Rookie Philadelphia Phillies' catcher Leads NL to Win in Annual All-Star Game Major League Baseball put its best players on the field today, and the game certainly showed that. In the annual Midseason Classic, the NL came out over the AL by a final score of 6-2. Leading the way for the NL All-Stars was catcher Jimmie Foxx. Lou Gehrig, who led the NL in doubles with 52 last year, chipped in a 2-run single for Philadelphia in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the first baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 2 runs scored, and 3 runs batted in. "We didn't put up much resistance," said losing manager Gil Glynn.
