Too few. But not surprising. About a decade or so ago when black HC's was a hot topic, I remember how the sports media were such hypocrites on the issue. Cause whenever they had a holiday football game they would often show the whole TV crew. & I noticed there was hardly anyone of color operating a camera, working the sidelines, positioned in the truck or set up in the booth. So they aren't as "progressive" as their soapbox would lead you to believe. They are just as susceptible to hiring who they feel "comfortable" with or who check the "right" boxes on the resume or who knows the "right" people.

This assumes the robots won't have egos too.

About 40,000 at least, I'd assume.

Bit of luck that the Sox draw the Sacramento Solons for their attempt to avoid tying the Orioles for the AL losing-streak record. Then again, the Solons are 19.5 games ahead of the SouthSiders in the standings, even if they are the 2nd worst team in the A.L.

I did not know (until watching Schriffen and Gordon Beckham endure broadcasting last night's pain) that Oakland actually has the 2nd-best record in the AL since July 1st, IIRC. Behind only Kansas City.

Talk about catching a hot team at the wrong time.

The Sox postgame show was just pain. Chuck Garfein clearly lives and dies with the team he covers, and guest Frank Thomas (not the Met, which makes sense, as that Frank Thomas is dead and wouldn't add much to the conversation) was just embarrassed, because it hurts to see his team be this bad.

At one point, Garfein said that he'd be glad to have last season back, even though that team went 61-101. Of course, to match that record, the Sox would need a 34-13 finishing kick, and that hardly seems likely.

Heck, when I predicted they would pull themselves up to something "moderately terrible" like 51-111, I didn't know that they would have to go 24-23 from here on to reach those heights. Even avoiding eclipsing the 1962 Mets (with their Frank Thomas) means that the SouthSiders would have to stabilize and manage 16-31 from here on in. Not great.

If the White Sox fail their next two games in Oakland, thus tying the 1961 Phillies for their record 23-game losing skid, they will fly back to Chicago on Thursday, attempting to avoid having the all-time shame all to themselves by winning on Friday…

…at Wrigley, against the Scrubs. I'm not even a fan, per se, but that would just be grotesque.

(I grant you, the idea of the Scrubs winning any games, ever, makes me a certain amount of queasy, but beyond that.)

Lame! They came so far and then quit just before they could take the Phillies' record away! Boo!

Who else thinks Gleyber Torres has worn out his welcome as a Yankee?

Crazy about his utter, and complete lack of hustle.

Take heart in the fact that the White Sox are back to trying to get the record: three losses in a row and counting.

No matter what happens to a baseball player, beaned with a fastball, or collapsed on the track after running into the fence, or getting run over on the field by a 1981 Ford Fairmont - the trainer always runs out with a towel.

Because with the towel, you can wipe off the tire marks.

But when Jose Tena of the Gnats has his thumb mauled by a baseball with extra saucy spin and is bleeding, the trainer comes out without a towel and has to run back to the dugout.

Maybe 11:30 am is too early a start!

My coach, and many other coaches would tell you to spit on it, and rub in some dirt.

In 2024, you get replaced with Ildemaro Vargas and whisked off to the ER instead.

How on earth do the Chicago teams have a scheduled off-day on a Sunday? Is the Pope visiting or something?

Because the team was playing a two-game interleague series against the Cubs. A weekend set was regarded as a better draw than weeknight games. But two games obviously don't fit into three days well. It'd be either Friday night or Sunday afternoon off, and the latter was chosen.

The Cardinals and Royals didn't play Sunday either for similar reasons.

This won't be happening next year as the 'traditional rival' interleague match-ups are being increased from two 2-game series to two 3-game series. All clubs will be playing 48 interleague games in 2025 instead of 46.
