I'd have thought he would have put Walcott on yesterday specially when he took Cole of, Paraguay weren't really doing much plus with Walcotts speed it would have stretched the Paraguay team , I don't agree with Walcott going should have been Defoe or Bent but yesterday was ideal to give Walcott 10 minutes and maybe even Lennon.

First and last time you'll ever see them in the World Cup, bit of history being made.

It was such a bad game that I forgot that Paraguay weren't too bad in defense, especially in the second half. But in the first, and especially in the first half-hour, as I said yesterday, there was some Keystone Cop defending at times, yet we couldn't score bar an own goal.

I'm one of the few who doesn't mind Walcott in the squad - but only if there were five strikers (probably Defoe), which there obviously aren't.

And you're right, if he's not coming on with his pace in that heat to try and stretch the Paraguayans who were suspect defending on occasions, then why bother taking him in the first place?

There is an interesting possibility for a conspiracy controversy if England go into the last game qualified and Sweden needing a result to advance. Does Swen play his first team or does he give his home nation a boost by playing 2nd team players and a conservative gameplan?

Don't know if anybody else saw or heard it but I agree with what the BBC studio experts had to say when they said "Sven coached in Italy for alongtime and their tactics are go 1-0 up then take your forwards of and put midfield and defenders on and go defensive", and that's kind of what England did. Yesterday they had a chance to send a message out to the rest by beating Paraguay 2 or 3 nil but they didn't, that being said they do have a porr history in their first game usually they don't even win let alone put in a good performance.

It's from the Serbian name for the country - Srbija i Crna Gora.

I think he would lose all remnants of credibility if he did that. Even if he rested some players as part of an all ready made plan I think there woul dbe a fair few who would shout "contreversy" if he did it

England have Brazil offensive potential if Lampard and Gerrard adapt to their positions and Rooney and Owen play well...but then there is Beckham

Could happen. And I predicted it in the predictions thread
Quote:
Group B - England (6), Sweden (5)
England amazingly are safely through after winning their first two games, and Sven-Goran Eriksson seeing his home nation in trouble after draws with T&T and Paraguay sends out the reserves and surprisingly sees the Swedes win 3-0, enough to see them past the South Americans by a point. The English press howl and want him out immediately (so what’s new?)

True that. I guess it will be key to see how they perform against T&T. If it's another lackluster showing, perhaps thats all they can offer.

If England goes out and beats them by 3 or 4 like they are capable of then watch out!

I agree, Argentina would be the last team I would want to win if the winner had to come from Group C
