I couldn't believe the radio when I heard the Panthers nearly beat the Chiefs. BY has made some strides, nearly setting a personal best vs the KC D no less. Only the Bills last week scored more on them.

Chiefs OL Tershawn Wharton.

This is amazing. A little kid, probably a little too excited, fell out of the stands, and was caught by the Chief's player.

Probably 8 feet down, onto the concrete, in an awkward position. Here's the link. The player saved this kid from perhaps a VERY serious injury:

And the fact is that no other team has accomplished what they did, regardless of strength of opponents or margins of victory. So I don't see why they shouldn't celebrate the uniqueness and durability of their achievement. After all, the ranks of that team are dwindling (≈25 living members?), and it's not like they hold press conferences and throw parades each year when the last team loses. It's merely a couple tweets and footnote on the sports pages.

I mean, what do you want Zonk & Griese to do? Have a change of heart and say "Well, since we didn't steamroll our opposition on the way to the only undefeated season & Super Bowl title in NFL history, we've decided to stop acknowledging it each year."

Then again, I'm a Dolphin fan. "Long-suffering" doesn't begin to describe it! Not that I'm popping champagne along with them, but I do enjoy that they remain - so far - the only undefeated NFL titlist ever... (If this was the Raiders' or Cowboys' accomplishment and they were enjoying this, I'd probably take your side... but for all the wrong reasons! We're called "fans" for a reason)
Not sure you get it. They're not celebrating their wins. They celebrating other team's losses. Looks tacky as hell.

Whether that should count for or against Dallas, I leave for others to decide.
It's not so much the Chargers waking up as it is the Cowboys letting up. This is a game of high intensity. It's not totally uncommon for players to let up when they think the game is won. It becomes really hard to regain that intensity level again.

It's 1992, week 2, Dallas at Giants. The Giants stink. Dallas takes a 34-0 lead in the 3rd quarter. Giants come all the way back and make it 34-28, and have the ball with plenty of time to take the lead.

I'm not sure if they showed this on TV, but if you were at the game you got to see the scorekeeper put up Giants 35 Cowboys 34, before they started their drive. The crowd erupted. Dallas would hold.

There's no other way to do it if you're going to celebrate being the only undefeated team. There's no other way to do it.

Still looks tacky as hell..and they've been doing it for decades. You're just not going to convince me any different.

Not nearly as tacky as complaining about it, IMO.

I think your focus is unusual. Sure they have to hope every team takes an L. But they are celebrating their season remaining unique. You're focusing on the losses.

If I hold a record, and year after year it stands, I wouldn't be celebrating the failure of others to beat it. Just that I hold the record.

Start at the 1:13 mark. I've seen some bad coaching and judgement over the years. But this has to be top three dumbest of this century. How the final 32 seconds were handled in the Bear/Lions game was mind boggling. I put 95% blame on the coach since the QB is a rookie.

OTOH, if you search "Bears fan meltdown" on YouTube, you have a delicious feast.

This is probably even worse than Dak Prescott going running in the playoffs or (to go old-school) Hugh Millen in 1991against Denver, because those were just the QB making a bad decision on the final play; this was Matt Eberflus having a brain freeze and not intervening to get the team on the proper page.

Caleb Williams has now set a record for the longest streak of consecutive passes without an interception by any rookie in NFL history, and he led a pretty darn good comeback during the 2nd half. But "coaching" such as this is intolerable. JMO.

When I saw this, I told my friends the Bears front office immediately started searching indeed.com.

I put the onus on both. I understand Caleb is a rookie. But he has more experience than either of us & we still know that was dumb. & Eberflus on the sideline looked confused that the game was over & during post game said he thought they did the right thing. If as a coach, if you can't fathom the basic elements of football that your average couch potato has already mastered, you should not be hired.

Surprised he was still employed when the plane landed.

Which makes this previous story instantly obsolete.

(Maybe "confident" was a step too far, Matt? Just saying.)

And joy flows through Chicagoland!

Even famed Packer-Backer Tom Grossi knows it.

I like Caleb as a QB, but he stood in the pocket like he had all the time in the world.

The QB panicked is my guess.

Another questionable coaching decision in KC. With 15 seconds left, no timeouts, and a QB they just pulled out of the stands, just kick the FG. What are they doing?

I am not comparing this to what happened in Detroit.

He didn't panic. That was part of the problem. No urgency. That's where the coach is supposed to step in. But he had the same lack of urgency. That's why he is looking for work now.

I agree with running another play. Especially when the kicker had already missed 3.

You can't plan for every contingency. Like the center thinking the QB told him to snap the ball using telepathy. These are paid professionals who you'd think would have the basic fundamentals on how to play football. That is why when you don't (like Eberflus), you end up unemployed.
