Hey Mike, thanks for asking. We currently have the Valencia Suns and the New Orleans Crawdads available. Both are going to be rebuild projects.

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

MBBA Stars ready for new blood!

The Monty Brewster Baseball Association is a long running (20th season) fictional/historical hybrid league that is built upon the activity and personality of its owners. Without getting real wordy, we're looking for someone who is fun, active, into his baseball, and will bring a something to the MBBA.

The Valencia Stars are one of the up and coming young teams in the MBBA. Currently at 45-45 as the MBBA heads into the All-Star break, the Stars are in last place in a very strong Johnson League Pacific Division but are just four games out of first place.

This is a unique opportunity to step into an established league with an active community, and take over the reigns of a team that is not only a very promising young team, but also an immediate pennant contender.

Interested? Visit our Forums, and then fill out an application. Any further questions? PM me on these boards if you'd like.

Hope to see a few of you soon! Just because Valencia is the only team open now doesn't mean there aren't possibilities. We're going to launch some associations with the new game format when that happens. It's a very exciting time to get involved with the MBBA!

In lieu of a ham sandwich, Jews can receive a half eaten kosher hot dog.

MBBA needs two new owners!

Greetings, fellow OOTP'ers. I'm here today to tell you a little about the MBBA (Montgomery Brewster Baseball Association) and why it is a great place to be. We are currently using OOTP6.12, but have plans to switch over to OOTP 2006 as soon as it becomes more stable.

First, the Premise:
JANUARY 1973: Major League Baseball passes the Designated Hitter rule for use in the American League on a trial basis. Oakland owner Charlie Finley lobbied hard for the rule and his counterparts obliged. The National League did not approve the rule, and were far from alone in opposing it. Many Americans were against the latest thing to disrupt the National Pastime. In 1969, Curt Flood successfully challenged the reserve clause in baseball, beginning arbitration. Challenges to bring about true free agency for players are lurking on the horizon. Along the way, a society for preservation of the National Pastime was formed. The society decided to launch their own baseball league that would abolish the Designated Hitter and fix financial and player association problems before they arose. "Businessman" Montgomery "Monty" Brewster, who has come into millions of dollars from a deceased uncle, donated the money to the league and is the society's chairman. The MBBA will consist of 2 leagues of 12 teams divided into 3 divisions each. Expansion will be considered as league continues. Owners must have the leagues current version of OOTP and may only control 1 team. Violations of these or any rules described below may merit league enforced punishment, or in extreme cases, banishment from the MBBA. This is a league "for the owners, by the owners", so the majority of our rules are determined by the owners in a democratic spirit. We are all assumed to be in various degrees of maturity and will be expected to dust it off on occasion. Simply put it’s this easy--------
1. Have fun
2. Try your best
3. Treat others as you would like to be treated (or better!)

Some backstory on our history:
I started the MBBA with the 1973 season. We're currently in our 18th season and have a fairly solid reputation of being one of the more active leagues out there. We are a fictional league, but incorporate Defectors from MLB and another newer feature: The Scout-an-MLB'er Program.
We boast an active forum community that is made active by an outstanding group of owners and our highly sophisticated Participation Point System .

What we're looking for:
Currently I'm looking for an owner for two teams as we begin the offseason events on Monday.

First, the Birmingham Bandits.
What's not to like about the Bandits? They are the defending champions of the MBBA, their owner acquiring a new job and having to leave us. They have three sure fire Hall of Famers in OF Sawyer Silk, OF Steve Collins, and SP Hi Brown. They are an aging club with some financial situations facing them, so it's a challenge to pick up this franchise and try to sustain their success.

Secondly, the Austin Riverbats.
Austin is another historically rich franchise. Even though they have never won a championship, the Riverbats along with the Bandits reside in the Frick League Midwest, long the home of four of the greatest owners in any online league. Austin was previously owned by FIBB Commissioner Joel Odenbach, who also once was Commissioner of the MBBA. These are some big holes to fill, but if you want the challenge of stepping into an MBBA ownership role that is counted on to be an active participant, there are plenty of pieces on this club. For two building blocks, you will not find a better combination than SS Rashardo "Butter" Menne, Jr. and SP John Ross Riles, Jr.. There are several interesting youngsters here and some money to toss around this offseason.
How can you get involved?
Come to the forum , check out our website , take a look around, talk to some people. If you decide this might be something you'd want to be a part of, CHECK OUT THIS THREAD!

Although the league is run by a philanderer and a drunkard, or was that 2 drunkards, I never get it right...anyway, I digress....The MBBA is the best OOTP league with which I have been associated, which either says a lot for the MBBA or not much for me. I prefer to think the former and I think owners past and present would agree. Come, join us, experience the surreality!

One other thing...Hi Brown is not a sure-fire HOF'er...you don't say that about a 27 y.o. who doesn't even have 100 wins yet. He's good, and he still has a lot to do to be a HOF'er.
