I have retired the gold Sugar Hill team after 15 seasons. They ended up with a record of 1255-1175 and made the playoffs five times. In their first season they got promoted from iron to bronze which is where they stayed for the final 14 seasons. Cecil Cooper was the teams offensive force leading the team in hits, doubles, home runs and RBI. On the pitching side Mordeci Brown led in wins (and losses) while being the only pitcher to strike out 3,000 batters. This also marks the end of a long career for Lindy McDaniel who joined the club in 2022. The gold players will remain as my tournament team but outside of a backup first baseman I am pretty much done with this team for PT22 unless a Mays or Mantle drops soon (I dont have the points left for either). Since Go makes it easy to join tourneys I will continue just to open packs for fun. The new team is a mix of players who played for one of the 4 NY teams or played in the 1970's. They are likely to be a good silver team and a mediocre gold level team should they get there. I have been accumulating the players for several weeks.

Coney Island is also just waiting on a couple of players should they appear so my overall participation moving forward will be limited at best. With my lack of enjoyment in this version I am surprised I lasted this long.

Monsters Muddle Through in OL B326

Otsego Lake had a middling 4-5 mark down the stretch, but none of the chasers, despite ample opportunity, was able to take advantage of that slip. Six of the nine OL teams are in the PT playoffs. There will be no teams heading down.

No sooner did I write up Sugar Hill, I grabbed the final piece in Lou Gehrig. I hadn't gone to the mission screen in a long time and found I had competed NY team mission 3.

Final D353 (OL diamond) results

Here are the final OL diamond standings:

Cary Southpaws: 14-5
Annandale Atom Smashers: 16-17
Nowhere Men: 14-17
Silly Mad Brewers: 7-12

Cary easily wins OL crown, and is also the only OL team to make playoffs --- as a wild card team in the NC. Silly Mad will be relegated to Gold next season.

If you continue to play non tournament PT, you will love Gehrig as he is a monster in Bronze and Silver level. I have had him for the last 3 seasons, once in Bronze and twice in Silver and his lowest WAR has been 5.1 and his high so far was in Bronze sporting a 6.7 WAR.

Arrow Somehow Made Playoffs

Keystone's 2049 season was not too exciting as a whole, until late, as they were barely playing .500 ball.

Somehow down the stretch and when it really counted, they managed acquire a 5-6 divisional game lead and hold on to it.

Keystone finished the regular season 84-78 however, there were 5 other AC League teams who did not win their own division however, had better records.

The Keystone faithful are being very realistic and are NOT getting their hopes up as Keystone should be a one-and-done playoff team.

On the other side of things.....everyone who has been playing PT long enough already knows that once the playoffs start, it doesn't even matter what your regular season record was as that all goes out the window.

Time will tell who shows up and who is back on the bus and heading home early.

No now except maybe a tweak to the flexibility Sugar Hill is done. I am just going to stick to tournaments hopefully to win some packs and build up my pp reserve in case we get a Mays or Mantle. Even then I may not be able to afford them as I am just below 65k in points.

Wasn't expecting anything anyway because I've been in such a tournament megaslump since the bronze PTCS finals that I pretty much gave up on tournaments entirely. Now I'm just entering opens with card restrictions, like the unsung heroes event.

A calm Magus that's accepting failure by selling everything silver-related off instead of complaining? Who am I and where is the real Magus?

Port Ruppert also bowed out in the Open tournament, losing four straight in round 3 after posting an 8-2 mark in the first two rounds. The sweep was by 1, 1, 2, and 3 runs, with the score in game four, 1-0, in 10 innings.

Cary Corrals McCarthy Plaque

The Southpaws topped New York by a mere .006 in winning percentage. That, I believe, is Magus luck. Congratulations!

So Cary Southpaws are heading to the Diamond World Series. Interestingly, the series is between two wild card teams, each of which had to win their wild card game on the road. Wish us luck!
