Also might say something about a much-maligned (somewhat self-inflicted) QB who still has some obvious talent, thrown into a zero-pressure, have-some-fun situation, with a team that also had no real pressure on them. Basically a "let's go out and sling it around see what happens" sitch...

The Thursday night game was basically a repeat of what we saw Monday night with the Bucs and Saints.

Jeez, talk about lack of respect, and then validating it.
The Eagles have the ball on the Giants 41-yard line, and it's 4th and 7. Kick? No. They go for it and Hurts throws a 41-yard touchdown pass. The elite teams in this league can do this type of thing. The rest are pretenders.

How the hell can one QB be allowed to throw 55 passes in a game, with a rating of 63?

Despite disparagement for being surrounded by football prowess, hence his success, they are now talking about Jalen Hurts for MVP.

As a Dolphins fan...
Leading up to the 2020 draft I was hoping the Dolphins would draft 1) Justin Herbert, or 2) anybody other that Tua... My prediction, probably expressed in these threads at some point, was that Tua was a future clipboard holder. For a time this season, I was thinking that I might be wrong. Probably not, but maybe... The last two games are a harsh reminder that I was likely right. And losing to Herbert is especially irritating: We could've had a great young QB. Instead we have Tua. FUTZ!!! Still several weeks to go. I hope this post does not age well. We shall see... |

When teams are losing that badly, they turn to the throwing game. Brady is the QB. Thus he threw a lot of passes. Could they have benched him? Sure. But do you want Blaine Gabbert or Tom Brady to attempt a comeback?

It's hard to fathom that the only team to beat the Eagles so far has been the Commanders (after having been blown out by them Week 3). And three or four of their wins have had margins of victory of a touchdown or less against rather mediocre opponents.
Heh, this is one of the few times that I enjoyed a Stephen A. video. Ryan Clark, who also works for ESPN by the way, walked out on Stephen A. because he wasn't respecting Hurts and the Eagles as much as Clark though he should after their victory over the vastly inferior Giants. Stephen A. actually had a good point; there really wasn't anything to get excited over because everybody, including the Giants, knew what was going to happen. See if you can catch this video on the Eagles news page: https://www.espn.com/nfl/team/_/name...delphia-eagles

4+ yards per attempt in the game. I'll take Donald Duck at that point.

And yet, what is regarded as an atrocious performance passing the ball would be considered an average performance running the ball. Hell, for the Bucs, who are averaging a league worst 3.3 yards per rush attempt behind a decimated offensive line, it'd be considered a good game. Having some balance matters, but the Bucs have a bad RB room and an even worse run blocking line at the moment, and the context of game flow matters as well, given they were down 2 scores by the first play of the second quarter and down 28 by the half. No point running into a wall over and over and play into a weakness for the sake of balance.

I'm sure if Donald Duck was a better option than Brady they might have gone with him. Sadly, DD is stuck in college at Oregon.

Bowles screwed the pooch early on in that game. He did one of the dumbest things in that game. Early on, down 7-0 and at the 49ers 37 yard line 4 and 9. You either punt here and pin them deep, or you go for it. You don't attempt a FG that has 99% chance of failing and giving the ball to the 49ers at the 45 yard line. Bowles is a one and done coach.
