Grichuk Ups Hit Streak to 25 Consecutive Games:

The Alabama Crimson Tide may have proven to be mere mortals today as they lost 5-4 to the UC San Diego Tritons, but Randal Grichuk continued to hit like a god.

The center fielder collected 1 hit in 5 at-bats in the loss and extended his hitting streak to 25 games.

"Grichuk is playing great and is on fire right now," Crimson Tide manager Troy Reher said. "Hopefully his play can spark the rest of our team and help us pick up some wins."

Grichuk was apparently not happy with the game and when pressed by reporters in the locker room only said "nothing else matters but the loss."
Randal Grichuk singled in the 2nd, flied out in the 4th, flied out in the 6th, grounded out in the 8th and struck out in the 11th.

This season Grichuk is swinging the bat at a .259 pace. He has hit 29 home runs and scored 65 times, while driving in 75. His on-base percentage is .318 and he has played in 107 games.

Ennis Slugs 300th Home Run:

Del Ennis hit a historic home run today -- career blast number 300. "I am happy to be in such elite company. It has been quite a ride so far," Ennis said after the game.

The Utes left fielder went 2 for 5 with 1 home run and 1 run batted in as the Utah Utes won 5-1 over the Louisiana Monroe Warhawks.

Ennis is hitting .311 lifetime with 1051 hits, 190 doubles, 14 triples, 300 home runs and 762 RBIs to date. He has scored 637 runs, walked 252 times and has a .364 OBP.

Number 300 for Clark:

Beavers first baseman Tony Clark reached a career milestone yesterday, blasting home run number 300.

He took the achievement in stride. "It's always good to get another home run and even better to get another win," Clark told reporters in the postgame interview.

He went 1-for-4 during the Oregon State 9-3 triumph over the South Alabama Jaguars and scored 2 runs with 2 runs batted in.

Lifetime Clark has hit for a .273 average and totaled 927 hits, 300 home runs and 681 RBIs.

Renfroe Wallops #300:

It was a great day for Hunter Renfroe, but not a good one for his Missouri Tigers. The 29-year-old right fielder reached a personal milestone with his 300th career homer, but it wasn't enough to beat the Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders, who came away with a 8-6 victory. Renfroe finished the day with 1 hit, 3 RBI and 1 run scored.

"Well, I've conceded the fact that you can't will yourself to hit a home run," he said. "I tried hard for the last few days. It was getting to be embarrassing with the crowd standing up every time I came to the plate."

In his career stats Renfroe has compiled a .238 batting average and collected 823 hits, 300 home runs and 687 RBIs.

The Louisville Cardinals defeated the Ohio State Buckeyes 17-2 yesterday in a game that featured Manny Ramirez's 300th career home run.

"Some hitters never live up to the hype," said his manager. "Shohei has definitely lived up to his. He's hammered the heck out of the ball year after year."

The San Francisco star went 1 hit for 1 at-bat during the game, scoring 1 run and had 1 run batted in.

During his career over 85 games and 126 innings, Ohtani has put together a 5-4 record and logged 124 strikeouts. Cardinals Sit Atop National League ACC:

The pennant has been won, the Louisville Cardinals are champions of the National League ACC.

Starting Pitcher Jose Rijo said his team is a "gritty and determined" club that were poised to win the division from day one.

"We knew the day the season opened that we'd be champions," he said. "It was just a matter of going out there and doing it."

At the helm, team manager Ashley Finn said his club is certainly not short on confidence.

"There's a lot of belief in the dugout and in the clubhouse," he said.

Louisville's record currently sits at 109-40 and it's the 3rd division win for the franchise.

McCovey Tags Number 300:

The Oregon Ducks defeated the Memphis Tigers 8-6 yesterday in a game that featured Willie McCovey's 300th career home run.

National League Sun Belt Champs Crowned:

Georgia State Panthers: Fans of the Georgia State Panthers have a lot to get excited about, as the club has captured the National League Sun Belt crown.

It's the 2nd time in franchise history that the club has finished atop the standings and they now have an opportunity to capture the franchise's 1st NCAA championship.

Manager Roland Garcia said there's "a lot of excitement" in Georgia State over the club right now and they hope to live up to expectations.

