What she said. Halladays been utterly spectacular this year.

But of course, the Jays still need to get him a run to have a shot at winning, which is something they haven't done recently.

Etherton shouldn't strike fear in the Jays' batters at all...so, if the A's have a chance, I think Doc will have to be out of the game early and we'll need to put up some runs...something we've done with regularity over the last week or so.

I'll be watching tonight as I don't get the oppurtunity very often...only when they play the Jays will I see an A's broadcast.

A's magic formula

One unheard of pitcher + first career start = 7 innings & 3 runs.

It also seems to go downhill from there for most of them.

Has anybody else heard the ridiculous rumor about Chavez being traded to the White Sox for Joe Crede and Brandon McCarthy?

I'll laugh once I'm done counting all the ways that's stupid.

The funniest part is that the Sox fans over on their board are angry at the thought of the trade.

Actually, wasn't his first career start in Glynn's case.

He was a Jay last year, and a bit this year too, before the Jays traded him to you guys for Cash considerations.

Yup... and listening to the Jays broadcast list night, they weren't glowing over Glynn. He's a two pitch pitcher without much stuff. They predicted that it would only take the Jays once through the lineup to start hitting him, and there were pretty much right. He doesn't have an "escape" pitch. He also only has control with his fastball right now, so when he gets behind in the count, you can sit on it as it is his only accurate pitch. At this point in his development he is, at best, a AAA pitcher.

Yeah, I'm not expecting to see Glynn as a starter again, even though his start wasn't bad. Etherton with an ERA over 6, or this AAA guy? They went with the AAA guy, and Glynn will probably be back to Sacramento or the bullpen when Harden comes off the DL.

Is Harden returning soon? If they can get him back before July, this team is going to be incredibly dangerous in the second half of the season. Another very nice win tonight, Blanton's first ML victory (and he finally looked solid after a string of bad outings).

Crosby, Swisher, and Johnson are the new wave of A's players. These guys are going to be good ballplayers for years to come.

I was mistaken; I thought he was returning from the DL today. But the article I just read said he's still two weeks away. Still, that's puts him on pace to come back around the 19th.

Geez, the A's bats really take this "breaking out of a slump" thing seriously.

As I said before, thank goodness for June. And I'm loving me some Bobby Crosby right now. He looks better at the plate than he ever did last year.

For all the crap Beane got for dealing Mark Mulder last off-season, it's quite amusing that Dan Haren is having about the same season Mulder is. Throw in the fact that they got a fabulous young hitter in Daric Barton and a nice bullpen arm in Calero (granted, he has been teh suk so far) and you have quite the steal.

I hear he's taken by some chick who prefers movie stars to baseball players...

Beane gets crap no matter what he does, no matter how great the move. Haren really has pitched better than Mulder, but the injury-plagued offense couldn't help him out early on. As for Calero, his injuries have held him back. I think if he is finally healthy he'll be a solid bullpen guy for the rest of the season.

I'm not one to make outlandish predictions (ok, yes I am), but this A's team will battle for the AL West crown this year. They may not win it, but they'll be in the race in September.

Great to see the young pups...Crosby, Swisher, and Johnson...contribute. Hopefully these guys keep it up and become the heart of the order...along with a hot Chavez.

Six wins in their last seven...with the only loss coming against Doc, one of, if not, the best pitcher in the AL...not too shabby. Definitely some positive stuff to build on for an offense who wasn't supposed to put up numbers like they did last week.

well the Nats did what a first place team needs to do against a bottom feeder at home. on a side note if anyone happened to listen to the game 6/9/05 on the A's radio how neutral of an announcer is Hank Greenberg. I have never heard such a monotone call of a triple (Crosby's).
