MLB news: Sept. 20 -- Twins are second team to clinch trip to playoffs

With a 6-2 victory over the Boston Red Sox, the Minnesota Twins have joined their American League Central Division-rival Detroit Tigers as the second team to assure themselves a place in the postseason.
At 90-60, the Twins own the second-best record in baseball but still find themselves trailing the division leading Tigers by four games with 12 games left in the season.
Minnesota owns an 11-game lead over Cleveland, also from the AL Central, in the race for the top wild-card berth.
The Twins will be the postseason for the fourth consecutive season.
Minnesota has not reached the World Series since 1991, when it defeated the Atlanta Braves in seven games.
