Thank you. You have my gratitude. It is good stuff. I would post from my newly promoted to L2 dynasty; but I have 0 readers.

I wish I hadn't. It must get boring with all these references to a certain person - so I won't ever make reference to him again.

The 2nd half of the Raider game will be starting about at the time you wake up.

Just posting screenshots in my thread got three people to post, so I think you would end up with more readers than me somehow.

It's not going to be shown here. Although Five have the rights, because it is a later start than normal, it would run into the kiddies programmes, and they won't allow that. Don't ask why, IMO it would be like showing the FA Cup final and cutting the game off just as the penalty kicks start.

We won't get SNF games either for the first half of the season, because they are showing SNB.

I think Santa Tex may make an appearance in the avatar soon.

This is the article it comes from - http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/a...=.jsp&c_id=tex

Clemente nod tops for Teixeira
His off-field legacy more important than on-field work

By T.R. Sullivan / MLB.com

Rangers first baseman Mark Teixeira received a jolt of reality at an early age. He was 16 and a star baseball player at Baltimore's Mount St. Joseph High School when childhood friend Nick Liberatore was killed in a car accident.

Teixeira has never forgotten that.

"When you're 16 years old, you realize what is important in life when your best friend is killed in a car accident," Teixeira said. "Baseball games don't matter that much and that's what you have to realize as you grow older."

The memory of his best friend is one of the driving forces behind the Mark Teixeira Charitable Fund-Communities Foundation of Texas. Created by Teixeira and his wife, Leigh, the foundation has donated six scholarships to three Dallas-Fort Worth high schools.

The model was the Nick Liberatore Memorial College Grant that Teixeira had already established at his high school and the scholarships are just a part of a wide range of philanthropic endeavors that he and Leigh have become involved in within the community.

"It's very important to me," Teixeira said. "The things I do off the field are much more important than the things I do on the field. This is a game that people love to watch and it's also a business, but when I'm done playing, people will forget about me as the player. I want people to remember me for what I've done off the field to help make people's lives better."

In doing so, Teixeira is the Rangers' nominee for the prestigious 2006 Roberto Clemente Award. The winner from among the 30 nominees will be announced at the World Series.

The award recognizes the player who best exemplifies the game of baseball, sportsmanship, community involvement and the individual's contribution to his team. It is named in honor of the former Pirates outfielder whose spirit and goodwill will always be remembered. Clemente died in a plane crash while attempting to transport relief supplies to earthquake-stricken Nicaragua on Dec. 31, 1972.

"Being nominated for an award like this is bigger to me than something like Player of the Year or winning a Gold Glove," Teixeira said.

Teixeira's foundation not only provides college scholarships. He and Leigh have also become actively involved in Habitat For Humanity, Children's Medical Center of Dallas, Cook-Childrens Hospital and the Boys & Girls Club of America. They were also involved in visiting local shelters in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

The Rangers Triple Play fund-raiser has been hosted by Teixeira and his wife the past four years and this year's event raised over $140,000 for college scholarships, Habitat for Humanity homes and youth ballparks in the Metroplex.

"Anytime I see a little kid smile or a high school student smile because of a scholarship or an autographed baseball at a hospital makes it all worthwhile," Teixeira said. "My foundation is at a very young stage helping a bunch of different people, whether it's college scholarships, children's hospitals or the Boys & Girls Clubs. I just want to help as many people as possible and see where this goes."

The memory of a childhood friend burns strong.
