There's something about "Canada Day" that just sounds funny to me. In the US, we don't have "America Day" or "United States Day", we have "Independence Day". "Canada Day" sounds a little like "Fhomess Day" to me. It's not "Fhomess Day", it's simply my birthday. That said, if "Fhomess Day" entitled me to a small percentage of everyone's salary, I'd be all for it.

I thought they were finally granted independence in the 80's. I could be totally wrong though.

I have not, however it appears to only be a short 2 1/2 hour drive from my house. Is that where you're from? Or just a particularly boring part of WI?

Elizabeth II is still the Queen of Canada, appoints the Governor General, who in terms appoints the Prime Minister and Cabinet.

Heck, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are over there right now to help celebrate Canada Day.

Canada is it's own sovereign nation though.

what they realy need is to mate the graphics of the MLB.com Gameday for IPAD to OOTP. THEN you would have a killer app. "Putting the game in Gameday"
I was watching the Pirates game last night on my IPad and I was struck how natual a presentation it would be for OOTP. The stadium backgrounds, the pop-in, pop-out lineup and stat windows; the pitches being represented graphically. WOW. How about it Markus? Or Curt? Or whomever? I will play "Cliff Floyd's OOTP Gameday for Ipad2" if I have to

Canada gained it's independence in 1982. Question answered.

It is still apart of the Commonwealth, which means the Queen is the Sovereign, and it acts on its own only by agreement. I do believe all the laws the Parliament passes still requires a form of Royal Ascent, in the form of a signing by the royally appointed Gov General.

The way it is sovereign in all these areas technically and legally, is that the Queen has a seperate title to act as the Sovereign of Canada. She is not the head of Canada by being the Queen of the United Kingdom, but rather she is the Queen of Canada, and I believe the only other member of the Canadian royal family is the prince regent, which in the modern case is the Prince of Wales, Charles. None of the other members of the British royal family are part of the Canadian royal family.

Career stats

123 G, 33-60 record, 5.23 ERA, 1.52 WHIP, .497 BABIP

The ironic thing was he won the World Series with the NYY in 1995 going 11-6 that season and with one start in the postseason taking a loss.

He suffered a CEI at 30 years old.

I am a huge Sox fan and this was just wrong
This is interesting. I'm new to the OOTP universe, so perhaps this has been brought up somewhere, but does OOTP track injuries in such a way that if you can get reoccurring injuries based on previous injuries? I.e. your propensity to get the same kind increases?

Great thread. Cool Curt is here and VERY thankful he started 38 for I've missed some old games I played when young and he keeps the up for younger folks and old folks that lost their original copies. Thanks!

No, Elizabeth does not appoint the GG, the Prime Minister does that.

The GG does not appoint the PM, he gets elected same as the cabinet does.

1967 is the year we got our own flag.

1982 was when the Canada Act (Constitution) was passed by British Parliment, ending all remaining dependance of Canada on the UK.

Yes it is, I was just getting ready to share my neat Curt Schilling story. I'll tell it anyway.

Loved Statis-Pro Baseball as a kid but over the course of the years and all the moving around I ended up losing my game and season cards. Several years ago I decided to see if I could find one on Ebay, and of course there was several out there to bid on. It was the full game with the 1991 Season Cards. Won the bid and was pumped to get the game.

The player cards were still in sheets and had never been separated. I separated them into their respective teams but came upon this one card that was different. This card had writing on the back of it, it what looked like roller ball or fine tip felt black pen. The players' card was Curt Schilling and HE HAD SIGNED THE BACK OF IT!! On top of that....Avalon Hill had printed (in smaller print) on the front of the card Curt's Advanced Squad Leader A.R.E.A. rating.

I'm still not sold on the long term viability of the gaming market on the iPad simply due to American's short attention spans.

Now, if you were to approach Playstation or Microsoft in an attempt to get a downloadable version of OOTP on their console's online services that would be a better direction to go IMO as you'll be reaching a far larger audience who are more dedicated to games. Most people who play games on the iPad and iPhone are casual gamers who will be turned off by the level of depth OOTP goes into.

It's just a genre that gets little to no publication, on air time, or even notice at E3. That's the problem. You're not just trying to introduce a new game to a market, you're trying to introduce a whole different style of game in a market that is heavily dominated by EA and 2k. Even developers with deep pockets and industry connections can't compete with those two. The only company that has had any real success trying to break through was Sony themselves and that is in large part because they own the console.

I think America's short attention span is exactly why that kind of game would work on a iphone/ipad.... I have a dozen games on my phone that I bought and have played maybe twice..

And our genre of games could certainly benefit from having well known big name athletes attached to them.
