Nimmo's such a nice guy. Shame his legs are made of glass.

Meanwhile, the bad person I am, I am enjoying seeing Jorge Lopez' ERA skyrocket against the Clevelands.

Sounds like fun! Who is the tosser tossing for these days? The Cubs don't play until later.

Also, was the Ureña who pitched for the Jays in Anaheim last night the one who pitched for us last week, or are there multiple Ureni out there nowadays?

That was "our" Urena. Not staking a claim after one rather lousy appearance for a garbage save.

"Senga needs the extra day"

...and then goes out and walks five of his first ten batters, first Met since rookie Zack Wheeler to do so.

I messed that up. It appears that the REAL swish Nicholson was the second one....although the moniker could have applied to both.

Who's the new swish? Elly De La Cruz?

Right. I remember mocking the Gnats for counting the Tosser as a bullpen "lock" in the spring.

It's still kind of funny that the only regular-season Ghost-Fork start I've ever seen is last year's Attack of the KiIler Grass.

Add Squirrel to the list of Mets with bum legs. That'll teach him about tripling at his age!

Soto didn't bother with triples and instead hit two bombs in a (late) takedown of the Snakes. Pete hit zilch, spoiled by a feisty third-sacker, and an umpire with the mantra "anywhere but the dirt's a strike". Not that the latter helped Senga much (6 IP, 0 R, 5 BB).

I'm starting to like Luisangel Acuna, even though that first name does not roll off a German tongue with ease. I'll just call him Lacuna.

Mets now 24-14, tied for most wins in the majors ahead of a day off. And I am way past my bedtime, so ... (shoos himself to bed)

One of the worst days of my life, as the excavators made an unexpected return to my quiet, leafy neighborhood and clear-cut about 9 vacant lots, presumably to start building all around me. I "can't wait" to have a new neighbor 30 ft from my bedroom window!

(This happened in 2019 as well, but the development plans were abandoned, and we had six blissful years of peace and quiet and young green trees reclaiming where the original 100-year trees were destroyed back then. I mean, I can't move…I don't have the cash to buy another house and I don't have the credit to get a mortgage. This was my forever home…and now it's going to be boxed in like a tract home in Levittown or wherever. I seriously want to vomit.)

But OTOH, an entire weekend with the Scrubs coming up!

Friday-MLBN (GKR?)
Saturday-FOX
Sunday-Sudoku Channel, assuming I can get that without Extra Innings. We'll see.

Come on, Mets! I need you right now! [/whimpering]

Seriously, how do the Mets have "the best pitching in baseball" with this pile of…parts?

I mean, I'm having enough trouble understanding that the Scrubs are in 1st place; the cognitive dissonance is seriously starting to pile up.

Ron Darling: "Buttó is not a pitcher this year; he's a thrower" - You mean 'tosser', right, Ron?

Dedniel was awful again, Pete didn't get to join the homer party, the new pope is a White Sox fan, but at least the Mets are the last team without an L3 on the season after seeing off the Cubs, 7-2.

Now, my real gripe: why's there no game until 4pm ET on a Saturday in the entire bloody league??

Yeah, seriously. Throw the Euros a dinner-hour start to their triple/quadruple-headers!

(Hoping MLBN lets me check out Brew Crew/Rays at Steinbrenner Field, but It will probably be the Yankees at West Sacramento, instead. Minor-league ball, either way, but I've already seen West Sac.)

Excuse me, but why is Mendoza Line wearing a YANKEES hoodie, exactly?

Black hoodies, white lettering. An MLB logo, and then NEW YORK in the Yankees font. FFS.

It's certainly possible that MLB shop (or whoever) doesn't know the difference between Mets font and Yankees font…but it's equally possible, IMO, that Carlos just grabbed an old hoodie off the pile by mistake. Annoying.

(Also, Megill is pitching like beetle dung, but that's only a disappointment, not a shocker.)

Lesson learned today: it's hard to win when your entire offense consists of Brett Bleepin' Baty.

Also, dear Fox dimwits: when Boom-Boom Diaz comes in trailing by a run, it's not "a great hold opportunity". But I wasn't expecting much better from you mouthbreathers.

Gary Cohen on Roku (with Joe Girardi ... (unsure paw movement)) is a pleasant surprise!

No luck for me; you do need Extra Innings (or Sudoku, I guess) to get today's game. Ah, well. Possible Rangers-Tigers on MLBN, but I assume I'm "local" (193.6 miles!) for Braves-Bucs, which is an easy skip.

Bashing Brett Baty's best of the weekend was the Friday shot, since it cleared the Great Wall of Flushing. Otherwise, Six Most Common Words in English, again.

And I can't tell you how thrilling it is to sit through a Scrubs game and constantly hear how Pete Crow-Armstrong is the greatest defensive CF since Willie Mays…

Yeah, that ******* Baez trade looks better and better every day!

For the Cubbies, mind.

Edit: 30 seconds after I wrote that, "PCA" homered the game tied. Cubs can't stop laughing and won't until 2030 when they won't be able to pay him.

PCA here, PCP there, Mets win early on Roku with a late outburst and now there's enough time for me to jump over and see the Rockies get stuffed down yet another wood chipper.

Your Mets are beating down my "punchless Pirates", as CBS called them.

How about letting the Pirates take the getaway game?
