Thanks for all you both do. I am yet to use one of these databases but plan to this year.

My questions are (with excitement, curiosity, and plenty of patience) will a real debut no asians come out for OOTP 12 (including career minor leaguers)? And, are Ichiro, Dice-K, etc. included in the no asians database?

Thanks again.

I will have two versions of the database. The 1st will be my standard with players debuting when they made their professional debut in the correct organizations, correct organizations upon import, career minor leaguers and the top ~50 historical japanese players. Dice-K, Ichiro etc will import when they made their foreign debut.

The second version is a tweaked database that works with real transactions turned on, this includes all major leaguers and a good portion of the minor leaguers (the minor leaguers had to be in a MLB organization at some point). Players will import either when they joined their 1st MLB organizations (minors or majors). For players who were drafted or signed during the season, they will import as Free Agents at the beginning of the year and the transaction database will add them to their teams as the season progresses. For example David Clyde will import in 1973 as a Free Agent and in June go to the Rangers. This will also implement the work around for players importing to the correct teams or as a Free Agent as of opening day for the import year. (The real stats will look weird as an additional team is added in some cases). So players who were signed in May will import as Free Agents on opening day.

Both these databases need to use the neutralized stats option and the 2nd version will also function fine without real transactions used. The 2nd version is closest to the "No asians" version Spritze creates.

I will be sending the 1st version to Padres site shortly and hope to finish the 2nd version sometime today also.

*The Gambo/Spritze database uses the same data as the Spritze DB.

Does it means that you have created more minor league players who never reach the major league this year? By exemple guy like Tim Barker who was trade for Tim Wallach in 92 or Mario Brito who was part of the Tim Raines / Ivan Calderon trade in 90.

Yes and no. The database only contains the guys who Spritze has already done MLB equivalencies for. But if they were already in Spritze's database I tried to get them to match in the transaction database.

Tim Barker is not in it. BUT Mario Brito is as Spritze did him for his time in Foreign leagues. So his transactions are there.

Ahhh my favorite time of the year, when the various Spritze and Gambo databases are complete and I can start using OOTP for historical play again - much appreciation to both of you for all your hard work!

Rookie Question: What is the difference between this database of players and that which ships with the game? Never mind...just read the first page of this thread. Re-phrase: For those gamers playing historical replays with RL lineups and transactions, is this database more precise than that which ships with the game?

I think not. Make no difference to a strictly Major League replay.

Actually, a little bit more. The historical transaction file has a few updates that are not in the version that ships with the game. There are VERY few and likely you would not notice them unless you are playing in the deadball era.

I am working on an update, with the help of M's Rule, (this has part of these) that has some enhancements such as specific dates for players leaving and returning from the military, players who died during the season leaving the team on the correct dates, removal lines for those who don't wan't to play with retire according to history and hopefully we will get in league suspensions (only for instances off the field such as drugs, gambling).

First, thanks to both of you for all the work on these databases. They're really great. However, I did come a piece of corrupt data. I was setting up a historical league starting in 1961 using the new Gambo-Spritze DB (without transactions), and the game was telling me that one of the players was named Allegheny County" Bob (with the quote mark included. I took a look at the master.csv file, and the player should be Bob Purkey. Somehow the phrase 'Allegheny County"' wound up in the first name field, and 'Bob' is in the last name field. I don't know if any of the other data for Purkey is off. A lot of the numbers don't seem to match the Lahman version of the file, but I attributed that to neutralizing the stats.

I checked some other versions of both the Gambo-Spritze and the Spritze databases for OotP12, and they all contain bad data. It's no big deal to fix once I figured out who it was supposed to be, but I figured it was best to let you know.

Thanks again for the hard work.

Thanks, FYI search for quote marks/commas and you'll find all the name errors. There should be no quotes in the base master.csv that comes from the new OOTP guy who changed the names and other base info but he has included a few which is the root cause of your (and our) troubles.

I found six of them in the DB I'm using: Lou Gehrig (!), Harry Little, Bob Purkey, John Simmons, Joe Tepsic, and George Ulrich. I removed the historical database.odb and restarted the league using just the edited csvs. I now see the usefulness of the odbs. The initial load takes forever with the csvs.

The easy way is to put the files in your stats folder after unzippering of course.

Then just create a new game.
