Well done!
Similarly, bonine001edd is listed as "Keith Bonine" in the game, but this is Eddie Bonine, Sr. (they're both legally "Eddie Keith Bonine") and that's what it says on his Cramer card: IRL, the Astros left him at AAA Tucson for three seasons before casting him out into the desert, but here they made him part of a package of prospects (Scott Loucks, John Mizerock) they sent to Toronto to reacquire John Mayberry after a 40 HR season in 1980. (Are they mad? Did they forget Mayberry can't hit in the Astrodome?) So Eddie/Keith/whoever is getting his shot, thanks to Canada. |

In looking at Frank Foreman's pictures on-line, I think anyone not manually adding a black handlebar mustache is doing him a great disservice...

Keith Bonine in Astros garb to compare better to the source image... I see the high AAA ERA but it was PCL which I always think of as high offense, but I may be unfairly projecting a current bias back to the late 70s. Mighty have played differently in the Astrodome. I wish him the best in a rotation that clearly needs Steib back ASAP...

Playing in the 1880s for most of his MLB time, Ed Glenn had a fuller mustache in all his pictures but they are all Old Judge cigarette cards that don't work for facegen. At least I was able to clean up the one that was there and then just darken the upper lip to give the impression of said 'stache... Am about a third of the way through the 1901 pack, will keep on it today and over the weekend

Actually, the Jays look as if they'll finish the same as last season (71-91), even with subtracting Mayberry and missing Stieb. Jesse Barfield and Willie Upshaw blossoming has made a difference.
Trying to help is Vernon "Vern" Ramie, who IRL mastered AA Knoxville for several years, but whose flop at Syracuse didn't exactly induce Toronto to ferry him across Lake Ontario. Nothing magical in the game as yet, either. In other "Don't call me 'Vernon'" Jays news, Randy Benson is now 13-11 and with Clancy nursing an injury, seems likely to win the team's pitching triple crown. Huh. |

Seems the new market inefficiency is "Vernons" -- Wait until Toronto scouts Vernon Wells in the years ahead... Here's Vernon Ramie's facegen as he looks to make the most of his time in The Show...

Another from 1901. George Grosart played his last game in 1901 at the age of 21. He passed away the next year. Here's hoping he gets to 1902 in the sim...

George Hogreiver was born 4 years after Appomattox and lived to see JFK inaugurated. In between, he played a little ball for the 1895 Reds and short-lived 1901 Milwaukee Brewers...

I started over with Jerry Hurley using the photo on bRef. Is his mustache a little lopsided? Sure. That's what the turned face does in facegen but I still think it's an improvement...

There are two pictures on bRef for Frank Kitson. The facegen in the game was made from one of them... I used the other one and started over...

Another call-up looking for OF time with the Jays is USC's Creighton Tevlin, who missed his best chance when the Brewers chose not to promote him despite an .819 OPS at AAA Spokane in 1978. (Of course, Milwaukee had a very nice offense that year, and didn't much need reinforcements.) After that, he put in a solid residence in Syracuse, but nothing worth a summons, it seems.
But here's his chance. Fight on, for old SC! Fight on, to victory! |

Your work with these is excellent, by the way. I've avoided black & white pics in the past because I couldn't figure out how to colorize them but after reading some of the comments you've made, I've been able to do it along with using the default texture overlays when necessary. Never knew about those. So thank you for the work you're doing!

But wait, there's more! Came back - wait for it - for 1 game in which he didn't appear for the Jints in 1922, aged 39. Go figure... https://www.baseball-reference.com/p...olanco02.shtml |

Here's Creighton Tevlin. Tougher than I thought it would be be. Needed a texture pack to help neutralize the orange that came with the picture I chose. Maybe I should have gray-scaled it first... but I think it works..
@Slimkibbles - thanks so much for the kind words. As you get used to the sliders, you'll be able to do more and more to colorize and otherwise shape the face in all the small ways that make a difference from centering the nose tip, to making the face less "heavy" to prepping the image for a texture overlay. I had the whole pandemic to work at it and like all the customization aspects of OOTP, it shows how even the world prep part - not just the playing of the game - can be enjoyable.
