Johnson Batters Mitchell For 11th Defense
October 6th, 1906
Jack Johnson (22-1) scored a UD15 over #2 Charley Mitchell (19-6) to retain the LBA title. Johnson set the tone of the fight quickly, dropping Mitchell in the first. He bloodied Mitchell's nose in the 4th and dropped him again in the 6th. Mitchell started carrying his hands low in the 8th and his right eye started to swell due to a cut in the 9th. Johnson put it on cruise control from there and coasted to an easy victory. I had it 148-137. Walt Arnold, ringside, had it 147-138. The official judges had it 148-136/149-137/147-138. On the undercard HW - Ed Dunkhurst (14-12-2) MD10 Steve Taylor (9-13) HW - Mike Brennan (11-13) KO7 Jack Graham (6-2) (Graham fought as a HW in this loss) WW - Tommy West (6-0) TKO 2 Drazen Basic (TC) (0-3) (West fought pre-prime in this club fight) HW - Syd Hughes (4-6-1) KO6 Oliver Williams (3-2-1) (Williams fought as a beginner in this club fight) WW - Billy Devine (3-11-3) SD10 harry Lewis (3-10-1) (club fight) |

Butler Retains Title
October 11th, 1906
Joe Butler (21-4-1) won a UD15 over #10 Charles Goff (10-2-2) for his 2nd defense of the LBC Middleweight title. This fight appeared to be the mismatch everyone thought it was at first. Butler won the first 6 round by a wide margin. Cutting Goff under both eyes and on the mouth. Goff also started carrying his hands low. Goff turned the tide a little in the 7th & 8th, closing the distance and landind inside blows. Butler won the 9th and then to the amazement of a stunned crowd was dropped in the 10th. After a lecture in the corner, Butler won the next three rounds and cruised the rest of the way. I had it 145-138. Shane McLeod, ringside, had it 144-141. The official judges had it 145-140/145-140/143-141. On the undercard MW - Jack Bonnor (15-13) KO4 Jack Moffat (7-4) LHW - Morris Harris (5-6) TKO4 Billy McColl (6-5) LW - Jack Daly (6-0) MD8 Simon Kidd (TC) (0-5) (Daly fought pre-prime in this club fight) HW - Bill Squires (6-10) KO3 Heriberto Rojas (1-6-2) (Rojas fought pre-prime in this club fight) LW - Billy Frazier (11-16-1) KO8 Charles McCarthy (4-18-1) (club fight) |

Meyer Finally Break Through
October 19, 1906
#3 Billy Meyer (20-3-3) scored a UD15 over Champ George Lavigne (18-7-1) to win the LBC Lightweight Championship. This was Meyer's 3rd attempt to win a title and finally broke through with a big win. Meyer took control of this fight in the 4th when he dropped Lavigne twice and almost ended the fight, but Lavigne held on until the bell. Lavigne's left eye began to swell shut in the 8th, but then he started to battle back, winning 4 of the next 5 rounds. In the 12th, Lavigne had Meyer helpless on the ropes and it looked for a second the fight might be stopped. When the bell rang Meyer staggered to the wrong corner before correcting himself. He recovered to win the 13th and 14th rounds and seal the fight. I had it 144-141. Shane McLeod ringside had it 143-143 (due to the ringside experts inability to score a round lower than 10-8). The official judges had it 144-141 (twice) and 143-142. On the undercard HW - Jem Mace (9-4-1) UD10 John Knifton (14-12) LHW - Al Weinig (7-6) UD10 Al Kaufman (3-6) FW - Oscar Gardner (7-0) TKO4 Simon Curthall (TC) (0-4) (Gardner fought pre-prime in this club fight, with the win moves to prime and up to the main division) LHW - Dan Flynn (2-1-1) MD6 PJ Rentzler (6-12-2) (Flynn fought as a beginner in this club fight) BW - Thomas Palmer (11-15-1) UD10 Johnny Reagan (2-11) (club fight) |

Coulon Enters Rankings At #1
October 27th, 1906
Johnny Coulon (10-0) scored a UD10 over ex-champ Billy Plimmer to enter the LBA rankings at #1. Coulon appears primed to fight for a championship in 1907. Coulon dominated the fight from the outset, knocking Plimmer down in the 4th on route to a rout. The judges scored it 98-91 twice and 99-90. but it wasn't that close. Makes me think during my EOY report I should do like a ESPN Next list. Coulon would probabley be #1 on it. |

Coburn Stuns The Heavyweight World
November 2nd, 1906
#6 Joe Coburn (15-7-4) got off the canvas to score a UD15 over Champ Peter Jackson (23-4). Coburn came out fast almost winning the first and actually winning 3 of the first 5 rounds. His lip was cut in the second. Then in the 6th he got caught with a good shot the dropped him but he clinched and moved to get out of the round. His left eye began to swell shut. He fought close in the 7th, then won the 8th-10th. Jackson seemed to feel the fight slipping away from him and fought with a sense of urgency and won the 11th and 12th. Jackson's corner made a mistake then telling him he had won the fight. Coburn pressed and won the final 3 rounds to take home the belt. I had it 144-141 as did ringside expert Walt Arnold. The official judges had it 145-141/144-143/143-142. On the undercard HW - Dominic McCaffrey (15-7-3) UD10 Joe Goss (10-2-1) HW - Jack Burns (10-1) UD10 Joe Goddard (8-13) LHW - Larry Temple (3-0) TKO Vincent Goss (TC) (0-4-1) (Temple fought as a beginner in this club fight) LHW - Dan Flynn (3-1-1) UD6 Mogens Ringe (TC) (0-3) (Flynn fought as a beginner in this club fight) LHW - Jim Jeffords (5-8) UD10 Jack Stewart (5-12-3) (club fight) |

