I couldn't believe the radio when I heard the Panthers nearly beat the Chiefs. BY has made some strides, nearly setting a personal best vs the KC D no less. Only the Bills last week scored more on them.

Chiefs OL Tershawn Wharton.
This is amazing. A little kid, probably a little too excited, fell out of the stands, and was caught by the Chief's player. Probably 8 feet down, onto the concrete, in an awkward position. Here's the link. The player saved this kid from perhaps a VERY serious injury: https://www.yahoo.com/sports/see-mom...185754053.html |

It's 1992, week 2, Dallas at Giants. The Giants stink. Dallas takes a 34-0 lead in the 3rd quarter. Giants come all the way back and make it 34-28, and have the ball with plenty of time to take the lead. I'm not sure if they showed this on TV, but if you were at the game you got to see the scorekeeper put up Giants 35 Cowboys 34, before they started their drive. The crowd erupted. Dallas would hold. |

Start at the 1:13 mark. I've seen some bad coaching and judgement over the years. But this has to be top three dumbest of this century. How the final 32 seconds were handled in the Bear/Lions game was mind boggling. I put 95% blame on the coach since the QB is a rookie. |

OTOH, if you search "Bears fan meltdown" on YouTube, you have a delicious feast.
This is probably even worse than Dak Prescott going running in the playoffs or (to go old-school) Hugh Millen in 1991against Denver, because those were just the QB making a bad decision on the final play; this was Matt Eberflus having a brain freeze and not intervening to get the team on the proper page. Caleb Williams has now set a record for the longest streak of consecutive passes without an interception by any rookie in NFL history, and he led a pretty darn good comeback during the 2nd half. But "coaching" such as this is intolerable. JMO. Last edited by Amazin69; 09-03-2025 at 11:07 AM. |

I put the onus on both. I understand Caleb is a rookie. But he has more experience than either of us & we still know that was dumb. & Eberflus on the sideline looked confused that the game was over & during post game said he thought they did the right thing. If as a coach, if you can't fathom the basic elements of football that your average couch potato has already mastered, you should not be hired.

Which makes this previous story instantly obsolete.
(Maybe "confident" was a step too far, Matt? Just saying.) And joy flows through Chicagoland! Even famed Packer-Backer Tom Grossi knows it. Last edited by Amazin69; 11-29-2024 at 03:50 PM. |

Another questionable coaching decision in KC. With 15 seconds left, no timeouts, and a QB they just pulled out of the stands, just kick the FG. What are they doing?
I am not comparing this to what happened in Detroit. |

He didn't panic. That was part of the problem. No urgency. That's where the coach is supposed to step in. But he had the same lack of urgency. That's why he is looking for work now.

You can't plan for every contingency. Like the center thinking the QB told him to snap the ball using telepathy. These are paid professionals who you'd think would have the basic fundamentals on how to play football. That is why when you don't (like Eberflus), you end up unemployed.