For his part, third baseman Jimmy T Williams said the division championship is "just a start" for his team.

"We want to go all the way, win the College World Series," he said. "Winning the division - we could get used to this."

Fresno State Captures American League American West Crown:

The owner of the Fresno State Bulldogs has given his club heavy praise after they officially clinched the American League American West title.

"It's an extremely talented and motivated group of ballplayers and I'm so pleased to own this franchise," said Tim Singer. "You'd have a hard time trying to find a better group of guys."

The division title is the 1st for the franchise.

"We appreciate Tim Singer for his kind words and the support he gives us," said starting pitcher Joe Blong. "We want to pay him back by bringing the title to Fresno State."

Miners Win American League CUSA Crown:

Members of the UTEP Miners say they are "100 percent focused" on bringing the first College World Series championship to their organization.

"It's all you think about and all you play for," said starting pitcher Joe Gibbon. "That's what would mean the most."

The Miners have accomplished an important first step, today clinching the American League CUSA, with a 103-53 record, for the 1st time.

Indiana Secures Top Spot in National League Big Ten:

Fans of the Indiana Hoosiers are certainly optimistic regarding their team's chances to become College World Series champions, after it became official that the club has won the National League Big Ten.

"I think our fans think we're the best team in the league and you know what? Our guys think the same thing," said starting pitcher Hi Bithorn. "We've got a real good chance to take this title."

It would be the 1st league championship for the club, which has won the National League Big Ten for the 4th time.

Manager Mike Gradilla said he's spent many years in pro ball, but there's "just something special" about his current group of players.

"This team has got what it takes to be a champion," he said.

Gators Sit Atop American League SEC:

Grown men turned into little boys, some even breaking into tears, in the Florida Gators clubhouse, after the team clinched the American League SEC.

"We can relax a bit, for now anyway," said manager Dave James. "I'm proud of every guy in the room for what we've done this season."

The club has a 99-58 record as they head towards the playoffs in search of their 1st College World Series championship. Starting Pitcher Sergio Gomez said the team is happy to clinch what is the club's 1st division title, but "wouldn't be happy until we're lifting that trophy."

Title Captured - American League Big West Won by Cal State Fullerton:

"We're not done yet!"

That was the resounding sentiment in the Cal State Fullerton Titans locker room when they were told they had clinched the American League Big West title, for the 2nd time. With a 108-50 record, Cal State Fullerton's stars certainly feel like they have a good chance to go all the way.

"We've learned a lot under Enrique Gomez's tutelage this year. He's taught us to never be over-confident, and to play every game like a championship game. I think with him and the team we have, we have a great chance to bring a 1st championship to Cal State Fullerton this year," said starting pitcher Jon Matlack.

300 Homers for Pipp:

It was a historic day for Tulane's fine first baseman Wally Pipp. He slammed home run number 300 in the Green Wave 9-8 loss to the Illinois Fighting Illini at Illinois Field.

He told reporters after the game that he was disappointed in losing the game. "It's great to get that many homers, but I don't play for homers -- I play to win. That's the name of the game."

In his milestone-making game Pipp went 3 for 5, scored 1 run and collected 2 RBI. That home run put him in a select group of ballplayers.

Career-to-date Pipp has rung up a .286 average, played in 802 games and collected 136 doubles, 14 triples and 300 home runs.

Wildcats Win Tight National League Big East Race:

Members of the Villanova Wildcats say they are "100 percent focused" on bringing the first College World Series championship to their organization.

"It's all you think about and all you play for," said first baseman Paul Goldschmidt. "That's what would mean the most."

The Wildcats have accomplished an important first step, today clinching the National League Big East, with a 93-68 record, for the 3rd time.

South Florida Narrowly Wins National League American:

The National League American crown was certainly in question throughout the season, but the South Florida Bulls have now finally claimed it.

With a record of 92-70, the club has won its 1st division title.

"It's special," right fielder Mickey Mantle said when asked to sum up his feelings. "It's easy to take for granted what it's like to be on a winning team, but everyone who has ever been on a loser knows how sweet this is."

Team manager Nate Grear said the focus for his club will now shift towards getting ready for the playoffs, where the team will be trying to win the 1st championship in franchise history.
