Cards news: Deal sends Mikolas and C Jackson to Phillies for reliever Stratton
Looking to get Miles Mikolas off the roster after he refused a demotion to AAA Memphis, the Cardinals have dealt the veteran right-hander along with AAA catcher Zachary Jackson to the Philadelphia Phillies for righty reliever Chris Stratton.
Mikolas pitched well for the Cardinals from 2018 through 2021, but just didn't have it in 2022 going 2-6 in 18 games (15 starts) with a 5.92 ERA. When asked to go work things out Mikolas refused leading to the trade. In Stratton, the Cardinals are receiving a 31-year-old reliever who also has had a rough 2022. He has pitched for both Miami and the Phillies, going 1-6 with a 6.28 ERA in 6.28 ERA in 18 games (seven starts). In Jackson, a 24-year-old catcher, the Cardinals are giving up a solid prospect who started the season on the major league roster. However, he struggled in his opportunity hitting just .133 with one homer and three RBIs in 17 games. He has played well at Memphjs, batting .357 with 13 homers and 40 RBIs in 46 games. But he is ranked second on the team's depth chart by Patrick Winkel. Last edited by rink23; 10-29-2018 at 02:58 AM. |

Cards news: Swanson placed on DL; Errol Robinson called up from Memphis
The St. Louis Cardinals have placed shortstop Dansby Swanson on the 10-day disabled list after he suffered a knee injury running the bases in an 8-5 loss to the San Francisco Giants on July 13.
Swanson is batting .261 on the season with five homers and 26 RBIs in 87 games for the Cardinals. This will be the first trip for Robinson to the big leagues in 2022. He was hitting .255 for the Redbirds with five homers and 28 RBIs in 77 games. |

Cards news: Uribe sent to AAA Memphis; starter Gingery called up
The St. Louis Cardinals have sent right-handed relief pitcher Alfredo Uribe to AAA Memphis, to allow right-hander Stephen Gingery to move up and join the team's starting rotation.
Patrick Corbin's rough outing in a recent 8-5 loss to the Giants led to his demotion to the bullpen and paved the way for Gingery's call up. Gingery, who was acquired from Houston in a trade earlier this season, is 3-2 for the Redbirds with a 4.34 ERA in eight starts. Uribe, who was signed as a free agent out of Mexico in the offseason, has 2-0 with a 4.26 ERA in 35 games. |
