Great win, Hugh! You're having a fine season!!! I think I should have hung onto Young Corbett II a bit longer, as Loris Stecca is 0-18! Just a few wins and I might still have been in wild card contention.

Apologies for the slow progress of Week 9 matches. I've had a rough last week at work and this week is no different. I just got home, but need to go back for OT in 2 hours so I won't be able to run a match and post results tonight.

Hopefully I'll get back on track tomorrow.

Congrats, Scot. My guys have had a pretty good season but it all came down to that one match and you were just too good for us. I hope your team goes far in the playoffs.

UTBA-II Standings

UTBA-II League Standings
(end of Season 3 Week 9)

Heading into the final week of the season, there are still are still a couple playoff spots mathimatically in play: Mendoza Divison winner, Queensbury Division winner, Gold Conference Wild-Card and Silver Conference Wild-Card.

In the Mendoza Divison, the slumping Tomato City team holds a 44-point lead over 2nd place Suffolk Dusk Owls. The two will meet in Week 10. Tomato City won the first meeting by 23.5 points, but the team is in disarray after 2 consecutive losses. The Suffolk Dusk Owls also head into this match coming off a disheartening loss to the Muckboys in Week 9.

In the Queensbury Divison, the Chilton Roughnecks reclaimed 1st place with a dominating 37.5 point victory over the Villebillies and hold a 17-point lead over Juggernaut. Juggernaut has a 3 week winning streak, but their average margin of victory has only been 4.8 point. These two meet in the Week 10 finale. In their first meeting, Chilton Roughnecks came away with a 9-point victory. This may end up being the match of the week.

There is a logjam in the race for the Gold Conference Wild-Card. Bear's Unstable now stands atop the rest, but 5 teams are in realistic striking distance - all within 13.5 points of the leader. Week 10 will see Bear's Unstable taking on the Baltimore Binks, the former Wild-Card leader who now carries a 6 match losing streak down the stretch. Bear's Unstable won their first match by only 4.5 points. But watch out for the Suffolk Dusk Owls, who have a good chance of beating Tomato City in the final week, but not make up enough ground to win the Mendoza Divison. They site only 6.5 points out of the Wild-Card. A big win by the Boxing Kangaroos, Muckboys or Left Jab Inc. in the final week can also vault one of them to the Wild-Card. Left Jab Inc. and the Muckboys face off in Week 10, while the Boxing Kangaroos travel to face the 9-0-0 Bonner Springs Bald Beavers.

The Silver Conference Wild-Card is just about wrapped up by IceTeaBoxing, but stranger things have happened. They head into a showdown with Figg Divison leader Hebron Haymakers for a rematch of their Week 5 match won by IceTeaBoxing by only 3 points. Juggernaut sits 29 points back in the Wild-Card standings, but has its sites on winning the Queensbury Divison instead. The Undisputed Champions are 37.5 points back and the Oakland Assassins trail by 42 points. These two teams also face in the last week in a rematch. The Oakland Assassins won the first match by 16.5 points.

And last, but certainly not least (well maybe...) the battle for the coveted #1 pick in next season's draft will come down to how 2 of the 3 winless teams finish their seasons. After 9 weeks of action, only 0.5 points separate the futility of the Brooks Battlers and Toronto Tornados with the #1 pick currently in the hands of the Toronto Tornados. In Week 10 action, the Toronto Tornados face The Nobodies who beat them by 39.5 points back in Week 5. As for Brooks Battlers, they face Caunt Division leading Nebraska Corn Jabbers who beat them by only 31.5 points back in week 5.

------------------------------------------

The final PfP rankings will be tabulated following Week 10 action to determine the 16 qualifiers in each weight class for the EOY Tournaments which will be conducted following the playoffs. (Playoff wins and losses do not affect the qualifying for the EOY Tournament, but each of the Titles may change hands. If a Title is lost during the playoffs, the fighter that held the Title at the end of the regular season will still be considered the #1 seed in the tournament.)

Good luck to the Roughnecks. It's going to be pretty hard to make up 17. I don't see it happening.

It figures we had to have a crappy week 9.
