Series Preview: WAS Nationals @ Nationals Park (2-Games)

A short 2-game series is on hand in DC.
Adam Eaton is always a player to watch when we play him.
A nice place to test out the new lineup with Donaldson and Seager in it.
Syndergaard and Kershaw will start this series as the Mets get ready for August as we get set to begin the road to the Pennant Chase.

Nationals Park

We had a 6-0 lead, then the Nationals score 6 runs in the 6th. (AI CHEATS!)
But Charlie Blackmon, in place of an injured Bryce Harper, hits a 3-run blast in the 9th to give the Mets the win!
Noah Syndergaard gave up 5 runs on 8 hits, but I should have taken him out earlier when it looked like he was in trouble.
Zach Britton got the win, his 3rd.
Welcome to the Big Apple, Josh Donaldson, who hits his 1st HR as a Met and his 34th overall.
Mike Trout had the hot bat tonight as he went 3-4 with 2 RBIs and a walk.
Always crazy when the Mets and Nats get together.

So we finish July with a 19-5 record and are in firm command of the NL East.
That will not change as we will probably clinch the division before the end of the month easily.
Still have that losing record in 1-run games, so I am still very concerned about the Postseason.
Our upcoming schedule for August has us playing versus: WAS, ATL, CIN, MIA, BAL, PHI, SF, WAS, CHC and SF!
Oh yeah, Bryce Harper is just DTD for 2 days, nothing serious.

Clayton Kershaw didn't need much as the lineup took care of business today.
Kershaw went 8 and gave up 1 run on 3 hits.
The Mets got 19 hits today.
Three by Corey Seager, in his 1st start as a Met, Buster Posey and Josh Donaldson, who also hit his 2nd HR as a Met.
Donaldson also had 5 RBIs to lead the team.
Giancarlo Stanton smacked his 25th HR of the season as well.
We take both against WAS and boy does it feel good.

Series Preview: ATL Braves @ Citi Field (4-Games)

We have a long weekend series versus the Braves in the Big Apple coming up.
Everytime we play ATL, weird things happen.
Ozzie Albies, Ender Inciarte and Dansby Swanson are the guys to be careful with at the plate.
Luis Gohara is the ace and we will face him this weekend.
The Braves have talent and they can play some ball.
Strasburg, Sale, Kluber and Syndergaard will get the calls for this rivalry set of games.

Citi Field

Stephen Strasburg goes 7 innings and gives up 2 runs on 5 hits, while sending 9 batters back to the dugout.
The bullpen closed the game out with Zach Britton earning his 2nd save.
Buster Posey (15) and Gary Sanchez (12) went deep with Gary going 3-4 and a RBI, having one of his better nights this season.
Close game, but we do get the win.

Citi Field

Chris Sale gets the least amount of run support when he pitches.
So today, he made sure he didn't need much.
He gives up 4 little hits and strikes out 10 to get his 13th win.
Aaron Judge blasted 2 HRs, his 22nd and 23rd to cap a 3-4 night with 2 RBIs.
Carlos Correa hit his 13th and Jose Altuve hit his 16th.
Another nice win over the Braves.

Citi Field

Thanks to a big solo HR by Mike Trout in the 8th, the Mets come away with the win.
Corey Kluber goes 6 innings and gives up a run on 2 hits.
He was rolling along, but ATL Brandon McCarthy pitched almost as well,
Andrew Miller got his 3rd win of the year and Ken Giles got his 5th save.
Trout's 29th HR was the difference maker in this one while he and Freddie Freeman had 2 hits today.
We sweep the Braves and now look forward to the next series.

We start August at 4-0.
The acquisitions of Josh Donaldson and Corey Seager, I believe, will be enough to win the whole thing.
No matter what the AI tries to do.
Our magic number is 14, we could clinch the NL East as early as the middle of next week.

Going into August, lets see what is going on:
ALE: TOR has closed to within 2 games of BOS.
ALC: The Twins and Indians are still not getting any further away from each other.
ALW: TEX, LAA, HOU and OAK still have their eyes on the prize.
NLE: The Mets could clinch within 10 days!
NLC: The Cubs are still in command.
NLW: The LAD are beginning to get some distance between themselves and SD and ARZ.

Series Preview: CIN Reds @ Citi Field (3-Games)

The Reds are only 1 of 2 teams that took a series from us.
How did that happen months ago? (AI CHEATS!)
Have to watch Scooter Gennett, Billy Hamilton and Jose Paraza, for these guys can hit.
No pitching at all though.
Syndergaard, Kershaw and Strasburg are the guys for this series.
Which I want some serious payback for!
