The Cincinnati Wildcats had reason to celebrate as 26-year-old pitcher Jesse Tannehill delivered a no-hitter against the New York Saints at Wildcats Field. Tannehill struck out three and allowed no walks in the 4-0 victory.

The only blemish on Tannehill’s otherwise perfect outing was a fielding error in the second inning, which prevented him from achieving a perfect game.

"He mixed his pitches well and hit his spots, plus he got a little help from above," said Wildcats manager Malachi Beacham. "Jesse really took it to another level today."

Tannehill has been a key player for Cincinnati this season, recording a 5-2 record and a 2.19 ERA in seven starts.

Swartwood, a lifetime Saint since being drafted in 1881, has compiled a .306 batting average and .399 on-base percentage over his illustrious career. He has amassed 2,314 hits, 362 doubles, 176 triples, 75 home runs, 1,270 RBIs, and 1,396 runs scored. Swartwood was instrumental in the Saints’ five World Series championships.

Jack Taylor pitched a gritty game for the Cincinnati Wildcats, blanking the Brooklyn Hitmen in a 3-0 victory. Despite admitting that his stuff was "sub-par," Taylor was able to shut down the Hitmen, allowing only seven hits and striking out two batters.

"I didn’t feel quite right today, but I got a lot of help to get through," Taylor said after the game. "I trusted my catcher and the guys behind me bailed me out more than once when I screwed up."

Taylor’s performance improves his record to 5-3 on the season, with an impressive 1.52 ERA. Despite his modest assessment, the win adds to his strong campaign for the Wildcats.

The Philadelphia Thunder will be without standout left fielder Billy Hamilton for at least three weeks after he suffered a strained abdominal muscle during a game against the Cincinnati Wildcats. While the injury is considered day-to-day, the team has decided to place Hamilton on the injured reserve list to allow him time to recover.

Hamilton has been having an outstanding season, hitting .400, though he has yet to hit a home run. His absence will be a significant blow to the Thunder's lineup as they look to stay competitive.

Detroit Lakers first baseman Klondike Douglass will be sidelined for 6-7 weeks after fracturing his thumb in today's 6-5 loss to the Columbus Bandits. Douglass was hit by a pitch and was forced to leave the game.

This season, Douglass has been a key contributor for the Lakers, batting .353 with one home run, 27 runs scored, and 18 RBIs in 34 starts. His extended absence will leave a hole in Detroit's lineup as they look to adjust without him.
