I thought I was going to have another rarity zero. Alas, Torre and Stengel weren't as sneaky as I thought they were going to be. And the Bowa pick was a touch lazy on my part. Though it was nice to use my all-time favorite player in the grid.

Oooh, almost into Del Pratt territory with that Eddie Miller pick!

Myself, I was having great time…until I was confronted with the need for a Braves GG and decided to take an Obvious Answer Penalty rather than risk Roy McMillan or whomever.

I just didn't think it would be SUCH a penalty. Rarity 30.

I was proud of getting a pair of triple-digit picks for was I believe is my first time ever…until I saw that Splitter hit on a pair of triple-digits and a quad, to boot. Sigh.

It's not a competition. There's no beer or bacon at stake.

Score 106. All fine until I hit the Snakes, of course.

So I cruised until the final two, struggled for a decent answer and then somehow hallucinated Dice-K in the desert. After that wrecked my game, I immediate thought of TC of the MLBPA, and rather than waste brain cells on the last vacancy, I simply thought I would see how he scored.

Of course, had I known that Splitter would try Clark for me, I might have started to noodle about Blue Backs. But if I knew then what i know now, I would have bet my NFL bets for real. (Nah, I probably wouldn't do that again. But still.)

Rarity 3. I thought Razor Shines was going to be my unicorn pick. Turns out he was less rare than Joel Skinner. Who woulda thunk it?

Rarity 16. With two specialty columns I took it easy, tbh.

I mean, I'll give myself props for Reynolds, even if it wasn't as rare as I would have liked (and I just realized the cup of coffee I passed on!). But lightweight overall, I'll allow.

Amusing to see we both hit the same '69 Met, though. (To KC with Amos Otis for Joe Foy. Shoot.Me.Now.)

Rarity 44. I think I dislike the save category more than the modern expansion team crosses.

And I knew Pete was an easy way out on the Phillies 300W. I'm still shocked everyone remembers Goose in SF, though.

Jeff Sellers was such an obscure Red that he only pitched in one game for their AAA team after being traded from the Red Sox. Oops.

So, when there is a category that is "Gold Glove" and a team - did the player have to earn the Gold Glove on that particular team? Or did he in his career just have to win any Gold Glove and at some point also play for that team? Same with ROY and MVP. I also assume so but wonder if I am being too literal.

Pretty sure when it's a team and an award then the award has to be won while on that team. If it's two awards, like MVP and ROY, then they don't have to be in the same season.

Rarity 7. I feel like I'm in Bizarro World when my Tampa picks are more rare than my HOF picks. Or that I actually got all three Tampa picks.

Wednesday, I didn't get around to it until the wee small hours. So while I enjoyed deploying old pals Pratt and Zeider, and I'd been cozying up to the Dolans and waiting to Dazzle y'all with my knowledge of Arthur Charles Vance's stop in the Bronx and was delighted to see the eminent dentist Dr. Coakley, I hit the skids on the ROYs. I said "Tony C, 1964!" forgetting that it was Tony O's year and I was so spun by that that I went looking for Reds/Dodgers crossovers even though the Brooklyn/Boston Bs be a bit distinct, and then I plane forgot about Hubbs of the Cubs [/poor taste]. Clearly I should have just crashed instead [/more poor taste].

Yesterday I was debating about Gaylord v. Fergie when I had a brainstorm. "Hey, Gil Hodges was an active player when we traded him for Piersall!" Yeah, but Gil retired instantly to become the Senators' pilot, no Joe Torre cameo ABs for him Dang it. Especially as I'd been so glad to use Willard Brown

Then after being two obvious with the Tampa picks, I went swinging on the third one and literally don't even remember who it was. Other than a miss, that is.

Woo-hoo! 35! I'll take credit for the Phillies, but not so much for "Ah, everybody thinks of Piazza as a Met" or "I remember that Jackie Robinson's ROY scored surprisingly low, let's try that MVP!" Oy vey.

But better than before, at least.

Rarity 5. I don't know if I could've done anything better than that with this grid.