Root Steals Win Against O'brien
November 8, 1906
#4 Jack Root (22-6-1) scored a TKO10 over Champ Jack O'Brien (16-2-1) in a controversial bout. O'Brien dominated the fight from the outset using defense to keep Root away. Root was never able to get inside. Root started to tire in the middle round carrying his hands low in the 5th. Root caught O'Brien with a nice shot to the right eye in the 10th which opened a cut. The referee and doctor looked it over and stopped the fight. Boos rained down and Root had to be escorted from the ring. The LBC held an emergency meeting and declared a first ever mandatory rematch be held at the earliest possible date. Every score card had it 89-82 O'Brien at the time of the stoppage. On the undercard LHW- George Gardner (14-7-2) UD10 Charley Stevenson (3-5) FW - Black Griffo (2-4-1) UD10 Marty McCue (5-10) MW- Billy Papke (6-0) UD8 George Fulijames (11-14) (Papke fought pre-prime in this club fight) FW - Billy O'Donnell (5-0-1) KO2 Fred Baxter (TC) (0-4) (O'Donnell fought pre-prime in this club fight) FW - Joe Bernstein (5-11-2) DRAW10 Jimmy Briggs (6-8-2) |

Thanks guys, I really wish I had the time and know how to set up a web site ... that may be a plan this summer. I have some guys about ready to retire, I'd say within the next calender year. Every year it gets tougher due to the amount of fighters I'm building up to.
Plus thanks to freaking Dean (jk) I have like 100 new fighters coming in at the beginning of 1907. I'm a fan of the setup and stat keeping though. I will say like always though, I owe alot of my dynasty to Cube, his help with scheduling saved it for me. It was so detailed that I might not of come up with anything close on my own. Young Peter Jackson wins close fight to retain title
November 14th, 1906
In a change of pace this month the champion Young Peter Jackson (9-3) scored a UD15 over #2 Rube Ferns (17-8). It was a closer fight than the outcome indicated. According to my scorecard, Jackson started fast winning 3 out of the first five rounds. The 3rd was even and Ferns took the 2nd, splitting Jackson's lip in the process. Ferns battled back taking the 6th, 8th and 9th, while losing the 7th and 10th. Ferns left eye started to swell shut in the 7th. At this point I had it 5-4-1 in favor of the champ so 96-95. Ferns came out and won the 11th and the 12th, swelling Jackson's right eye in the process. After 12 I had it 115-114 Ferns and the momentum was definitely in Rube's favor. Jackson won a squeaker in the 13th and then pounded Ferns in the 14th. The final point total was 28-0 in the 14th. I decided to score this one 10-8. This made it 134-132 and left Ferns needing a knockout to win. The ringside expert George Thorn, however, had it even at 133. Jackson went defensive and lost the 15th. I had it 143-142. Thorn had it the other way. The official judges had it Champ One 143-142 (scored the 14th 10-8), Champ Two had it 144-142 (scored the 14th 10-9), and the random 3rd judge had it 143-142 (scored the 14th 10-8). At this point I have to say the judging is excellent. If all 3 had scored it 10-8 I'd of been disappointed, but because 2 did this fight was a UD instead of a draw. I was hoping at least one judge saw it that way but 2 was probably perfect, leaving that one judge thinking no knockdown, no 10-9. On the undercard WW - Kyle Whitney (8-0-1) MD10 Honey Mellody (9-10) BW - Joe Wagner (8-5) TKO8 Billy Rotchford (7-4) (welcome to the big leagues Rotchford) WW - Kid Graves (5-0) UD6 Otto Sieloff (2-14-1) (Graves fought as a beginner in this club fight) BW - Kid Murphy (5-0) KO2 Elver Sewell (TC) (0-4) (Murphy fought as a beginner in this club fight) HW - Tug Wilson (7-16-1) SD10 Mervine Thompson (7-13-2) (club fight) ***note - it's fight's like this one that make me love this game even more. |

Ryan Cruises Again
November 17th, 1906
The P4P #1 fighter Tommy Ryan (26-0) scored a KO11 over #1 Joe Walcott (14-10-3). Ryan controlled the fight from the start. He was cut over the right eye in the 2nd. From that point on he battered Walcott. swelling up Walcott's right eye in the 5th, cutting him under his left eye in the 9th and knocking him down and out in the 11th. Ryan was way ahead on the scorecards when the fight was over. *** note Ryan will most definitely be one of the candidates to move up after the year. Since the new chart was made I figure at the end of each year a certain # of fighters will have a chance to move up. On the undercard LW - Freddie Welsh (9-0) TKO2 Frank Erne (8-1-2) (Erne seperated his shoulder early in the 2nd) BW - Dennis McFadden (4-7-1) SD10 Frankie Neal (10-15-2) WW - Jack Willis (3-1) KO1 Eric Hill (TC) (0-4) (willis fought as a beginner in this club fight) HW - Steve Reynolds (6-1-2) UD8 Dan McCarty (1-15-2) (Reynolds fought PP in this club fight) LHW - Duncan McDonald (9-13-1) SD10 Fred Robinson (5-17-4) (club fight) |

I think so, what I will probably do is pick 3 fighters in each weight who have a 50/50 chance of moving up. If they do then use the chart Gunsmoke listed. It'll be fighters with A) nothing left to prove like Ryan, B) just can't seem to win the championship or C) Good record and just can't seem to get a title shot.

Should be a good one ..... I'm pulling for McAuliffe. I can't put my finger on it but I just don't like Gans in my universe. It's not that he doesn't have any power, because alot of fighters don't but it seems he just eeks by and yet is 23-1-1. Both the loss and the draw coming to Jack Blackburn. I find myself rooting against Gans every time out. Guess I needed a villian
