain Red Rockets (103.9, -) 10) Nordhagen Beach Party Boys (103.2, ++) 11) Vault 81 Dwellers (96.6, o) 12) Salem Witch Hats (94.6, o) 13) Nahant Celtics (93.0, +) 14) Spectacle Island Reapers (87.0, o) 15) The Slog Ghouls (84.4, --) 16) Quincy Gunners (83.4, --) 17) Atom Cats (77.8, o) 18) Fort Hagen Silver Shroud (76.8, o) 19) Easy Town Assaultrons (66.1, o) 20) FHE Yao Guai (62.9, +) 21) Diamond City Swatters (56.9, -) 22) Goodneighbor Hancocks (49.6, +) 23) Lexington Synths (48.6, o) 24) Concord Radstags (45.6, -) Brotherhood League This league is still tight, though Easy Town struggled to a 2-8 mark in their last 10 to fall five games back of the BL leaders, Country Crossing and Nordhagen Beach. The Bloodbugs have seemed to recover while the Party Boys have hovered around .500 the past four weeks. Salem, Nahant, and The Slog trail by 1, 2, and 3 games, respectively. The Assaultrons are not out of the race by any stretch, but they have been struggling compared to past seasons. Of course, Easy Town also missed out on the playoffs in 2308 despite a 66-54 record. Part of the Trons' problem has been a major drop-off in offensive production. They are currently 10th in both runs scored (130) and average (.257) and 9th in home run production (28). 1B Lannie Tykeson (.333/6/23) is the team leader, though his production is currently on pace for the lowest since 2302 when he finished batting .297 with 20 home runs and 52 RBI. Other top contributors are 3B Dog Prairie (.230/8/25), LF Sean Samuels (.312/2/3), and RF Dan Squirrel (.307/3/19). Institute League Haves and Have-nots. That is the story as the top three teams have large leads over the bottom three teams. Fort Hagen is not out of the playoff race, but another month could see them more than 10 games behind third place. The top three--Starlight, Bunker Hill, and Sunshine Tidings--are just too talented to catch, and three games separates those three teams. For the Silver Shroud, their heyday is past them, having missed the playoffs the past four seasons after eight-straight seasons in the playoffs and three Sole Survivor Series appearances. Their biggest lack of talent comes in their starting pitching rotation. The Shroud ranks 12th in runs allowed (180) and Starters ERA (6.46). Two starters--Cleveland Heep (0-1, 7.71) and Matt Markland (2-4, 8.27)--have struggled considerably. Heep, the Shroud's 1st-round pick in 2307, often starts games (9 of 12 appearances) but has pitched a total of 14.0 innings. Minutemen League Only two teams--Jamaica Plain and University Point--are above .500 in a league struggling to find its groove. The Deathclaws got really hot, winning eight in a row and going 10-2 in May so far, to find themselves in a tie with the Red Rockets after trailing by four games just two weeks ago. Spectacle Island and Quincy are both hovering around .500. Quincy has been a team that has improved over the last few seasons but still cannot find itself as a winning franchise. After contending for the playoffs but fading away in the end to finish 59-61, the Gunners missed the playoffs for the ninth-straight season and still have yet to win a Minutemen League champion in franchise history. This season, they are below average in both runs scored (7th at 150) and runs allowed (8th at 156). There is a huge difference between production and non-production on offense with the top five hitters driving almost all scoring. 2B Shirt Fowler (.373/3/17) may be the CBO's best overall hitting and defensive 2B in the league. LF Hondo Ohnaka (.267/10/20) leads the team in home runs from the leadoff spot. Though not terrible, former 2nd-overall pick in the 2304 draft, SP Lyle Pine (2-4, 5.33) is not yet ready to be a team's ace. SP Fosdyke Rochambeau (3-1, 2.88) has been the team's best pitcher thus far. Railroad League The top four teams in this league are good, and with Roxbury reemerging, the ML may not have a chance in 2309. The Rad Sox lead Oberland by a game and Egret by two with Vault 81 just five games back. FHE and Diamond City can start preparing for reshuffling their lineups in preparation for coming years. For the Dwellers, they have yo-yoed between playoff success and missing out on the playoffs completely over the past four seasons. In 2306, they made the playoffs as the #1 seed before falling in the SCA Championship Series to Roxbury. They missed the playoffs in 2307, and then returned last season as the third-seed, again reaching the SCACS before falling to Oberland. This season, they are middling, currently 5th in runs scored (163) and 6th in runs allowed (146). The big blow is losing 2B Harry Byrd (.254/3/15) probably for the rest of the 2309 season. They made a trade for 2B Chris Connexx (.250/1/5) to fill in that role but it will be tough without Byrd. 3B Knud Bather (.372/10/34) has been the most productive hitter on the season. Ace Scruffy Taguchi (2-4, 5.05) has also struggled, while SP Exxie Summerset (7-1, 3.08) has been the pitching leader. CBO Standings CBO Players of the Week May 10 - When it came to hitting the baseball, Baktu DaWell had few peers in the North Charles Association this past week. The talented right fielder for Sunshine Tidings tagged opposing pitchers for a .471 average and was voted the Player of the Week Award. Included in his stats were 8 hits in 17 at-bats, 4 homers, 5 runs scored and 5 RBIs. For the season DaWell is hitting .354, batted in 23 runs with 13 home runs and 25 runs scored. Barker Cocoa of the University Point Deathclaws had an award-winning week and today was voted the Player of the Week by the South Charles Association. For the week the 30-year-old first baseman batted .591 (13-for-22) with 7 home runs and 16 RBIs. Currently Cocoa has 16 home runs and a .458 batting average. May 17 - Jacob Tarberry has the tools to stick in this league for many years. The 20-year-old third baseman of the Nahant Celtics had a hot bat in the North Charles Association over the past seven days and won the Player of the Week honors. Tarberry batted .571 with 12 hits in 21 at-bats, 2 home runs and 7 RBIs. So far this year, Tarberry is batting .316 with 8 home runs and 19 RBIs. Missile Crews is respected by most Goodneighbor Hancocks fans for his no-frills style of play. The 20-year-old center fielder went about his business with vigor last week to grab the South Charles Association Player of the Week honors. He compiled a .550 average (11-for-20) with 1 home run, 4 RBIs and 4 runs scored. Posting a .382 batting average to date, Crews has 7 home runs and 19 RBIs. CBO Transactions Monday, May 17th , 2309 Starlight Killers: Placed SP Whokill Poole on the restricted list. Fort Hagen Silver Shroud: Placed 3B Well Done Dungan on the restricted list. Spectacle Island Reapers: Activated CL John Walden from the restricted list. Starlight Killers: Signed RP Bookie Reader. Jamaica Plain Red Rockets: Signed 1B Danny Bricklayer. Goodneighbor Hancocks: Sent RF Ziggy Stardust to Triple A Foxborough for injury rehab. Jamaica Plain Red Rockets: Released 1B Two-tone McGee. Monday, May 10th , 2309 CBO: The league suspended seven players from Atom and Spectacle Island following a post-game scrap. BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, BCAC, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 19 May 2309 South Over North in CYL All-Star Game West Dennis Recreational Field was the place to be for baseball fans tonight, as the best CYL players gathered for the annual all-star game. On the field, the South Region downed the North Region by a score of 7-6. Off the field, game MVP Packs Ton Kling said he thinks everyone had a good night. "You looked into the stands and it seemed like everyone was having a fantastic time," said the 16-year-old, who went 2-for-3 in the game. "A game like this is good for the sport."
